Probudím se brzy, cítím v kostech, že nastal čas. Beru do ruky lopatu a krumpáč. Obléknu džísku a vyrazím ven. Nad městem se vznáší černý mrak. Čeká mě exhumace starého hrobu. 30 let poslouchám death metal a dnes se těším jako zombie na čerstvé maso. Už na mě čekají, jako pokaždé. Zástup nemrtvých, který se mnou bude kopat další hrob. V márnici leží ostatky prašivých kostí. Procházím hřbitovem, kdo bude další na řadě? Zaujme mě náhrobek s nápisem IN PAIN. Pak už je to celé o death metalu.

Zmrzlá země, chladné riffy. Vokál bestie, lebky pukají tlakem. Jakoby někdo přefiltroval staré dobré švédské chřestění pytlem plným kostí, zamíchal s temnotou a podával v mrazu. Kývám se do rytmu, vytahuji další rakev na světlo boží. Má práce je náročná, ale dělám ji rád. Poznám u ní totiž hudbu, která má v sobě černou duši.

IN PAIN jsou praví, ryzí, uvěřitelní. Jdou na to stejným způsobem jako kapely typu GRAVE, DISMEMBER, ENTRAILS, NIHILIST, SORCERY. Jedná se o první dlouhohrající album smečky, jejíž historie sahá až do devadesátých let. Je dokonalou esencí severského metalu se vším, co k tomu patří. Vynikající zvuk od Tomase Skogsberga, mistrovský obal od Chainsaw Design, náhodě nebylo ponecháno opravdu nic. Nahrávka nejvíc připomíná asi rezavý buldozer, určený k likvidaci starého hřbitova. Polámané kosti, exhumace starých death metalových postupů. Absolutně temná a zákeřná atmosféra, děsivé motivy i rychlé pasáže, které vám polámou klouby. Otevírám další rakve, nasávám nové chorobné zážitky. Sem na sever, mezi nakloněné náhrobky, tahle deska patří a zde zní nejlépe. IN PAIN se povedlo vytvořit dílo, které se mi zakouslo do mozku, hlodá tam, pálí a žhne. Tenhle death metal byl ukován z té nejlepší švédské oceli! Vynikající záhrobní záležitost! Död!

I woke up early, and I felt in my bones that the time has come. I'm picking up a shovel and pickaxe. I put on my jeans jacket and head out. A black cloud is hovering over the city. The exhumation of the old grave awaits me. I've been listening to death metal for 30 years and now I'm looking forward similar to a zombie is waiting for fresh meat. They're waiting for me, as usually. A crowd of undead who will dig another grave with me. In the morgue, there are remains of mangled bones. I am walking through the cemetery, who will be the next? I am captivated by a gravestone with the inscription IN PAIN. Then it's all about death metal.

Frozen ground and cold riffs. Voice of the beast, bursting skulls under the pressure. As if someone had filtered the good old Swedish rattle with a bag full of bones, additionally stirred with the darkness, and served in the cold. I am dangling into the rhythm, pulling another coffin to the light of God. My work is difficult, but I like it. During the listening, I know the music with a black soul.

IN PAIN are true, honest, and believable. They do it in the same way as bands like GRAVE, DISMEMBER, ENTRAILS, NIHILIST, SORCERY. It is the first long-playing album of the band, whose history dates back to the nineties. It is the perfect essence of Nordic metal with everything that belongs to it. The excellent sound from Tomas Skogsberg, the masterpiece cover art from Chainsaw Design, they didn’t leave anything to an accident. The record most reminds a rusty bulldozer designed to destroy the old cemetery. Broken bones, the exhumation of old death metal techniques. The absolutely dark and insidious atmosphere, scary motifs and quick passages that will break your joints. I am opening another coffin and sucking the new sick experiences. This record belongs here to the north, among the gravestones, and here it sounds the best. IN PAIN managed to create a work that bits into my brain, gnaws, burns and glows. This death metal was forged from the best Swedish steel! Excellent thing from the underworld! Död!
