Vždycky jsi byl v jeho přítomnosti neklidný. Měl hezkou tvář a neustále se usmíval. Nejdříve si přes jeho milá slova faleš nepoznal. Lidé ho měli rádi. Obdivovali jej. Takový slušný člověk, říkali o něm. Jakmile za sebou zavřel dveře svého domova, stala se z něj bestie. Posedli jej démoni a pokrmem mu byla jenom bolest, strach a nenávist. Nakonec zemřel rukou svých blízkých. A na pohřeb mu nikdo nepřišel.

Podobných příběhů jsem četl poslední dobou velké množství. Jakoby lidstvo zasáhla nějaká starodávná choroba. Poslouchal jsem novou desku německých DISBELIEF a přemýšlel jsem, kde se v nás bere temnota. Nové album je velmi naléhavé, svým způsobem brutální, melodické a nepostrádá ani chladnou a doomovou atmosféru. Kapela se vrátila po čtyřech letech, aby nám opět ukázala, že je ve skvělé formě. Démoni opravdu existují. 


Psát o kapelách s podobně dlouhou a pestrou historií, je pro mě vždy náročné. Jako starý fanoušek mám v sobě přeci jen pokoru a úctu před jejich hudbou. Líbí se mi, že DISBELIEF nesází jenom na jistotu, na ověřené postupy. Naopak, vyvíjejí se,  jsou stále zajímaví. Ve skladbách je velké množství temné energie. Zkušenosti se projevují v základních věcech, jako je masivní zvuk (Kai Stahlenberg - mastering, mixing, recording) a parádní obal (Stefan Todorovic), na kterém jeden z děsivých démonů je. Naleznete zde vše, co máme na těchto maniacích všichni tolik rádi. Starý death metal v jeho tradiční podobě, nahrubo nasekaný thrash metal i sludgeové pasáže. Jako celek potom album žhne i chladí zároveň. Zmínit musím i jako vždy vynikajícího Karstena Jägera, jehož vokál je jasným rozpoznávacím znamením kapely. Přiznám se, že jsem jel na dlouhou cestu vlakem. Nasadil jsem si sluchátka, vyhledal v přehrávači "Killing Karma" a najednou jsem byl zcela mimo tenhle svět. Nahrávka mě doslova pohltila, zasekla do mě svůj dráp a od té doby mě nepustila. Hrozně rád se k ní vracím, pamatuji si jednotlivé motivy, líbí se mi dramaturgie celé desky, jak postupně graduje, jak kolem mě létají pochmurné a tajemné nálady, jako můry kolem světla. Nakonec padají k zemi, spálené na popel. Až jednou potkáte podobného člověka, jako o něm píšu v úvodu dnešního článku, pusťte mu tohle album. Uvidíte jeho pravé já. Vždycky jsi byl v jeho přítomnosti neklidný. Měl hezkou tvář a neustále se usmíval. Nejdříve si přes jeho milá slova faleš nepoznal. Lidé ho měli rádi. Obdivovali jej. Takový slušný člověk, říkali o něm. Jakmile za sebou zavřel dveře svého domova, stala se z něj bestie. Novinka je nastaveným zrcadlem všem démonům. Death thrash metalový opus, který vás rozdrásá do krve!

You were always uneasy around him. He had a pretty face and a smile all the time. At first, you didn't recognize the fake despite his kind words. People liked him. They admired him. Such a decent man, they said of him. As soon as he closed the door of his home behind him, he became a beast. He was possessed by demons and fed only on pain, fear and hatred. In the end, he died at the hands of his loved ones. And no one came to his funeral.

I've been reading a lot of stories like this lately. It's as if some ancient disease has struck mankind. I was listening to the new album by the German DISBELIEF and wondered where the darkness in us comes from. The new album is very urgent, brutal in its way, melodic and doesn't lack a cold and doom atmosphere. The band is back after four years to show us once again that they are in great shape. Demons really exist. 


Writing about bands with similarly long and varied histories is always challenging for me. After all, as an old fan, I have a humility and respect for their music. I like the fact that DISBELIEF doesn't just rely on certainty, on tried and tested methods. On the contrary, they evolve, they are always interesting. There is a lot of dark energy in the songs. The experience shows in basic things like the massive sound (Kai Stahlenberg - mastering, mixing, recording) and the awesome cover art (Stefan Todorovic), which features one of the scary demons. Here you will find everything we all love so much about these maniacs. Old death metal in its traditional form, rough chopped thrash metal and sludge passages. As a whole, the album both glows and cools at the same time. I must also mention the always excellent Karsten Jäger, whose vocals are a clear hallmark of the band. I confess that I took a long train journey. I put on my headphones, searched for "Killing Karma" in the player and suddenly I was completely out of this world. The record literally swallowed me up, stuck its claw into me and hasn't let go since. I love coming back to it, I remember the individual motifs, I like the dramaturgy of the whole record, how it gradually graduates, how gloomy and mysterious moods fly around me, like moths around a light. Eventually they fall to the ground, burnt to ashes. When you meet someone like the man I write about in the opening of today's article, give this album a listen. You'll see the real him. You were always uneasy in his presence. He had a handsome face and was always smiling. At first, you couldn't tell the fake through his kind words. People liked him. They admired him. Such a decent man, they said of him. As soon as he closed the door of his home behind him, he became a beast. The novelty is a mirror held up to all demons. A death thrash metal opus that will rip your blood!

Z nedaleké továrny unikla před lety jedovatá látka. Lidé začali pomalu umírat. Slezly jim vlasy, odpadávalo maso od kostí a ve vnitřnostech měli sněť. Jejich hroby byly označeny rudou barvou, aby bylo všem jasné, že jednoho dne se znovu vrátí a sežerou nás všechny zaživa. Smrt není konec, ale teprve začátek. Ví to všechny zombie z našeho města, ví to i americká death metalová kapela TOMBSTONER.

