Do kostí i do podvědomí se mi vkrádá pomalu chlad. Bojím se vlastního stínu. Probuzen uprostřed noci, zažívám další ze svých děsivých nočních můr. Pozvala mě moje vlastní smrt, provedla mě nekonečnými zákoutími podzemí, abychom nakonec skončili tady, na jednom dávno opuštěném pohřebišti v horách. Vykopu si vlastní hrob, připravím všechno v márnici a poslouchám u toho nové album chilských maniaků ROTTEN TOMB. Pozorní čtenáři našich stránek moc dobře vědí, že jsme se téhle smečce již několikrát věnovali. Máme dokonce i rozhovor. Vše najdete v odkazech dole pod dnešním článkem.
Pánové pokračují ve své morbidní práci. Nové letošní album je propracovanější než dřív. Je surové, ale zároveň v sobě obsahuje spoustu chladných a temných ingrediencí. Skladby jsou napsány s jediným účelem, pohřbít vás zaživa. Budete se zase jednou toulat spolu se mnou i s kapelou v nekonečných chodbách Hádovy říše a marně hledat světlo. Potkáte své vlastní démony.
"Vestiges of Tortured Souls" se mi pomalu dostalo pod kůži, do krve. Nejdříve na mě působilo album jako klubko jedovatých hadů, kteří se plazili u mých nohou, potom mě uhranulo, abych nakonec uštknut zemřel v šílených a velmi bolestivých křečích. Pánové sází i letos na kombinaci surových, ostrých melodií a domově prašivých pasáží, připomínajících nekonečné noci v márnicích. Výsledný koktejl považuji za velmi chutný, rád si s ním znovu a znovu připíjím na smrt. Jsem starý pes, který hlídá vstup do podsvětí již přes 35 let a poslouchám dávno jen hudbu, která mě osloví, která se mi líbí, u které dojde ke vzájemnému přenosu morbidních emocí. ROTTEN TOMB jsou jako šelma na lovu, která si hraje s kořistí, děsí ji, aby do ní nakonec zasekla svůj dráp. Tohle je hudba, která nejvíce vynikne v ruinách starých prokletých kostelů. Pokud se potom podíváme na formální stránku věci a budeme spolu hovořit o zvuku, o motivu na obalu, potom vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví, že vše je v nejlepším pořádku. Někdy mám při poslechu pocit, že jsem zavřený hluboko v podzemí, v plesnivé kobce a každý další riff je pro mě rezavým hřebem, který mi kapela zatlouká do hlavy. Mrzí mě snad jen jediné. Ještě jsem kapelu neviděl na koncertě. Musí to být masakr a troufám si tvrdit, že nové skladby budou zabíjet na potkání. Pokud jako já stále ctíte u kapel nejvíc opravdovost, dobře napsané motivy a k smrti milujete temnou a chladnou atmosféru, potom neváhejte ani chvilku. Hraje se zde i pro vás. The gentlemen continue their morbid work. This year’s new album is more polished than before. It’s raw, yet it contains plenty of cold and dark elements. The songs are written with a single purpose: to bury you alive. Once again, you’ll wander with me and the band through the endless corridors of Hades’ realm, searching in vain for light. You’ll encounter your own demons.
"Vestiges of Tortured Souls" slowly seeped under my skin, into my blood. At first, the album struck me like a nest of venomous snakes slithering at my feet; then it cast a spell on me, until I finally died from a bite, writhing in mad and excruciating convulsions. The guys are banking again this year on a combination of raw, sharp melodies and passages that reek of home, reminiscent of endless nights in morgues. I find the resulting cocktail very tasty; I gladly toast death with it again and again. I am an old dog who has been guarding the entrance to the underworld for over 35 years, and for a long time now I have listened only to music that speaks to me, that I like, and with which there is a mutual exchange of morbid emotions. ROTTEN TOMB are like a beast on the hunt, toying with its prey, terrifying it, only to finally sink its claws into it. This is music that stands out most in the ruins of old, cursed churches. If we then look at the formal side of things and talk about the sound, about the cover art, then I’ll gladly sign with my own blood that everything is in perfect order. Sometimes, when I listen to them, I feel like I’m locked deep underground in a moldy dungeon, and every new riff feels like a rusty nail the band is hammering into my head. There’s only one thing that bums me out: I haven’t seen them live yet. It must be a blast, and I’d go so far as to say that their new songs will be killer. If, like me, you still value authenticity and well-written themes above all else in a band, and you love a dark and cold atmosphere to death, then don’t hesitate for a second. This is for you, too. A slow chill is creeping into my bones and my subconscious. I fear my own shadow. Waking up in the middle of the night, I’m experiencing another of my terrifying nightmares. Sharp, wild, freezing, and infinitely dark death metal from cursed graveyards! An album that will transport you to the other side, to the land of bloody shadows!
