Pokaždé, když exhumuji další hrob, o který se již nikdo nezajímá a musí být nahrazen novým, přemýšlím o tom, jaký měl nebožtík asi historii. Jak žil, jak umřel, koho měl rád, kdo mu ubližoval. Každý mrtvý ke mě promlouvá, šeptá děsivá slova o bolesti a utrpení. Tentokrát bylo na náhrobku napsáno jméno EXECRATED a hřbitov se nachází v Rumunsku. První EP kapely, která se zhlédla v old school death metalu. Jedná se o velmi prašivou záležitost plnou morbidních svědectví.
Zvuk, ano, zvuk považuji za velmi povedený, motiv na obalu taktéž a co se týká hudby samotné, tak ta je stará jako death metal samotný. Plesnivé, ostré melodie, divoké, zabijácké bicí, řev bestie, tohle všechno dohromady tvoří celek, u kterého tuhne krev v žilách. Kývám se tak nad hrobem a vytaženou exhumovanou rakví spokojeně do rytmu a užívám si pochmurně krvavou atmosféru.
Vzpomínám při poslechu na dobu, kdy jsem byl na přelomu osmdesátých a devadesátých let mladý a vyměňoval jsem si s kamarády nekonečnou řadu demonahrávek na kazetách. Bývaly to tehdy časy objevování, dlouhých poslechů, spousty piva i dívek, které s námi sedávaly v hospodě i u reproduktorů. EXECRATED by do té doby s klidem svojí hudbou zapadli. Velice umně a zkušeně, reálně, ryze, opravdově a naprosto autenticky, přenášejí ducha původního death metalu do dnešní doby. A dělají to s elegancí a nadhledem. Když "Mortal Crucifixion" poslouchám, tak ve mě evokuje vzpomínky na kapely jako SINISTER, PESTILENCE, GOREFEST, ale třeba i EDGE OF SANITY. Rumuni umně kombinují nekompromisní brutalitu a chladností a naprostou tmou. Jasně, není to nic převratného, ani nového, ani nic, co bychom v záhrobí již neslyšeli. Ale zase na druhou stranu si myslím, že nové EP není jen dobře odvedeným řemeslem. Slyším ze skladeb i něco navíc, vnímám surovou, pradávnou energii, posbíranou na prokletých pohřebištích. Užívám si mrtvolné nálady, které létají kolem jako můry kolem ohně. Spálený, zničený a roztrhaný na kusy, znovu vstávám z popela, silnější než kdy dřív. Blasfemie se zde potkává s antikřesťanstvím a krutou, ohavnou smrtí. Svět je zase jednou zahalen do krvavé mlhy a vy si můžete vychutnat nahrávku, která se dle mého názoru povedla po všech stránkách. Teď už moc době vím, že zde byl pochován prokletý, zlý mnich, který napáchal spoustu špatných věcí. Morbidní, surový, blasfemický death metal ze staré školy, který vám vyrve všechny vnitřnosti z těla!

Every time I exhume another grave that no one cares about anymore and that must be replaced with a new one, I wonder what kind of life the deceased must have led. How they lived, how they died, who they loved, who hurt them. Every dead person speaks to me, whispering terrifying words of pain and suffering. This time, the name EXECRATED was inscribed on the headstone, and the cemetery is located in Romania. It’s the first EP from a band that’s taken a shine to old-school death metal. It’s a very grim affair, full of morbid testimonies.
The sound yes, the sound I consider very well done; the cover art is also great, and as for the music itself, it’s as old as death metal itself. Moldy, sharp melodies, wild, killer drums, the roar of a beast all of this comes together to form a whole that makes your blood run cold. I’m nodding my head contentedly to the beat, standing over the grave and the exhumed coffin, and enjoying the grim, bloody atmosphere.
As I listen, I’m reminded of the time when I was young, back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, swapping an endless stream of demo tapes with my friends. Those were days of discovery, of long listening sessions, plenty of beer, and girls who would sit with us at the bar and by the speakers. EXECRATED would have fit right in with their music back then. With great artistry and skill realistically, purely, genuinely, and completely authentically they bring the spirit of original death metal into the present day. And they do it with elegance and a sense of perspective. When I listen to “Mortal Crucifixion”, it evokes memories of bands like SINISTER, PESTILENCE, GOREFEST, and even EDGE OF SANITY. The Romanians skillfully combine uncompromising brutality with coldness and utter darkness. Sure, it’s nothing groundbreaking, nothing new, and nothing we haven’t already heard from beyond the grave. But on the other hand, I think this new EP is more than just a well-crafted piece of work. I hear something extra in the songs I sense a raw, ancient energy gathered from cursed burial grounds. I revel in the deathly moods that flutter around like moths around a fire. Burned, destroyed, and torn to pieces, I rise again from the ashes, stronger than ever. Blasphemy meets anti-Christianity and a cruel, hideous death here. Once again, the world is shrouded in a bloody fog, and you can enjoy a recording that, in my opinion, is a success in every respect. Every time I exhume another grave that no one cares about anymore and that must be replaced with a new one, I wonder what kind of life the deceased must have led. How they lived, how they died, who they loved, who hurt them. Now I know for certain that a cursed, evil monk who committed many terrible deeds was buried here. Morbid, raw, blasphemous old-school death metal that will rip all your insides out of your body!