Jakmile jsem se dozvěděl, že kapela vydává své druhé dlouhohrající album, musel jsem jej mít ve své sbírce. Předchozí nahrávka "Victims of Vile Torture" (2021) totiž hnila dlouhou dobu i v mém přehrávači (recenze je odkazována dole pod článkem). Opět se jedná o hrubý a surový smrtící kov, u kterého se pokaždé vydáte na hřbitov. Usednete pod staleté stromy a budete čekat na první ruku, která se objeví v nejbližším hrobě. Bude kostnatá a bude držet v rukou tuhle desku. 


Jedná se o klasický, tradiční masakr, přesně ve stylu, v jakém to mám moc rád. Album je opatřeno velmi dobrým zvukem, zajímavým obalem (který mě samozřejmě inspiroval k úvodu recenze). To by ale bylo v dnešní době málo. Američané přinášejí ještě něco navíc. Poctivou porci temné energie. Je to old school, ale velmi dobře zahraný a s přidanou hodnotou navíc. Zkrátka a dobře, k nahrávce jsem se opět velmi rád vracel. Má v sobě nasekané kusy syrového masa, pradávné choroby i neskutečný tlak, který mě nutí neustále kroutit hlavou do rytmu. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako SKINLAB, CANNIBAL CORPSE, NAPALM DEATH, CREEPING DEATH, FROUZEN SOUL a další podobné maniaky, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Navíc, v dnešní době nevíte, jaké chemické látky se vám dostávají do těla. Budete tak připraveni na smrt v její hrozivé podobě. Postupný rozklad tkání, riffy ostré jako břitva, mocný vokál, bicí, které vám vystřelí mozek z hlavy. Už teď se těším, až bude pátek a vylezu z továrny. Určitě se půjdu podívat na skládku toxického odpadu. Dám si nějaké to pivo a budu tuhle desku poslouchat stále dokola. Klidně by mohla být opatřena vysokou známkou kvality. Alespoň tak to slyším já, i všichni nemrtví, kteří se mnou ještě nedávno pracovali. Setkáváme se kousek za městem a díváme se na oblak síry, který stoupá z komínů. Jednou bude i naším koncem. Než se tak ale stane, budu si rvát album "Rot Stink Rip" pod tlakem do hlavy. Pánové opět odvedli skvělou morbidní práci. Dávám uříznutý palec nahoru. Smrt není konec, ale teprve začátek. Zničující death metalový útok těch nejkrvelačnějších zombie! Nahrubo nasekaná tma a energie!

A nearby factory leaked a poisonous substance years ago. People started dying slowly. Their hair was falling out, flesh was falling off their bones, and there was anthrax in their guts. Their graves were marked with red paint to make it clear that one day they would come back and eat us all alive. Death is not the end, but only the beginning. All the zombies in our town know it, and so does the American death metal band TOMBSTONER.

As soon as I heard that the band was releasing their second full-length album, I had to have it in my collection. The previous record "Victims of Vile Torture" (2021) was rotting in my player for a long time (the review is linked below the article). Again, this is rough and raw death metal that will have you heading for the graveyard every time. You sit under centuries old trees and wait for the first hand to appear in the nearest grave. She'll be bony and holding this slab.


It is a classic, traditional massacre, exactly in the style I like it very much. The album has a very good sound, interesting cover art (which of course inspired me to start the review). But that wouldn't be enough nowadays. The Americans bring something more. A fair portion of dark energy. It's old school, but very well played and with added value. In short, I was very happy to come back to the record again. It's got chopped up chunks of raw meat, ancient diseases and an incredible pressure that makes me constantly shake my head to the beat. If you like bands like SKINLAB, CANNIBAL CORPSE, NAPALM DEATH, CREEPING DEATH, FROUZEN SOUL and other such maniacs, then don't hesitate a moment. Plus, nowadays you don't know what chemicals are getting into your body. You will thus be prepared for death in its terrible form. Gradual tissue decomposition, razor sharp riffs, powerful vocals, drums that will blow your brains out. I can't wait till Friday when I come out of the factory. I'm definitely going to go check out the toxic waste dump. I'm gonna have a beer and listen to this record over and over again. It might as well have a high quality stamp on it. At least that's how I hear it, and all the undead who worked with me until recently. We meet just outside the city and look at the cloud of sulphur rising from the chimneys. One day it will be our end. But before that happens, I'll be ripping the "Rot Stink Rip" album into my head under pressure. Once again, the gentlemen have done a great morbid job. I give them a thumbs up. Death is not the end, but only the beginning. A devastating death metal assault of the most bloodthirsty zombies! Coarsely chopped darkness and energy!

Vždycky to chvilku trvá, než mozek pochopí, že bolest nezmizí. Časová prodleva mezi bodnutím rezavým hřebem do uší a následným řevem oběti bývá někdy opravdu dlouhá. Vyděšená tvář, krev, která stéká pomalu po tváři. Sedíš opět ve tmavé kobce a přemýšlíš, proč zrovna ty. Slibovali ti rozhřešení, říkali ti, že se budeš mít dobře. Místo toho pomalu umíráš ve špíně a strachu. Zatím ještě trošku žiješ. Je to díky jediné věci. Pomáhá ti poslech surové a nechutné hudby.

Je tu nové album amerických tmářů ANTICHRIST SIEGE MACHINE. A já si opět při jejich poslechu připadám jako oběť inkvizice. Nikdy neodvolám! Nikdy se nebudu klanět padlým modlám. Místo toho přidám hlasitost a naplno si vychutnám zkažené melodie na nové nahrávce "Vengeance of Eternal Fire". Plamen hoří znovu jasně a spálí vás na popel. Stejně jako tahle nekřesťanská hudba. 


