Někde tam ve tmě, hluboko v podzemí, spí bestie ze starých časů. Kolují o ní legendy, které ve svých dílech krásně morbidně sepsal H.P. Lovercraft. I teď, po mnoha letech, je v těchto příbězích něco děsivého, strašidelného, něco, co vám způsobí tuhnutí krve v žilách. Jsem moc rád, že stále existují kapely, které dokáží svojí hudbou tuhle morbidně hnisavou atmosféru znázornit. Nové album francouzských SKAPHOS mám doma na recenzi již poměrně dlouho.
V tomto případě platí více než kdy jindy, že jsem raději poslouchal, nechal se unášet na krvavých vlnách řeky beznaděje, že jsem stále přidával hlasitost, užíval si ten neklid, než abych psal nějaké slova. Cítil jsem mráz v zádech, chvění ve vnitřnostech a hlavně jsem slyšel hudbu, které je mému srdci vlastní. Kombinace black a death metalu vždy dělala dobře mé prokleté duši. Vítejte v děsivém světě morbidních představ.
Pokud si odmyslím perfektní zvuk celé nahrávky, pokud se nebudu dívat na jako vždy velmi povedený motiv na obalu od mistra Paolo Girardiho, zůstane mi na kost ohlodaná hudba s podmanivě temnou atmosférou. Jako by kolem mě zhasla všechna světla a svět se ponořil do nekonečné temnoty. Z chodeb podsvětí slyším řev bestie. Je něco neotřelého, zajímavého a neklidného, co mě stále k nahrávce přitahuje. Skladby jsou totiž velmi dobře napsány, mají v sobě drive i potřebnou sílu. Ostré riffy, syrové melodie, zničující bicí, tohle všechno je zahaleno do pevných chladných pavučin. SKAPHOS nahráli album, které není jen dalším obyčejným počinem v řadě, ale spíše smrtící symfonii, poskládanou z tisíců odstínů černé a šedé barvy. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako BELPHEGOR, MGLA, DEAD CONGREGATION, SHRINE OF DENIAL a další pokrevní tmáře, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Jakoby mi někdo stál po celou dobu poslechu těžkou okovanou botou na prsou. Kolem mých nohou se plazí jedovatí hadi, postupně mě uhranou, abych nakonec pomalu umíral s jejich krutým jedem v žilách. S hudbou těchto francouzských tmářů je to velmi podobné. Probouzí ve mě spoustu podivných temných představ, stala se mojí součástí, podmanila si mě. Jakoby celý svět kolem mě zčernal a mraky se dotýkaly země. Také cítíte napětí ve vzduchu? Jako před bouřkou? Potom těžký vzduch prořízne první riff. Jsem ztracen, přiznávám a album si neskutečně užívám. Z mlhy vystupují postavy bez tváře. Jsou to vaši vlastní démoni. Někde tam ve tmě, hluboko v podzemí, spí bestie ze starých časů. Pradávný, temný a chladný rituál black death metalové smrti! Všichni se ztratíme v krvavé mlze! Album, které se vám dostane až do morku kostí!

Somewhere out there in the darkness, deep underground, sleeps a beast from ancient times. Legends circulate about it, beautifully and morbidly written by H.P. Lovecraft in his works. Even now, after many years, there is something terrifying and frightening in these stories, something that makes your blood run cold. I am very glad that there are still bands that can portray this morbid, festering atmosphere with their music. I have had the new album by French band SKAPHOS at home for review for quite some time now.
In this case, more than ever, I preferred to listen, let myself be carried away on the bloody waves of the river of despair, turning up the volume, enjoying the unease, rather than writing any words. I felt a chill down my spine, a tremor in my guts, and above all, I heard music that is close to my heart. The combination of black and death metal has always done my cursed soul good. Welcome to the terrifying world of morbid imaginings.
If I disregard the perfect sound quality of the entire recording, if I don't look at the cover art by master Paolo Girardi, which is as always very well done, what remains is music with a captivatingly dark atmosphere. It's as if all the lights around me have gone out and the world has plunged into endless darkness. From the corridors of the underworld, I hear the roar of a beast. There is something unusual, interesting, and unsettling that keeps drawing me to the recording. The songs are very well written, with drive and the necessary power. Sharp riffs, raw melodies, devastating drums - all of this is shrouded in solid, cold cobwebs. SKAPHOS have recorded an album that is not just another ordinary work in a series, but rather a deadly symphony composed of thousands of shades of black and gray. If you like bands such as BELPHEGOR, MGLA, DEAD CONGREGATION, SHRINE OF DENIAL, and other bloodthirsty dark bands, don't hesitate for a moment. It's as if someone were standing on my chest with a heavy iron boot the entire time I was listening. Poisonous snakes crawl around my feet, gradually bewitching me, so that I slowly die with their cruel venom in my veins. The music of these French darklings is very similar. It awakens a lot of strange dark images in me, it has become a part of me, it has conquered me. It's as if the whole world around me has turned black and the clouds are touching the ground. Can you also feel the tension in the air? Like before a storm? Then the first riff cuts through the heavy air. I am lost, I admit, and I am enjoying the album immensely. Faceless figures emerge from the fog. They are your own demons. Somewhere out there in the darkness, deep underground, beasts from ancient times slumber. An ancient, dark, and cold ritual of black death metal death! We will all be lost in the bloody fog! An album that will get under your skin!
