Musel si utéct ven, pryč z města, daleko od všech obrazovek. Už si nedovedl rozlišit, co je ještě pravda a co lež. Stala se z tebe mrtvola, přilepená k internetu. Bez duše a vlastního názoru. Nespal si, ani nejedl, jenom si psal slova, plná nenávisti a jedu. Pohltilo tě to, zničilo a začal si mít strach sám ze sebe. 

ANOXIDE jsou z Londýna a od roku 2012, kdy byla kapela založena, vydali dvě EP a jednu demonahrávku. Osobně jsem se ale k jejich hudbě dostal až letos, když přišli přišli se svým prvním dlouhohrajícím albem. Ihned mě zaujal zvuk, časté změny tempa, divoké i syrové pasáže, ale hlavně spousta nápadů, které dělají nahrávku velmi pestrou. 


Pánové velmi umně a zkušeně kombinují prvky z klasického, tradičního death metalu, techniky, progresivity a v některých momentech i slamu. Je to výživný koktejl, který vám možná zpočátku nebude chutnat, ale počkejte, až se chuť i nálady usadí. Chce to opět klid a plné soustředění. Kapela vám nedá nic zadarmo. Abyste jejich novou desku pochopili, budete se muset snažit. Také je nutná určitá porce fantazie, bez té to také nejde. Poslouchat "Morals & Dogma" je jako si číst staré sci-fi příběhy, které se staly krutou skutečností. Novodobý mor, lehkost a nadsázka, to téhle smečce také nechybí. Hrají si s melodiemi, jako šelma se svojí kořistí, jednou jsou ostří a nekompromisní, potom vás nechají na chvilku nadechnout, abyste byli ihned strženi do dalšího víru. Tahle kapela vás rozemele na prach, roztrhá na kusy a ani nebudete vědět jak k tomu došlo. Viděli jste někdy někoho, jak jej zasáhl blesk? Ani nemusíte, stačí si tuhle desku pustit několikrát po sobě a výsledek zažijete na vlastní kůži. Podle mého skromného úsudku se jedná o velmi povedené album po všech stránkách (i obal je vynikající). Pokud máte rádi podobně laděný death metal,  určitě veďte tuhle kapelu v pozornosti. Osobně je pro mě potom nejdůležitější, že mě baví ANOXIDE poslouchat, ano, tak jednoduché to je. Schválně, zkuste jejich novinku také a uslyšíte sami. You had to get out, away from the city, away from all the screens. He couldn't tell what was still true and what was still a lie. You became a corpse, glued to the internet. Without a soul or an opinion. You didn't sleep, you didn't eat, you just wrote words full of hate and venom. It consumed you, destroyed you, and you became afraid of yourself. 

ANOXIDE are from London and have released two EPs and one demo since the band formed in 2012. Personally though, I only got into their music this year when they came out with their first full-length album. I was immediately taken by the sound, the frequent tempo changes, the wild and raw passages, but most importantly the many ideas that make the record very varied. 


The gentlemen combine elements of classic, traditional death metal, technique, progressiveness and in some moments even slam very skillfully and expertly. It's a nutritious cocktail that you may not like at first, but wait until the taste and moods settle down. It takes calm and full concentration again. The band won't give you anything for free. You'll have to make an effort to understand their new record. You also need a certain amount of imagination, and you can't do without that. Listening to "Morals & Dogma" is like reading old sci-fi stories that have become a harsh reality. Modern morality, lightness and exaggeration, this pack doesn't lack that either. They play with the tunes like a beast with its prey, one moment sharp and uncompromising, the next they let you breathe for a moment only to be immediately swept away into another maelstrom. This band will grind you into dust, tear you apart and you won't even know how it happened. Have you ever seen someone get struck by lightning? You don't even have to, just play this record a few times in a row and you'll experience the results for yourself. In my humble judgement, this is a very good album all round (even the cover art is excellent). If you like similarly tuned death metal, definitely keep this band in your attention. Personally then, the most important thing for me is that I enjoy listening to ANOXIDE, yes, it's that simple. By all means, try their new album too and hear for yourself. I had to get out, away from the city, away from all the screens. I couldn't tell what was still true and what was still a lie. I became a corpse, glued to the internet. Without a soul or an opinion. I didn't sleep or eat. Sophisticated, raw death metal with lots of interesting moments! A variety of dark shades!