Je to black death metalový teror té nejvyšší kvalty. Žádné kompromisy, žádné zbytečnosti. Pánové útočí přímo a neznají slitování. Fanoušci třeba takových REVENGE, BLACK WITCHERY, BLASPHEMY, ARCHGOAT, TEITANBLOOD, IMPETUOUS RITUAL, DIOCLETIAN, MITOCHONDRIAN, MORTICIAN budou určitě spokojeni jako já. Tohle je totální masakr pro všechny prokleté, pro jedince, kteří mají rádi nahrubo nasekané zlo, tmu a nenávist proti všemu, co smrdí křesťanstvím. Jedná se o válku s nebem, po které zůstává jenom spálená země. Představte si hořící kostel, ve kterém se modlili krvelační vojáci. Můžeš zabíjet jak chceš, stačí odříkat modlitbu a bude ti odpuštěno. Novinka má masivní a ostrý zvuk, povedený démonický obal. Vše sedí perfektně na svých místech, nenalezl jsem žádná slabá místa. Je ale také pravdou, že jednotlivé nápady vyniknou naplno až po nějakém čase. Vše je mokvající, hnusné a zpočátku nepřístupné. Je to jako stát na pokraji močálu, ze kterého pomalu na povrch vyplouvají zohavená těla obětí. Moje pocity z "Vengeance of Eternal Fire" jsou velmi podobné. Během společných setkání cítím blízkou přítomnost smrti. Vždycky to chvilku trvá, než mozek pochopí, že bolest nezmizí. Časová prodleva mezi bodnutím rezavým hřebem do uší a následným řevem oběti bývá někdy opravdu dlouhá. Vyděšená tvář, krev, která stéká pomalu po tváři. Myslím, že netřeba dodávat cokoliv dalšího. Otočte volume pořádně doprava a nechte se rozsekat na malé kousky. Budete rozemleti na prach! Surový, masakrující black death metal s příchutí zkažené krve!

It always takes a while for the brain to understand that the pain doesn't go away. The time lag between the rusty nail in the ear and the victim's subsequent scream is sometimes really long. A frightened face, blood trickling slowly down the cheek. Sitting in a dark dungeon again, wondering why you. You were promised absolution, told you'd be fine. Instead, you're slowly dying in filth and fear. You're still alive a little bit. It's because of one thing. Listening to raw and disgusting music helps you.

There's a new album from American darkies ANTICHRIST SIEGE MACHINE. And listening to them again makes me feel like a victim of the Inquisition. I'll never call it off! I will never bow down to fallen idols. Instead, I'll turn up the volume and fully enjoy the wicked melodies on the new record "Vengeance of Eternal Fire". The flame burns bright again and burns you to ashes. Just like this unchristian music. 


It's black death metal terror of the highest quality. No compromises, no uselessness. Gentlemen attack directly and know no mercy. Fans of such bands as REVENGE, BLACK WITCHERY, BLASPHEMY, ARCHGOAT, TEITANBLOOD, IMPETUOUS RITUAL, DIOCLETIAN, MITOCHONDRIAN, MORTICIAN will surely be as satisfied as I am. This is a total massacre for all the damned, for individuals who like coarsely chopped evil, darkness and hatred against everything that stinks of Christianity. It is a war with heaven that leaves only scorched earth. Imagine a burning church where bloodthirsty soldiers prayed. You can kill all you want, just say a prayer and you will be forgiven. The novelty has a massive and crisp sound, hilarious demonic cover art. Everything fits perfectly in place, I found no weak spots. However, it is also true that individual ideas only become fully apparent after some time. Everything is soggy, ugly and initially inaccessible. It's like standing on the edge of a swamp from which the mutilated bodies of the victims slowly emerge. My feelings about "Vengeance of Eternal Fire" are very similar. I feel the near presence of death during our encounters together. It always takes a while for the brain to understand that the pain doesn't go away. The time lag between the rusty nail in the ears and the victim's subsequent scream is sometimes really long. A frightened face, blood trickling slowly down the cheek. I don't think I need to add anything else. Turn the volume all the way to the right and get chopped into little pieces. You'll be ground to dust! Raw, butchering black death metal with a taste of bad blood!

Občas nevím, jestli jsem ještě živý a nebo jsem se stal dávno stínem. Dolů, do katakomb utíkám čím dál tím častěji. Potřebuji dobrou hudbu ke svému životu. Je mojí krví, mým srdcem, které mě pohání kupředu. Rád stále přehrabuji staré kosti, hledám v archívech nebo se nechám překvapit novými kapelami. Mám již dávno svoje rituály, které jsem od devadesátých let minulého století dovedl k dokonalosti. Pokaždé, když mě něco zaujme, sednu si, zhasnu všechna světla a nechám na sebe hudbu jen tak působit. Potom se rozhodnu, jestli o ní napíšu pár slov.

Je to old school přesně podle mého gusta! To mě napadlo jako první, když se mi dostalo do rukou debutové EP švédských ROT FESTER. Divoké, chladné a temné melodie. Starodávná patina, známá z čerstvě otevřených hrobů. Začal jsem si po čase podupávat nohou do rytmu, kýval jsem se jako starý hrobník. Vše hoří jasným, černým plamenem!


Nářezové pasáže, valivá střední tempa, riffy ostré tak, že se vám zadřou hluboko pod kůži. Vokál nakažený chorobami. Melodie, které v sobě obsahuji chlad a opravdovou, nahrubo nasekanou tmu. Ano, teď už jsem si jistý. Jsem zde správně, na starém pohřebišti. Mezi náhrobky se jmény poctivých kapel, které se staly inspirací pro ROT FESTER. Poslouchat "Condone and Condemn" je jako listovat trouchnivějícími testamenty. Jednou se všichni rozpadneme v prach, ale než se tak stane, budu se k této desce rád vracet. Je totiž po okraj narvaná vším, co mám na tomhle stylu tolik rád. Má v sobě tlak, černou energii, ale třeba i složitě popsatelnou patinu, která se těžko definuje, ale odlišuje špatné skupiny od dobrých. Společná setkání připomínají krásně morbidní momenty, které nastanou pokaždé, když je otevřena Pandořina skříňka. Z reproduktorů ke mě vytéká zkažená krev, hnis a špína, choroby. Vše vytváří na zemi temně rudé krystaly. Chlad se mi pomalu dostává přímo do kostí. Vše je reálné, opravdové a sune se nekompromisně kupředu. Jako nějaký starodávný stroj na zabíjení. Prosévám mezi prsty prach svých předků a přemýšlím, kdy nastane můj čas. Už dnes vím, že si jednou budu muset vzít do záhrobí náklaďák plný oblíbené hudby. ROT FESTER budou patřit mezi vyvolené. Budu jejich nové EP pouštět všem démonům, budeme na ni tančit se zombie. Obsahuje v sobě totiž všechny potřebné ingredience pro to, abych mohl být pohřben zaživa. Občas nevím, jestli jsem ještě živý a nebo jsem se stal dávno stínem. Dolů, do katakomb utíkám čím dál tím častěji. Potřebuji dobrou hudbu ke svému životu. Je mojí krví, mým srdcem, které mě pohání kupředu. Starý, temný a studený death metal pokrytý plesnivými pavučinami! Syrové ozvěny z onoho světa!

