A few questions - interview with death metal band from Italy - KAIVS.

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Italy - KAIVS.

Answered Leonardo, Max, Jacopo, thank you!

Recenze/review - KAIVS - Horrend (2023):

Can you introduce your band to our readers? When was it founded and what style of music do you play?

Leonardo "Scouting up musicians from around the city we're based in. Started crushing rehearsals and compositions at the speed of light, so that we were already packed up for our very first tour throughout our nation surroundings within six months, more or less. What you can expect from our music is some pure Death Metal straight from beneath our corrupted hearts".

Max "I created Kaivs in the summer of 2022, an outfit death metal based on buzzsaw guitarsound riffs, in the tradition of mighty Stockholm's bands of the 90's scene. I'm the singer, and I have with me Tiziano on the guitar, Jacopo on the bass, and Leonardo on the drums".

Jacopo: "Kaivs was born during the early summer of 2022 by the idea of our megalithic singer, Max. He was scouting all around Rome to find the right members to build this project with, sooner than we thought we had the whole line-up ready to storm rehearsals. The main concept of the band was to take a great inspiration from the giant colossus of the Swedish death metal like Dismember and Entombed, and give it a personal flair with some blackened patterns and riffs. We brought our main influences into the project and developed the sound that incarnates the most essence of our music and you can already hear it from the demo we have available online, and soon you’ll get much and much more. The starting idea was to have five musicians in our formation, but we soon found out that the 4-way formation provides the best results with the right combination of ruthlessness and rawness".

Max "Am I megalithic? Oh, no!".

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Max "We only have only a demo out or a sort of Ep if you like, and it's called "Horrend". For the full-length instead, we've all the songs ready, and we'll enter the studio in May, to finally realease it before the end of this year... hopefully!".

Jacopo "We are going to conduct the recordings at Kika Studios in Rome (IT), basically it became our second home in a matter of weeks during the last year and it’s set to be out for a label that will be revealed soon enough. The album will be entitled “After the Flesh” and the full production will be ensured by our trustworthy herald “Andrea Kikazaru”: he already worked on our Demo and the results were out of our comprehension, so we commonly decided that the whole production will be granted by him once again. “After the Flesh” will also include an amazing piece of art, drawn by the black magic-infused hands of Juanjo Castellano, and it’s set to be out in between this summer and this autumn".

Max "We'll record as for "Horrend", absolutely live also this time too!".

Leonardo "We're gonna record our first album at “Kika Studios” in Rome (IT), which basically became our rehearsal and rec home since the day. “Kika” is the name of our sound engineer too and we proudly entrust our works to him. Our first record is going to be recorded in live sessions featuring bass, drums and guitar, while the vocals will be taken in a separated moment to ensure no acoustic feedback's gonna ruin the tracks".

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Max "Just fifty copies in a cartoonsleeve format, we expect to have a reprint or a sort of re-issue within our fist album!".

Jacopo "We do not know exactly how many copies of “After the Flesh” will be released, but I can say that you will find it as a physical CD and on all streaming platforms. Currently, our demo “Horrend” is released in a pretty limited amount of copies: we are talking about nearly 50 copies in cardboard format and probably never printed back, so you better hurry if you would like to grab one yourself! The Demo tracks will be released online in a while".

Max "I said maybe it will be reprinted ahhhahh! (Laughters)".

Leonardo "We don't actually know how many copies are gonna be released, but we must say everything's gonna definitely be online on every streaming platform, as on CD only for the physical edition".

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Leonardo "All of our lyrics are written by our frontman Max".

Max "I wrote all the lyrics of our songs, and they're about horror, antichristianity, death and destruction".

Jacopo "All the vocal lines and lyrics are magistrally written by our singer Max".

Max "Well... thank you, man!".

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website?

Leonardo "Talking about website and social network, promotion I personally agree that it's the main source of distribution in the present days and everything's being took care by Max as well. For what concernes graphics (and band's image such as photos) Francesco Tacconi comes in handy, with his outstanding talent. The band logo was designed by the equally talented Harris Zullian.".

Max "Oh, Harriz Julian a guy form Indonesia draw the logo, I just saw some of his posts on Instagram and well... I just added him as a friend and wrote immediately to order it! It was just a sort of love at first sight with a font lettering he used, and I beg him to use it for us too and it worked out with an incredible final piece of art! He developed a very incredible logo".

Jacopo "The band logo was designed by Harris Zullian, a very talented artist who took the commission from Max and handed him several ideas in which one of these is our actual logo, nonetheless to say that he did a superb job in making it".

