Někde daleko, hluboko v temných lesích Finska je stará plesnivá jeskyně. Když ji navštívíte, tak již u vstupu uslyšíte děsivý řev pradávné bestie. Touží po čerstvém mase. Vzduch je těžký a nasáklý hnilobou. Pod nohama vám křupou kosti, vybělené lebky se povalují všude kolem a ve vnitřnostech se vám usadí chlad. Jsou kapely, které když poslouchám, tak nejsem na tomto světě. Toulám se v záhrobí, mezi děsivými stíny, zdravím se s démony, kývám se do rytmu, užívám si mrtvolně morbidní atmosféru.
Kdo z nás bude další na řadě? Kdo bude roztrhán na kusy a sněden za živa? Psal jsem recenzi na předchozí album "Vermian Death" (odkaz naleznete dole pod dnešním článkem) a již tehdy jsem věděl, že jsme stejné krve, já i kapela. Baví mě morbidní atmosféra, kterou pánové dokáží pokaždé vytvořit. Pokaždé se vracím do svého mládí, na konec osmdesátých let minulého století. Nálady, zvuk i celkové vyznění jsou totiž u téhle smečky velmi podobné, jako tehdy. Maso mi zase jednou odpadává od kostí.
GRAVE HEX se i tentokrát vydali do toho nejhlubšího podzemí, aby načerpali inspiraci u kapel typu AUTOPSY, ABSCESS, UNDERGANG, MORBIFIC, DEMIGOD, PURTENANCE, FUNEBRE, ABHORRENCE. Nutno rovnou dodat, že to udělali velmi zkušeně a s elegancí starých hrobníků. Navíc přidali spoustu svých vlastních nápadů a invence. Výsledkem je koktejl, který musí zachutnat každému poctivému fanouškovi pohřbů do země. Skladby v sobě mají drive, pradávnou sílu, spoustu hniloby, jsou velmi dobře napsány. Mám pokaždé takovou tu těžko definovatelnou morbidní radost, když zapnu play na svém přehrávači. Těžko se to vysvětluje, ale staří psi jako jsem já, mi určitě dají za pravdu. Vždycky se mi líbila hudba, ze které cítím, že jí kapela věří, že hraje od srdce, že je opravdová, ryzí a hlavně autentická. Finové splnili i letos všechny mé nepsané požadavky pro to, abych se k jejich novému EP "Domain of Foul Rebirths" rád a často vracel. Současný podivný svět se možná otáčí zcela jiným směrem, ale mě je to jedno, raději se vydávám do temných lesů na severu, hledám prastarou jeskyni, ve které dlouhé roky sídlí bestie ze záhrobí. Potácím se tmou, nechávám na sebe jednotlivé motivy působit, užívám si riffy, melodie, údery bicích, řev. Umírám, znovu se rodím, neustále přidávám hlasitost, až na hranu snesitelnosti. Brodím se po kolena ve zkažené krvi. Rozdrásaný, roztrhaný, zničený. Přesně takový na mě má tohle EP účinek. Morbidní, shnilý, prašivý, temný a chladný death metal s příměsí zkažené krve! Smrt ve své nejkrutější a nejhnusnější podobě!

Somewhere far away, deep in the dark forests of Finland, lies an old, moldy cave. When you visit it, you’ll hear the terrifying roar of an ancient beast right at the entrance. It craves fresh flesh. The air is heavy and saturated with the stench of decay. Bones crunch beneath your feet, bleached skulls lie scattered all around, and a chill settles deep within you. There are bands that, when I listen to them, transport me out of this world. I wander through the underworld, among terrifying shadows, greeting demons, swaying to the rhythm, reveling in the deathly morbid atmosphere.
Who among us will be next? Who will be torn to pieces and eaten alive? I wrote a review of their previous album, “Vermian Death” (you’ll find the link below today’s article), and even then I knew that the band and I were cut from the same cloth. I love the morbid atmosphere these guys manage to create every time. It always takes me back to my youth, to the late 1980s. The mood, the sound, and the overall vibe of this pack are very similar to what they were back then. Once again, the flesh is falling off my bones.
Once again, GRAVE HEX ventured into the deepest underground to draw inspiration from bands like AUTOPSY, ABSCESS, UNDERGANG, MORBIFIC, DEMIGOD, PURTENANCE, FUNEBRE, and ABHORRENCE. It must be said right away that they did so with great skill and the elegance of old gravediggers. On top of that, they added plenty of their own ideas and creativity. The result is a cocktail that’s sure to appeal to every true fan of burial themed music. The songs possess drive, ancient power, and plenty of decay and they’re very well written. I always feel that hard-to-define morbid joy whenever I hit play on my music player. It’s hard to explain, but old-timers like me will surely agree. I’ve always loved music where I can feel that the band believes in it, that they’re playing from the heart, that it’s genuine, pure, and above all, authentic. This year, the Finns have once again met all my unspoken criteria for me to happily and frequently return to their new EP, "Domain of Foul Rebirths". This strange world of ours may be heading in a completely different direction, but I don’t care I’d rather venture into the dark forests of the north, searching for an ancient cave where a beast from beyond the grave has dwelled for many years. I stagger through the darkness, letting the individual elements wash over me, savoring the riffs, melodies, drum beats, and screams. I die, I’m reborn, constantly turning up the volume until it’s at the edge of what I can bear. I wade knee-deep in rotten blood. Torn, shredded, destroyed. That’s exactly the effect this EP has on me. Morbid, rotten, mangy, dark, and cold death metal mixed with tainted blood! Death in its cruelest and most hideous form!
