Občas nevím, jestli ještě spím nebo se staly mé noční můry skutečností. Sestupuji v nich dolů do sklepa, po kamenných schodech. Po stěnách stéká hnis a když dojdu k rezavým dveřím, musím odříkat několik slok prokletých modliteb. Vstoupím dovnitř, do říše absolutního zla a temnoty. Nebe už dávno shořelo a mě nezbývá nic jiného, než se setkat se svými vlastními démony. Z dálky slyším morbidní a prašivou hudbu. Jdu za zvukem, abych nakonec došel k oltáři, ne kterém leží zohavené obětované tělo. Jsem to já.

Mám pro Brennena Westermeyera a jeho tvorbu velkou slabost. Líbí se mi, jakým způsobem přistupuje k muzice, jeho nápady, provedení, zvuk, vlastně všechno (důkazem budiž recenze na minulá alba, které jsou odkazovány dole pod dnešním článkem) pod jménem THORN. Letošní album "Nebulous Womb of Eternity" není výjimkou. Jasně, hlasitě a surově potvrzuje pozici v podzemí a dává jasně najevo, že zde se hraje pro všechny prokleté.

Poslouchat letošní nahrávku je jako navštívit staré pohřebiště v lesích. Do starodávných kamenů jsou otištěny veškeré bolesti a utrpení, kterých je člověk jako druh schopen. Obětní oltář je poznamenaný krví nevinných. Hudba pro mě vždy byla hlavně o emocích, o přenesené energii a při poslechu "Nebulous Womb of Eternity" se opravdu cítím, jako bych se procházel mezi mlhavými stíny v záhrobí. Skladby jsou napsány velmi uvěřitelně, opravdově, reálně, mají v sobě potřebný drive a sílu. Hoří zevnitř, roztrhají vás a shnijete u nich jako těla nakažená starodávnými chorobami. Líbí se mi tajemno, takové ty neklidné nálady, které se prolínají celým albem, létají kolem jako můry kolem ohně. THORN mají svůj vlastní rukopis, výraz a to je v dnešní době poměrně vzácnost. Toulám se podsvětím již skoro 35 let a rád vždy ochutnám z pestré palety extrémní muziky. Píšu už jenom o té, která se mi líbí, která mě osloví a dostane se mi pod kůži. Letos se spokojeně opět kývám do rytmu a užívám si jednotlivé pasáže. Pokud bych měl k někomu tvorbu téhle smečky přirovnat, volil bych jména jako FUMES, FLUIDS, MORTICIAN, RETCHING a další nechutné a syrové tmáře. O povedeném zvuku jsem již psal, zmínit musím ale i motiv na obalu, který přesně evokuje to, co se na nové desce odehrává. Maniakální muzika, plná morbidních obrazů utrpení a bolesti. I have a great fondness for Brennen Westermeyer and his work. I like his approach to music, his ideas, his execution, his sound, in fact everything (as evidenced by the reviews of previous albums linked below today's article) under the name THORN. This year's album, "Nebulous Womb of Eternity", is no exception. It clearly, loudly, and rawly confirms his position in the underground and makes it clear that this is music for all the damned.

Listening to this year's recording is like visiting an old burial ground in the woods. All the pain and suffering that humans are capable of are imprinted on the ancient stones. The sacrificial altar is stained with the blood of innocents. For me, music has always been mainly about emotions, about transferred energy, and when listening to "Nebulous Womb of Eternity", I really feel like I'm walking among the misty shadows of the afterlife. The songs are written in a very believable, genuine, and realistic way, with the necessary drive and power. They burn from within, tearing you apart and rotting you like bodies infected with ancient diseases. I like the mystery, the restless moods that permeate the entire album, flying around like moths around a fire. THORN has its own style and expression, which is quite rare these days. I've been wandering the underworld for almost 35 years and I always like to sample from the colorful palette of extreme music. I only write about the music I like, the music that speaks to me and gets under my skin. This year, I'm happily rocking to the rhythm again and enjoying each passage. If I had to compare this band's work to someone else's, I would choose names like FUMES, FLUIDS, MORTICIAN, RETCHING, and other disgusting and raw dark bands. I have already written about the great sound, but I must also mention the cover art, which accurately evokes what is happening on the new album.