Nemám rád loutky, ani panenky, nelíbí se mi různé figuríny a pokaždé, když je někde uvidím, cítím se divně a nepříjemně. Podobné to bylo i s novou deskou britských experimentátorů MALCONFORT. Když si totiž jejich hudbu poslechnete poprvé, budete zmatení a bude se vám zdát hodně nepřístupná a divná. Jenže znáte mě, rád ochutnávám, moc dobře totiž vím, že hudba nemá hranic.

S různými experimenty, free jazzem a dalšími progresivními prvky, vloženými do black metalu je to velmi těžké. Někdo má malou fantazii a tak to v životě neocení. Dalšímu to bude zase připadat málo uvolněné. Nutno rovnou napsat, že patřím někam mezi. Někdy mám na podobnou hudbu náladu, někdy ale vůbec ne. 


Kapela si vzala jméno po jedné písni DEATHSPELL OMEGA, kterými se nechala také volně inspirovat. Stejně jako třeba VIRUS, GRUZJA, ORANSSI PAZUZU, SEA MOSQUITO, VED BUENS ENDE a dalšími experimentátory. Nejvíce se mi osvědčil poslech brzy ráno, když byla moje mysl čistá a odpočinutá. V tichu a rytmu kroků, když jsem šel kolem opuštěných továrních hal, vynikla síla téhle desky nejvíce. Představoval jsem si, že jsou uvnitř dávno opuštěné figuríny, které pomalu ožívají. Když hudba gradovala, přejel mi pokaždé mráz po zádech, byl jsem zmatený, neklidný, stejně jako motivy na téhle desce. Zajímavé je, že každý může hudbu na "Humanism" vnímat úplně jinak. V tomto případě platí více než kdy jindy, že je lepší poslouchat a udělat si svůj vlastní názor. Koneckonců, muzika je vždy soukromá záležitost. Ale to čtenářům našich stránek nemusím zdůrazňovat. Každopádně, někdy jsou skladby živočišné, surové, jindy chladné a odlidštěné. Podobně jsem se cítil u sci-fi dystopických románů. Nebo právě v továrnách, když stroje začínají svoji práci. Nebo to byli lidé? Nevím, poslední roky se rozdíly stírají. Jakoby do mě pokaždé MALCONFORT zasekli svůj dráp a způsobili mi v hlavě podivný neklid. Nemám rád loutky, ani panenky, nelíbí se mi různé figuríny a pokaždé, když je někde uvidím, cítím se divně a nepříjemně. Experimentální, chladný a temný black metal, tepající srdce lidských strojů!

I don't like puppets or dolls, I don't like the various mannequins, and every time I see one I feel strange and uncomfortable. It was similar with the new album of British experimenters MALCONFORT. Because when you listen to their music for the first time, you will be confused and find it very inaccessible and strange. But you know me, I like to taste, because I know very well that music has no boundaries.

It's very difficult with the various experiments, free jazz and other progressive elements put into black metal. Some people have little imagination and so they don't appreciate it in life. Others will find it too loose. I have to write straight away that I belong somewhere in between. Sometimes I'm in the mood for this kind of music, but sometimes not at all. 


The band took its name from one of DEATHSPELL OMEGA's songs, which they were also loosely inspired by. As well as VIRUS, GRUZJA, ORANSSI PAZUZU, SEA MOSQUITO, VED BUENS ENDE and other experimenters. Listening early in the morning, when my mind was clear and relaxed, worked best for me. In the silence and the rhythm of the footsteps as I walked past the abandoned factory halls, the power of this record stood out the most. I imagined that there were long-abandoned mannequins inside, slowly coming to life. As the music graded, a chill went down my spine each time, I was confused, restless, just like the motifs on this record. Interestingly, everyone can perceive the music on "Humanism" in a completely different way. In this case, more than ever, it's better to listen and make up your own mind. After all, music is always a private matter. But I don't need to point that out to the readers of our website. Anyway, sometimes the songs are animalistic, raw, sometimes cold and dehumanizing. I felt the same way about sci-fi dystopian novels. Or just in factories, when the machines start their work. Or was it the people? I don't know, the distinctions have been blurring in recent years. It's as if every time MALCONFORT sticks its claw into me, causing a strange uneasiness in my mind. I don't like puppets, or dolls, I don't like the various mannequins, and every time I see them somewhere I feel strange and uncomfortable. Experimental, cold and dark black metal, the beating heart of human machines!

