A few questions - interview with death metal band from Bangladesh - KAAL AKUMA.

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Bangladesh - KAAL AKUMA.

Recenze/review - KAAL AKUMA - Turiya (2023):

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Hails! Kaal Akuma is a three man death metal band from Dhaka, Bangladesh. We were formed in late 2018.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

We recorded the new album in 2021. It was recorded in Studio Baksho, Dhaka. Mix and master was done by our good friend Aynus Tazwar Zeus.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

The new album is released in CD, Tape and Digital format from Nuclear Winter Records. There were 300 and 100 limited copies of CD and tapes respectively.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

The lyrics were written by Rivoo ( Tiyanak- Bass and vocals) . The lyrics basically consists of personal philosophies in the form of misanthropy , Horror , death, all consuming emptiness and void.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The logo of the band was a joint venture of Alex (Ah Puch-Drummer) and our good friend, Radi. We are available in Facebook and Instagram. We believe these platforms to be instrumental to spread our music among the audience. We do post all updates regarding our releases and tours in our social media pages.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

For this album we chose Nuclear Winter Records as our label partner. They have been really helpful throughout the release process. We wanted to release an album or two with NWR for quite a long time because we think the roster is super sick and consists of bands that we listen to with similar taste in death metal.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

There are lot of bands that we listen to and admire. Along with the classics, Bands like Incantation, Immolation, Dead Congregation, Death, Spectral Voice, Morbid Angel, Grave, Blood incantation, Inquisition,1349 are some of our major influences and inspirations while making music.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Yes, we sent our songs to some labels that we like including NWR, NWNPROD, Dark Descent Records and so on. The response was mostly quite positive and appreciative.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We played quite a lot of gigs, very hard to keep count. Most of the gigs we played were indoor gigs. But we also played in some local outdoor metal festivals. It is hard to pick one best performance. We played our hearts out in each and every one of them. Had a killer time.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

We want to keep on doing what we are doing. Keep making music and doing gigs and having a good time while doing it. We plan to work on the next release and keep on exploring and experimenting keeping the OSDM core intact.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

We can be reached via our facebook and Instagram page. The link to our facebook page is:

Recenze/review - KAAL AKUMA - Turiya (2023)

KAAL AKUMA - Turiya
EP 2023, Nuclear Winter Records

for english please scroll down

Zatloukám do rakve poslední hřeb. Morbidně, temně a chladně.

KAAL AKUMA jsou z Bangladéše a mají na svém kontě již jedno dlouhohrající album z roku 2021 ("In the Mouth of Madness"), které se také velmi povedlo. Tihle šílenci mají dar pro záhrobní věci. Umí vytvořit podmanivou a černou atmosféru.

Zatloukám do rakve poslední hřeb. Další zohavené tělo. Bestie řádí v ulicích. Pokaždé roztrhá svoji oběť na kusy. Jako nějaká šelma, jako přízrak ze starých časů. Poslouchám zrovna nové "Turiya" a musím neustále přidávat hlasitost. Temný, hororový death metalový rituál! Čerstvě exhumovaný hrob plný hnisu a špíny!

Asphyx says:

I'm putting the final nail in the coffin. Another mutilated body. The beast is rampaging through the streets. Each time, it tears its victim apart. Like a beast, like a ghost from the old days. I'm listening to the new "Turiya" and I have to keep turning up the volume. There are strange noises coming from the coffin. The dead come back to life to this music, which proves to me that these guys are playing in the way I like so much. Morbid, dark and cold.

KAAL AKUMA are from Bangladesh and have already released one full-length album in 2021 ("In the Mouth of Madness"), which was also very successful. These madmen have a gift for the afterlife stuff. They can create a captivating and black atmosphere. Their death metal is cruel, dusty and terrifying. Like ancient rituals.

If you like packs like INCANTATION, DEATH CONGREGATION, MORBID ANGEL and other darkies, you will also like "Turiya". It's only three tracks, but it's definitely worth your attention. The band likes H. P. Lovercraft, mysticism, ancient rituals and honest death metal. With this music they can create a very captivating atmosphere. I listened to the EP mostly at night or during my walks in the cemetery. I always had the feeling that some evil monster was following me from the shadows, biting my throat at any moment. The cover, sound and other formal things are absolutely fine. This is a total underground where some of the dirt is not so much in view. KAAL AKUMA are like a fiercely venomous snake that first catches you with its gaze, only to paralyze and die in horrible convulsions after the bite. As I listen, I see before me the old catacombs where the cursed were once buried. One riff replaces another and a wail echoes between the cold walls. Bones crack from the pressure, another song, and pus oozes down the walls. I don't think this record should escape any honest fan of Endless Shadows. I'm putting the final nail in the coffin. Another mutilated body. The beast is rampaging through the streets. Each time, it tears its victim apart. Like a beast, like a ghost from the old days. I'm listening to the new "Turiya" and I have to keep turning up the volume. A dark, horror death metal ritual! A freshly exhumed grave full of pus and filth!
