Propadnout se pod hladinu ledové vody horského jezera a nechat led, aby nade mnou zhasl světlo, Jsem v jiném světě, plném starodávných pověstí, legend o hrdinství, zradě, o bolesti, o utrpení. Do kostí se mi pomalu dostává chlad a všemi póry celého těla vnímám temnotu a zlo. Je tu nové album legendárních UNLEASHED. Jedné z kapel, které poslouchám celý svůj hudební život. Rovnou dodávám, že má slova budou jako vždy velmi ovlivněna tím, že jsem fanoušek.

Opět mi stačilo několik společných setkání, abych propadl sněhovému peklu. Švédský death metal s jasným, originálním a výrazným rukopisem, temné a chladné melodie, atmosféra severských plání. Jasný koncept, výrazné motivy, tohle všechno jsou základní poznávací znaky těchto matadorů. Letošní album je logickým pokračováním věcí minulých. Pánové nevymýšlejí nic nového, spíše nadále k dokonalosti vybrušují svůj originální styl. Daří se jím to na výbornou. Ostatně jako vždycky.

Švédi jsou na scéně od roku 1989. Mají na svém kontě nepřeberné množství tu lepších, jindy trošku slabších nahrávek. Nikdy ale neklesli pod určitou laťku kvality, kterou mám nastavenou ve své hlavě. I letos přistupují k hudbě s nadšením, zkušenostmi a elegancí mistrů v oboru. Na novince najdeme jak chlad, tolik známý ze severských sněhových bouří, tak i zuřivost pradávných bitev. UNLEASHED patřili, patří a dle mého vždy budou patřit mezi kapely, které vždy dokáží předat velké množství emocí. Ani "Fire upon Your Lands" mě nenechává v klidu. Vracím se k němu v brzkých ranních hodinách, kdy se ulicemi ještě procházejí stíny, o víkendu, kdy se vydávám na nekonečné toulky po lesích, i v noci, když mě probudí noční můry. A pokaždé z alba cítím velkou porci takové té poctivé síly, touhy ničit hudbou i jakousi melancholii, která je jasným poznávacím znakem kapely již dlouhé roky. Příběhy, které nám pánové vyprávějí, jsou zajímavé a rozhodně stojí za pozornost i bližší prozkoumání. Opravdoví fanoušci to určitě udělají. Myslím si ale, že UNLEASHED jsou rozhodně smečkou, která dovede oslovit i širší publikum. Možná je to díky jejich melodiím, zpěvnosti, jakési zvláštní přitažlivosti, opravdovosti, autenticitě. Ne, už dávno nejsem ve svém pokoji. Jsem ve své mysli vysoko v horách a čekám na démony, až si pro mě přijdou. Svádím divoké bitvy, užívám si jednotlivé pasáže, nasávám ledový vítr ze severu. Stal jsem se součástí muziky, jenom já a riffy, vokál, bicí, jenom já a pustina vysoko v horách. The cold slowly creeps into my bones, and I feel darkness and evil through every pore of my body. Here is the new album from the legendary UNLEASHED. One of the bands I've been listening to my entire musical life. I'll add right away that my words will, as always, be heavily influenced by the fact that I'm a fan.

Once again, it only took a few encounters for me to fall into snowy hell. Swedish death metal with a clear, original, and distinctive style, dark and cold melodies, the atmosphere of the Nordic plains. A clear concept, distinctive motifs - these are the basic hallmarks of these matadors. This year's album is a logical continuation of previous works. The gentlemen are not inventing anything new, but rather continuing to refine their original style to perfection. They are doing an excellent job of it. As always, in fact.

The Swedes have been on the scene since 1989. They have released countless recordings, some better, some weaker. However, they have never fallen below a certain standard of quality that I have set in my mind. This year, they approach music with the enthusiasm, experience, and elegance of masters in their field. On their new album, we find both the coldness so familiar from Nordic snowstorms and the fury of ancient battles. UNLEASHED belonged, belong, and in my opinion will always belong among the bands that are able to convey a great deal of emotion. Even "Fire upon Your Lands" does not leave me indifferent. I return to it in the early hours of the morning, when shadows still walk the streets, on weekends, when I set out on endless wanderings through the woods, and at night, when nightmares wake me up. And every time, I feel a great deal of honest power, a desire to destroy with music, and a kind of melancholy that has been a clear hallmark of the band for many years. The stories these gentlemen tell us are interesting and definitely worth paying attention to and exploring further. True fans will certainly do so. But I think UNLEASHED are definitely a band that can appeal to a wider audience. Maybe it's because of their melodies, their singability, a certain special appeal, their sincerity, their authenticity. No, I am no longer in my room. In my mind, I am high up in the mountains, waiting for the demons to come for me. I fight fierce battles, enjoy individual passages, and breathe in the icy wind from the north. I have become part of the music, just me and the riffs, vocals, drums, just me and the wilderness high up in the mountains. Už dlouhou dobu si nikoho neviděl. Kolem je jenom sníh a led. Hvězdy nad hlavou a ševel větru ve stromech. Je to někde tady, kousek za skalami. Staré pohřebiště bojovníků severu. Mohyly z kamení, dávné symboly, které nelze rozluštit. Jsou tady! Přízraky z dávných dob. Už zase řinčí zbraně, nepřítel je blízko. Jako nějaký film se před tebou odehrává další z krvavých příběhů. Ve vichřici zazní první riff. Pohltí mě temnota a chlad.