U některých hostin jsem zpočátku ostýchavý. Nevím, co mám ochutnat nejdříve. Některé pochoutky, které všem chutnají, tak mi příliš nevoní. Mám raději jednoduchá jídla, jasná a zřetelná. S hudbou to mívám velmi podobně. Jenže občas dostanu chuť na něco nového, neotřelého, zajímavého. Většinou si sednu, prohledám databázi novinek, které přišly na recenzi a vyberu si něco, co mě zaujme. S EVILYN to bylo zpočátku těžké. Nemohl jsem se do skladeb dostat, nebavily mě a několikrát jsem jejich debutové album odložil.

Raději jsem si chvíli četl, díval se na filmy. Přesto ve mě cosi hlodalo a musel jsem se k nahrávce vrátit. Jako bych chytil nějaký vir. Vůbec jsem zpočátku nevěděl, že v kapele působí zkušení muzikanti jako Alex Weber (Malignancy, Exist, Obscura - live, Anthony Lipari (Thoren) a Robin Stone (Norse). Vlastně ani nevím, kdy poprvé došlo ke vzájemnému přenosu a začala se mi deska líbit. Možná to bylo jedné deštivé noci, když byly mraky nízko a vypadalo to, že každou chvíli spadnou na zem. 


Nové album je volně inspirované tím, co hrají kapely typu MORBID ANGEL, DISCHORDIA, MAERE, COMA CLUSTER VOID, GORGUTS, SAEVUS FINIS. Rozhodně se jedná o nahrávku, která osloví spíše hudební gurmány, všechny ty maniaky, kteří ještě stále rádi objevují, mají bohatou fantazii a dokážou překousnout počáteční složitost skladeb. Po formální stránce se vše povedlo na výbornou. Zvuk (Mixed and mastered by Jeanne Comateuse) i obal (Artwork by Jeanne Comateuse (Coma Cluster Void)) jsou na velmi vysoké úrovni a vy se tak můžete plně soustředit na jednotlivé skladby. V některých momentech mi přijde album možná až příliš rozvláčné, ale moji připomínku berte s nadhledem. Desku je nutné poslouchat v kuse, v klidu a s plným soustředěním. Teprve potom vyniknou jednotlivé pasáže i odstíny. Zkrátka a dobře, hraje se tu technicky, disonantně, divoce, těžce a překvapivě. Každý song je samostatným opusem, temnou a chladnou symfonií. Nahrávka ale drží pohromadě i jako celek, je kompaktní a návyková. Je sice pravdou, že na podobné desky musím mít chuť a náladu, ale když už nastanou, tak rád volím "Mondestrunken". Jakoby tahle hudba ani nebyla z našeho světa, ale odněkud z vesmíru, ovlivněná civilizacemi, které jsou na tom technicky i mentálně lépe, než náš druh. EVILYN se představili ve velmi dobré formě a nahráli album, které rozhodně stojí za pozornost. A teď už mě prosím nechte, musím jít zase ochutnávat. Avantgardní, technický, disonantní death metal z jiných sfér!

I'm shy at first at some of the feasts. I don't know what to taste first. Some delicacies that everyone likes don't smell too good to me. I prefer simple dishes, clear and distinct. I'm very similar with music. But sometimes I get a craving for something new, novel, interesting. Usually I sit down, search the database of new releases that have come up for review and pick something that catches my eye. With EVILYN, it was hard at first. I couldn't get into the songs, I wasn't enjoying them, and I put their debut album on hold a few times.