What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Jacopo "At the moment we do not have a website, but we use our facebook, instagram and our bandcamp page. Even though social networks are getting worse and worse in some aspects, we actively use them to promote our project with some snippets of music, news on the upcoming releases and to keep the people updated about our live shows. We consider social networks important as long as they concern our work including advertisements, band news and things like that".

Max "Oh yes, absolutely! You must be a nerd of that when you have a band! If you have any kind of stuff, you have to post it continually! Fans expect some pics and videos anywhere, even when you're shittin' on the loo!".

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takes care about you?

Max "We sent our demo to some dedicated labels in death metal and extreme in general. We had some good responses, some of them chose us and we're studying the best offer for the band and for the future of Kaivs before signing for anyone!".

Jacopo "We cannot talk about the label we have chosen, yet: in due time you’ll know the name. But I can say that we know the bands that cooperate with the label we choose, we received lots of positive feedbacks about the care and the passion and we can’t wait to fully cooperate with them".

Leonardo "We are proud to announce that we just signed a contract with a certain label and we'll keep this moment as our starting point for the future. A lot of gigs and tours are coming in the near future. About our first album we're gonna start the recording sessions in the month of May 2023, so keep an eye close".

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Max "All concerning Nihilist, Carnage, Carbonized, early Entombed until "Wolverine Blues" and Dismember until "Pieces". Also others like Autopsy, Necrophobic, Morbid Angel, Slayer, Grave and early Unleashed. Also all concerning about a certain punk attitude like Misfits, some dark with Type O Negative and Danzig, also early Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Sting, The Police, The Beatles and Billy Idol are just some of my faves!".

Jacopo "All four members of Kaivs come from very different contexts one from the other: some of us love thrash metal to folly, others go wild for doom metal...but on ONE thing we agree on: what kind of Death Metal we love. Our major inspirations come from the “Stockholm School” with bands such as Dismember and Entombed, but our sound has been heavily influenced by Autopsy and good dose of Slayer. All of this is slightly contaminated with little flairs of our main genre, which helped us to deliver our message clearly and more efficiently but never led astray from the main path".

Leonardo "We all agree our sound influences come from “Stockholm School” bands such as Dismember and Entombed, but each one of us has difference kinds of inspiration for what comes about music. My personal self, feels free to tell that a lot of my drumming is built up by Punk Rock music tho (*winks an eye)".

Did you send your record to some labels - which are these labels? How was the response?

Leonardo "As said someone's gonna be taking care of the distribution for the near future With that being said, I encourage you to stay tuned for some Raw, Classic, Krvshing death Metal. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME MOTHERF***ING KAIVS?!?!?!".

Max "As I said before, it was quite unexpected for the unthusiasm some labels/webzines gave us! We were not ready for such a start, and we couldn't forecast just anything like that! But the road is very long, you know, and we must remain death metal and very quite humble".

Jacopo "Before finding the best label for us we sent our promopack to lots and lots of labels scattered around the world, the product was well received and many positive feedbacks came through our e-mail: we asked for it, because we wanted to check if we were working in the right way, besides the band members are first listeners and then musicians. We didn’t expect to receive such a positive response from a lot of people, that fueled our engines and gave use more motivation to present the best product we could’ve came up with".

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Max "We started with three gigs in Italy, one in Naples and they were really hardcore! I don't have any specific preference, I just wanna amuse myself and the audience and meet more metalheads as possible after and before!".

Jacopo "At the moment we played a handful of gigs here in Italy to promote our demo and to let people know that we exist and to spread our music. Generally we do not have a preference on a show over another, but I can say that if we have to give our personal opinion, we do prefer gigs where the organization is at its finest: providing a good show is the duty of the band and also it’s a responsability of the venue manager, the promoter, the sound engeneer... so basically it’s something that should be cared by several people. We do prefer this kind of shows (regardless of clubs or festivals)".

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Max "We hope to have success one day and to live only earning from our music, why not? I'm very ambitious, but the world outside here is very competitive! We'll crank it out possibly!".

Jacopo "Our closest plan is to release “After the Flesh” during this year, then we will focus on the merchandise and begin scheduling the release tour, then it will be followed by another one and another one again: the main plan is delivering our music through brutal frequencies and hoping to do that for the years to come".

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

Jacopo "Of course, our fans can contact us on our Instagram page @kaivsband: we welcome every kind of feedback. For business inquiries the contact is via our e-mail kaivs@mail.com thank you for your time and patience, it was an honor".

