A few questions - interview with death metal band from Chile - BLOOD GRAVE.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Hi to all the readers of DEADLY STORM ZINE, and thank you Jakub for granting us this interview.

We are the band Blood Grave, and we play Death Metal. Our band was formed at the end of 2023 in Buin (Santiago, Chile). It was originally founded by Augusto Albornoz (Lead Guitarist), Gustavo Sánchez (First Bassist), and Sebastián Lantaño (Drummer). Later, Pablo Pereda (Rhythm Guitarist) joined. The band started under the name "Execution," composing their first songs. As the weeks passed, the group decided to add a fifth member,

Andrés "Ratanás" Vega joined on vocals. At the same time, they proposed changing the band's name to "Blood Grave." With the complete lineup, we managed to compose a total of 8 songs. Before we could record, Pablo Pereda decided to leave the band, and we added Mirko Huerta as the new guitarist.

This marked a dark chapter in our history. Sadly, due to illness, Gustavo Sánchez passed away at the age of 21. On March 13, 2025, having recovered from this loss, we continued our friend's legacy. Rodrigo Reyes joined on bass, paving the way for our first EP, "The Execution of Humanity."

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

We recorded in Santiago, Chile, thanks to the initiative of Max Neira and Carlos Fuentes (formerly of Inanna and currently with Coffin Curse). Max Neira heard our debut performance, which he really liked, and offered us the opportunity to record with his bandmate Carlos Fuentes, a sound engineer. Under the guidance of SONIDO ORIGEN and in collaboration with ALHUE MUSIC STUDIO, he handled the recording, editing, mixing, and mastering. The conditions were entirely professional, polished, and complementary. Carlos contributed many ideas that worked perfectly with what we wanted to convey in this recording. We are very grateful to him and Max for making this possible.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

We managed to release 300 copies of our EP, 75 of which were for Chile. Currently, it's only available on CD. You can also find us on Bandcamp (Chaos Records Bandcamp), where you can also purchase our album, and on YouTube (Death Madness). We'll soon be working on releasing it on cassette and digitally on Spotify.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

In the band's early days, some of the lyrics for the songs "The Box" and "Polluting Death" were written by Gustavo Sánchez. When Andrés "Ratanás" Vega joined, he wrote the lyrics for all the other songs: "Bloody Fucking Carnage," "Subconscious Cruelty," "Dark Margin of Mental Involution," "Abysmal Cosmic Horror," and "The Execution of Humanity." These lyrics were conceived as primary ideas before the instrumental composition; there were already written ideas and concepts to convey the message or story they wanted to tell, fitting with the rhythm of each song.

The band's songs and concept explore apocalyptic scenarios, real and fictional stories focused on horror, terror, inspired by novels and films of the genre, serial killers, anti-religion, cosmic horror, and the imminent degradation of humanity under individual or mass mental.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The logo and graphic design were handled by our vocalist, Andrés "Ratanás" Vega, and all the album content was created by him and Max Neira. You can see their artwork on Instagram (@rtns_v__art).

Social media has been a huge help in spreading the word about our new releases, live performances, and announcements of new material, so yes, it's been quite helpful, as have traditional media outlets like zines, interviews, and programs that showcase emerging bands.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

So far, Chaos Records is responsible for the start of our discography. It was a recommendation from other bands we know here in Chile:

Sepulcrum, Nigromancia, Blood Oath, and Phantom. These bands released a split with this label and recommended we contact them, since they do a lot of promotion for Death Metal. We're satisfied with the results they've given us.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Our main inspiration comes from Old School Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, and Punk.

Some of the bands we like and that inspire us are Death, Entombed, Dismember, Autopsy, Pestilence, Napalm Death, Deicide and Horrendous.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

We only have been working with Chaos Recs, and the response so far has been Good.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We have played about 10 times on gigs in different spots from Santiago, Buin and San Fernando (Rancagua´s Region). We played on clubs and open spaces but all in a underground scene. Our best show we think were on the gig “Guts n Blood” was a tribute show for our brother Gustavo Sanchéz.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Our plans for the future is keep making new music, record an ep or maybe a long play record and of course keep rocking.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

You can find us on Instagram as blood.grave.dm, on Facebook as Blood Grave, Youtube as Blood Grave (Chile) and our email blood.gravedm@gmail.com

Thanx for the interview.

Thanks Jakub for the interview, Greetings
