MASACHIST - The Sect (Death REALigion)

Pouštění žilou je odebrání určitého množství pacientovy krve za účelem léčby nebo prevence onemocnění. Pouštění žilou bylo založeno na starověké lékařské teorii, podle které krev s dalšími tekutinami tvořila systém čtyř základních tělesných šťáv, jejichž rovnováha byla podmínkou zdraví. Pouštění žilou bylo běžnou součástí lékařské praxe od starověku až do poloviny 19. století.

Při poslechu novinky "The Sect (Death REALigion)" polských MASACHIST u mě došlo k celkové obměně veškeré krve. Byla nahrazena tmou, šílenstvím a krutostí. Mé žíly se zpočátku kroutily odporem, nechtělo se jim pojmout všechno to zlo, ale nakonec jsem podlehl stínům. Poláci již tradičně nahráli album, které je těžko stravitelné, nebude vyhovovat asi každému, ale vězte, že pravidelné společné modlitby časem přinesou zkažené ovoce. Kroutím se v křečích, prokletý, ztracený v záhrobí. Tuhle desku si budu pouštět každý večer, hned po setmění.

"The Sect (Death REALigion)" je poctou temnotě. Je albem nahraným v záhrobí a ovlivněným IMMOLATION, CANNIBAL CORPSE, AZARATH, šílenstvím a zkaženou krví. MASACHIST opět přišli, aby zničili tento svět svojí hudbou. Novinka má neskutečný tlak, náladu čerstvých hrobů a navěky vás prokleje. Pronikne vám do žil pomalu, jako nějaký zákeřný jed, přetvoří vás k obrazu svému. Zemřete opuštění, ztracení a doslova rozdrceni. Skladby zde působí jako ostré hřeby, kterými vás přitlučou na obrácený kříž. Skvělý temný death metal! Peklo! Smrt! Vykoupení nečekejte! Jen zatracení! Vynikající!

When I was listening to the news of Polish MASACHIST “The Sect (Death REALigion)" all my blood was modified. It was replaced with darkness, madness and cruelcy. Polish recorded a hard digestible album that isn’t for everybody, but you know regular joint prayers can bring rotten fruit. I have cramps, I’m damned, lost in the beyond. This album I want to listen every evening, immediately after twilight.

"The Sect (Death REALigion)" is honest to the darkness. It is played in the beyond and it’s swayed by IMMOLATION, CANNIBAL CORPSE, AZARATH, madness and rotten blood. MASACHIST come to destroy this world with their music. The news has incredible pressure, mood of fresh graves and it will curse you forever. It comes into your veins slowly like some poisen, it transform you. You will die alone, lost and broken. The song are sharp like spikes that nail you up to the cross. Great dark death metal! Hell! Death! Don’t expect salvation! Damnation only! Excellent!

Padesát let prodávala jed ženám, které chtěly zabít manžela. Čarodějnici z Vladimirovace, jak bylo ženě přezdíváno, zadrželi v roce 1928. Bylo jí 90 let.

Jednomu z policistů tehdy řekla: „Pracuji s ďáblem, mladý muži. Jestli mě pošlete do vězení, vzpomenete si na mě na smrtelné posteli. Nezahrávejte si s mocnostmi zla.“

Vypadá to, že někteří lidé jsou opravdu prokletí. Zmítají se někde mezi pomýlením a duševní chorobou. Poslouchám prvotinu polských death metalistů UERBEROS a přijde mi, že jsem zavřený v místnosti spolu právě s několika takovými odsouzenými vražedkyněmi. Padá na mě tíseň, bojím se o své hrdlo a marně se pokouším utéct. Ne, dneska svůj boj nevyhraji a albu "Tormented by Faith" zcela podléhám. Krvácím ze znovu otevřených ran, způsobených ostrými riffy ve stylu HOUR OF PENANCE, DESECRAVITY, ABORTED, MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, DEICIDE, ve vokálech a tlaku pak SINISTER. Tohle je masakr, přesně mého gusta.