Max "Unfuckwithable... whatsoever!".

Recenze/review - CADAVER SHRINE - Benighted Desecration (2023)

CADAVER SHRINE - Benighted Desecration
CD 2023, Chaos Records

for english please scroll down

Mlčela a jen mi podala ruku a odvedla mě temnými chodbami podzemí až do temnoty. Najednou potkávám duše zemřelých, nasávám morbidní atmosféru a poslouchám debut CADAVER SHRINE

Zpozornět by měli určitě všichni fanoušci dlouhých stínů, zdánlivě opuštěných márnic a chladných prokletých kostelů. "Benighted Desecration" mi pomalu proniklo do žil a začalo mě měnit k obrazu svému. Moje vlastní smrt mi podává nové album CADAVER SHRINE a nemusí vůbec nic říkat. Oba víme své. Tahle nahrávka se opravdu povedla. Neměla by chybět v žádné sbírce nemrtvých. Temná, hnilobná doom death metalová seance!

Asphyx says:

She was sitting at the table, smiling as always. It was time, she said, and it sounded like an avalanche. We'd met several times before. She'd picked up a lot of my friends, and I always wondered why the good ones always left first. Isn't there so much evil in the world anyway? She was silent and just held out her hand and led me through the dark corridors of the underground into the darkness. Suddenly, I meet the souls of the dead, soak up the morbid atmosphere and listen to CADAVER SHRINE's debut.

This is a doom death metal band, a project signed by master Mories (Maurice de Jong). He has a large number of bands to his credit. But let's go to the new release "Benighted Desecration". Have you ever opened an old grave? Have you ever met your own death? I think these words describe the novelty best.

The base is moldy doom, morbid death metal is added and everything is soiled with black. When I listen to the new album, I feel like an avalanche full of rocks and bad blood is coming at me. I'm drowning in the swamp and with each riff, each song I sink deeper into the depths. It's like someone's been standing on my chest the whole time I'm listening with a shod boot. You have to like this style or you won't understand it. Fans of long shadows, seemingly abandoned morgues and cold cursed churches should definitely take note. Musically, this is a monolith, a rough-hewn darkness that rolls uncompromisingly forward. I've had a hard time knowing what's reality and what's a bad ugly dream. "Benighted Desecration" slowly seeped into my veins and began to change me in its own image. We're roaming the underground, turning up the volume and our bones are freezing. I appreciate the good formal side of things (cover, sound, production, everything is fine). There is this strange restlessness, trembling and endless sadness in the songs. Sitting at the table and smiling as always. It was time, she said, and it sounded like an avalanche. We had met several times before. This time I'm really going to go with her. My own death hands me the new CADAVER SHRINE album and doesn't have to say anything at all. We both know our stuff. This record was really good. It shouldn't be missing from any undead collection. A dark, rotten doom death metal session!

Recenze/review - UNCHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN - Sulphurfeast (2022)

UNCHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN - Sulphurfeast
CD 2022, vlastní vydání

for english please scroll down

Nahrávka nepostrádá zvláštní, do krvavé mlhy zahalenou atmosféru. Jakoby vám někdo vpíchl do žil jed. To vše zabalené s nadšením a neskutečně uvěřitelné.

Asphyx says:

It cannot be denied that when I entered this tomb, I was afraid. In the open coffins lay bodies that had been completely mutilated. Their deaths must have been very cruel and ugly. I felt a chill down my spine. I sat down on the stone altar and wondered what I had discovered. A new UNCHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN record played in my ears and the dead began to talk to me. Like the music, they described pain and suffering. I was back again, in the old catacombs, where Swedish death metal was playing really loud.

The band has one member, Christian Ludvigsson, who is signed to everything - the music, the recording mix and the mastering. This is a one-man project that is very easy to listen to, has a lot of interesting moments and is definitely one of the better ones I've had the chance to hear lately.