I preferred to read for a while, watch movies. Still, something was gnawing at me and I had to go back to the record. It was like I'd caught a virus. I didn't know at first that the band had experienced musicians like Alex Weber (Malignancy, Exist, Obscura - live, Anthony Lipari (Thoren) and Robin Stone (Norse). Actually, I don't even know when the mutual transfer first happened and I started to like the record. Maybe it was one rainy night when the clouds were low and it looked like they were going to fall to the ground at any moment. 


The new album is loosely inspired by bands like MORBID ANGEL, DISCHORDIA, MAERE, COMA CLUSTER VOID, GORGUTS, SAEVUS FINIS. It is definitely a record that will appeal more to music gourmets, all those maniacs who still like to explore, have a rich imagination and can get over the initial complexity of the songs. Formally, everything has been done to perfection. Both the sound (Mixed and mastered by Jeanne Comateuse) and the artwork (Artwork by Jeanne Comateuse (Coma Cluster Void)) are of a very high standard, so you can fully concentrate on the individual tracks. In some moments I find the album perhaps too wordy, but take my comment with a grain of salt. The album should be listened to in one piece, quietly and with full concentration. Only then will the individual passages and shades stand out. In short, the playing here is technical, dissonant, fierce, heavy and surprising. Each song is an opus in its own right, a dark and cool symphony. But the record holds together as a whole as well, compact and addictive. It's true that I have to be in the mood for a record like this, but when the mood strikes, I like to choose "Mondestrunken". It's as if this music isn't even from our world, but from somewhere in the universe, influenced by civilizations that are technically and mentally better off than our species. EVILYN presented themselves in a very good form and recorded an album that is definitely worth your attention. Now please leave me alone, I have to go back to tasting. Avant-garde, technical, dissonant death metal from other realms!

Připadá mi to jako děsivý sen. Z nebe padá černý déšť a Smrt obchází kolem. Tratoliště krve, ještě před chvílí jsi letěl neskutečnou rychlostí. Život před sebou, rovná silnice, volnost a svoboda. Teď tu ležíš a bojíš se tmy. S polámanými kostmi, s krví, vytékající z čerstvých ran. Bolest a utrpení, srážka s krutou realitou. Ne, to není žádná noční můra, ale jenom studená zem a lidé stojící kolem. Natáčejí tě. Nepomůže ti nikdo. Na to nemá nikdo čas, všichni musejí sdílet tvoje utrpení. 

Jsou obrazy, které ze své mysli nedokážu vyhnat. Objevují se znovu a znovu v momentech, když poslouchám nahrávky, jako je tak druhá dlouhohrající od SWELLING REPULSION z Colorada. Jedná se o mé první setkání s touto kapelou a musím hned na začátek napsat, že se jedná o srážku s náklaďákem naloženým prašivými kostmi, zničujícím death metalem a spoustou progresivních prvků. 


Je to jízda na horské dráze. Od začátku do konce. Skladby v sobě mají potřebný drive a sílu, spoustu dobrých nápadů i takový ten zvláštní disonantní neklid, který mám u dobrých kapel rád. Ostré, nekompromisní melodie se zde potkávají s drtivými rytmy i zkaženou krví nasáklým vokálem. Jako celek je potom album velmi bolestivou záležitostí. Nebyl jsem při poslechu ani chvilku v klidu. Kapela mě chytla, zasekla do mě svůj dráp a nepustila mě až do konce. Vymáchala mi obličej ve špinavé kaluži, zaklekla na mě ocelovou botou, až mi vyrazila dech. Díval jsme se zrovna z okna, když narazil těžký náklaďák do osobního vozu. Ihned přijela záchranka a kolem se shromáždil dav toužící po krvi. Všechno - situace i hudba - se mi spojilo v jedno a musel jsem postupně přidávat hlasitost. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako ADRAMELECH, AFFLICTED, ATVM, DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, DEFECT DESIGNER, STARGAZER a další, které se nebojí experimentovat, potom jste zde správně. "Fatally Misguided" je deskou, která vám bude hořet v rukou a zadře se vám hluboko pod kůži. Pochválit musím i masivní, dobře čitelný zvuk, líbí se mi i obal (The Masked Observer). Svět je při poslechu velmi temné místo. SWELLING REPULSION se povedlo mě strhnout do hlubin. Připadá mi to jako děsivý sen. Z nebe padá černý déšť a Smrt obchází kolem. Tratoliště krve, ještě před chvílí jsi letěl neskutečnou rychlostí. Bolest a utrpení, srážka s krutou realitou. Ne, to není žádná noční můra, ale jenom studená zem a lidé stojící kolem. Natáčejí tě. Nepomůže ti nikdo. Technický, progresivní death metal, který vám nastaví kruté zrcadlo reality! Dokonalá iluze smrti!