"Tormented by Faith" útočí na mé nejskrytější choutky, probouzí moji temnou stranu a hraje na ní, jako na nějakou pořád napnutou strunu. Novinka nenudí, spíše naopak, neustále na ní nacházím nové a nové zajímavé momenty. Album nepostrádá melodičtější, mocné nástupy, tak jak jsme na ně u polských kapel zvyklí a hlavně, pořád mě "nutí" k opakovaným poslechům. Neočekávejte nic převratného, ale spíše poctivé, přesvědčivě odvedené řemeslo. Jsem zavřený v cele posledního soudu a rozprávím s odsouzenými na smrt. Pouštíme si stále dokola "Tormented by Faith" a kolem se vznáší pachuť krve. Nahrávka doslova tepe, je jako čerstvě proříznutá tepna. Death metal, který vám vyrve vnitřnosti z těla! Velmi dobře!

sumarizace:

UERBEROS na své prvotině dodávají porci tradičního death metalu, pořádně okořeněného krví. Celkově vyznívá novinka chytlavě, je zcela masakrující a i když pánové nepřinášejí nic nového, velmi dobře se poslouchá. Poláci připomínají buldozer, hrnoucí před sebou tuny lidských koster. Neznají slitování. Ke konci je sice album už trošku monotónní, ale jinak je velmi chutným pokrmem. Deska je opatřena řezajícím, pořádně syrovým zvukem. Je hodně znát, že za skladbami stojí zkušení muzikanti. Nápadů a krvavých motivů zde naleznete opravdu velké množství. Krutost střídá masakr, jeden ostrý riff druhý a vy nakonec stojíte a máte co dělat, abyste si neumlátili hlavu v headbangingu. "Tormented by Faith" je počinem, který se rozhodně povedl. Ocení všichni příznivci apokalypsy v death metalu! Masakrující nahrávka!

UERBEROS gives a portion of traditional death metal on their first album, it is very spicy blood. As a whole this new album seems catchy and it is a real massacre. Although these guys don´t bring anything new or original it is nice to listen to it. This Polish maniacs reminds a bulldozer which shoves a tones of human skeletons. They do not have a pity. In the end this album is a little bit monotone, however it is a tasteful piece of food. This album has a cutting and raw sound. You can tell that behind these songs are very experienced musicians. There is a lot of ideas and bloody motives on this album. Cruelty is changed with massacre, one sharp riff is changed by another one and you are standing in the end and you have to really focus to not band your head in headbanging. "Tormented by Faith" is a work which is very successful. Every fan of apocalypse in death metal will appreciate this album! Very cruel record!

Few questions – death metal band from Poland - UERBEROS.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc. ?

Hello, we are Uerberos band. We are from Poland and we have been playing together since 2015. In general our music can be described as death metal.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Whole recording was conducted under the supervison of Robert Wrożyna from Rob – Sonic Records. All tracks, mixing and mastering was done by him.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Till now 500 CDs in digipack was released by our own effort. Moreover, Tourmented by Faith (our first CD) is also available in digital version via bandcamp.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Lyrics were created by our vocalist – Kania. Anti-religious themes dominate in the lyrics.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Logo was created by our friend Żuk, who is also a tatoo artist. Graphic design and the booklet was done by Mariusz Harasymów. When it comes to social media, they are the channel through which we can access to many metal maniacs and be in touch with them.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

So far we are not cooperating with any label. Tormented by Faith was done totally by ourselfs.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

In Poland we have many deathmetal bans. To mention two major band, which gave us inspiration: Hate and Infernal War.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

We had some offers from labels, but the contracts and conditions were very unfavorable, so we decied to hold on with signed any contarcts so far.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

For now we are not giving concerts. The record was done by quadrlupe composition, but now we have second guitar player, so we want to give him a time to familirize with material. It is just a matter of time when we are about to start giving concerts.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

For sure we will not rest on laurels. We already have more than a half of a new material for the second album, which is our major goal.

Ave CUT UP! Právě poslouchám vaši novinku „Wherever They May Rot“ a říkám si, že takhle nějak bude znít hudba, kterou budou hrát při konci světa. Myslím, že se vám povedl opravdu mistrovský kousek. Jaké jsou tvoje pocity z novinky? Máš už nějaké zpětné vazby od fanoušků? Hráli jste už nové skladby naživo? A jak fungují?