The recording does not lack a strange atmosphere, shrouded in a bloody mist. In some moments the songs might have deserved to be shortened a bit, but that's about the only comment I have. Otherwise, this is raw and raw death metal in its basic, honest form. The moods found on the album are very dark, cold, and insidious. Like someone injected poison into your veins. It works slowly at first, but eventually you start to fall apart. Without flesh, without conscience, like a body without a soul, you'll wander through the underworld and seek the shadows. The songs are very furious, manic and really edgy. At the same time, and this is probably what I like the most, they don't lack for memorable melodies. The skeleton of the motifs is very clear, the rhythmics are killer and the overall result is excellent. When I listen to "Sulphurfeast" I enjoy not only the dead smell, but also the mould, dirt and pus. All wrapped up with enthusiasm and incredibly believable. I never want to see the light again! I want to lock myself in a windowless dungeon and spend the rest of my life there with the slab. Because the author and I swear to the same values. I'm so glad the album reached me, it got under my skin after some time and caused chaos in my head. When I go to the old cemetery outside the city again, I will take UNCHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN with me. I can't wait to talk to the undead again. They have so much more to tell me. There's no denying that when I entered this tomb, I was scared. In the open coffins lay bodies that had been completely mutilated. Their deaths must have been very cruel and ugly. Just like this music. Cold, dark death metal forged from the finest Swedish steel!

KNIŽNÍ TIPY - Pianista - Wladyslaw Szpilman (1946)

Pianista - Wladyslaw Szpilman
(1946), 2018 Argo

Jenže mi to nedalo.

Savo do žíly a jedem dál. To přeci ne, máme nové technologie, už jsme dál, my už budeme jen budovat a užívat si.

Filmová adaptace Romana Polańského z roku 2002 je nepochybně jedním z nejdůležitějších válečných snímků všech dob, protože přímo reálně rekonstruuje klima a kolorit doby a vypovídá o historické pravdě díky své jedinečné nestrannosti. Získala tři Oscary, Zlatou palmu v Cannes, deset polských Orlů a další významná ocenění.

Recenze/review - SEPULCRUM - Lamentation of Immolated Souls (2023)

SEPULCRUM - Lamentation of Immolated Souls
CD 2023, Chaos Records / Canometal / Burning Coffin

for english please scroll down

Trvá to už několik dní. Špína, hnis a nenávist.

Vždyť, kdo z nás, starých fanoušků reálné smrti, by odolal a nenavštívil hřbitov vysoko v horách. Kult smrti!

Asphyx says:

It's been going on for days. Every morning there's a dead body on one of the fresh graves. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, when the shadows are long and the fog hovers everywhere, they have to crawl out. The undead who have returned to take revenge for all the evil that has been done to them. Filth, pus and hatred. I can smell it all from this place. Just like the new album from Chilean maniacs SEPULCRUM. Did you also grow up on old moldy death metal from the 90s? Then you're welcome.

Another open grave, another exhumation. This is good old-fashioned music, with a dark sparkle in the eye. The music of the Chilean warriors is webbed and reeks of blood. Just the first few notes and I'm lost. This is exactly the kind of burial ground I belong in, and this is where I learned my craft. All true gravediggers know their stuff.

SEPULCRUM will hold a ceremony in the style of MORBID ANGEL, MORTA SKULD, DEICIDE, PESTILENCE, DEATH. The base is coarsely chopped darkness, then coldness and rage are added. The album has a very believable sound that literally pins you to the wall and the cover art is reminiscent of a painting in the gallery of death (Francisco Ramírez (Morkt Artist)). Everything for the ancient ritual has been fulfilled. I enjoy listening to the recording, I enjoy it very much and I keep coming back to it with relish. It has a completely devastating effect on me. Visiting the cemetery together, to the sounds of "Lamentation of Immolated Souls" is a nightmare for me. I meet my own demons, dig my own grave. I like that not only is the band nowadays so often a copy of things past, but the gentlemen bring their own ideas. The album is definitely not boring. On the contrary, it's colourful, raw and raw. After all, who among us, old fans of the real death, would resist visiting a cemetery high in the mountains. It's said to be where the dead rise from their graves. A few nights together with SEPULCRUM and you'll be on the dark side too. This record will take you on a long trip with no end in sight. To the River Styx, to the realm of Hades. The songs are written with one purpose in mind - to cut you into little pieces. At the same time, they don't lack a dark atmosphere. Old, dusty, moldy death metal from cursed burial grounds! Death cult!

Recenze/review - ULFUD - Of Existential Distortion (2023)

ULFUD - Of Existential Distortion
CD 2023, Dark Descent Records

Daleko na severu, v temných lesích, sedí kolem staré plesnivé rakve démoni. Šeptají slova nenávisti. Už to nebude dlouho trvat.

Vylezu z rakve a podám desku démonům. "Of Existential Distortion" se vkradlo i do mých snů. S radostí nabídku přijímám a beru si s sebou debut ULFUD. Magický, záhadný black death metalový rituál plný krvavých stínů!