Sometimes I don't know if I'm still alive or if I became a shadow long ago. Down into the catacombs I run more and more often. I need good music for my life. It's my blood, my heart that drives me forward. I still like to dig through old bones, search the archives or be surprised by new bands. I've long had my rituals, which I've perfected since the 1990s. Every time something catches my attention, I sit down, turn off all the lights and let the music just affect me. Then I decide whether to write a few words about it.

It's old school, just the way I like it! That was the first thing that came to mind when I got my hands on the debut EP of Sweden's ROT FESTER. Wild, cold and dark melodies. An ancient patina, familiar from freshly opened graves. After a while I started to stomp my foot to the beat, swaying like an old grave digger. Everything burns with a bright, black flame!


Cutting passages, rolling mid-tempos, riffs so sharp that they burrow deep under your skin. Disease-infected vocals. Melodies that contain coldness and real, rough-hewn darkness. Yes, now I'm sure. I'm right here, in the old burial ground. Among the tombstones with the names of the honest bands that inspired ROT FESTER. Listening to "Condone and Condemn" is like leafing through a decaying will. Someday we'll all crumble into dust, but until that happens, I'll love coming back to this record. Because it's packed to the brim with everything I love about this style. It's got pressure, black energy, and maybe even a patina that's hard to define, but it separates the bad bands from the good. Getting together is reminiscent of the beautifully morbid moments that occur every time Pandora's Box is opened. From the loudspeakers, corrupted blood, pus and filth, diseases flow towards me. All forming dark red crystals on the ground. The cold is slowly getting right into my bones. Everything is real, true and moving forward uncompromisingly. Like some ancient killing machine. I sift the dust of my ancestors through my fingers, wondering when my time will come. I already know that one day I'll have to take a truckload of my favorite music to the grave. ROT FESTER will be among the chosen few. I'll be playing their new EP to all the demons, we'll be dancing with zombies to it. It has all the ingredients I need to be buried alive. Sometimes I don't know if I'm still alive or if I've become a shadow. I'm running down into the catacombs more and more often. I need good music for my life. It's my blood, my heart that drives me forward. Old, dark and cold death metal covered in moldy cobwebs! Raw echoes from the other world!

A few questions - interview with death metal band from Sweden - ROT FESTER.

Answered Daniel Tjernberg, vocalist in Rot Fester, thank you!

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Daniel T: Rot Fester is a newly formed project, as recently as last year! We bumped into each other one day and then everything went at breakneck speed. The intention right from the beginning was that this will be a death metal project, in true old school style.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Daniel T: Michael Lang is the name of the man who writes the music for the band, and he has recorded all the music down on the Swedish west coast. After that I took over and recorded vocals in Goatman Studios, central Sweden. We brought in a great guitar soloist—Henke Frost—at the end, and then Dan Swanö (Unisound) mastered it.


How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Daniel T: The album was released mainly in digital channels, but also in a pretty limited CD and cassette box editions.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Daniel T: I manage the writing of the lyrics together with my weapon bearer and brother Mikael. Themes and inspiration for the lyrics can come from anywhere and can often deal with human nature, horror, faith, and hope.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Daniel T: That's really important both today and yesterday, I think: Album covers and logotypes and graphic stuff and stuff like that. It is your face, in a way; the first thing a potential listener will see. The same thing with social platforms, where you have to be represented today to communicate with your audience. The logo is made by Jonathan Harris. Overall I handle those kinda parts that you asked about, in a DIY manner.


Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takes care about you?

Daniel T: We sent our demo around to a small number of record labels and Chris, who's the manager at Kvlt und Kaos Productions, got in touch shortly after and was happy to publish us. I know him from before and he is a nice guy who cares about the underground scene.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Daniel T: As for inspiration and role models for Rot Fester and hard rock of this style (death metal), I grew up with bands such as Unleashed, Edge of Sanity, Bolt Thrower and the like.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Daniel T: We chose to send out the demo to a limited number of record labels, most of them on the medium/large scale such as Peaceville, Hammerheart… Some we never heard from again, and some wrote and thanked you and patted you on the head. You can imagine that today's labels are quite overwhelmed by a lot of bands sending in their demos. You know, sometimes you get the feeling that every other neighbor has his own band.


How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Daniel T: Rot Fester is very newly started and today we function mostly as a studio band. But everyone involved in the band plays with other bands and is meritorious in that way. Should a lucrative offer appear for a metal festival or the like, we might make it happen!

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Daniel T: We want to keep making songs and carry the death metal banner further into the 21st century! Old-school death never went away, but always laid brooding in the deep caverns.

Příběh čtyř stý padesátý pátý - Metalová seance na konci léta

Vkrádá se nám do hlav pomalu myšlenka, že budeme muset do Plzně. Pryč z lesů a luk, návrat ze života, kdy jsme byli jenom my dva sami. Na chalupě v Jizerkách, jak jinak. Na pivko jsme chodívali jen občas, raději jsme na půdě dělávali věci, které spolu muž a žena dělávají. Každá moje předchozí dívka byla úplně jiná, ale vždy hodná a pohodová. Jak už jsem mnohokrát psal, měl jsem na holky fakt štěstí. Nevím, čím jsem si to zasloužil nebo proč tomu tak je, ale možná je to taková odměna za to, že mi zemřela většina kamarádů. Alespoň tak jsem si to myslel, když jsme šli bosí potokem a snažili se do holých rukou chytit pstruhy. Sem tam se nám to povedlo, už jsem byl připraven, že budu lovcem, že připravím večeři, ale pokaždé mě zarazila. Nezabíjej. A já neměl to srdce, protože jsem věděl, že chci, aby se smála. Možná působím dodnes naivně, ale já pořád tak nějak podvědomě vždycky věřil v dobro a obyčejný život. Možná mi to předaly bábrdle, tetičky nebo vlastní máma. Bylo září, babí léto a slunce ještě přes den hřálo. Večer jsem už ale musel topit. Spoustu dní jsem o prázdninách pracoval, ale teď, teď jsme tu konečně sami. 