Děkujeme! S novým albem jsme moc spokojeni. Je to krok kupředu a rozhodně jsme zvýšili laťku a to ve všem – v písních, produkci, individuálních výkonech, ale také v umělecké stránce našeho obalu, apod. Zpětná vazba je naprosto skvělá a to jak od fanoušků, tak od médií. Hlavně tedy od fanoušků a to je pro nás nejdůležitější. Nové písně jsme zatím ještě naživo nehráli. První koncert hrajeme po vydání alba a to bude za pár týdnů, 29. dubna v Sundsvall ve Švédsku. Strašně se těšíme na to, až si nové písně zahrajeme naživo ve všech klubech a na festivalech!

Jak vlastně vznikají nové skladby pro CUT UP? Jste tradiční kapelou, která se zavře do zkušebny a tam skládá nebo využíváte v dnešní době tolik oblíbený internet a posíláte si nápady emailem?

Běžně se scházíme a hrajeme ve zkušebně. Ale když píšeme nové songy tak je neskládáme tak, že něco zkusíme dohromady. Naopak, každý píše sám za sebe, nahraje si doma demo a pak pošle kapele už hotovou píseň a kapela to následně ohodnotí a dá zpětnou vazbu. Takhle nám to funguje a vyhovuje. Poté teprve píseň společně vyzkoušíme ve zkušebně, a pokud cítíme, že písni ještě něco chybí, nebo je potřeba něco změnit, tak na tom pracujeme společně. Nakonec, když je hudba hotová tak napíšeme (tedy především Erik napíše) text.

Kapelu CUT UP jste založili v roce 2014, jako pohrobka VOMITORY. Jak jste se vlastně dali dohromady?

Když se rozpadli VOMITORY, já a Erik jsme chtěli pokračovat v hraní. Věděli jsme, co přesně chceme a tak jsem se zeptal Anderse a Andrease aby se k nám připojili. V dubnu 2014 tak vznikli CUT UP.

První co mě při prvním poslechu letošního alb napadlo, tak je lehký rozdíl ve zvuku oproti předešlé desce. Novinka je víc „chladnější“, propracovanější. Změnil se nějak postup nahrávání? Pod novinkou je podepsán Dan Swano. Mluvil vám hodně do výsledného zvuku?

Nahrávání proběhlo vlastně skoro stejně jako při prvním albu. Nebyly tam žádné marginální změny. Ale za zvuk alba je zodpovědný Dan Swano, který album mixoval. Udělal pro nás úžasnou práci. Produkce se k novým písním neskutečně hodí. Náš debut „Forensic Nightmares“ byl trochu víc analogový, co se týče zvuku, ale „Wherever They May Rot“ má ostřejší, „studenější“(jak jsi to nazval) a agresivnější zvuk.

Samostatnou kapitolou jsou u CUT UP texty. O čem pojednávají na novém albu a kde jsi pro ně bral inspiraci? Na „Wherever They May Rot“ perfektně sedí k muzice. Co bylo dřív, muzika nebo texty?

V CUT UP nejdříve píšeme hudbu. Naše texty jsou o smrti, krveprolití a různých způsobech utrpení. Erik je hlavním textařem CUT UP a občas mu pomáhá Andreas a Anders. Inspiraci pro muziku hledáme u jiných death metalových kapel, filmech, knihách a v naší pochybné fantazii. Erikovy texty jsou většinou nereálné. Je to prostě výplod jeho zvrácené mysli. Andreasovi texty, jak sám říká, vycházejí z toho, co se děje v reálném světě. O tom, co viděl ve zprávách nebo co sám zažil, ale dává do toho nějaké své extrémy.

Skvělý je i obal „Wherever They May Rot“. Je pod ním opět podepsán Lukasz Jaszak. Proč vás oslovila právě jeho práce? Vybírali jste z již vytvořených prací nebo vám byl namalován obal přímo pro vás? Slyšel autor třeba pro inspiraci dopředu vaše album? Letos se mu cover opravdu povedl, což se o minulé desce (s prominutím) říct nedalo. Ten se mi nelíbil.

Práce s Lukaszem je skvělá a je to nepochybně umělec, který má úžasný cit pro morbiditu a to je přesně to, co je důležité pro dobrý obal death metalového alba. Obal pro „Wherever They May Rot“ byl vytvořen přímo pro nás, na základě našich požadavků a dávali jsme i nějaké drobné instrukce. Pak k tomu přidal nějaké svoje nápady a přišel za námi s naprosto zabijáckým obalem. Myslím, že jsme mu i posílali text k prvnímu songu, aby alespoň zhruba věděl, o čem hrajeme. Nic z hudby ale neslyšel.

