Je velmi brzy ráno. Nemohl jsem spát. Probudily mě děsivé noční můry. Přišli za mnou mí vlastní démoni a řekli mi, abych šel. A tak jsem vstal a zahalen do krvavé mlhy se vydal neznámo kam. Toulal jsem se po lesních pěšinách, hlavou mi létaly myšlenky jako zběsilé. Bez cíle, přesto jsem věděl, kam jít. Mé kroky řídilo podvědomí a také nové album moravských tmářů DARKWIND. Našlapoval jsem opatrně, užíval si chladné a temné melodie. Mráz se mi i přesto, že bylo poměrně teplo, usadil v kostech. Došel jsem na staré pohřebiště v lesích.
Sedl jsem si na kámen ohlodaný časem i bolestí a kýval se spokojeně do rytmu. Tahle smečka datuje svůj vznik do roku 1997. Má svůj vlastní rukopis, krvavý otisk, chcete-li. Nové album se mi pomalu dostávalo do žil a pokaždé, když jsem zapnul play, tak byly mraky nízko. Skoro se dotýkaly země a v ulicích se toulaly přízraky. Mám rád, když ve mě dokáže hudba probudit nějaké emoce, když do mě umí zaseknout svůj dráp, rozervat mě zevnitř. Tihle maniaci hrají od srdce, opravdově, uvěřitelně a naprosto autenticky. Dostali se mi pod kůži.
Kapela se pohybuje někde mezi surovým, divokým death metalem a chladným, nekonečně temným black metalem. Pánové a dáma samozřejmě čerpají ze starých metalových archívů, ale dělají to s elegancí a nadhledem. Přidávají do skladeb spoustu svých nápadů a invence. Opravdu vám doporučuji, abyste si nahrávku vzali někam do lesa, nejlépe až se setmí. V hodině mezi psem a vlkem, vynikne síla této desky nejvíce. Vhodné jsou i malé hřbitovy v horách, opuštěné staré kostely. Kapela nám vypráví své příběhy, které jsou plné temnoty, starých přírodních zákonů i všude přítomné smrti. Líbí se mi masivní, dobře čitelný a ostře řezající zvuk, oceňuji i motiv na obalu. Vše tu sedí tak nějak přirozeně na svých místech. Navíc v době, kdy působí spousta kapel uměle a plastově, jsou DARKWIND jako svěží vítr v márnici. Ne, nejedná se o smečku, která by otočila kolem světové hudby, samozřejmě, že vše tu už dávno bylo, jenže o to tu vůbec nejde. Cítím, vnímám, slyším, že tu jde o srdce, o vášeň pro hudbu, o dlouhé hodiny práce i talentu. "Darkness, Thy Fate" je albem, které má v sobě takový zvláštní, nebál bych se napsat severský neklid. Schválně jsem na sebe nechával skladby působit v různých situacích, v autě, v práci, doma, ale nejvíce vyniklo opravdu při mých nekonečných toulkách v přírodě. Možná jsem měl i víc času se soustředit a pokaždé jsem objevil nějaký zajímavý moment, pasáž. Nakonec jsem ale stejně skončil na lesním hřbitově. Díval jsem se do tmy, kýval se do rytmu a užíval si podmanivé nálady, které kolem mě létaly jako můry kolem ohně. Na povrchu chladné, black death metalové album, které hoří zevnitř! Mrazivé ozvěny ze starých pohřebišť!

It’s very early in the morning. I couldn’t sleep. I was awakened by terrifying nightmares. My own demons came to me and told me to go. So I got up and, shrouded in a blood-red mist, set off into the unknown. I wandered along forest paths, my thoughts racing wildly through my head. I had no destination, yet I knew where to go. My steps were guided by my subconscious and also by the new album from the Moravian dark metal band DARKWIND. I treaded carefully, savoring the cold and dark melodies. A chill settled in my bones, even though it was relatively warm. I arrived at an old burial ground in the woods.
I sat down on a rock gnawed away by time and pain and swayed contentedly to the rhythm. This band traces its origins back to 1997. It has its own signature style—a bloody imprint, if you will. The new album was slowly seeping into my veins, and every time I hit play, the clouds hung low. They almost touched the ground, and ghosts roamed the streets. I love it when music can stir up emotions in me, when it can sink its claws into me, tear me apart from the inside. These maniacs play from the heart genuinely, believably, and completely authentically. They’ve gotten under my skin.
The band’s sound lies somewhere between raw, wild death metal and cold, infinitely dark black metal. The gentlemen and the lady naturally draw from the old metal archives, but they do so with elegance and a sense of perspective. They infuse their songs with plenty of their own ideas and creativity. I really recommend that you take this album out into the woods, preferably after dark. In the hour between dog and wolf, the power of this record shines through the most. Small mountain cemeteries and abandoned old churches are also suitable spots. The band tells us their stories, which are full of darkness, ancient laws of nature, and the ever present presence of death. I like the massive, clear, and razor-sharp sound, and I also appreciate the cover art. Everything here just naturally falls into place. Moreover, at a time when so many bands come across as artificial and plastic, DARKWIND is like a breath of fresh air in a morgue. No, this isn’t a band that’s going to revolutionize the world of music of course, it’s all been done before but that’s not the point at all. I feel, sense, and hear that this is about heart, about a passion for music, about long hours of work and talent. “Darkness, Thy Fate” is an album that possesses a certain peculiar I wouldn’t hesitate to call it Nordic restlessness. I deliberately let the songs sink in while I was in different situations in the car, at work, at home but they really stood out most during my endless wanderings in nature. Perhaps I had more time to concentrate, and each time I discovered some interesting moment or passage. In the end, though, I always found myself at a forest cemetery. I gazed into the darkness, swaying to the rhythm and savoring the captivating moods that fluttered around me like moths around a fire. On the surface, a cold black death metal album that burns from within! Chilling echoes from ancient burial grounds!
