NECROTIC DIVINITY - Decrepit Existence
CD 2021, vlastní vydání

Noční město ponořené do kovové mlhy. Špína a hnus. Smradlavé kanály. Najednou se objeví přízrak. Vyděšené oči, krev na tváři. Pokřižuješ se a přemýšlíš, co se stalo. Má v zádech nůž a pomalu umírá.

Můj kompas tentokrát směřuje do Kanady.

Nevadí mi to. Noční město ponořené do kovové mlhy. Špína a hnus. Smradlavé kanály. Najednou se objeví přízrak. Vyděšené oči, krev na tváři. Pokřižuješ se a přemýšlíš, co se stalo. Jsi také prokletý, zavržený, pohřbený v zahnívajících katakombách. Hroby se otvírají, rakve praskají! Vzduchem létá prašivý death metal!

sumarizace:

Asphyx says:

I recommend listening to "Decrepit Existence" in the evening, when it gets dark in the cemetery and the survivors leave. Among the tombstones will be only you and music, played in the style of the good old MASSACRE, MORBID ANGEL, PESTILENCE, EXHUMED, DEATH, OBITUARY. To sum up, a perfectly played old school with everything that goes with it. Elemetal rusty riffs, sick vocals, the sound of a stone tomb. NECROTIC DIVINITY are definitely not a band that would break down the barriers and move death metal in a hitherto unsuspected direction. They stick to established order and make it great. I can smell decaying corpses from songs, I can hear worms gnawing on tissues. I see the ghosts of the long dead, dancing on their own graves in front of me. "Decrepit Existence" is an album for all fans of moldy deadly metal.Take it or leave it! Some useless things are not played here, everything is gnawed to the bone. Soaking deadly metal that stinks of old age! We are dust and we will turn to dust! Forever, amen! Graves open, coffins crack! Dusty death metal flies through the air!

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Canada - NECROTIC DIVINITY.

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Canada - NECROTIC DIVINITY.

Hello, this is Justin Peeler, guitarist in Necrotic Divinity. I’ll be the guy answering the questions today.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

ND: Hey! Yeah of course, we are Necrotic Divinity and we are a mostly Canadian Death Metal band from Ontario. I say mostly because our Bass player Chris lives in California. I guess we started by accident. I had wrote a death metal song and needed a vocalist, so I asked my buddy Dave. I said, “Hey you can do death metal right?“ He said yeah so I ended up writing a bunch of songs. Then I asked my friend Chris who’s collaborated with me on other stuff to play bass. That’s how it happened.

We went for a more old school style of death metal. I’m not sure how old school we sound. But that was the goal anyway, lol. Dave sounds a bit like Jeff Walker so we get compared to Carcass a bunch. People compare my guitar style to Kataklysm. I guess I can see that a little. Chris loves Cryptopsy. So I guess our sound is derived from that blend of bands.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

ND: Piss poor conditions! Haha. It was a home studio recording on a really old computer and on top of that I had never recorded guitars and vocals before. I recorded the guitar and vocals here in Ontario, while Chris provided his bass tracks. I produced the album, I mixed and mastered it as well. But because I was such a novice I ended up re-recording all my guitar parts twice because the recordings were all shit! Lol. Then I basically just learned to mix watching Youtube videos and trial and error. Lots of errors! I eventually got a half decent mix but I know so much more now. The next release will be that much better from a production standpoint.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

ND: We went strictly digital for Decrepit Existence. We may do a CD’s or even Vinyl, but there has to be demand for it first.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

ND: Lyrics are all Dave. Basically, I gave each song a working title. Then I said to Dave, “Dude, you can call the song whatever you want.“ For the most part he kept the original title and came up with lyrics that matched the title.

The songs deal with topics from relationships to the state of society to serial killers and violence in the world.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

ND: The logo was done by a dude in the Philipines I found on Fivr. For the cover art I used “Wild Hunt“ by Franz Stuck. It was painted in 1899 and in the public domain. I try to use public domain artwork whenever I can.

Yes, social media is very important. We need to do it more though, that’s for sure.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

ND: We are self released. I created the label HangarEighteen Music just for my projects. But if any labels out there want to sign us then let’s do it, lol.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

ND: So many bands! Dave is huge into Obituary. Chris likes everything metal as do I. In fact my favorite bands are Megadeth and Katatonia! Hardly death metal. But for Death Metal I get lots of inspiration from Kataklysm. I love Exhumed and Inhuman Condition. Right now Dave and I are big into Frozen Soul, we can’t get enough of them!

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

ND: No, we decided to go DIY. But we are working on an EP and I think that one we will submit to labels.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

ND: Right now we haven’t done any gigs. With Chris being so far away that would be something we need to work out. But we are planning on doing live shows eventually.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

ND: We just want to make great music and entertain fans. As long as we are doing that then I say we are where we need to be.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

ND: Sure, we’re on Facebook and IG as Necrotic Divinity and you can follow us on Twitter @Necroticdivini1 and our album Decrepit Existence is on all digital platforms and you support us by purchasing the album on Bandcamp.

Thanx for the interview.