Je super, že „Wherever They May Rot“ vychází i na vinylu. Jak vnímáš tento nosič ty? Sbíráš gramodesky?

Vyrostl jsem při poslouchání vinylů, takže pro mě je přirozené si myslet, že se naše alba vydávají i na vinylu! Jsme taky nadšený, že se vinyl zase vrací a že si lidé mohou koupit alba na CD i vinylu. V pubertě jsem sbíral vinylu, ale už ne. Pořád mám ale něco ze své sbírky. Alba a 7´, kterých jsem se nikdy nedokázal vzdát, jako je Iron Maiden a Motörhead.

Nebudeme si nic nalhávat, ale death metal je, byl a bude mít jen malé procento posluchačů. Na spoustu lidí je to už příliš extrémní hudba. U nás v České republice tak člověk potkává na koncertech stále stejné tváře. Někdy jsou akce skoro rodinnou záležitostí. Jsme malá země, s omezeným potenciálem fanoušků a tak by mě zajímalo, jak je tomu u vás? Ve Švédsku to bude asi lepší, vzhledem k vaší death metalové historii.

Buďme upřímní – death metal by měl být extrémní a nikdy by se z toho neměl stát mainstream. Nikdy by se to nemělo líbit všem. Ve Švédsku je tenhle styl asi silnější než v Čechách. Možná proto, že máme bohatší death metalovou historii, ale také proto, že i teď je scéna dost vitální.

Jak jsou na tom vlastně CUT UP a koncerty? Co jsem koukal na internetu, tak jich zrovna moc nemáte. Vím, že je to všechno hlavně o financích, ale nelákala by vás nějaká třeba evropská šňůra?

Máme v plánu několik koncertů a další ještě přibudou. Je jich sice málo, ale na všechny se moc těšíme a jistě víme, že se naši fanoušci na všechny koncerty také těší. Můj názor je ten, že v dnešní době je silná konkurence a člověk se musí prát o místo na festivalu, atd. A taky fakt, že CUT UP je nová kapela s novým jménem, je dalším faktorem, že to není úplně jednoduché – a nezáleží na tom, v jakých kapelách jsme hráli před CUT UP. Ale my jsme si toho vědomi a o budoucnost se nebojíme. CUT UP je solidní živá kapela a lidé se to dozví hned, jak nás zažijí naživo. Bylo tam i několik překážek ohledně bookování agentů a zástupců, atd. Bohužel je na světě spousta „kecalů“ a nikdo toho ve finále moc nedělá. Zatím jsme bohužel potkali pouze ty „kecaly“ a tak se teď staráme o zamlouvání koncertů sami. Zatím žádnou evropskou šňůru vymyšlenou nemáme, bohužel, ale rozhodně se o to budeme snažit. Některé naše osobní záležitosti nám to trošku kazí a nemůžeme dělat žádné delší šnůry. To je ale pouze dočasné. Rozhodně nějaká šňůra v budoucnu bude, pokud to bude finančně možné.

V současné době si většina lidí nová alba stahuje z internetu a používá jen jeho digitální podobu. Jak vidíš tuhle problematiku ty? Zajímal by mě tvůj pohled jako muzikanta.

Co se týče prodeje alb, tak by bylo skvělé, kdyby byla situace stejná, jako v 80. letech, v době před internetem. V té době byla hudba exklusivnější a to v mnoha úhlech pohledu a lidé si více cenili alb, víc než dnes. Pořád mě baví vlastnit fyzické kopie alb, ta možnost užít si i obal alba tak, jak to kapela žádá. Ale protože jsem sám uživatel, tak vím, že je velice výhodné používat digitální formu hudbu. Fyzické kopie určitě nakupuji méně. Člověk jednoduše zleniví, když platí jednou měsíčně za služby jako je Spotify, kde má prakticky veškerou hudbu světa jako na dlani. Rozhodně jsem proti všem formám ilegálního stahování. Pokud si stahují lidí hudbu – nebo filmy, cokoli – ilegálně bez placení, jsou to pouze zloději a zrádci.

Jsou nějaké desky, které tě v poslední době oslovily?

Ano, nové album od LOCK UP „Demonization“, MASTODON „Emperor of Sand“ a MORDBRAND „Wilt“.