Hladím jí po vlasech, fascinuje mě její chůze. Asi mi to nebudete věřit, ale už tehdy jsem věděl, že jednou budeme starší, ale to pouto, těžko popsatelný svazek, ten je pevný od prvních dní. Jak píšu, měl jsem fakt štěstí. Dívám se z okna do tmy, když se jdu v noci napít a studí mě kamenitá podlaha v chalupě. Na chvilku si sednu a představuji si, jaké by to asi bylo, kdyby tu se mnou byli Kytka, Prcalík, co by řekla na moji budoucí ženu Kačenka. Nebo bych vůbec z Boleslavi neodešel? Nevím, osudu neporučíš a tady, uprostřed přírody je vše takové vznešené, majestátní. Pohledy do dálky, z lavičky na Ještěd. Zažíváme tu jedny z nejkrásnějších chvil v životě. A to musíme topit v kamnech a voda teče jenom studená. Kam půjdeme zítra? Ptám se, když uléhám vedle ní. Jenom něco zavrní. Nejdeme nikam. Protože občas něco chceme a nedostaneme to. Ráno vstanu a pobliju se. Vůbec nevím z čeho. Pálí mě oči jak slzím a nejdřív to je taková legrace, že je tedy jako kuchařka, že jako neumím pít pivo. Opláchnut si obličej a když jdu před chalupu, tak padnu v křečích k zemi. Vyděsím ji, že odběhne k sousedům dolů do vsi zavolat záchranku. 

Nechtějí jí vzít dovnitř. Není moje přímá příbuzná a pan doktor od záchranky je divnej. Asi si myslí, že jsme dělali nějaké kraviny a připadá mi, že ho otravuju. Dovezou mě do Jablonce a po několika hodinách zjistí, že mám vředy. Prý to není nic hrozného, pomohou léky, ale mám se šetřit. Přiznám se, že mě to pěkně rozhodilo. Dostanu tabletky a nazpátek musím pěšky. Jdu přes kopec a mám děsný hlad. Trhám ostružiny, ale už jsou starý, nechutnají mi. Bolí mě v hlavě, jak nepiju. Přemýšlím, že je moje životospráva asi fakt špatná. Na koleji tomu tak bývalo. Jenže jak z toho ven? Zatím nevím, jeden krok střídá druhý a pak padnu na louce znovu. Už mě sice nebolí břicho, ale jsem vyčerpaný. Dívám se do nebe, říkám si, že jsem tu na světě moc nepobyl, že už asi brzy uvidím své kamarády. Tma, temnota a v ní strach. Voda, topím se, ne, já nechci. Pak otevřu oči. Olizuje mě kráva. A vedle ní stojí jezeďák a říká něco o tom, že jsem se teda musel pěkně ožrat. Chci něco říct, ale z pusy mi nevylezou žádný slova. Je to ale opravdovej chlap. Za chvilku se vrátí, naloží mě na kárku a veze do vsi. Zeptá se a oni mu řeknou, že jsem z chalup. Odveze mě až tam. 

Blondýnka vyběhne a pláče. Nadává mi a prosí boha. Šeptám neboj, jen mám žízeň. Donese mi vodu a ta chutná jako mana. Pomalu se vracím zpět. Předám jí papír s receptem a diagnózou. Nesmíš zapomínat jíst, děláš to pořád. Bohužel, tohle se se mnou táhne celý život. Najím se, pomalu a opatrně. A chce se mi děsně spát. Lehnu si na deku, hezky pod kaštan a vedle sebe položím knihu pana Hrabala. Myslím si, že si budu číst, ale nedostanu se k tomu. Jsem v říši snů. Hrozně zmatený myšlenky. "Heeej, nazdáár, tak jsem tady!": slyším zdáli a pak čím dál tím blíž. Úplně jsme na ně zapomněli. Venca a Petra. Slíbili nám, že se poslední víkend uvidíme. Dodrželi slovo. Petra si ihned lehne vyčerpaná vedle mě. Má takovou lehce kořeněnou voňavku, která mě nakonec probere. Šli taky pěšky a mají bágly narvaný pivem a jídlem. Ihned si jedno otevřu. Vždyť si se před chvílí vrátil z nemocnice...plísní mě moje dívka a bere mi pivo z ruky. Jenže to jako když chcete vzít psovi kost. Přeperu ji. Samozřejmě ve srandě. Najíme se a hned je mi lépe. A protože jsem unavený, přemýšlíme, co budeme dělat. Co si takhle zalézt každá dvojice do pokoje, odpočinout si a pak se večer sejdeme dole a něco vymyslíme. I stane se. Připadám si trošku slabší, ale stejně jí nemůžu odolat. Má tak krásné tělo.

Asi zase zaberu, ale když se probudím, připadám si silnej. Nevím jak se to stalo, jestli jako ty léky, nevím. Zakážu si pro sebe tvrdej, alespoň na nějakou dobu. Fakt to dodržuju a myslím si, že mi to zachrání žaludek. Hodně mi ale pomůže moje blondýnka, protože se o mě hezky stará. Jak o vlastního. Pouštíme si v obýváku nějakej metal a hodně zabrousíme do blacku. Venom a Masters Hammer, samý dobroty a já začnu dělat takový ty děsivý pózy. Holkám je zima, ale mě se nechce topit. Pomalu se všichni opijí. Já taky, ale ne tolik, spíš jsem jakoby omámený. Myslím si, že to napadlo Petru. Pojďme, budeme vyvolávat duchy. Připadá mi to vtipný, tak dám do kazeťáku Possessed a Vital Remains. Sepneme ruce a Petra odříkává nějaké formule. Chci se jí zeptat, kde se to naučila, ale nestihnu to, protože na chodbě něco spadne. Vystřelím ven, ale nikde nikdo. Asi sousedovic černá kočka. Nebo ne? Netuším. Venku je mlha a když se kouknu z okna, tak tam stojí postava. Vidíte? Zeptám se a všichni kroutí hlavou, že ne. Jsem blázen? 

