Četl jsem si ve starých zaprášených spisech a postupně mě začala objímat temnota. Lidé nejsou rozhodně těmi, za které se vydávají. Naopak. V každém z nás je kus něčeho zlého. Záleží jen na okolnostech a naší vůli, zda to necháme vyplavat na povrch jako těla utopenců. Koneckonců, stačí se podívat na večerní zprávy. Myšlenky, které kdysi formuloval Yetzer Hara a kterým se švédští black metalisté MALAKHIM volně inspirují, jsou stále platné. Bohužel. Stále je v nás něco zvířecího, děsivého.
Kapela letos přichází teprve se svým druhým dlouhohrajícím albem (ještě mají na svém kontě jedno demo, jedno EP a živé album). Přesto mám pocit, že jsme si souzeni. Jejich hudba v sobě totiž obsahuje přesně to, co mám na black metalu rád. Chlad a temnotu, takovou tu naléhavost a černou magii. Noci se nadále prodlužují a novinka se stala mým průvodcem v temných chodbách Hádovy říše.
Jako první mě doslova uhodil do obličeje zvuk (M. Norman). Je mrazivý, ostrý, nekompromisní, přesto má v sobě čitelnost a hutnost. Další nutnou, i když z určitého pohledu samozřejmou, věcí je povedený motiv na obalu - autorkou je Kristina Pavleska (Mors Ultima Ratio Art) a za mě osobně se jedná o vskutku tajemnou záležitost. Určitě se podívejte i na další díla této makedonské umělkyně. Hlavní a zásadní jsou ale jako vždy nápady, ostré riffy, divoké bicí, jedovatý vokál. Tohle všechno dohromady vytváří podmanivě krvavou atmosféru. Při poslechu si připadám, jako bych se procházel za oponou tohoto podivného světa a sledoval veškerou bolest, špínu a zlo, kterých jsou lidé schopni. MALAKHIM nám nastavují zrcadlo a rozhodně to není hezký pohled. "And In Our Hearts the Devil Sings" jsem si několikrát vzal s sebou ven, cestou na hřbitov, na kterém jsou pochováni prokletí. Jakoby se mnou rozmlouvaly jejich oběti. Utopené, zastřelené, oběšené, zabodnuté. Cítil jsem, vnímal všemi póry těla, že se tu hraje opravdově, uhrančivě, s talentem pro temné věci, s touhou ničit. Není tedy divu, že jsem rád a s chutí sepsal několik těchto řádek. Přesto musím dodat, že má slova rozhodně nestačí, album nejvíce pochopíte, když si jen tak sednete a v klidu si jej poslechnete. Zhasněte všechna světla, otevřete okna a pusťte dovnitř chlad. Do pokoje i do svých prokletých srdcí. Tahle nahrávka se pro mě stala postupem času osobní, soukromou záležitostí. Četl jsem si ve starých zaprášených spisech a postupně mě začala objímat temnota. Lidé nejsou rozhodně těmi, za které se vydávají. Naopak. V každém z nás je kus něčeho zlého. Záleží jen na okolnostech a naší vůli, zda to necháme vyplavat na povrch jako těla utopenců. Mrazivé, temné black metalové album, které vás rozdrásá zevnitř a strne do hlubiny!

I was reading through some old dusty documents when darkness gradually began to envelop me. People are definitely not who they claim to be. On the contrary. There is a piece of evil in each of us. It depends only on circumstances and our will whether we let it float to the surface like the bodies of drowned people. After all, just watch the evening news. The ideas once formulated by Yetzer Hara, which Swedish black metal band MALAKHIM freely draws inspiration from, are still valid. Unfortunately. There is still something animalistic and terrifying within us.
This year, the band is releasing only its second full-length album (they also have one demo, one EP, and one live album to their credit). Nevertheless, I feel that we are meant for each other. Their music contains exactly what I like about black metal. Coldness and darkness, that urgency and black magic. The nights continue to grow longer, and the new album has become my guide through the dark corridors of Hades' realm.
The first thing that literally hit me in the face was the sound (M. Norman). It is chilling, sharp, uncompromising, yet clear and dense. Another necessary, though from a certain point of view obvious, thing is the well-done cover art - created by Kristina Pavleska (Mors Ultima Ratio Art) - which I personally find truly mysterious. Be sure to check out other works by this Macedonian artist. As always, however, the main and essential elements are the ideas, sharp riffs, wild drums, and venomous vocals. All of this together creates a captivatingly bloody atmosphere. When listening, I feel as if I am walking behind the curtain of this strange world and watching all the pain, filth, and evil that people are capable of. MALAKHIM hold up a mirror to us, and it's definitely not a pretty sight. I took "And In Our Hearts the Devil Sings" with me several times on my way to the cemetery where the damned are buried. It was as if their victims were talking to me. Drowned, shot, hanged, stabbed. I felt, perceived with every pore of my body, that this was real, mesmerizing, with a talent for dark things, with a desire to destroy. So it's no wonder that I was happy and eager to write these few lines. Still, I must add that my words are definitely not enough; you will understand the album best if you just sit down and listen to it in peace. Turn off all the lights, open the windows, and let the cold in. Into the room and into your cursed hearts. Over time, this recording has become a personal, private matter for me.
