Asi jako každý se těším celý týden na víkend. Až zmizím ze současného divného světa. Zavřu za sebou rezavou bránu a uteču do podzemí. Do temnoty, do míst, kde si dává rande Smrt se Satanem. Vytáhnu zaprášená stará alba, co jsem poslouchal jako mladý a čtu knížky, které mě ovlivnily. Při jedné ze svých misí jsem se prohrabával CD, které mi přišly na recenzi. Hnědá obálka od Great Dane Records a uvnitř album od italských EXHUMAN.
Ihned si dohledám nějaké informace na internetu. Kapela pochází ze Sicílie a hraje hrubozrnný death metal klasického stylu. Při poslechu jako bych se vrátil po časové ose zpět. Album "Fear of Oneself" bylo původně vydáno v roce 2010. Loni bylo remastrováno a znovu přeneseno na hudební nosič. A musím rovnou dodat, že se přesně, i po tolika letech, trefilo i do mého zvráceného vkusu.
Nahrávka je takovou velice šikovně nahranou a složenou poctou Chuckovi Schuldinerovi a jeho DEATH. Zaslechnout lze spíše vlivy jeho novějších alb. Činěno je vše velmi vkusně, s vlastní invencí a nápady. Jakoby stál legendární Chuck v pozadí ve stínu a souhlasně pokyvoval hlavou. Víte, co je ale nejlepší? Původně, ještě než jsem album "Fear of Oneself" slyšel, jsem byl spíše skeptický. Bývám vrozeně opatrný ke kapelám, jejichž historii příliš neznám. Jenže postupně došlo ke vzájemnému přenosu temné energie a najednou jsem zjistil, že se tak nějak automaticky, podvědomě, k nahrávce velmi často vracím. Možná na tom má trošku vinu nostalgie, ale i tak, dělalo mi velkou radost neustále přidávat hlasitost. Tohle vydání je samozřejmě takovým malým dárkem (vychází v nákladu 500 kusů), který ocení především všichni pravověrní fanoušci tradičního, reálného a na kost ohlodaného death metalu. V mé sbírce se najednou ocitlo CD, které jsem posunul do předních řad těch, které rád a často poslouchám. Brával jsem si jej i do auta, do práce, nebo jsem jen tak chodil s přehrávačem po ulici a užíval si shnilé, chladné a ostré melodie. Všechno tu sedí perfektně na svých místech. Hudba je divoká, nespoutaná a je v ní náležitá porce talentu a schopnosti napsat velmi dobré a zapamatovatelné melodie a motivy. Často píšu, že jsem starý pes, který hlídá vstup do podsvětí více než tři dekády. A jako takový nemohu jinak, než vám album doporučit. Hoří totiž zevnitř. Je velká škoda, že tahle kapela je v hibernaci, byl bych moc zvědavý na nějaký nový materiál. Nezbývá, než se těšit zase na víkend, až za sebou zavřu rezavé dveře a zmizím ve tmě. EXHUMAN mi byli, jsou a budou vždy velmi dobrými průvodci. Propracovaný, temný, surový death metal ohlodaný až na kost! Shnijete zaživa!

Like everyone else, I look forward to the weekend all week long. When I can escape from this strange world. I close the rusty gate behind me and flee underground. Into the darkness, to the place where Death meets Satan. I pull out the dusty old albums I listened to when I was young and read the books that influenced me. During one of my missions, I was rummaging through CDs that had been sent to me for review. A brown envelope from Great Dane Records and inside an album by the Italian band EXHUMAN.
I immediately look up some information on the internet. The band comes from Sicily and plays coarse-grained death metal in the classic style. Listening to it, I felt like I had traveled back in time. The album "Fear of Oneself" was originally released in 2010. Last year, it was remastered and re-released on a music carrier. And I must add that even after so many years, it still appeals to my twisted taste.
The recording is a very skillfully recorded and composed tribute to Chuck Schuldiner and his DEATH. You can hear the influences of his newer albums. Everything is done very tastefully, with originality and creativity. It's as if the legendary Chuck were standing in the background, nodding his head in approval. But you know what's best? Originally, before I heard the album "Fear of Oneself", I was rather skeptical. I tend to be naturally cautious about bands whose history I don't know very well. But gradually, a mutual transfer of dark energy took place, and suddenly I found that I was automatically, subconsciously, returning to the recording very often. Maybe nostalgia is partly to blame, but even so, I really enjoyed constantly turning up the volume. This release is, of course, a small gift (only 500 copies were produced), which will be appreciated especially by all true fans of traditional, real, and bone-dry death metal. Suddenly, there was a CD in my collection that I moved to the front row of those I like and listen to often. I used to take it with me in the car, to work, or just walk down the street with my player and enjoy the rotten, cold, and sharp melodies. Everything fits perfectly in its place here. The music is wild, unrestrained, and has the right amount of talent and ability to write very good and memorable melodies and motifs. I often write that I am an old dog who has been guarding the entrance to the underworld for more than three decades. And as such, I can't help but recommend this album to you. It burns from within. It's a shame that this band is in hibernation, I would be very curious to hear some new material. All that's left is to look forward to the weekend again, when I close the rusty door behind me and disappear into the darkness. EXHUMAN have been, are, and always will be very good guides. Sophisticated, dark, raw death metal gnawed to the bone! You will rot alive!
