Krvavé kořeny nejdou jen tak vytrhnout. Jsou naší součástí. Trávíme svůj život v katakombách a na starých pohřebištích. Death metal je naší životní filozofií i stylem. Alespoň tak vnímám hudbu já a myslím si že i kanadští IMMORTAL POSSESSION. Ti datují svůj vznik do devadesátých let minulého století. Vydali tenkrát několik demonahrávek. Letos přicházejí s prvním dlouhohrajícím albem.
Musím rovnou napsat, že mě deska "The Resurrectionist" doslova rozsekala. Jedná se totiž přesně o ten druh smrtícího kovu, který koluje i v mých žilách. Odkazy na základní kapely žánru tehdejší doby jsou sice patrné, ale přesto jsou Kanaďané svým způsobem originální a zajímaví. Je totiž slyšet, že hrají od srdce, s nadšením a odhodláním pro posmrtné věci člověka.
Zuřivost, vztek, chlad a nezbytná temnota jsou základem jejich skladeb. Ty jsou velmi dobře napsány, s takovým tím pradávným nadšením. Oceňuji prašivý zvuk i nádherný obal. Pohupuji se do rytmu, jako zkušený hrobník, který čeká, až rozmrzne zem, aby mohl exhumovat další hrob. Pohybuji se v záhrobí více než třicet let, rád a často ochutnávám zkažené maso. IMMORTAL POSSESSION mi předložili rakev plnou zajímavých melodií, drtivých pasáží a atmosféry pomalu hnijících těl. Prosévám mezi prsty prach svých předků a čtu si nápisy na náhrobcích. Kanaďanům patří dík už jenom za to, že jsem si při poslechu připadal zase jednou jako mladý šílenec, který se toulal s kazeťákem po ulicích. "The Resurrectionist" nám mohlo klidně hrát pořádně nahlas i tehdy. Pokaždé, když slyším podobnou skupinu, která se vrátila a která je daleko od mého domova, tak si říkám, jaká je škoda, že ji neuvidím v malém klubu někde na periferii. Skočil bych přímo do mosh-pitu. Songy jsou pro mě totiž velmi uvěřitelné, syrové, probouzejí ve mě staré démony. Já vím, nejedná se o nic nového, ani převratného, ale určitě to není jenom dobré řemeslo. Hudba tu má v sobě něco navíc, něco shnilého, co pochopí jen prokletí. Krvavé kořeny nejdou jen tak vytrhnout. Jsou naší součástí. Trávíme svůj život v katakombách a na starých pohřebištích. Old school death metal z plesnivých katakomb!

Bloody roots can't just be pulled out. They're part of us. We spend our lives in catacombs and old burial grounds. Death metal is our philosophy and our style of life. At least that's how I see music and I think Canadian IMMORTAL POSSESSION does too. They date back to the nineties of the last century. They released several demos back then. This year they come with their first full-length album.
I have to write right away that the album "The Resurrectionist" literally blew me away. It is exactly the kind of death metal that runs through my veins. The references to the basic bands of the genre of that time are obvious, but still the Canadians are original and interesting in their own way. You can hear that they play from the heart, with passion and commitment to the afterlife of man.
Fury, anger, coldness and the necessary darkness are the basis of their compositions. They are very well written, with that ancient enthusiasm. I appreciate the dusty sound and the gorgeous cover art. I sway to the rhythm, like an experienced gravedigger waiting for the ground to thaw so he can exhume another grave. I have moved in the beyond for more than thirty years, gladly and often tasting the rotten flesh. IMMORTAL POSSESSION presented me with a coffin full of interesting melodies, crushing passages and the atmosphere of slowly rotting bodies. I sift the dust of my ancestors between my fingers and read the inscriptions on the tombstones. I have to thank the Canadians just for the fact that listening to them made me feel like a young madman wandering the streets with a tape recorder once again. "The Resurrectionist" could have been played loudly even then. Every time I hear a band like this that's made a comeback and is far from my home, I think what a shame it is that I won't see them in a small club somewhere on the periphery. I'd jump right into a mosh pit. The songs are very believable to me, raw, they bring out old demons in me. I know, it's nothing new or groundbreaking, but it's definitely not just good craftsmanship. The music here has something extra, something rotten that only the damned can understand. The bloody roots can't just be pulled out. They're part of us. We spend our lives in catacombs and old burial grounds. Old school death metal from the moldy catacombs!