Psát o švédských UNLEASHED je pro mě vždy radost a čest. Jedna z posledních opravdových kapel ze severu, která dál před sebou tlačí káru plnou přelámaných kostí. I letos, na novém albu "No Sign of Life", jsou pánové uvěřitelní, opravdoví a i když nepřinášejí vůbec nic převratného, tak si desku neskutečně užívám. Tahle kapela to se mnou vždy uměla. Uplynulo třicet let, svět se neskutečně změnil a oni stále stojí pevně jako skála. Na UNLEASHED je spolehnutí, i když je po těch všech letech jasné, že hrají hlavně pro fanoušky. Nevidím na tom nic špatného. Naopak.

Základem je švédský death metal s jasným rozpoznávajícím rukopisem a otiskem (co by za to spousta dnešních kapel dala). Přidány jsou blackové a thrashové chvilky morbidní poezie. Vše je syrové, ohlodané na kost. Je mi vcelku jedno, že kapela ctí převážně své základy, které kdysi sama postavila. Nahrávka se pyšní samozřejmě skvělým zvukem, spoustou zajímavých nápadů, typickým obalem, tohle všechno z ní dělá k dokonalosti vybroušené stylové dílo. Jsem hrozně moc rád, že ještě existují na světě podobné smečky jako UNLEASHED, které poznáte podle několika prvních tónů. Jsou pro mě artefaktem z dávných dob, kdy jsem se k muzice jako takové v mládí dostal. Byli jedněmi z těch, kteří v devadesátých letech utvářeli můj názor na svět. Stále si drží svoji kvalitu. Já vlastně ani nechci, aby jakkoliv měnili svůj styl. Vyhovuje mi, že jsou true a ortodoxní v tom, co a jak hrají. Na změny a hledání nových cest tu máme jiné. Jsem i letos hrozně rád spolu se Švédy ve vichřici. Užívám si ledové melodie, typický vokál Johnna Hedlunda. "No Sign of Life" má skvělou mrazivou a černou atmosféru. Staré příběhy a legendy ožívají. Pokud to máte nastaveno jako já, tak se pohodlně usaďte, přidejte hlasitost a vydejme se spolu s kapelou na temný výlet na sever. Ledové death metalové ozvěny z Valhally!

You haven't seen anyone in a long time. There is only snow and ice around. Stars overhead and wind rustle in the trees. It's here somewhere, a short distance behind the rocks. Old burial ground of warriors of the north. Stone mounds, ancient symbols that cannot be deciphered. They are here! Ghosts from ancient times. The weapons are clattering again, the enemy is close. Like a movie, another bloody story takes place in front of you. The first riff sounds in the storm. Darkness and cold engulf me.

Writing about Swedish UNLEASHED is always a joy and an honor for me. One of the last real bands from the north, which keeps pushing a cart full of broken bones in front of it. Even this year, on the new album "No Sign of Life", the gentlemen are believable, real, and even though they do not bring anything revolutionary at all, I really enjoy the album. This band has always been good with me. Thirty years have passed, the world has changed unbelievably, and they are still standing firmly like a rock. There is reliance on UNLEASHED, although it is clear after all these years that they play mainly for fans. I don't see anything wrong with that. On the contrary.

The basis is Swedish death metal with a clear recognizable handwriting and imprint (what a lot of today's bands would pay for). Black and thrash moments of morbid poetry are added. Everything is raw, gnawed to the bone. I don't care at all that the band mainly respects its foundations, which it once built itself. The recording is of course proud of its great sound, lots of interesting ideas, typical packaging, all of which makes it a perfectly executed stylish work. I am very happy that there are still packs similar to UNLEASHED in the world, which you will recognize by the first few tones. They are for me an artifact from ancient times, when I got into music as such in my youth. They were one of those who shaped my view of the world in the 1990s. It still retains its quality. I don't even want them to change their style in any way. It suits me that they are true and orthodox in what and how they play. We have others to change and find new ways. This year, too, I am very happy with the Swedes in the storm. I enjoy ice tunes, typical John Hedlund vocals. "No Sign of Life" has a great frosty and black atmosphere. Old stories and legends come to life. If you have it set up like me, then sit comfortably, add volume and let's go on a dark trip north with the band. Ice death metal echoes from Valhalla!
