Měl to být obyčejný, rutinní výsadek. Všichni se usmívali a adrenalin byl cítit v celé kabině. Seskok proběhl ještě dobře, jenže pak vylezly z děr krvelačné krysy. Všichni jsme jim tak říkali. Následovala jatka, při kterých zemřela spousta kamarádů. Prostřelené hlavy, utrhané končetiny. Pak bylo ticho. Nekonečné, mrtvolné ticho. Do té doby, dokud neprořízl těžký, vlhký vzduch první riff. Z vysílačky se ozvala nová deska "Sentenced to War" českých thrash death metalistů 1000 BOMBS. Smrt byla zase jednou blízko a nikdo tuhle akci ze vzpomínek nikdy nevyhnal. Nešlo to. Zůstala navždy vypálena v našich myslích.

Poslouchat tuhle nahrávku je jako sedět na hřbitově plném bílých křížů a nechat si vyprávět staré příběhy od přeživších veteránů. A to nejen co se týká textů, ale i hudby, která je samozřejmě náležitě stará a plesnivá. Jako metal samotný. Není divu, tahle smečka hraje přesně tak, jak to mám rád. Letošní větší příklon ke kovu smrti mi samozřejmě, jako starému hrobníkovi, vyhovuje. Nezbývá, než zasalutovat a dát další příkaz.

Oproti předchozí, víceméně čisté thrashové desce "Peace Is Dead" (2014) přibylo spousta chladných, temných pasáží. Není to již "jenom legrace" (samozřejmě nic proti), ale vše je vážnější, propracovanější. Opravdu si připadám, jako bych ležel v zákopech, připravený k boji. Válka vždycky byla, je a vždy bude neskutečné svinstvo. Mám tohle téma v metalu všeobecně moc rád, protože když se to umí, tak vyleze na povrch atmosféra, která dokáže posluchače zcela pohltit. Představte si špinavý, dávno rezavý tank, který jede stále kupředu. Nezná slitování a zůstává po něm jenom spálená země. Rozdrtí vaše kosti a zemřete ještě dřív, než vás stačí zastřelit. Nálady jsou na novince velmi podobné, jako u BOLT THROWER, JUNGLE ROT, ENTOMBED nebo třeba JUST BEFORE DAWN. Zazní samozřejmě ale i odkazy na thrash metalové klasiky. Zkrátka a dobře, zažijete krutost války v přímém přenose, na vlastní kůži. 1000 BOMBS se povedlo mě dostat na svoji stranu. Stalo se to postupně, pomalu. Zajímavé je, že se mi vkradli i do mých snů. Byl jsem v nich účastníkem starých černobílých dokumentů o různých bojích. Končilo to pokaždé stejně. Zemřel jsem, roztrhaný a s děsem v očích. Obal je stylový, myslím si, že se opravdu povedl. Ke všemu nemám vlastně žádných připomínek, jenom snad zvuk by mohl být trošinku špinavější. To ale berte jenom jako drobnost. Jinak jsem si nové album užíval, jako starý veterán. Lidstvo se asi nikdy nepoučí, pořád jsme schopni se neustále vyhlazovat. Je moc dobře, že jsou stále skupiny, které na to upozorňují. Pánové z 1000 BOMBS to navíc dělají velmi elegantně a zkušeně. Tenhle výsadek se rozhodně povedl. Starý prašivý válečný thrash death metal, ukovaný z té nejkvalitnější oceli!

It was supposed to be a simple, routine drop. Everyone was smiling and the adrenaline was palpable throughout the cabin. The jump went well, but then the blood-sucking rats came out of the holes. We all called them that. What followed was a slaughter in which many of our friends died. Heads shot off, limbs blown off. Then there was silence. Endless, dead silence. Until the first riff cut through the heavy, damp air. From the radio came the new album "Sentenced to War" by Czech thrash death metallers 1000 BOMBS. Death was near once again and no one ever banished this event from their memories. It couldn't. It remained forever burned in our minds.

Listening to this record is like sitting in a cemetery full of white crosses and letting the surviving veterans tell you old stories. And not just in terms of the lyrics, but also the music, which of course is appropriately old and moldy. Like metal itself. No wonder, this bunch plays exactly the way I like it. This year's greater inclination towards death metal suits me, of course, as an old undertaker. Nothing to do but salute and give another command.

Compared to the previous, more or less pure thrash album "Peace Is Dead" (2014), there are a lot of cold, dark passages. It's no longer "just fun" (nothing against it, of course), but everything is more serious, more elaborate. I really feel like I'm lying in the trenches, ready to fight. War always has been, is, and always will be an incredible mess. I love this theme in metal in general, because when you get it right, an atmosphere comes out that can completely engulf the listener. Imagine a dirty, long-rusted tank that just keeps on going. It knows no mercy and all that's left is scorched earth. It will crush your bones and you will die before you can be shot. The moods are very similar on this new release, like BOLT THROWER, JUNGLE ROT, ENTOMBED or even JUST BEFORE DAWN. But of course there are also references to thrash metal classics. In short, you will experience the cruelty of war live, first hand. 1000 BOMBS managed to get me on their side. It happened gradually, slowly. Interestingly enough, they even crept into my dreams. In them, I was a participant in old black and white documentaries about various battles. It ended the same way every time. I died, torn apart and with terror in my eyes. The cover art is stylish, I think it's really good. I don't really have any complaints about everything, except maybe the sound could be a little dirtier. But just think of that as a minor thing. Otherwise I enjoyed the new album, like an old veteran. I guess humanity never learns, we are still capable of exterminating ourselves all the time. It's very good that there are still bands that point that out. And the gentlemen of 1000 BOMBS do it very elegantly and expertly. This drop has definitely been a success. Dusty old war thrash death metal, forged from the finest steel!
