A few questions - interview with death metal band from Sweden - GRAVE DEFILER.

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Sweden - GRAVE DEFILER.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?

- We are a death metal band formed in Kalmar, Sweden, in 2009. We're not technical, we're heavy and raw. Sometimes we're atmospherical and creepy.

How would I describe Grave Defiler? Death metal horror.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

We recorded at Studio Sunlight working with death metal legend Tomas Skogsberg. He produced, engineered and mixed. It was a blast working with Tomas. His massive experience shows. Earlier, we've produced our own stuff, but this time around everything was just so smooth. We could focus on playing our music and let Tomas do what he does best. Late nights we would just hang out, tell stories and have some rum. It was fucking great.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)

It's 250 copies on 7" flexi vinyl.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Me and Dan (guitars) both write lyrics. On "Three Tales...", Dan wrote "Throne of Skulls", I wrote "Famine" and we both co-wrote "I Dig Your Body". Lyrical themes are a mix of Warhammer, doom and necrophilia. A good mix, I'd say.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Our logo is created by the talented Swedish artist Sandra Lundholm. She specializes in dark, horror-oriented art, and she did an amazing job. She also included an authentic grave digger's shovel, which was really cool.

Regarding social media, let me just say that things have changed. The days of tape trading and chasing badass covers on secondhand are gone. Most underground metal acts have a Facebook page or Instagram account. Including us. That's just the way it is.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

It's actually self-released through our own label, Bearded Giant.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

We're influenced by bands such as Celtic Frost and old Sepultura, but we also find inspiration outside of metal music. Horror movies, novels and video games have all played a part in shaping our sound and creative vision.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

We'll keep that a secret for now. Let's see what the future holds.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

It was a while since we played live. We really wanna get going again, but now the Corona virus got in the way. Rest assured though, Grave Defiler will perform again.

I don't know about the best, but one of the most memorable shows was at a club called Truckstop Alaska in Gothenburg, Sweden. We opened for Deströyer 666 together with Trash Amigos. The latter consisted of Merciless and ex-Morbid members, and had a Dia de los Muertos style with corpsepaint, ponchos and sombreros.
It was a crazy night with lots of beer and madness.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Get financial backing so we can release a full-length. We plan to return to the studio as soon as we possibly can.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?
