Potkáváš je v temných ulicích, na opuštěných hřbitovech i v běžném životě. Vždy stojí ve stínu, s tváří ukrytou, s jedovatým úsměvem na tváři, s touhou po čerstvé krvi. Někdy na sebe berou podobu milých, příjemných lidí, jindy vypadají jako nestvůry z nočním můr. Krmí se bolestí, strachem, rádi sedávají na místech, na kterých se stalo něco zlého, ohavného. Tentokrát vystoupili z krvavé mlhy. Tví vlastní démoni, kteří tě provázejí od narození. Nezbývá, než je pozvat dál, ke společnému stolu. Nic jiného ti stejně nezbývá. Je tu nové album holandských SOULBURN a moje mysl i tělo jsou opět rozdrásány do krve.
Jsem věrný fanoušek, který k smrti miluje atmosféru starých alb a který se vždy těší na další novinku od těchto maniaků. Kapela má svůj jasný, rozpoznatelný a typický rukopis. Dokáže být surová i krutá, hraje si s temnými a chladnými náladami jako šelma se svojí kořistí. Zároveň dokáže do skladeb vložit zvláštní, tajemnou, velmi podmanivou a melancholickou náladu. U nového alba se budete procházet špinavými ulicemi, navštívíte katakomby, opuštěná pohřebiště, i ruiny, ve kterých přebývají ti nejděsivější démoni.
Nové album je ukováno z těch nejkvalitnějších surovin. Základem je prašivý, starý death metal, přidávány jsou potom mrazivé black metalové a záhadně bolestivé doomové ingredience. Pokaždé, když začnu "Quantifying Cosmic Doom" poslouchat, tak mám pocit, že čerpám energii odněkud z jiné, neuchopitelné dimenze. Jako bych byl napojen na něco velkého, majestátního, co nemůžu uchopit, ani definovat. Jsou to právě tyto magické chvíle, které dělají z nové nahrávky epesní dílo. U každé hudby, se kterou se setkám a mám o ní napsat pár skromných slov, tak hodnotím hlavně to, jestli je opravdová, zahraná od srdce, jestli mohu kapele její morbidní práci věřit a jestli je autentická. SOULBURN splňují veškeré mé požadavky, mají skvělý, dobře čitelný a zároveň řezající zvuk, zajímavý, děsivě zapamatovatelný motiv na obalu, ale hlavně přicházejí s muzikou, která je svým způsobem jiná, zajímavá a kterou mě baví poslouchat stále dokola. Jednotlivé motivy mi pronikají postupně do krve, zadírají se pod kůži i do podvědomí. Jsou to ty krásné chvíle v mém životě, kdy jsem něčeho součástí, kdy ke mě hudba promlouvá, rezonuje celým mým tělem i myslí. Holanďané se nebojí ani lehce, v rámci předkládaných stylů, ale o to přesvědčivěji, experimentovat. Každé nové setkání s letošní deskou je pro mě zážitkem, ve kterém objevuji nové odstíny i zákoutí. Připadá mi a myslím si, že mi to všichni potvrdíte, že jsou pánové ve skvělé formě a opět nám dokázali, že patří mezi jména, která jsou již dávno zapsána krvavým písmem do knihy mrtvých. I am a loyal fan who loves the atmosphere of their old albums to death and who always looks forward to the next release from these maniacs. The band has its own distinct, recognizable, and signature style. It can be raw and brutal, playing with dark and cold moods like a beast with its prey. At the same time, it manages to infuse the songs with a strange, mysterious, deeply captivating, and melancholic atmosphere. On the new album, you’ll wander through dirty streets, visit catacombs, abandoned graveyards, and ruins inhabited by the most terrifying demons.
The new album is forged from the finest raw materials. It’s built on a foundation of raw, old-school death metal, with chilling black metal and mysteriously painful doom metal elements added to the mix. Every time I start listening to "Quantifying Cosmic Doom", I feel like I’m drawing energy from somewhere in another, intangible dimension. It’s as if I’m connected to something grand and majestic that I can’t grasp or define. It is precisely these magical moments that make the new album a masterpiece. With every piece of music I encounter and am asked to write a few humble words about, I mainly evaluate whether it’s genuine, played from the heart, whether I can trust the band’s morbid work, and whether it’s authentic. SOULBURN meets all my criteria; they have a great, clear, and at the same time cutting sound, an interesting, terrifyingly memorable motif on the cover, but most importantly, they deliver music that is, in its own way, different, interesting, and that I enjoy listening to over and over again. The individual motifs gradually seep into my blood, burrowing under my skin and into my subconscious. These are those beautiful moments in my life when I’m part of something, when the music speaks to me, resonating through my entire body and mind. The Dutch aren’t afraid to experiment even slightly, within the presented styles but all the more convincingly for it. Every new encounter with this year’s album is an experience for me, in which I discover new nuances and hidden corners. It seems to me and I think you’ll all agree that these gentlemen are in top form and have once again proven to us that they belong among the names long since inscribed in blood in the Book of the Dead.