Znáš, posloucháš nějaké kapely z České republiky?

Zdá se, že tady vždycky bylo hodně českých kapel, ale teď mě napadá jen pár z nich. TORTHARRY, ROOT, MASTER´S HAMMER. A JIG-AI jsou skvělí!

Co chystají CUT UP v nejbližších měsících?

Budeme hrát naživo v Belgii, Finsku, Německu a Slovensku. Momentálně pracujeme na víc projektech, takže doufám, že je brzy oznámíme. Budeme také vydávat druhé video z našeho nového alba, to bude během několika týdnů. Tak se těšte!

Ave CUT UP! I am currently listening to your new album “Wherever They May Rot” and I think that this is the music which will be playing during the end of the world. I really think that you created a masterpiece. How do you feel about the new album? Do you have some feedback from fans? Have you played the new songs live yet? How do they work on concerts?

Thank you! We're very satisfied with our new album. It's a step forward and we have raised the bar when it comes to about everything - the songs, the production, the individual performances, the artwork etc. The feedback has been nothing but amazing, from both fans and media. Especially from the fans, and that's what's most important to us. We have not played the new songs live yet. We will play the first show after the album release in a couple of weeks from now, on April 29th in Sundsvall, Sweden. We're really looking forward to play the new songs live on the upcoming club shows and festivals this year!

How do CUT UP compose new songs? Are you a traditional band who just goes to the rehearsal room? Or do you just send ideas to each other online (which is quite popular nowadays)?

We do get together and rehearse on a regular basis. But when we write new songs, we don't write by jamming together. Everyone is writing by himself, records a demo of it at home and then sends the complete song to the rest of the band for a review. That's a very smooth way, and it works good for us. Then we try it out together in the rehearsal room, and if we feel that anything needs to be changed, we work that out together. Once the music of a song is all set, we (or mostly Erik) write the lyrics.

The band CUT UP was founded in 2014 like a posthumous of VOMITORY. How did you get together?

After the Vomitory split, me and Erik wanted to continue playing together. We knew what we wanted so we asked Anders and Andreas to join us, and in April 2014 Cut Up was complete.

The first thing that came to my mind when I was listening to your new album was the light sound difference compared to your previous album. The new album is “colder” and worked through. Did you changed your recording process? Dan Swano did your new album. Was the final sound depended on him?

The recording process was pretty much the same as our first album. No major changes there. But Dan Swano who mixed the album, is ultimately responsible for the sound. He did an amazing job for us. The production fits the new songs perfectly. While the debut "Forensic Nightmares" had a more analog feel to the sound, "Wherever They May Rot" has a sharper, "colder" (as you put it) and more aggressive sound.

Lyrics – that is a separate chapter for CUT UP. What are the lyrics on the new album about and where did you find inspiration? The lyrics fit so well together with the music on “Wherever They May Rot”. What was first – sound or lyrics?

Music is always written first in Cut Up. The lyrics are about death, gore and different ways of slaughter. Erik is the main lyric writer in Cut Up, with back up from Andreas and Anders. We find our inspiration for lyrics from other death metal bands, movies, books and our own sick imagination. Erik's lyrics are almost always fictional, just about something that he makes up from his twisted mind. Andreas' lyrics, as he said himself, always come from something that has happened in the real world. Something he's seen on the news or experienced himself but with some extreme twist to it.

I really like the cover of “Wherever They May Rot”. It was, again, done by Lukasz Jaszak. Why did you chose his work? Did you chose from his previous work or he did something totally new just for your album? Did he hear any of your songs before for inspiration? This year´s cover is great and I cannot really say the same (sorry) about the previous one. I did not like that one.

Working with Lukasz is great and obviously he's a killer artist with a great feeling for the morbid and sick, which is needed for nice death metal album artworks. The artwork for "Wherever They May Rot" was made just for us, upon our wishes and some rough instructions. Then he put in his own ideas and came up with this killer piece. I think we sent him the lyrics for the title song, so he could see what it was about and maybe get some kind of image of it. But he didn't hear any new music.

“Wherever They May Rot” will be one vinyl, that´s great. How do you feel about vinyl? Are you a collector?

