Recenze/review - SARS - Synthetic Domination (2025)

SARS - Synthetic Domination

Vždycky jsem upřednostňoval u hudby surovost, temnotu a chlad.

Dlouhé stíny ukrývající zlo a nenávist. Záblesk nože, krev a potom už jenom konec.

Dnes jej chytili a ihned rozdal velkou spoustu rozhovorů. Kruté, syrové death metalové album s krvavou grindcore příchutí! Muzika ostrá jako břitva!

Asphyx says:

I have always preferred raw, dark, and cold music. I like mystery and enjoy hearing stories about death and suffering. Whenever I come across bands like SARS, I just sit down and let the album wash over me. Yesterday, the news reported that a murderer is roaming the streets of our city. He shot his wife in the head and  instantly  became a celebrity. Today's world is twisted, you know that? I don't think I need to explain that to you, my readers.

When I started listening to "Synthetic Domination", I felt like I was on a dirty street. Long shadows hiding evil and hatred. A flash of a knife, blood, and then just the end. The band plays death metal, grindcore, it has that groove drive. Everything is stripped down to the bone. Wild, honest, played from the heart.

I won't write here who this band's work resembles. Listen to the samples and hear for yourself. I have basically no problem with this music. Just a few minor comments from an old metalhead. The sound is absolutely fine (although rawness prevails over density), appropriately cold and wild. The cover art is also well done. As for the music itself, it is slightly monotonous at times. Everything runs mostly at a medium tempo, I would appreciate a little more gas. Some motifs are great, others a little weaker. Nevertheless, the band, which has one more EP under its belt and is debuting this year, is on a very good path. I really like the psycho passages, they add credibility and perversity to the album. Overall, despite my slight reservations, which you should really take as the grumbling of an old mangy dog, I enjoy "Synthetic Domination". You can hear that the band thinks about their music, that they want to have their own expression, their own face. Besides, you know how it is, there's a lot of music out there these days, and personally, I stick to the principle that if I don't like something, I don't write about it. The Poles are determined, you can hear that they firmly believe in their morbid work. I like it more than if they were absolutely perfect. I like to wander around underground, looking into individual catacombs. I'm very glad I met SARS. There's something about their music that I really enjoy. Tension, restlessness, authenticity, call it what you want, I'd rather turn up the volume again. Yesterday, the news reported that a murderer was roaming the streets of our city. He shot his wife in the head and  instantly  became a celebrity. Today's world is twisted, you know that? They caught him today and he immediately gave a lot of interviews. A cruel, raw death metal album with a bloody grindcore flavor! Music as sharp as a razor!

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Poland - SARS.

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Poland - SARS.

Answered Cinek (guitars) and Dyvan (vocals), thank you!

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

SARS is a four-member band founded in 2018 in Rzeszów (Poland) by the current guitarist, Cinek. As a band, we focus on developing our own style, blending different musical genres and calling it BLASTEMATICGROOVE-CORE – a mix of blast beats, mathematical divisions based on groove-core riffs, and insane vocals.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Synthetic Domination was recorded entirely DIY, at my home studio, using live instruments. It was fully mixed and mastered by myself.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

At the moment, we have released 500 copies as well as a digital version, which can be found on most streaming platforms. All merch is available on our Bandcamp page, at our concerts, or by contacting us directly through social media or email.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

The author of the lyrics is the vocalist Dyvan, who will answer this question himself:

I wrote all the lyrics for Synthetic Domination myself. The writing process stretched over a long period, deliberately unhurried. As a band, we agreed early on that we wouldn’t impose any deadlines before entering the studio — a decision that gave me complete creative freedom. No pressure, no compromise. From the outset, I knew what I didn’t want: no religious overtones, no overt political preaching, and definitely no poetic gymnastics. I’m not the kind of writer who wraps thoughts in elaborate metaphors. I prefer directness — clarity with weight. Thematically, the lyrics revolve around a seemingly obvious yet deeply unsettling period: World War II. But rather than retread familiar ground, I chose a different lens. The focus isn’t Auschwitz-Birkenau, but Monowice — a nearby subcamp tied to the IG Farben industrial complex. It’s a place often overlooked, yet central to the machinery of horror. I encourage listeners to explore this history. It’s no exaggeration to say that without IG Farben’s factories, the Austrian painter might never have had the means to ignite the war.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The band’s logo was created by me, while the artwork for Synthetic Domination was done by Maciej Janas (from the band Ketha).

At the moment, we don’t have our own website and use social media instead. I think that, for now, it’s a simple and fast means of communication.

As for the question of whether these things are important, I would say: it depends on how skillfully someone uses the information provided – to that extent, it becomes important.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

I must admit, we didn’t manage to find a label. We released this material ourselves, which makes reaching a wider audience not so easy, but on the other hand, it’s very satisfying.

Despite the self-release, we are still looking for genuine interest from a label – so if anyone is interested, feel free to get in touch with us.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Each of us has our favorite bands and moves within different musical genres, both as musicians and as listeners. That’s why everything we create has this exact mix that we enjoy.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We mainly perform in Poland. So far, most of our shows have been in clubs. Do we have one best performance? Hmm. We always give 100% at our concerts, no matter if we’re playing for a few people or a larger crowd. It has to be played properly, and each of us gives it our best!

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Our plans definitely include concerts and new material. We’re constantly working on it. We’re not slacking off :)

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?
