Určitě všichni znáte takový ten neodbytný pocit, že vás někdo sleduje. Jdete velmi brzy ráno do práce, ulice jsou plné beznaděje, včerejší nenávisti a těžkého smogu.

Přesně takový pocit mám i z nové nahrávky francouzských maniaků MORGUE.

Oběšení, utopení, zabití nožem i střelnou zbraní. Vyděšené tváře, postavy, kdysi živé, dnes připomínající děsivé loutky. Z reproduktorů hraje "Herald The Dawn" a svět je zase jednou hodně těžké místo k žití. Těmto prokletým Francouzům věřím každý tón, melodii, riff, každý úder bicích i výkřik do tmy. Temnota, chlad a děsivá energie!

Asphyx says:

I’m sure you’re all familiar with that nagging feeling that someone is watching you. You’re walking to work very early in the morning; the streets are filled with despair, yesterday’s hatred, and thick smog. You look back and are startled by your own shadow. A hooded figure, a flash of a knife, a slit throat. The last thing you see in this world is a venomous smile on their face. The city falls silent but only for a moment; the next victim is next in line.

That’s exactly the feeling I get from the new album by the French maniacs MORGUE. Regular readers of our site know very well that I’ve already written about this death metal band twice. Both of their previous albums still hold a place of honor in my collection. And just like this year’s new release, they captivated me mainly with their morbid, bloody, and endlessly dark atmosphere. Who will be the next victim? A killer is roaming the streets.

Listening to the new album reminds me of visiting some bizarre gallery. In each exhibit, mutilated bodies are displayed in various stages of decomposition. Hanged, drowned, killed by knife or gunshot. Terrified faces, figures that were once alive but now resemble terrifying puppets. “Herald The Dawn” is playing through the speakers, and once again, the world is a very difficult place to live. Both gentlemen drew inspiration from old archives; they toy with grim moods like a predator with its prey. They’ll step on your neck, blow your brains out, hang you on hooks and you’ll still be smiling, because this is classic and brutal death metal of the highest quality, with grindcore elements, but above all with an incredible and pure desire to kill through music. This is, of course, the deepest underground, but at the same time a recording that is incredibly authentic. I love the massive and sharp sound (P.E. Marillier - mixing, mastering), and there’s no need to discuss the cover art by the master Paolo Girardi you can rely on his work like you can rely on death itself. The relationship between the listener and the band is different every time. I’m one of those fans who mainly listen to and enjoy bands that I feel are playing from the heart. I believe every note, melody, riff, every drumbeat, and every scream into the darkness from these damned Frenchmen. They awaken my most hideous nightmares, draw me into their dark game, and quite often I feel like a direct participant in the horror story they’ve written. Every time I head to work in the morning and fog hangs in the streets, I look over my shoulder. I play this album and have the nagging feeling that someone is standing in the shadows. Maybe they’re holding a knife. Brutal death metal and grindcore in an advanced state of decay! An album that will make you rot from the inside out and tear you to pieces! Darkness, cold, and terrifying energy!