Jenže já ty démony, ty našeptávače vidím kolem sebe. Mluví se mnou. Vykládají mi nejdříve hezky o mých kamarádech, o Kačence. Pak ale začnou být jedovatý. Naschvál přidám hlasitost, ale vůbec to nepomáhá. Dokonce i Petra a Venca mají divné obličeje. Musíme rovnou ke zdroji. Musím je zabít. vyběhnu z chalupy a vytrhnu kazeťák ze zdi. Ještě, že jsou v něm baterie. Běžím lesem, po poli a všichni mě pronásledují. Měsíc se objevil v mlze. Slyším svoje jméno, šeptají ho. Ale já vím, kde mají svoje sídlo. Jsem tam za chvilku. Nohy mám rozdrásané do krve, ale mě to vůbec nevadí. Tady je ticho a klid. Hřbitov ve Smržovce. Sednu si na jeden náhrobek a začnu se modlit. Moc modliteb neumím, tak si nějaké vymýšlím. Pustím zase Venom a pak to začne. Hroby se otevřou a najednou je vidím. Staré i mladé. Holky, co přede mnou masturbují a odpadává jim maso od kostí. Utrhnu lucerničku z jednoho hrobu a tu máš hajzle. Jenže je jich děsně moc. Jsou jako bestie, nemám šanci. Povalí mě na zem, starý hnusný zombie, ošukají mě a když jsem na vrcholu, tak mi prokousnou hrdlo. Je zase tma, dostali mě. Asi jsem umřel. 

Ne, neumřel si. Ale tohle už nikdy nedělej. Ležím v posteli a nade mnou se sklání blondýnka. Koukám jí do výstřihu a vůbec nevím, o co jde. Prý jsem lehce opilý pro jistotu snědl prášky na vředy. A pak měl amok a představy. Byl jsem normálně sjetej. Hele, ale já nevěděl, že se na ně nemá pít? Co mi to dali? Název si nepamatuju, ale opravdu to tam bylo napsané. Nesmí se na ně pít. Nejdřív jsem byl legrační, tančil jsem jako na nějaké seanci kolem kazeťáku, kroutil se do rytmu a byl vtipný. Jenže když začalo vyvolávání duchů, tak jsem se zbláznil. Jakoby mi přeskočilo. Nejdřív jsem něco mumlal a pak se najednou zvedl, vytrhl kazeťák ze zdi a utekl. Byl jsem fakt rychlej, tak než se všichni vzpamatovali, byl jsem v lese. Ale kazeťák svítil, byl jsem jak světluška. Opilá, sjetá víla. Šli ihned za mnou. V mých stopách. Našli mě, jak sedím na hřbitově, něco mumlám a vyřvávají mi tam Venom. Když mě chtěli odvést, tak jsem se neustále svlékal a osahával Petru i blondýnku. Nakonec mě musel Venca praštit, aby mě vůbec mohli nějak zpacifikovat. 

Já jsem tak blbej, mám splín a cítím se hrozně. Ale nikdo mi nic nevyčítá. Jenom Venca, když jsme chvilku sami, tak my řekne, abych si na to dával bacha. Máš v sobě taky občas takovej divnej smutek, kterej se snažíš zničit, zabít, přepít. Nedělej to, nech ho bejt, ať tě klidně pohltí. Jdi si zaběhat, řvi a breč, ale nechlastej na to. Měl jsem to takhle s perníkem, řekne mi a já si uvědomím, že má vlastně pravdu. Moje mládí uteklo hrozně rychle. Na něco bylo super, měl jsem hodnou mámu, rodinu, ale taky špatnýho otce. A moji nejlepší kamarádi, o kterých jsem si myslel, že spolu budeme navždy, zemřeli. A já tu zůstal na všechen ten smutek sám. Proto jsem nejdřív balil holky a kalil co to šlo. Připadali mi vtipní, všichni ti, kdo mi chtěli pomoc. Já sám nechtěl, rochnil jsem si v tom a občas někomu i ublížil. Život je stejně někdy zvláštní. Trápíte se několik let, abyste nakonec sežrali prášky na vředy, vypili několik piv. Muselo mě to kopnout, vystrašit mě, můj mozek i tělo. Obdivuji blondýnku, že se mnou potom zůstala. Nikdy mi nic nevyčetla. Jen jsem si s ní, když druhý den Petra s Vencou odjeli, sednul a vyprávěl jsem jí. Já se totiž styděl, víte. Když jsem domluvil, pohladila mě a plakala. Po metalové seanci na konci léta jsem ji začal mít rád ještě víc, než dřív. A to jsem si myslel, že to už nepůjde.

Někdy bývá těžké se rozhodnout. Temná hlubina pod tebou je tak lákavá. Žiletka v koupelně jakoby ti říkala, aby ses znovu řízl do svého zápěstí. Pokaždé, když jdeš ven, tak si s sebou bereš provaz se smyčkou na konci. U snídaně přemýšlíš, jaký jed by nejvíce bolel. Nakonec to ale neuděláš. Raději zařveš do tmy a poslechneš si nějakou hudbu, která tě nabije energií. Někdy na člověka všechno padá. V těchto momentech doporučuji poslech nové desky TERMINAL NATION z Arkansasu.

Jedná se o moje první setkání s kapelou a musím rovnou napsat, že jsem doslova stržen. Kapela vzala pomocí svých skladeb obrovské kladivo a praštila mě s ním přímo do ksichtu. Kombinace starého death metalu a hardcore, vztek, frustrace, nakumulovaná nenávist. Tohle všechno zde najdete. Smíchané ve velmi jedovatém koktejlu. 