It seems like a scary dream. Black rain falls from the sky and Death walks around. A pool of blood, just a moment ago you were flying at incredible speed. Life before you, a straight road, freedom and liberty. Now you lie there, afraid of the dark. With broken bones, blood oozing from fresh wounds. Pain and suffering, a collision with harsh reality. No, it's not a nightmare, just the cold ground and the people standing around. They're filming you. No one can help you. No one has time for that, everyone has to share your suffering. 

There are images I can't get out of my mind. They come up again and again in moments when I listen to records like this second long player from Colorado's SWELLING REPULSION. This is my first encounter with this band, and I have to say right off the bat that it is a truckload of mangy bones, devastating death metal, and plenty of progressive elements. 


It's a roller coaster ride. From start to finish. The songs have the necessary drive and power, a lot of good ideas and that strange dissonant restlessness that I like in good bands. Sharp, uncompromising melodies meet crushing rhythms and wicked blood-soaked vocals. As a whole, then, the album is a very painful affair. I wasn't at peace for a moment while listening to it. The band grabbed me, stuck their claw into me and didn't let go until the end. It washed my face in a filthy puddle, knocked me over with a steel-toed boot until it took my breath away. I was looking out the window when a heavy truck crashed into a passenger car. The ambulance arrived immediately and a crowd gathered around, baying for blood. Everything - the situation and the music - came together and I had to gradually turn up the volume. If you like bands like ADRAMELECH, AFFLICTED, ATVM, DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, DEFECT DESIGNER, STARGAZER and others who are not afraid to experiment, then you've come to the right place. "Fatally Misguided" is a record that will burn in your hands and burrow deep under your skin. I must also praise the massive, easy to hear sound, and I like the cover art (The Masked Observer). The world is a very dark place when you listen to it. SWELLING REPULSION managed to pull me into the depths. It feels like a scary dream. Black rain falls from the sky and Death walks around. A pool of blood, just a moment ago you were flying at incredible speed. Pain and suffering, a collision with harsh reality. No, it's not a nightmare, just the cold ground and the people standing around. They're filming you. No one can help you. Technical, progressive death metal that sets you a cruel mirror of reality! The perfect illusion of death!

Na hudbě je krásné to, že mě stále dokáže přenést do jiných dimenzí. Jsem již starý pes, který začínal kdysi dávno na rockové klasice, ale stále mě baví objevovat. Mám několik svých požadavků, které musí kapela splňovat. Dobrý zvuk je povinností, stejně jako zajímavé nápady.  O amerických THE LAST OF LUCY jsem již psal, u příležitosti jejich minulého alba "Moksha" (2022). Recenzi si můžete přečíst, je odkazována dole pod článkem. Pánové se letos opět posunuli a vy si tak můžete vychutnat jejich novinku.

Přiznám se, že to pro mě byla opět trošku výzva. Musím se na podobný styl soustředit, musím pokaždé otevřít svoji mysl. Chvilku mi to trvalo (proto také vydávám recenzi až teď), ale nakonec se to podařilo - došlo ke vzájemnému přenosu mezi mnou a hudbou téhle americké kapely. "Godform" je trefa přímo do živého!