Asphyx says:

Far to the north, in the dark woods, demons sit around an old moldy coffin. Whispering words of hate. It won't be long now. The time has come. I have risen again from my freshly dug grave to tell you a few words about the new album from Iceland's ULFUD. This is the band's first album and I have to admit right off the bat that it has become an addictive poison for me.

I can hear the coldness of the music, and the cold wind sweeping through the wasteland. Black and death metal meet here in a mutual symbiosis. This is not a record for a few listens. On the contrary, even after many days together I still discover new interesting moments. The sound is perfectly taken care of and I like the cover artwork (the author Bahrull Marta has expressed exactly what is happening on the record).

I still enjoy discovering new bands in music. But I have some clear requirements. They have to entertain me, they have to make my face bleed. I need my imagination to fly down the black corridors of the underworld. I'm really glad I met ULFUD on my underground wanderings. They transported me to places where ancient rituals were held. I can feel the shivers from the songs, the desire to destroy and tear flesh from bone. I climb out of the coffin and hand the record to the demons. They nod their heads in satisfaction. It's for them and for all the damned. The songs don't lack the drive, the power, or the necessary shiver that distinguishes the good records from the bad. Here we find perfectly constructed compositions, played with the clarity and manner of the old masters. It is as if I have stepped out of the fog and met my own shadow. Raw death metal, sublimely majestic black. As a long-time fan of these styles, I don't think I could ask for anything better. "Of Existential Distortion" has crept into my dreams. I've had terrifying nightmares, only to wake up, turn up the volume, and be met with an even harsher reality. I recommend listening in total darkness, with the window open to grey clouds. Far to the north, in the dark woods, demons sit around an old moldy coffin. They invite me to the other side, to the other world. I gladly accept the offer and take my ULFUD debut with me. A magical, mysterious black death metal ritual full of bloody shadows!

Interview - ULFUD - A magical, mysterious black death metal ritual full of bloody shadows!

Interview with death metal band from Iceland - ULFUD.

Answered Breki Danielsen Imsland (vocal), thank you!

Translated Duzl, thank you!

Questions prepared Jakub Asphyx.

Ave ULFUD! I am currently listening your new album “Of Existential Distortion” and I can´t help but think that this is the kind of music which will be played during the end of the world. I think it is a great masterpiece. How do you feel about your new album? Have you received any feedbacks? From fans for example? Have you played new songs live already? Do they work?

Greetings, I'm Breki, the vocalist of Úlfúð. Thank you for the kind words, we're quite proud of the album so seeing this kind of reaction from people is very gratifying. We've been playing most of these songs live for quite awhile now since the recording process for the album began back in 2020 and we'd been testing them out even before that. The reactions so far have been pretty positive.

How do ULFUD compose? Are you a traditional band who go to the rehearsal room and compose or you prefer going online and send your ideas via email? I am really interested in your composing process.

A bit of both. What usually happens is that someone will have a skeleton of a song ready, could be just a couple of riffs or an entire song's worth, and they'll share it online. The rest of us will then go over it at home before we take it to the rehearsal space. There we'll flesh it out over time as we get a better feel for the dynamics of the song and where it's going. Each member brings something to the songwriting process which we feel is an integral part of what makes Úlfúð, balancing different influences and ideas to form the whole.

Lyrics are a separated topic of ULFUD. Who is the author of your lyrics? And what are your lyrics about? Where do you find inspiration for your songs? The lyrics on “Of Existential Distortion” just fit so perfectly to the music. What was first – music or lyrics?

That would be me, I write all the lyrics for the band. Inspiration comes to me from all over the place and at any given time I'll have lots of ideas, lines and potential songtitles lying around. I usually like to get a feel for the song before I figure out the lyrics but sometimes a song just immediately fits with something I already have written down. I write lyrics with catharsis in mind and as such a lot of them have something to do with how or what I feel, whether that's mental struggles or a topic I have strong opinions on. I'll often draw from more fantastical elements as well.

Also your cover for „Of Existential Distortion“ is amazing and it fits with the music! I am frightened with the cover. How and why did you choose Bahrull Marta? Did you hear any of your songs to create the cover?

There wasn't any one song in our minds when it came to the album cover, rather we thought of the sound and feel of the album as a whole. We had a pretty clear idea for what we wanted the album cover to be, in terms of themes, colours, etc, but we also didn't want to restrict the artist too much. We wanted him to be able to express his own style through the artwork and Bahrull did a fantastic job on all fronts. His prior artwork and style really stood out to us, there's a lot of depth and texture to his works, which is partly what drew us to him in the first place. We're incredibly pleased with the result.