I grew up listening to and collecting vinyls, so naturally I think it's great that our albums are also released on vinyl! And I'm happy that nowadays it's becoming more of a standard again, to have new albums available on both CD and vinyl. I used to collect vinyls in my late teens, early 20's but I don't do it anymore. I still have some of my old collection though. Albums and 7"'s that I never could let go of, like Iron Maiden and Motörhead.

Let´s be honest – death metal always have had and will have only a small percentage of listeners. This kind of music is too extreme for many people. In the Czech Republic there are always the same people on those concerts. Sometimes those events are like a family meeting. Our country is quite small and the potential of fans is limited. I would like to know how about you? How is it in Sweden? I presume it is better thanks to your death metal history?

Let's be honest - death metal should be extreme and was never meant to be mainstream. It simply shouldn't appeal to everybody. In Sweden I guess it's bigger than in the Czech Republic. Maybe because of our rich death metal history but also because of the vital current scene then.

How about CUT UP and concerts? I looked online and it looks like you do not have many concerts. I know that it is always about money because it costs a lot but have you ever thought about a Europe tour?

We have a few shows coming up this year, and more will be added. Many or not, we're really looking forward to them all, and we know for sure that there are fans out there waiting for us to play live. My opinion is that the competition is harder these days, to get booked on festivals and good slots on tours etc. And the fact that Cut Up is a new band, a new name, doesn't make it easier - regardless of what bands we've played in prior to Cut Up. But we are aware of this, and are not at all worried for the future. Cut Up is a solid live band, and that will become a known fact once people will experience us live and the word is getting around. We have had a couple of setbacks when it comes to booking agents also. Unfortunately there are lots of "talkers" and not so many "doers" in this business. So far we've only encountered the talkers, so now we are taking care of all the bookings ourselves instead. Unfortunately there is no European tour planned, but that's a deliberate decision from our side. Some private matters make it a bit difficult for us to do any longer tours right now. But it's just temporarily. We will for sure tour in the future, as long as it's financially possible.

Nowadays, the majority of people download music online and they only use the digital copies of albums. How do you feel about this? You are a musician and I would like to know your opinion.

From a record sales point of view, I would want it to be like it was in the 80's, i.e. pre-internet. Back then music was more exclusive in many ways, and people seemed to appreciate an album more than they do today, generally speaking. I still love owning physical copies of my albums, being able to enjoy the artwork like it was supposed to and the general work that the artists have put into it. But being a music consumer myself, I totally see all the benefits of the digital revolution. I buy a lot less physical albums these days unfotunately. It's easy to get lazy when you pay a monthly fee to a streaming service instead, like Spotify, where you have basically all the music in the world at your finger tip. I'm against all sorts of illegal downloading. If you download your music - or movies or whatever - illegally without paying for it, you are nothing but a thief and a betrayer.

Are there any albums which have caught your attention recently?

Yes, the new albums from Lock Up "Demonization", Mastodon "Emperor of Sand" and Mordbrand "Wilt".

Do you know and listen any bands from the Czech Republic?

There always seemed to be a lot of Czech bands around, but now I can only think of a few. Tortharry, Root and Master's Hammer are what comes to mind right now. And Jig-Ai, which I think are great!

What are CUT UP´s plans for the next few months?

To play live for the first time in countries like Belgium, Finland, Germany and Slovakia. More shows are being worked on at the moment, so I hope we can announce more very soon. We will also release a second video from our new album within a few weeks. Keep your eyes open!

Měl jsem na tom místě už dlouho divný pocit. Uprostřed mýtiny v hlubokých lesích, kam jsem chodil na svých dlouhých procházkách. Jakoby začala zem pod mýma nohama bublat, přesypávat se a měnit. Následovala z ničeho nic vystrčená kostnatá ruka a skřek beroucí mi dech. Probudila se první zombie, aby zvěstovala příchod zla na zem.

Řečtí old school death metaloví válečníci ECTOPLASMA se inspirovali u starých dobrých AUTOPSY, BENEDICTION, ASPHYX, PESTILENCE, ale i GRAVE, NIHILIST. Kombinace švédského odéru smrti a evropského hnijícího podzemí. Výsledkem je loňské EP "Skeletal Lifeforms", otevírající vrata do samotného pekla. Cítíte ten chlad? Tu zkaženou energii?

