O tom, že současný svět směřuje k totálnímu chaosu, který nás zničí, už nikdo nepochybuje. Člověk se stal postupně člověku vlkem. Na jedné straně se každý den usmíváme na sociálních sítích, ale uvnitř cítíme nekonečný smutek. Války, jedovaté deště, mrtvé oceány, hladovějící děti. Nějak jsme zapomněli na soucit, na odpuštění. Death metal poslouchám od jeho počátků a dnes si kapely, o kterých budu psát, již velmi vybírám. Musí mě něčím zaujmout, dostat se mi do hlavy. Přikovat mě na zeď. Kanadským SPIRIT OF REBELLION se tohle všechno povedlo.
Bylo to setkání, které mi připomínalo moje počátky. Přišel jsem domů, odstřihl se od současného divného světa a najednou jsem existoval jenom já, můj přehrávač a nahrubo nasekaná tma a chlad. Kanaďané na to jdou surově, bez kompromisů, ale nezapomínají ani na zajímavé a dobře zapamatovatelné melodie. Novinka se pro mě tak stala soundtrackem k apokalypse, která brzy přijde. Poslouchejte nahlas a v naprosté tmě!
SPIRIT OF REBELLION vzešli z temnoty poprvé v roce 2001 a loňské album je jejich šestým dlouhohrajícím v řadě. Nutno rovnou dodat, že když jsem si o kapele dohledával informace, tak jsem si je všechny poctivě poslechl a nemohu jinak, než vám je také doporučit. Pánové totiž volně čerpají inspiraci u smeček jako MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, DEICIDE. A dělají to s citem a elegancí. Mají dostatek svých nápadů a invence a tak je pro mě každé společné setkání zajímavým mrtvolným zážitkem. Za velmi povedený považuji jak zvuk, který je masivní, zabijácký i velmi dobře čitelný, tak i motiv na obalu, který mi připomíná v mnohém stará díla klasických mistrů (ano, Rudi Yanto odvedl opravdu skvělou práci). Možná jsou v současnosti naše těla i duše ovládány na dálku a stali jsme se jen kusy masa pochodujícími na porážku, ale pokaždé, když "Transcendent Chaos" poslouchám, tak mám pocit, že jsem roztrhl řetězy. Navíc, a to je pro mě jako vždy asi nejdůležitější, mě nahrávka opravdu baví a rád se k ní vracím. Nejčastěji v pátek večer, kdy jsem z práce už úplně semletý. Zkrátka a dobře, tahle smečka uctívá staré, klasické a tradiční postupy, ale snaží se do své tvorby vměstnat i své morbidní postupy. Mohu potvrdit, že se jim to opravdu daří na výbornou. Jsem starý pes, hudbu poslouchám dávno už jen srdcem a Kanaďané ve mě zanechali hlubokou krvavou stopu. Jejich hudba je velmi dobře složená, má v sobě potřebný drive i sílu. Hoří zevnitř a na povrchu je chladná a temná jako ruka mrtvoly. Jako současný svět. Intenzivní, surový death metal, který vás strhne do hlubiny vašich vlastních myšlenek! Masakr!

No one doubts that the world today is heading toward total chaos that will destroy us. Man has gradually become a wolf to man. On the one hand, we smile every day on social media, but inside we feel endless sadness. Wars, toxic rain, dead oceans, starving children. Somehow, we have forgotten compassion and forgiveness. I have been listening to death metal since its inception, and today I am very selective about the bands I write about. They have to grab my attention, get into my head. Pin me to the wall. Canadian band SPIRIT OF REBELLION has managed to do all of this.
It was an encounter that reminded me of my beginnings. I came home, cut myself off from the strange world around me, and suddenly there was only me, my player, and the roughly chopped darkness and cold. The Canadians go at it raw, uncompromising, but they don't forget about interesting and memorable melodies. The new album has become the soundtrack to the apocalypse that is coming soon. Listen to it loud and in complete darkness!
SPIRIT OF REBELLION emerged from the darkness for the first time in 2001, and last year's album is their sixth full-length release. I must admit that when I was researching information about the band, I listened to all of their albums thoroughly, and I can't help but recommend them to you as well. These gentlemen draw inspiration from bands such as MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, and DEICIDE. And they do so with sensitivity and elegance. They have plenty of ideas and inventiveness, so every encounter with them is an interesting, deadly experience for me. I consider both the sound, which is massive, killer, and very clear, and the cover art, which reminds me in many ways of the old works of classical masters (yes, Rudi Yanto did a really great job), to be very successful. Perhaps our bodies and souls are currently controlled remotely and we have become mere pieces of meat marching to slaughter, but every time I listen to "Transcendent Chaos", I feel like I've broken my chains. What's more, and this is probably the most important thing for me, as always, I really enjoy the recording and like to come back to it. Most often on Friday evenings, when I'm completely exhausted from work. In short, this pack reveres old, classic, and traditional methods, but also tries to incorporate their morbid methods into their work. I can confirm that they are really good at it. I'm an old dog, I've been listening to music with my heart for a long time, and the Canadians have left a deep bloody mark on me. Their music is very well composed, it has the necessary drive and power. It burns from the inside and on the surface it is cold and dark like the hand of a corpse. Like the world today. Intense, raw death metal that will pull you into the depths of your own thoughts! Massacre!
