Vlastně ani nevím, proč jsem šel uprostřed noci do lesa za městem. Možná mě probudily moje noční můry, možná to byl zvláštní neklid, který stále cítím v kostech, když si poslechnu nějaké dobré death metalové album. Dodnes je mi to záhadou. Do hlavy jsem si zrovna rval již nějaký čas nové album berlínských tmářů TERATOMA a najednou jsem se ocitl v nekonečných, smradlavých močálech.
Bořil jsem se po kolena do bahna, rašelina mě vtahovala dovnitř, dusil jsem se, topil a kolem mě plavaly vybělené kosti mých předchůdců. Pokud jste stejného názoru jako já, že správné death metalové album má být ohlodané na dřeň, temné a chladné, musí řezat tou správnou stranou nože, tak potom jste zde správně. Tahle smečka vydala ještě jednu nahrávku ("Purulent Manifestations" - 2021), kterou si také určitě poslechněte, ať si uděláte o kapele celkový morbidní obraz. Novinka je potom divoká, surová a zároveň mrazivá jako ruka čerstvě exhumované mrtvoly.
Pánové ctí bezezbytku všechny náležitosti starého, prašivého smrtícího kovu (napadají mě třeba BOLT THROWER). Přidávají do něj spoustu svých nápadů a invence a výsledný koktejl považuji za velmi chutný, i když prudce jedovatý. Skladby jsou napsány s elegancí starých hrobníků, mají v sobě potřebný drive, sílu, tlak a energii. Vám, mým čtenářům, kteří se s tímto stylem setkali poprvé někdy na přelomu osmdesátých a devadesátých let minulého století, nemusím nic vysvětlovat, ale myslím si, že podstatu téhle plesnivé nahrávky pochopí i ostatní. Němci se nesnaží otočit kolem hudebních dějin, raději se pohybují v jasně daných mantinelech. Nijak zbytečně neexperimentují, sází spíše na podmanivě morbidní atmosféru starých dobrých časů. Nutno rovnou dodat, že se jim to daří na výbornou. Album "Longing Voracity" se opravdu velmi dobře poslouchá, má masivní, dobře čitelný zvuk, hoří zevnitř. Za mě, za psa, který hlídá vstup do podsvětí již několik dekád, se určitě jedná o záležitost povedenou po všech stránkách. Můžete věřit (a podepíšu vám to klidně vlastní krví) tomu, že se při společných setkáních budete jako já procházet po starých prokletých pohřebištích, na hřbitovech, na kterých byli kdysi dávno pochováni prokletí a nebo se topit ve smradlavých močálech nekonečné smrti a beznaděje. TERATOMA na to jdou opravdově, reálně, ostře, uvěřitelně a naprosto autenticky. A to se u mě, jak asi všichni víte, cení nade vše. Z mé strany tedy nelze jinak, než vám nové album doporučit. Obsahuje v sobě totiž všechno, co mám na tomto stylu rád. Staré, prašivé death metalové album, které vás pohřbí zaživa! Hudba z krvavě mlhavých močálů nekonečné smrti!

Actually, I don’t even know why I went into the woods outside town in the middle of the night. Maybe my nightmares woke me up, or maybe it was that strange restlessness I still feel in my bones whenever I listen to a good death metal album. To this day, it remains a mystery to me. I’d been hammering the new album by the Berlin dark masters TERATOMA into my head for a while, and suddenly I found myself in endless, stinking swamps.
I was sinking knee-deep into the mud, the peat pulling me in, I was choking, drowning, and the bleached bones of my ancestors were floating around me. If you agree with me that a proper death metal album should be stripped down to the bone, dark and cold, and cut with the right edge of the knife, then you’re in the right place. This pack has released one more record ("Purulent Manifestations" – 2021), which you should definitely check out to get a complete, morbid picture of the band. The new release is wild, raw, and at the same time as cold as the hand of a freshly exhumed corpse.
These guys pay unwavering homage to all the hallmarks of old-school, gritty death metal (BOLT THROWER comes to mind, for instance). They infuse it with plenty of their own ideas and creativity, and I find the resulting cocktail to be quite tasty, albeit fiercely toxic. The songs are written with the elegance of old gravediggers; they possess the necessary drive, power, intensity, and energy. To you, my readers, who first encountered this style sometime at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, I need explain nothing, but I believe others will also grasp the essence of this moldy recording. The Germans aren’t trying to rewrite music history; they prefer to stay within clearly defined boundaries. They don’t experiment unnecessarily, relying instead on the captivatingly morbid atmosphere of the good old days. It must be said right away that they succeed brilliantly. The album "Longing Voracity" is truly a pleasure to listen to; it has a massive, clear sound and burns from within. As for me, a dog who has been guarding the entrance to the underworld for several decades now this is definitely a success in every respect. You can believe (and I’ll gladly swear to it with my own blood) that during our gatherings, you’ll walk, just like me, through ancient cursed burial grounds, through cemeteries where the damned were once buried long ago, or drown in the stinking swamps of endless death and despair. TERATOMA approaches this with sincerity, realism, intensity, believability, and absolute authenticity. And as you all probably know, I value that above all else. So, from my side, I can’t help but recommend this new album to you. It contains everything I love about this style. An old, grimy death metal album that will bury you alive! Music from the blood-soaked, misty swamps of endless death!