"Skeletal Lifeforms" je noční můrou, tancem zběsilých zombie, nihilismem, převlečeným za hudbu. Pálí mě oči, motá se hlava a už mi jdou zase po krku. Tančíme nekonečný tanec určený k vyvolávání temných sil. Kosti nám chřestí, v jednoduchosti je pořád ta pradávná síla poctivého a reálného death metalu. Rouhám se bohům, plivu na hroby všech nemrtvých. Tohle je underground, který budu vyznávat do konce svých nebohých dní. ECTOPLASMA jsou poctivci, kteří nenechali nic náhodě. Jsou odhodlaní, přesvědčiví, prašiví a šílení, jako smrt v pekelných plamenech. Krutá deska, plná popraskaných lebek! Velmi dobře!

Máte rádi starý, morbidní a prašivý death metal? Navštěvujete s chutí old school death metalové koncerty a je vám milejší ostrý riff, před moderní a technickou smrtí? Tak potom jsou pro vás ECTOPLASMA jako stvoření. Jejich novinka sice rozhodně nepřináší nic nového, ale předkládá nám staré pořádky v death metalu takovým způsobem, že budete doslova uhranuti. Odkazy starých poctivých kapel, chorobný hlas, obrovské nasazení a zběsilost. Tohle všechno mě při novince "Skeletal Lifeforms" napadá. Procházíme se spolu s kapelou po starém pohřebišti, vyzvedáváme z hrobů alba z devadesátých let a přidáváme lehce modernější zvuk. Při poslechu je smrt tak blízko! Tančíme na hrobech s těmi nejkrásnějšími zombie. Old school death metal, který je prašivý, jako víko od staré rakve! Velmi dobře!

Few questions - interview with death metal band from Greece - Ectoplasma.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play , etc.?

Hails from Greece !!! We are Ectoplasma and we play death metal in the vein of our death metal masters such as Gutted, Baphomet, Autopsy, Judecca, Demigod, Death, Morta Skuld and more... We try to remain in the style of simple and raw brutality and nothing more. We started the band in the grip of winter of 2013.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

We recorded SKELETAL LIFEFORMS in Underground Studio at Nikaia City. Kyriakos Kontoven was in charge of the mixing and mastering with our participation of course. We recorded it quite rapidly without any obstacles and we are very satisfied that the result was genuine and archaic in the sound.

How many copies  were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

It was released in 100 tapes by Metal throne Prods and in 500 cds through Repulsive Echo.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

For all the lyrics Giannis Grim is responsible and the lyrical themes are about death, spectral entities, horror movies, gore and ghastly incidents. For example, Human Taxidermy is about a maniac who embalms his victims alive, Skeletal Lifeforms is about the armies of the dead who return to life as spectral skeletal entities to kill every christian hypocrite, Slain Meat For The Beast is influenced by the movie Nightbreed and preety much it describes a sacrifice to Baphomet, Awakened In The Coffin is talking about the burial of a man who finally was alive and wakes up in the coffin and starts suffocating and his soul is travelling to the dead until he dies and the soul finally finds the way for the underworld.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The logo was made by Gilian Adam who plays in a band called Vigilance. The truth is that we don’t promote the band every day through social media and we don’t have a personal website because all those money to maintain a site we prefer to use it in new recordings. But however we have a bandcamp and when we have to announce smth we use facebook.

Which label did you choose for releasing  your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

We are extremely satisfied with Metal Throne Prods who supported us since the beggining and of course we are very proud that we worked with Repulsive Echo Recs because Kostas Vaxevanos did and keeps doing a great work and promotion, he is a professional and he is not fooling around.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

As we said in the first question we love bands such as Gutted, Demigod, Baphomet, Morta Skuld, Morgoth, Autopsy, Necrophobic, Judecca etc and of course we are getting inspired from horror movies and real life incidents about psychopaths and killers and also situations that driving humans to do ghastly things.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

No we didn’t send our album to find a label because we already had a deal with Repulsive Echo Recs and Metal Throne Prods. 

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Until know we managed to play live 3 times here in some Greek clubs with other bands and we were satisfied a lot with our performance in every gig.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Our plans for now is to crush humanity with more live shows. And the great thing is that we just signed with Memento Mori Recs from Spain and we are going to prepare a new full length album to get sick and rot with it !!! The only achievement is to be active and play music. Nothing more, nothing less...
