Zůstává za ním spousta mrtvých. Utrpení a bolest, které jej mohou vykoupit. Ale za jakou cenu? Umírají nevinní, číhá na ně v temných uličkách, pozoruje je ze stínu. S nabroušeným nožem v ruce. Slibovali mu věčný život, ale musel zabíjet. Nikdy by nevěřil, že si v tom najde zalíbení. Dívat se do očí umírajících obětí, tomu se nevyrovná nic jiného. Pohltila jej navždy temnota. Uléhal do vlastní rakve a čekal, až se setmí. Poslouchal jenom hororový death metal.
O norských HORRIFIER jsem již jednou psal. Předchozí album (odkaz na recenzi najdete pod dnešním článkem) jsem si užíval. Jako dobrý, klasický film na VHS kazetě z osmdesátých let minulého století. Pánové i letos dali průchod své morbidní fantazii a vyprávějí nám příběh prokletého muže, který proto, aby neumřel, tak musí zabíjet. Téma se zde opět velmi zajímavě, naléhavě, přesvědčivě a autenticky potkává s hudbou. Výsledný koktejl je jedovatý a chutná po zkažené krvi.
Brával jsem si nové album s sebou na mé noční toulky městem. Stíny byly dlouhé, v uličkách se odehrávaly nekalé činy a pokaždé mé kroky skončily na místním hřbitově. V jedné části jsou pochováni oběti násilných činů a když jsem zapnul play na svém přehrávači, tak jsem měl pocit, že se mnou rozmlouvají. Skladby jsou napsány velmi zajímavě, působí naléhavě a nejdřív se kolem mě plazily jako jedovatí hadi. Uhranuly mě, strhly do hlubiny a já najednou nevěděl, co je noční můra, děsivý sen a co krutá realita. Riffy jsou zde ohlodané na kost, bicí zabíjejí na potkání a hlas připomíná řev hladové bestie. Byly splněny veškeré mé požadavky na dobrý death metal. HORRIFIER jsou ve skvělé formě a jejich letošní album má slova potvrzuje. Pokud máte chuť na muziku ve stylu AUTOPSY, REPULSION, ENTOMBED, potom věřte, že jste zde správně. "Revelations of Gore" je nahrávkou, u které potkáte své vlastní démony, zástupy nemrtvých, zmizíte z tohoto světa a zavřeni v záhrobí budete navěky trpět veškerou možnou bolestí. Zmínit musím i velmi povedený zvuk, který je masivní, dobře čitelný a řeže tou správnou stranou nože. Atmosféra, kterou se letos Norům povedlo navodit, je zcela pohlcující. S chutí se vždy podívám i na stylový motiv na obalu. Kapela se trefila na sto procent do mého vkusu, hrozně se mi líbí takové ty až doomové chvilky morbidní poezie, které ze skladeb odkapávají jako krev z čerstvé rány. Až zase jednou půjdete noční ulicí, tak si dávejte velký pozor. Stíny jsou plné zabijáků, toužících po čerstvém mase. Je něco přitažlivého, zlého, neskutečně chladného, co mě stále nutí se k letošní desce vracet. Připadám si, jako bych právě odcházel z kina, kde jsem právě zhlédl děsivý film. V mé mysli i v realitě se stal hnisavou skutečností. Zůstává za ním spousta mrtvých. Utrpení a bolest, které jej může vykoupit. Ale za jakou cenu? Hororový, morbidní, temný a nekonečně chladný death metal, ze kterého odkapává zkažená krev! Zlo číhá ve stínu!

I’ve written about the Norwegian band HORRIFIER once before. I really enjoyed their previous album (you’ll find a link to the review below today’s article). It was like a good, classic movie on a VHS tape from the 1980s. This year, the guys have once again given free rein to their morbid imagination and tell us the story of a cursed man who must kill in order to avoid dying. Here, the theme once again intersects with the music in a very interesting, urgent, convincing, and authentic way. The resulting cocktail is poisonous and tastes of rotten blood.
I used to take the new album with me on my nighttime wanderings through the city. The shadows were long, nefarious deeds were taking place in the alleys, and my steps always led me to the local cemetery. In one section, the victims of violent crimes are buried, and when I pressed play on my music player, I felt as if they were speaking to me. The songs are written in a very intriguing way; they feel urgent, and at first they slithered around me like venomous snakes. They bewitched me, dragged me into the depths, and suddenly I didn’t know what was a nightmare, a terrifying dream, and what was cruel reality. The riffs are stripped down to the bone, the drums kill everything in their path, and the vocals resemble the roar of a hungry beast. All my expectations for good death metal have been met. HORRIFIER are in top form, and this year’s album confirms it. If you’re in the mood for music in the style of AUTOPSY, REPULSION, or ENTOMBED, then trust me you’ve come to the right place. “Revelations of Gore” is a record where you’ll encounter your own demons and hordes of the undead; you’ll vanish from this world and, trapped in the afterlife, suffer every conceivable pain for all eternity. I must also mention the excellent sound, which is massive, clear, and cuts like a knife. The atmosphere the Norwegians have managed to create this year is completely immersive. I always enjoy taking a look at the stylish cover art as well. This band is exactly my kind of thing I really love those almost doom-like moments of morbid poetry that drip from the songs like blood from a fresh wound. The next time you walk down a street at night, be very careful. The shadows are full of killers craving fresh flesh. There’s something alluring, evil, and incredibly cold about it that keeps drawing me back to this year’s album. I feel like I’m just leaving a movie theater after watching a terrifying film. In my mind and in reality, it has become a festering reality. It leaves a trail of the dead in its wake. Suffering and pain that might redeem it. But at what cost? The innocent die; he lies in wait for them in dark alleys, watching them from the shadows. With a sharpened knife in his hand. They promised him eternal life, but he had to kill. Horror-filled, morbid, dark, and infinitely cold death metal, dripping with corrupted blood! Evil lurks in the shadows!
