Touláš se ranní mlhou a přemýšlíš, co jednou bude až zemřeš. Rozmlouváš s nemrtvými, hledáš ve starých spisech, zajímáš se o tajemno a okultní vědy. Odpověď ale nenacházíš. Zůstane po nás jenom shnilé maso nebo se rozplyneme v naprosté tmě? Poznat to můžeš jedině tak, že doopravdy zemřeš. Nebo začneš poslouchat nové album francouzských SÉPULCRE, hrajících makabrózní, morbidní a plesnivý death metal.
Již předchozí EP "Cursed Ways of Sheol", na které jsem psal recenzi (odkaz naleznete dole pod dnešním článkem), bylo po okraj narvané naprostou tmou, nihilismem, polámanými kostmi i rouhavou atmosférou. Letošní novinka je volným pokračováním věcí minulých. A také děsivým výletem do země nekonečných stínů, do záhrobí. Letošní album je tak spíše obřadem pro vyvolávání temných sil, než jen obyčejnou nahrávkou.
Melodie jsou zde ohlodány na samou podstatu death metalu. Bicí zabíjejí, vokál připomíná bestii ze starých časů. Je to ale hlavně celková nálada, atmosféra, která je velmi podmanivá, neklidná. Strhne vás do hlubiny a bude nutit se neustále vracet. Ano, je něco magického, něco, co snad ani není z našeho světa, co mě nutí znovu a znovu zapínat play na svém přehrávači. Skladby jsou velmi dobře napsané, složené, mají v sobě potřebný drive, takovou tu prašivou patinu, tajemno i doomové ozvěny. Sestupuji znovu a znovu dolů, do sklepa, ve kterém je vchod do podsvětí. Otevírám rezavou bránu a vstupuji dovnitř. Do uší mi hraje "Cryptic Temple Of Otherworldly Abhorrations" a vše se opět spojilo v jeden transcendentní zážitek. Je to jako děsivá mantra, jako starověké zaříkávání. Umírám a znovu se rodím, spálen vstávám z popela. Základem byl chaos a všechno se točí v kruhu. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako MORTIFERUM, GRAVE MIASMA, DISMA, SEDIMENTUM, AUTOPSY, jste zde správně. Těmito smečkami se Francouzi volně inspirovali a přidali spoustu svých vlastních nápadů a invence. Tohle album hoří zevnitř, i když je na povrchu chladné jako ruka prokleté mrtvoly. Za velmi povedený považuji zvuk, který je masivní, ostrý a dobře čitelný. Motiv na obalu ve mě evokuje spoustu morbidních myšlenek. Hlavní je ale hudba, která začala postupně kolovat v mých žilách, zadřela se mi pod kůži i do podvědomí. Jakoby kapela vytáhla na povrch starodávné krvavé rituály. Toulám se ranní mlhou a přemýšlím, co jednou bude až zemřu. Rozmlouvám s nemrtvými, hledám ve starých spisech, zajímám se o tajemno a okultní vědy. Odpověď ale nenacházím. Zůstane po nás jenom shnilé maso nebo se rozplyneme v naprosté tmě? Poznat to můžu jedině tak, že doopravdy zemřu. Dnes ještě ne, raději si pustím tohle album. Je totiž vynikající po všech stránkách. Okultní, nekonečně temný a chladný death metalový rituál, při kterém jsou vyvolávány děsivé síly ze záhrobí! Album, které vás roztrhá zevnitř a navěky prokleje!

Or you could start listening to the new album by the French band SÉPULCRE, who play macabre, morbid, and moldy death metal.
Their previous EP, “Cursed Ways of Sheol” which I reviewed (you’ll find the link below today’s article) was packed to the brim with utter darkness, nihilism, broken bones, and a blasphemous atmosphere. This year’s new release is a loose continuation of what came before. It’s also a terrifying journey into the land of endless shadows into the afterlife. This year’s album is thus more of a ritual for summoning dark forces than just an ordinary recording.
The melodies here are stripped down to the very essence of death metal. The drums are killer, and the vocals evoke a beast from days gone by. But it’s mainly the overall mood the atmosphere that’s so captivating and unsettling. It pulls you into the depths and compels you to keep coming back. Yes, there’s something magical something that perhaps isn’t even of this world that compels me to hit play on my player again and again. The songs are very well written and composed; they possess the necessary drive, that grimy patina, an air of mystery, and echoes of doom. I descend again and again into the basement, where the entrance to the underworld lies. I open the rusty gate and step inside. “Cryptic Temple Of Otherworldly Abhorrations” plays in my ears, and everything merges once again into a single transcendent experience. It’s like a terrifying mantra, like an ancient incantation. I die and am reborn; scorched, I rise from the ashes. Chaos was the foundation, and everything spins in a circle. If you like bands like MORTIFERUM, GRAVE MIASMA, DISMA, SEDIMENTUM, and AUTOPSY, you’ve come to the right place. The French band drew loose inspiration from these acts and added plenty of their own ideas and creativity. This album burns from within, even though on the surface it’s as cold as the hand of a cursed corpse. I consider the sound to be very well done it’s massive, sharp, and clear. The cover art evokes a lot of morbid thoughts in me. But what matters most is the music, which gradually began to flow through my veins, seeping under my skin and into my subconscious. It’s as if the band had brought ancient, bloody rituals to the surface. I wander through the morning mist, wondering what will happen when I die. I converse with the undead, search through ancient texts, and delve into the mysterious and the occult. But I find no answer. Will only rotten flesh remain of us, or will we dissolve into utter darkness? The only way I can find out is to actually die. Not today, though I’d rather listen to this album. It’s simply outstanding in every way. An occult, infinitely dark, and cold death metal ritual that summons terrifying forces from beyond the grave! An album that will tear you apart from the inside and curse you for eternity!
