Zlo se kolem mě rozlézalo, plazilo jako klubko jedovatých hadů. Ležel jsem spoutaný v chladné kobce a po stěnách stékala zkažená krev. Malým oknem jsem viděl černé mraky a bouřku, která měla za několik okamžiků přijít. První blesk, první úder do bicích. Ostrý zvuk kytar, hlas bestie. Nějak takhle si představuji příchod Satana na zem. Zmítám se ve smrtelných křečích a krysy tančí na ostrých střepech včerejších dní. Existuje hudba, která ve mě vyvolává ty nejtemnější pudy. Vytáhne je na povrch, vypálí na hudební nosič.
MARTYRIUM jsou kapelou z Holandska, která datuje svůj vznik do roku 1996. Vydala letos teprve třetí dlouhohrající album. Jenže přátelé, každý zásek, každá nota, kterou zde tihle tmáři zanechali, stojí za to. Máme tu co do činění s hrubozrnným, chorobným black death metalem, který je náležitě surový a ostrý a zároveň si zachovává mrtvolně chladnou atmosféru. I novinka hoří zevnitř. Stejně jako moje duše. Jasným černým plamenem.
Ne tohle není jen obyčejná nahrávka v řadě. Jedná se spíše pro krvavý, pradávný rituál pro vyvolávání temných sil. Skladby jsou napsány velmi uvěřitelně, opravdově, syrově, zajímavě a naprosto autenticky. Masivní zvuk, divoká produkce, stylový obal, člověk má při poslechu opravdu chuť zajít na nejbližší hřbitov a vykopat rakev prokletého mnicha. Pánové se rouhají ve stylu starých poctivých kapel, ke všemu přistupují s elegancí zkušených mistrů v oboru. Nikde nic nepřebývá, ani nechybí. Jednotlivé motivy řežou tou správnou stranou nože, mám pokaždé neodbytný pocit, že mě kapela postupně zamotává do pevných pavučin, které můžete nalézt jen v těch nejhlubších katakombách. MARTYRIUM působí jako jezdci apokalypsy, jako démoni, kteří spali dlouhé roky ukryti mezi krvavými stíny. S novým albem se přišli pomstít, spálit nás na popel. Kříže jsou obráceny směrem dolů a kněz má stejně rozeklaný jazyk jako hadi, kteří se ještě před chvílí plazili kolem mých nohou. Novinka "Malevolent" je zhmotněním vašich neděsivějších nočních můr. Je definicí toho, co mám na extrémním metalu rád. Holanďané sice čerpají svoji inspiraci ze starých spisů, ale přidávají i spoustu svých vlastních nápadů, vzteku a invence. Správná stylová nahrávka musí bolet (fanoušci třeba takových ANGELCORPSE, BELPHEGOR, PERDITION TEMPLE, NECCORPHOBIC mi určitě moje slova potvrdí), drásat, musí se vám dostat do krve, do podvědomí, do morku kostí. Pánové tohle všechno splnili na sto procent a přidali navíc spoustu dalších věcí jako heavy efekt, nahrubo nasekanou tmu, definici zla, špíny a lidského hnusu. Tahle bestie spala dlouhé roky ukryty v podzemí. Letos se znovu probudila, touží po čerstvé krvi a když ji potkáte, tak vás roztrhá na kusy. MARTYRIUM is a band from the Netherlands that traces its origins back to 1996. They’ve released only their third full-length album this year. But friends, every riff, every note these dark masters have left here is worth it. We’re dealing here with coarse, morbid black death metal that’s appropriately raw and sharp while maintaining a deathly cold atmosphere. This new release burns from within, just like my soul with a bright black flame.
No, this isn’t just another run of the mill recording. It’s more like a bloody, ancient ritual for summoning dark forces. The songs are written in a very believable, genuine, raw, intriguing, and utterly authentic way. With a massive sound, wild production, and stylish artwork, listening to this really makes you want to head to the nearest cemetery and dig up the coffin of a cursed monk. These guys blaspheme in the style of the good old-fashioned bands, approaching everything with the elegance of seasoned masters of the craft. Nothing is superfluous, and nothing is missing. The individual motifs cut with the right edge of the knife; I always have the persistent feeling that the band is gradually entangling me in sturdy webs that can only be found in the deepest catacombs. MARTYRIUM come across as the horsemen of the apocalypse, like demons who have slept for many years hidden among bloody shadows. With their new album, they’ve come to take revenge, to burn us to ashes. The crosses are turned upside down, and the priest’s tongue is as forked as the snakes that were slithering around my feet just a moment ago. The new album “Malevolent” is the embodiment of your most terrifying nightmares. It is the very definition of what I love about extreme metal. While the Dutch band draws its inspiration from ancient texts, it also adds plenty of its own ideas, rage, and creativity. A proper, stylish recording has to hurt (fans of bands like ANGELCORPSE, BELPHEGOR, PERDITION TEMPLE, and NECCORPHOBIC will surely agree with me), tear you apart it has to seep into your blood, your subconscious, and the marrow of your bones. These guys have delivered on all of this one hundred percent and added a whole lot more a heavy vibe, brutally chopped-up darkness, the very definition of evil, filth, and human depravity. This beast has been sleeping for many years, hidden underground. This year it has awakened once more, craving fresh blood, and if you cross its path, it will tear you to pieces.
