A few questions - interview with death metal band DISOWNING.

Answered Jesus.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?

Jesus "The Butcher" founded Disowning with Max (Drums) some time after leaving Offending. We are a death-metal group in the large sense of the word. Our death metal really mixes a lot of influences, as much as old-school ,as well as new school death metal, but also progressive, and melodic influences... all this accompanied by heavy and dark atmospheres.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

The vocals were recorded by Julien DESCHAMPS at AUTOUR DES CHANTS studio, the guitars and bass were recorded by Sylvain BIGUET at NEW RETRO SOUND studio and the drums were recorded by Fabien GUILLOTEAU at NOMAD AUDIO studio. The album was mixed and mastered by Sylvain BIGUET at NEW RETRO SOUND studio.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Human Cattle is currently available in 500 copies in Digipack CD format and in digital format

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

The author of the lyrics is Jesus "The Butcher" (Vocals). He started off on a concept album. The human being fascinates him a lot and amazes him on the other hand. Here in "Human Cattle" he depicts very clearly his dark side and his decline that is already leading him to his downfall. It approaches the human being reduced to modern slavery, lobotomized, enslaved, submissive and formatted.

Today, Man is nothing, he can no longer think for himself, he no longer has a personality, no ethics or values.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The Disowning logo was created by Jesus "The Butcher" and later reworked by Rémy (Headsplit Design.)

The album cover and Artwork were created by Rémy (Headsplit Design.) and the photos were taken by Loupi (Focalpix)

Social networks are essential these days. We try to work on this but as we are from an older generation, we're having a hard time with it. We don't always have the time to manage this properly. We are so much more the type to remake the world around a few homemade beers, and to exchange in person with our fans.

But we try to keep up as well with facebook and instagram.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

We have chosen the XENOKORP label.

I had heard good things about Nicolas' work.

Nicolas was thrilled with the album and offered us a signature on Xenokorp. I had him on the phone for hours, the connection was very quick. He took the time to answer all my questions. He gave excellent adviced and really knows his job.

So when it's doing well and the person is a pro, why go elsewhere?

We will see later, but in any case we are already very satisfied with his work, his availability and the respect he has for our music.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

We don't have any favorite bands, we have very diverse and varied influences. Each member of the group has his own baggage of influences accumulated over the years with experience, it is this clever mixture that gives life to the entity that is Disowning.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

No, we never made any attempt with others labels. Maybe we were wrong, but as a new and unknown band we thought it would not work, we thought it was not really accessible for us.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it‘s (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We did about a dozen concerts. We don't have any preferences, we like especially when the atmosphere is good and lively. We like the proximity and the exchange with the public.

We took great pleasure in opening for Dew Scented and Angelus Apatrida in front of an audience of 400 very receptive people when we were not a headliner. Our best show yet!

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

First we will wait for the response to "Human Cattle"

We have plans to do some dates in France at the end of 2019 and to do some dates in Canada.

It is certain that we are open to all proposals and that we will go as far as possible. We will see where the wind will take us...

But as I was saying, I think it is already important to see how "Human Cattle" will be received so that we can make a concrete decision for the future and see more clearly our future projects.

But anyway, we will start to focus on the writing of our 2nd album during the year 2020.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

The simplest and easiest way is to stay on our Facebook: www.facebook.com/disowning

It may take some time to reply, but we reply to everyone.

Thanx for the interview.

Thanks to you!