Ráno vstaneš a vypadáš, jako by tě přejel buldozer. Všichni kolem jsou ale krásní a dokonalí. Povrchní úsměvy, každý má ve sklepě svoje tajemství. TERMINAL NATION je všechny vzala a nechala je vyplavat na povrch. Všechnu tu lež, přetvářku, všechnu tu faleš, které nás obklopují. Pochoduj a neměj žádné názory. Plať vlastní krví a zemři zničený na prach. Amen. V jednotlivých motivech je neklid, chvění, touha ničit. Chladné, syrové a temné HM-2 a D-beat melodie se zde potkávají s hardoreovou surovostí. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako OUTER HEAVEN, GATECREEPER,  MAMMOTH GRINDER a samozřejmě celou klasickou švédskou školu, bude se vám určitě líbit i nové album "Echoes Of The Devil’s Den". Je totiž nastaveným zrcadlem všeho špatného, co se kolem nás v současném divném světě děje. Až toho zase jednou ne tebe bude hodně, nepřemýšlej nad tím, jaký způsob smrti zvolíš. Raději si pusť tuhle nahrávku pořádně nahlas a rozbij to hnusné zrcadlo. Líbí se mi způsob jakým kapela přistupuje k hudbě jako takové, oceňuji dobrý zvuk i obal. Na desce se objeví i spousta hostů, které odvedli opravdu dobrou práci (seznam naleznete dole pod článkem). Za mě osobně nelze jinak, než novinku doporučit všem, kteří ještě u hudby přemýšlejí. Tohle je masakr přesně podle mého gusta. Doporučuji vypnout všechny sítě světa, zhasnout obrazovky a otočit volume pořádně doprava. Budete roztrháni na kusy! Death metal hardcore masakr, který vám rozdrtí všechny kosti v těle!

Sometimes it's hard to decide. The dark depths beneath you are so tempting. The razor blade in the bathroom seems to be telling you to cut your wrist again. Every time you go out, you take a rope with a loop at the end. At breakfast, you wonder what poison would hurt the most. But in the end, you don't. You'd rather scream in the dark and listen to some music to energize you. Sometimes everything falls on you. In those moments, I recommend listening to the new album from Arkansas' TERMINAL NATION.

This is my first encounter with the band and I have to write right off the bat that I am literally blown away. The band took a huge hammer through their songs and hit me right in the face with it. A combination of old death metal and hardcore, anger, frustration, accumulated hatred. You'll find it all here. Mixed in a very toxic cocktail. 


You get up in the morning and you look like you've been run over by a bulldozer. But everyone around you is beautiful and perfect. Superficial smiles, everyone has a secret in the basement. TERMINAL NATION has taken them all and let them come to the surface. All the lies, all the pretense, all the fakery that surrounds us. March on and have no opinions. Pay with your own blood and die reduced to dust. Amen. There's a restlessness, a trembling, a desire to destroy in each motive. Cold, raw and dark HM-2 and D-beat melodies meet Hardore's rawness here. If you like bands like OUTER HEAVEN, GATECREEPER, MAMMOTH GRINDER and of course the whole classic Swedish school, you will definitely enjoy the new album "Echoes Of The Devil's Den". For it is a set mirror of all the bad things that are happening around us in the current strange world. When it's too much for you again, don't think about the way you choose to die. You better play this record loud and break that ugly mirror. I like the way the band approaches the music itself, I appreciate the good sound and the cover art. There are also a lot of guest appearances on the record and they do a really good job (see the list below). For me personally, I can't help but recommend the new album to everyone who is still thinking about music. This is a massacre exactly to my taste. I recommend turning off all the networks in the world, turning off the screens and turning the volume properly to the right. You will be torn to pieces! A death metal hardcore massacre that will crush every bone in your body!

Recenze/review - BARON - Beneath the Blazing Abyss (2024):

Ave BARON! Greetings to the underground. I hope everything is fine with you. It should be because this year you have released a first long-play full-length album in your band's career. I have to admit it has literally blown my mind. It is dark, energic and as if it cuts by the sharp edge of the knife. I can hear from the record you did a really good job and you added a big portion of the talent, too. How do you perceive the new album in comparison to the first EP? Where did you want to move and in what are these two records different?

"Hello JAKUB & DEADLY STORM ZINE, greetings from Finland! We're glad that you're digging the album, lots of hard work was poured into that one. The new LP is basically an expansion on the sound that was found on our 2021 demo/EP ‘Hellspawn’. We definitely wanted to bring more elements of death/funeral doom and make the overall sound of the record more cohesive. Much more thought was put in the LP composition-wise while the demo was a bit rushed. The new LP is also the first time that you can hear synthesizers on our tracks."


„Beneath the Blazing Abyss“ includes all attributes of good death and doom metal. For me personally, it represents the record, which I really like to listen to. How did you produce it? How look the writing process of new material in the case of BARON?

"The earliest material that ended up on the album was actually written way back in 2018. Majority of the album however was composed during the covid lockdowns in 2020-2022 via writing sessions that were held online between our guitar players JERRY and TEEMU. The writing process basically starts and ends on JERRY's shitty laptop computer where he hosts all the songwriting sessions. He composed with TEEMU online these demo versions of the songs with programmed drums. Then in 2022 when the lockdowns were pretty much abandoned we gathered at our rehearsal space and well, rehearsed the material. Some final tweaks to the songs were also made at those rehearsals."

Who is signed for recording and mastering? I have to confirm that the sound literally kills. It keeps making me turn up the volume on the hi-fi tower. You have a sound that's harsh, raw and dark and animalistic at the same time. How was it working with you? What studio did you record in and how did it all work?

"The record was engineered, mixed and mastered by our long time collaborator and friend JUSSI RIIKONEN. We’re glad that we put our trust in him because we agree that he nailed the production job! The drums and vocals were also recorded by him at ‘JussiMagia Studios’ in two locations, here in Helsinki, Finland and also in Tallinn, Estonia. That trip to Tallinn would end up taking quite a big chunk of our budget because, well, reasons… so we had to get creative with the recording of the stringed instruments. Guitar and bass were recorded in a different session with TIMI JETSU, who's a legendary drummer here in the Finnish underground. Some call him the best drummer in the whole scene… he also owns his own studio, literally called ‘Timi’s’ that he was happy to rent to us for very affordable pricing, which was fortunate after that costly adventure in Tallinn. Then JERRY with the assistance of TIMI recorded all the guitars and bass parts that are heard on the album by himself. TIMI has this awesome collection of old school amps way back from the 80’s and 90’s that were used in the recordings.”


