A few questions – interview with black/death metal band from Israel - ZIGGURAT.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?

As already been said, Ziggurat was formed in 2015 as a duo project. We started writing our material and released our first single Blind Faith as a demo. Along the years we tried to bring more than just black or death metal, we wanted to bring something from our own perspective of what is modern extreme metal. Somewhere in 2017 we contacted Menthor and asked him to join forces and to be our drummer on Ritual Miasma. In last May Stephen Lockhart from Studio Emissary was in charge of the sound, and that’s it basically.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Ido has his own home studio where he recorded all our guitar and bass lines, same story with Menthor that works from his home studio and sent us everything needed afterwards. The vocals were recorded at Dmusic studio, based in Tel Aviv where most of the local metal bands rehearsal and record their stuff. As said before, we chose Stephen Lockhart from Studio Emissary to be in charge of the sound production.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Caligari Records released 200 pro tape cassettes and Blood Harvest will release 500 copies of LP and CDs each, with different colors.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

I (Zaniv) was in charge of the lyrics. I tried to bring some of our own culture and myths like Dybbuk which is very familiar in the Jewish tradition. The album itself is based on rituals, each one of the songs represents a stand alone ritual.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Ziggurat’s logo was crafted and designed by Christophe Szpajdel. Ido is the one behind the designs, sigil and all other graphic related. To be honest yes, I think that each of these is very important, it expresses the idea behind bands, it represents what we do and want to deal with.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

We recieved offers from many labels. At last we decided to go with Blood Harvest and Caligari Records because of their strong roster we are proud to be a part of, and of course a good treatment we got from both of them.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

I think the ispiration came not from spesific bands but more than the occult thing that gets stronger and bigger these days. We wanted to have a mix of all the so called occult wave band and just a bit of some old school death metal that Ido and I both like.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

We sent our EP to a list of appreciated labels which we both like. We got positive answers along some negative. We are very satisfied with the results.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

So far we didnt have any live performances, BUT we are currently working on some local gigs and some international appearances.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Currently we work about establishing the live line up, this is our main goal at the moment. Who knows what shall the future bring to us..

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

The most effective way to get in touch is on facebook and email – zigguratband666@gmail.com feel free to contact us regarding anything like shows, merch, interviews and such. Thank you.
