Začaly se zjevovat postupně. Vystoupily z mlhy a děsily všechny kolem. Černé siluety postav. Kamenné tváře, přesto bylo slyšet jedovatý šepot. Nemrtví se probudili. Vzduchem se vznášel pach rozkládajícího těla a také mrazivé riffy německých CRYPTS. Ve starých knihách se píše, že démony lze spálit. Jenže tentokrát to nefungovalo. Svět je až příliš zkažený a zlý, stíny se čím dál tím víc prodlužují. Hroby se otvírají, pod dřevěnými víky se ozývá šramot.
Starý prašivý death metal mi koluje v žilách snad odnepaměti. CRYPTS jsou na tom podobně. Hrají syrově, surově, citují z pradávných spisů. Jsou jako tlaková vlna, způsobená neklidem a sesuvem půdy v podzemí. Jedná se o prvotinu, pod kterou jsou podepsáni zkušení muzikanti. Přízraky jsou již dávno mezi námi. Peklo se probudilo.
"Coven of the Dead" je deskou určenou pro staré fanoušky death metalu, případně pro všechny obdivovatele klasických, tradičních postupů. Album má prašivou atmosféru, nejvíc připomíná návštěvu opuštěných katakomb. Hluboko pod zemí, v místech, která se bojí normální smrtelníci navštívit. My ale posloucháme smrtící kov již spoustu let a víme, že zde, mezi rozpadajícími se těly prokletých, se ukrývají ty nejlepší kousky hudby. CRYPTS hrají velmi uvěřitelně, mají skvělý studený zvuk a o obalu netřeba diskutovat. Ihned přitáhl moji pozornost. Přijal jsem pozvání od nemrtvých a trávím teď v jejich společnosti dlouhé hodiny. Stejně jako s nahrávkou "Coven of the Dead", ve které jsou otištěny vzpomínky třeba na takové UNLEASHED, GRAVE, ENTOMBED, ale třeba i na BOLT THROWER, HAIL OF BULLETS, AUTOPSY. Jedná se přesně o ten druh shnilého, mokvajícího death metalu, který je podáván spolu se shnilým masem. Songy mají sílu, drive, poctivý feeling. Připomínají starý, černobílý hororový film, ve kterém na svět přicházejí přízraky. V podání CRYPTS, to potom není film, ale drsná realita. Vystoupily z mlhy a děsily všechny kolem. They began to appear gradually. They emerged from the fog, terrifying everyone around them. Black silhouettes of figures. Stone faces, yet a poisonous whisper could be heard. The undead woke up. The air smelled of decomposing bodies, as well as the chilling riffs of German CRYPTS. Old books say that demons can be burned. But it didn't work this time. The world is too corrupt and evil, the shadows getting longer and longer. The graves open, and there is a rumble under the wooden lids.
Old dusty death metal has been circulating in my veins since time immemorial. CRYPTS are similar. They play raw, quoting from ancient writings. They are like a pressure wave caused by turmoil and landslides underground. This is the first work under which experienced musicians are signed. The ghosts are long gone. Hell awoke.
"Coven of the Dead" is a record intended for old fans of death metal, or for all admirers of classic, traditional methods. The album has a dusty atmosphere, most reminiscent of a visit to abandoned catacombs. Deep underground, in places that normal mortals are afraid to visit. But we have been listening to death metal for many years and we know that here, among the crumbling bodies of the cursed, the best pieces of music are hidden. CRYPTS play very believably, they have a great cold sound and there is no need to discuss the cover. It immediately caught my attention. I accepted the invitation from the undead and now spend long hours in their company. As with the recording "Coven of the Dead", in which memories of such UNLEASHED, GRAVE, ENTOMBED are imprinted, but also of BOLT THROWER, HAIL OF BULLETS, AUTOPSY. This is exactly the kind of rotten, wet death metal that is served with rotten meat. The songs have strength, drive, an honest feeling. They are reminiscent of an old, black-and-white horror film in which ghosts come into the world. In CRYPTS, then it's not a movie, but a harsh reality. They emerged from the fog, terrifying everyone around them. Black silhouettes of figures. Stone faces, yet a poisonous whisper could be heard. The undead woke up. Dark death metal that will grind you to dust!
