Už dávno vím, že existuje i jiný svět, než je ten náš, zkažený. Říkejte mu klidně peklo nebo třeba temná dimenze, je to vlastně jedno. Hlavní pro mě vždycky bylo, aby hudba, která odtud pochází měla v sobě sílu, tlak a energii. Aby se mi líbil obsah i dobré nápady. Toulám se záhrobím skoro 35 let a rád ochutnávám zkažené maso. O démonech HEXELLA z Texasu slyším poprvé. Není divu, kapela hraje teprve od roku 2019. Sedl jsem si tedy do svého sklepa, ve kterém mám reproduktory. Zhasl jsem všechna světla a nechal na sebe muziku jen tak působit.
První co se stalo, bylo to, že se moje mysl začala vracet po časové ose zpět. Do osmdesátých let minulého století. Měl jsem čest jako mladý konec toto prašivé období zažít. Tehdy se formoval i můj náhled na hudbu jako takovou. Možná právě proto mi debutové album "The Ancient Gaping Mouth" proniklo ihned do žil. Kurva, to je ono, křičel jsem do tmy a neustále přidával hlasitost.
Základem je zde klasický black metal, krvavé kořeny jsou slyšet opravdu z každé skladby. Nalezneme zde ale i tradiční rockové, d-beatové příměsi. Zkrátka a dobře, jedná se přesně o takový ten druh plesnivé hudby, kterou uslyšíte poprvé a ihned si ji oblíbíte. Důvody se samy nabízí. Kapela totiž předkládá to, co dnes mnozí zcela postrádají. Mají velmi kvalitní prašivý zvuk, produkci, zajímavý motiv na obalu, ale hlavně! - jsou uvěřitelní, opravdoví, realističtí, autentičtí. HEXELLA hrají srdcem, já jím poslouchám, je tedy jasné, že se k téhle nahrávce budu ještě hodně dlouho vracet. Kolem vyšlo spousta zajímavých alb, ale já zkrátka znovu a znovu sahám po "The Ancient Gaping Mouth". Když jdu ráno do práce, skrz špinavé a neutěšené město, když nemůžu v noci spát a moje kroky vedou (jak jinak) na místní hřbitov. Byl jsem kdysi dávno, ve svém mládí prokletý a zůstalo mi to dodnes. Já potřebuji každý den svoji dávku morbidní muziky, jinak bych v dnešním podivném a zkaženém světě nepřežil. Už dávno vím, že peklo existuje, že jsou démoni, že prokletí nakonec vždycky zvítězí. Jen si tak říkám, že je škoda, že kapelu asi neuvidím nikdy naživo. Podle mě to totiž musí být skvělý zážitek. Ta energie, tlak, nahrubo nasekaná tma, všechna ta zkažená karma, musí být na koncertech ještě víc hmatatelné. Třeba se někdy zadaří a kapela přijede i na turné po Evropě. Zatím se večer, až zhasnu všechna světla, opět nechám unášet na krvavých zpěněných vlnách řeky smrti. Do jiných, děsivějších světů, na druhou, odvrácenou stranu, do země nekonečných stínů. Pokud máte tenhle styl rádi, nemohu jinak, než vám album doporučit. Pro mě osobně se stalo velkým překvapením letošního roku. Už dávno vím, že existuje i jiný svět, než je ten náš, zkažený. Říkejte mu klidně peklo nebo třeba temná dimenze, je to vlastně jedno. Starodávná, prašivá, divoká a nespoutaná definice black metalového pekla! Poklekni a nech se strhnout do hlubiny!

I have known for a long time that there is another world besides ours, which is corrupt. Call it hell or a dark dimension, it doesn't really matter. The main thing for me has always been that the music that comes from there has power, pressure, and energy. That I like the content and the good ideas. I've been wandering the underworld for almost 35 years and I like to taste rotten meat. This is the first time I've heard of the demons HEXELLA from Texas. No wonder, the band has only been playing since 2019. So I sat down in my basement, where I have my speakers. I turned off all the lights and just let the music wash over me.
The first thing that happened was that my mind began to travel back in time. To the 1980s. I had the honor of experiencing the end of that rotten period as a young man. That's when my view of music as such was formed. Maybe that's why the debut album "The Ancient Gaping Mouth" immediately got under my skin. Fuck, that's it, I shouted into the darkness and kept turning up the volume.
The foundation here is classic black metal, with bloody roots audible in every song. However, we also find traditional rock and d-beat influences. In short, this is exactly the kind of moldy music that you hear for the first time and immediately fall in love with. The reasons are obvious. The band offers something that many today completely lack. They have a very high-quality raw sound, production, an interesting cover design, but most importantly, they are credible, genuine, realistic, and authentic. HEXELLA plays with heart, and I listen with heart, so it's clear that I will be returning to this recording for a long time to come. There have been a lot of interesting albums released, but I just keep coming back to "The Ancient Gaping Mouth". When I go to work in the morning, through the dirty and bleak city, when I can't sleep at night and my steps lead me (how else?) to the local cemetery. I was cursed long ago, in my youth, and it has stayed with me to this day. I need my daily dose of morbid music, otherwise I wouldn't survive in today's strange and corrupt world. I've known for a long time that hell exists, that demons exist, that curses always win in the end. I just think it's a shame that I'll probably never see the band live. I think it must be a great experience. The energy, the pressure, the roughly chopped darkness, all that corrupt karma, must be even more tangible at concerts. Maybe someday the band will come on tour in Europe. For now, when I turn off all the lights in the evening, I will once again let myself be carried away on the bloody, foaming waves of the river of death. To other, more terrifying worlds, to the other, dark side, to the land of endless shadows. If you like this style, I can't help but recommend the album to you. For me personally, it was a big surprise this year. I have known for a long time that there is another world besides ours, which is corrupt. Call it hell or a dark dimension, it doesn't really matter. An ancient, filthy, wild, and unrestrained definition of black metal hell! Kneel and let yourself be swept into the depths!