The sound of the album is great. It is dark, cold and sharp at the same time. Which studio did you chose for recording? Did you have any opinions about the final sound and mastering, were you able to change anything?

A lot of great people were involved in the recording process. Drums were recorded by Stephen Lockhart at Studio Emissary, strings and vocals were recorded by Ingi Þórisson at Windfyre Studios and the whole thing was then mixed by Haukur Hannes at Mastertape Studios and finally mastered by Jóhann Ingi at Studio Fossland. We worked closely with everyone involved thoughout the whole process to achieve our vision of what Úlfúð should sound like - the final product speaks for itself.

The new album was published by American Dark Descent Records. Why this label? Were you satisfied with their work?

We were already aware of Dark Descent as fans of their output, they've worked with a lot of great bands including Mannveira, who we share a member with. That's how we got in touch with them initially. They saw promise in the album and things went from there.

You have been playing since 2015. How was the beginning of your band? How did you create the band and what was the first impulse to build something death metal? Did you have any idols? How was it to play death metal in Iceland?

Iceland is a great place to play any kind of Metal, the local scene is fantastic and full of incredible musicians. Like most bands, we started because we wanted to play music. We didn't really decide on a specific kind of sound or genre from the start, that took shape over time but we knew we wanted to make extreme music.

You can see how much you enjoy your music in your band. Do you have any target which you want to hit? Someone wants a famous label, the other one might want to play on big festival.

I think each individual in the band would have a slightly different answer to this question but as a whole we're quite happy with where we are. Though of course we want what we're doing to reach more people and part of that involves aiming higher and reaching new shores. At the end of the day Úlfúð is an entity born of our collective input and we'll take it as far as it goes.

Breki Danielsen Imsland, unlikely from the other death metal singers I can actually understand what you are singing. Singing death metal music must be very difficult for your vocal folds. Do you take a special care for your vocal folds? Like prepare singing before a concert?

It's a technique like any other but it is intense, for sure. That's partly why it's so satisfying. I usually do a bit of warm-up before a show. I also make sure to always have water at hand, preferably mixed with honey.

How is it to play death metal in Iceland? Do you have a lot of fans on concerts? Do fans support bands? Do they buy CDs, merchandise, etc.? When you organize an event how many people will come?

Iceland is a small country so naturally the Icelandic Metal scene is also small. It's a diverse and supportive community, with lots of passionate people involved. You're almost always guaranteed to have people show up at concerts.

Death metal is a demanding hobby and an even harder lifestyle. What does it mean for you? What do you enjoy most about it and how do you perceive it? How did you actually get to him?

I don't know if I'd call it a lifestyle but it is certainly a prevalent part of my life. It does take some work to get recognition in music though - technical practice, songwriting, recording, promotion, etc. You have to enjoy the process and your partners in crime or else it becomes really stale, especially if its not a full time job. Speaking for myself I certainly wouldn't be here if I didn't enjoy it.

I deliberately ask this question to all bands to do some promotion for the future. Please tell us what ULFUD is planning soon? What can we look forward to?

We have a number of shows lined up here in Iceland after the release and hope to add some international dates as well. Beyond that we have a lot of new material we're working on but for the time being we hope people enjoy 'Of Existential Distortion'.

Thank you so much for the interview and I wish ULFUD a lot of sold CDs and only sold out halls. Be happy in your personal life. I am looking forward for your next death metal apocalypse!

Thank you for having us.

Rozhovor - ULFUD - Magický, záhadný black death metalový rituál plný krvavých stínů!

Rozhovor s death metalovou kapelou z Islandu - ULFUD.

Odpovídal Breki Danielsen Imsland (zpěv), děkujeme!

Přeložila Duzl, děkujeme!

Otázky připravil Jakub Asphyx.

Ave ULFUD!

My ostatní si ji pak doma projdeme, než ji přineseme do zkušebny. Tam ji postupem času dotváříme, jakmile získáme dobrý pocit z dynamiky skladby a z toho, kam směřuje.

Na „Of Existential Distortion“ perfektně sedí k muzice.

Inspirace ke mně přichází odevšad a pořád mám spoustu nápadů, textů a potenciálních názvů skladeb. Často čerpám i z fantasknějších motivů.

I když samozřejmě chceme, aby to, co děláme, oslovilo víc lidí, a součástí toho je mířit výš a dosáhnout nových břehů.

Tuhle otázku dávám záměrně všem kapelám, aby si udělali trošku propagaci do budoucna.