An important part and a kind of extra bonus for fans today is the physical CD. You released the new album at CD in label Transcending Obscurity Records, and it comes with a demonic cover art. The author is Misha Mono. How did you choose the motif and how does it relate to the music at the record?

“Yeah we couldn’t be any happier with the cover art. The idea of these boiling humans in a sea of flames was originally meant for the ‘Hellspawn’ demo but the idea was so good that we felt like it should be saved for the LP, so we went with a different cover art for the demo. It might have been Twitter where we first came across MISHA’s art. We really liked his style as it felt fairly unique but recognizable, and decided to contact him. He was really easy to work with and we couldn’t recommend him enough when it comes to killer cover artwork. We feel like the lyrics and the actual music very much mirror the infernal nature of the cover.”

I have been wandering the underground for over thirty years and I still go to Finland for music with certainty. I think we have a similar nature and taste when it comes to metal. I like your bands a lot and I monitor your scene carefully. Maybe I envy you a little, because we only have a few death metal bands that are worth it. How do you explain that death metal are doing so well in your country? How do you perceive your scene, fans, labels?

“Well the death metal scene is in a very healthy place currently here in Finland mostly because a lot of kids are into it. It almost seems like every week there’s a new band formed by a group of 15-16 year olds who live and breathe death metal. There are also a couple of venues that can host all ages gigs that all the youngsters can attend to, which is very important. If some old geezers are the only people involved in your scene it certainly isn’t a healthy sign… every summer there’s also Helsinki Deathfest that brings some of the bigger bands here from around the world. Our favorite local label is definitely IRON CORPSE, who actually released our demo cassette back in 2021. One of the few cases where you can buy any release blind from the label and there’s like a 99% chance that it rules.”


You play doom death metal influenced by, among other things, the old school. Today, the band can’t avoid comparisons, but I would like to know how the idea to start BARON was born, who was and is your metal idol? Where do you want to move your band? Are you attracted to large foreign festivals, for example, are you willing to go on tour with a more famous band?

“BARON was born back in 2015 during a drunken celebration of our bass player TONI’s 18th birthday. Time sure does fly, doesn’t feel at all like we’ve been a band for nearly 10 years… We know it’s basic but honestly METALLICA was very important for all of us growing up and we probably could spend hours and hours just talking about them if we wanted to. People can talk shit about them all they like but the magic of those first four albums can’t ever be denied. But of course nowadays our taste in music is much more diverse than just METALLICA, ha-ha… currently we worship bands such as MORBID ANGEL, MY DYING BRIDE, KATATONIA, DISEMBOWELMENT, MORPHEUS DESCENDS, UNHOLY and SEPTIC FLESH (couple first releases only!) to keep things brief. Our goal is to improve with every release we do and not get stuck doing the same thing over and over again. As for festivals and touring, sure we’d love to play in some but realistically our personal life schedules are keeping us pretty busy currently, so don’t expect a six continent world tour anytime soon. Of course if MORBID ANGEL asks us to support them on a tour we are quitting our day jobs immediately and announce that we are fucking going there!!! Ha-ha…”

When I started my website seven years ago, I had a vision that I would try to support bands that are not so much popular, or they are lost in underground. To let the world knows about them. I think I’m doing quite well, at least according to the responses. How do you approach the promotion of your music? Do you rely upon the label or do you send the CDs for various reviews by yourself? For example, I buy albums that I really enjoy. What about you? Are you also fans who often support your colleagues? Do you go to concerts?

“We feel like the constant promotion grind is one of the worst aspects of being a band in the modern age, we fucking hate it… bands enjoy making music and playing shows, not being soulless content machines and Tiktokers. We just do the basic social media things and once we get those physical CD’s we’ll most likely send some of them to reviewers and magazines and that’s it. These interviews are probably the only type of promotion that we really enjoy doing! The label has been very helpful with the promotion stuff to be fair, so shout outs to KUNAL from TRANSCENDING OBSCURITY RECORDS!!! Even though streaming has taken over the music world we still very much appreciate physical media for sure. All of us attend local concerts here in Finland regularly and like to support bands by buying their music or merchandise, because we as band members know how much it means to support other bands as well.”


On the one hand, today the new band has a lot of opportunities to make themselves more known, but on the other hand, there are a huge number of groups and the fans are getting lost in this big metal sea. A lot of people just download mp3s from the internet and instead of to visit the concert they prefer to spit poisonous saliva on Facebook. How do modern technologies affect you as BARON? What do you think about downloading music, google metalists, streaming music, etc.?

“Well we touched on this a bit already in our previous answer, but there are pros and cons to it. Growing up during the late 90’s and early 00’s sometimes you tend to yearn back to those days of early internet for sure. There was something special about borrowing every metal album you could from the library and copying them to Media Player, and of course actually buying CD’s with the little money you had. But we’d be lying if streaming music wasn’t convenient as hell most of the time. Also discovering new music has been made easier than ever if you know where to look. For example, there are great users on sites such as RATE YOUR MUSIC with amazing in depth lists and dedicated Instagram pages to hook you up with new (and old but maybe forgotten) bands. The so-called ‘amazing’ Spotify algorithm might be the biggest myth ever though, sure if you like listening to the same 10 or so albums that get pushed on your home page then it’s amazing!”

I like to ask the musicians what death metal means to them. How would they define it, whether it is more the philosophy and lifestyle thing for them or “just” relaxation? What does it mean for you? How do you perceive and experience it?

“As musicians but more importantly as fans of the genre first and foremost, death metal and metal overall affects more or less every aspect of our everyday lives. If you view metal as ‘just another genre of music’ you just will never get it, sorry. The places that death metal has taken us and the people it has introduced us to, how it has shaped our view of the world, that clearly means that it’s much more than just cheap entertainment.”


Finally, a classic but important question. What is BARON planning in the upcoming months? Where can we see you at the stage?

“Our short term plan is to write some new songs for a mini release, maybe a split or just an EP and release it before the end of this year. As for gigs, it’s been quieter on that front than maybe we would’ve liked, but there are a couple of shows planned for the summer here in Finland that haven’t been announced yet. So keep an eye out for them, I’m sure they’ll be announced soon enough.”
