Ztracený v temnotě bloudím dál nekonečnými chodbami podzemí. Beze světla, bez duše. Měl bych být dávno mrtvý, ale nemůžu zemřít. Prokletý a zavržený. Mrazí mě v kostech, když poprvé uslyším ostrý riff. Jdu za zvukem a znovu objevím starodávnou hrobku s nápisem ETERNAL DARKNESS nad vchodem. Švédská kapela, jak je vám asi známo, vydala v devadesátých letech tři demonahrávky a jedno EP.

Na jejich návrat jsem tedy čekal jako na smrt. Pomatuji si staré, ohmatané kazety i smutné a naléhavé doom death metalové melodie. Jedná se přesně o takovou tu prašivou, syrovou odrůdu kovu smrti, kterou když začnete poslouchat, tak se kolem setmí, mraky se budou dotýkat země a vy sestoupíte dolů, do podzemí, do nekonečných chodeb říše mrtvých. Stačilo několik prvních poslechů a ihned jsem věděl, že tohle je přesně hudba, která koluje i v mých žilách.

Obal zobrazuje italskou tapiserii ze 14. století s názvem Triumf smrti. Perfektně doplňuje morbidní zážitek ze skladeb. Ty se kolem mě nejdřív plazily jako klubko jedovatých hadů, postupně mě uhranuly. Společná setkání se tak stávala děsivou zvrácenou modlitbou, krví nasáklou mantrou, ale hlavně silným a niterným zážitkem. Jednotlivé songy kolem mě plynuly jako voda v řece Styx. Je v nich taková ta zvláštní pradávná síla, poctivost, uvěřitelnost a autenticita, kterou v sobě staré kapely mívají. Venku je právě vedro k zalknutí. Cestou do práce jsem viděl mezi továrními halami umírat potrhaného psa. Nad městem se vznáší smog a vše je šedivé a nehostinné. V těchto momentech, když ještě ulice objímá tma, vyniká síla této nahrávky nejvíce. Vše je velmi dobře napsané, syrové, s masivním, dobře čitelným a plesnivým zvukem. Jsou chvíle, kdy jsem rád sám. Utíkám pryč, do lesů a pokaždé je mým cílem staré pohřebiště v lesích. Zde cítím zvláštní atmosféru, jakoby byla do hrubě otesaných kamenů otištěna bolest a utrpení. Moje pocity z poslechu "Eternal Darkness" jsou velmi podobné. Kapela je i po všech těch letech ve skvělé formě a pevně věřím, že letošní počin není jejich posledním. Jedná se totiž o velmi povedenou záležitost pro všechny nemrtvé. Ztracený v temnotě bloudím dál nekonečnými chodbami podzemí. Beze světla, bez duše. Měl bych být dávno mrtvý, ale nemůžu zemřít. Tu kterou nám předkládají švédští tmáři, je krutá, smutná a zahalená do krvavé mlhy. Syrový, chladný a smutkem nasáklý doom death metalový obřad pro vyvolávání duší zemřelých! Ozvěny ze starých pohřebišť!

I feel a chill run through my bones when I first hear the sharp riff. I follow the sound and rediscover an ancient tomb with the inscription ETERNAL DARKNESS above the entrance. As you probably know, the Swedish band released three demo recordings and one EP in the 1990s.

So I waited for their return like death itself. I remember the old, worn-out cassettes and the sad and urgent doom death metal melodies. It's exactly the kind of raw, mangy variety of death metal that, once you start listening to it, the sky darkens, the clouds touch the ground, and you descend into the underground, into the endless corridors of the realm of the dead. It only took a few listens and I knew immediately that this was exactly the kind of music that flows through my veins.

The cover depicts a 14th-century Italian tapestry entitled The Triumph of Death. It perfectly complements the morbid experience of the songs. At first, they crept around me like a ball of poisonous snakes, gradually mesmerizing me. Our meetings thus became a terrifying, perverse prayer, a blood-soaked mantra, but above all a powerful and intimate experience. The individual songs flowed around me like water in the River Styx. They have that special ancient power, honesty, credibility, and authenticity that old bands tend to have. Outside, it's stiflingly hot. On my way to work, I saw a mangled dog dying between the factory buildings. Smog hangs over the city, and everything is gray and inhospitable. It is in these moments, when darkness still envelops the streets, that the power of this recording stands out the most. Everything is very well written, raw, with a massive, clear, and moldy sound. There are moments when I like to be alone. I run away to the woods, and my destination is always an old burial ground in the woods. Here I feel a strange atmosphere, as if pain and suffering were imprinted on the roughly hewn stones. My feelings from listening to "Eternal Darkness" are very similar. Even after all these years, the band is in great shape, and I firmly believe that this year's release is not their last. It is a very successful affair for all the undead. Lost in the darkness, I wander through the endless corridors of the underground. Without light, without a soul. I should have been dead long ago, but I cannot die. Cursed and rejected. I feel a chill in my bones when I first hear the sharp riff. I sit down at the sacrificial altar and think about death. The one presented to us by the Swedish dark ones is cruel, sad, and shrouded in a bloody mist. A raw, cold, and sorrow-soaked doom death metal ritual for summoning the souls of the dead!