Je to opět nářez, ve stylu třeba takových THE FACELESS, ARCHSPIRE, GOROD, ARKAIK a dalších, kteří se snaží překračovat hranice. Základem je brutální death metal, přidávány jsou potom velmi vkusně technické a progresivní prvky. Je to přesně ten druh koktejlu, který když ochutnáte poprvé, tak nebudete vědět, jestli vám chutná a nebo nikoliv. Teprve až časem, až vše uzraje a usadí se, vynikne teprve síla celé nahrávky. Je pro mě vlastně těžké o novém albu psát. Mohu vás ale ujistit, že zvuk je parádní, surový, bolestivý, obal od Pära Olofssona se také povedl. To jsou ale formální věci, bez kterých se dobré kapely neobejdou a jsou základem i povinností. Pánové ale přidávají ještě něco navíc. Spoustu dobrých nápadů, různých odboček, motivů, momentů, které se vám zadřou pod kůži i do podvědomí. THE LAST OF LUCY jsou jako dobře seřízený stroj, jako poslové z vesmíru, jako ozvěny z jiných světů. Pro poslech doporučuji klid a plné soustředění, teprve až potom vyniknou jednotlivé pasáže. Kýval jsem se spokojeně do rytmu, i když je prostým faktem, že v této odrůdě extrémní hudby si opravdu velmi vybírám. Novinka je jako dobrý sci-fi film se spoustou nápadů, s temnou atmosférou. Kapela si hraje s náladami, jako predátor se svojí kořistí. Výsledkem je nahrávka, která vám shoří v rukou. Za mě osobně nelze jinak, než doporučit všem s otevřenou myslí. Třaskavý, ostrý a syrový, technický progresivní death metal s temnou aurou!

The beautiful thing about music is that it can still transport me to other dimensions. I'm an old dog who started out on rock classics a long time ago, but I still enjoy exploring. I have a few requirements of my own that a band has to meet. A good sound is a must, as well as interesting ideas.  I already wrote about the American THE LAST OF LUCY, on the occasion of their last album "Moksha" (2022). You can read the review, it is linked below the article. The gentlemen have moved on again this year, so you can enjoy their new release.

I admit that it was a bit of a challenge for me again. I have to focus on a similar style, I have to open my mind every time. It took me a while (that's why I'm publishing the review now), but I finally did it - there was a mutual transfer between me and the music of this American band. "Godform" is a direct hit!


It's a blast again, in the style of such bands as THE FACELESS, ARCHSPIRE, GOROD, ARKAIK and others who try to cross the boundaries. The base is brutal death metal, then very tastefully technical and progressive elements are added. It's exactly the kind of cocktail that when you taste it for the first time, you won't know if you like it or not. It's only with time, when everything matures and settles down, that the strength of the whole record becomes apparent. It's actually hard for me to write about the new album. But I can assure you that the sound is awesome, raw, painful, the cover artwork by Pär Olofsson is also great. But these are the formal things that good bands can't do without and they are both essential and obligatory. But the gentlemen add something extra. Lots of good ideas, various digressions, motifs, moments that get under your skin and into your subconscious. THE LAST OF LUCY are like a well-tuned machine, like messengers from outer space, like echoes from other worlds. For listening I recommend calmness and full concentration, only then will the individual passages stand out. I swayed contentedly to the rhythm, though it's a simple fact that I'm really very selective in this variety of extreme music. The novelty is like a good sci-fi movie with lots of ideas, with a dark atmosphere. The band plays with moods, like a predator with its prey. The result is a record that will burn in your hands. For me personally, I can't help but recommend it to anyone with an open mind. Shattering, sharp and raw, technical progressive death metal with a dark aura!

Byla mlha a chlad mi pronikal pomalu do kostí. Šel jsem pomalu a dával pozor, abych neupadl. Klečel uprostřed cesty a měl hlavu skloněnou. Nejdřív jsem si myslel, že je mrtvý, ale začal odříkávat jakési tajemné modlitby. Mluvil neznámou řečí. Oči měl obrácené dovnitř hlavy a vše působilo hrozně podivně. Když jsem na něj promluvil, otočil se mým směrem a z úst mu začala téct krev. Příroda kolem ztichla a já dostal strach. Byl v jiné dimenzi, byl ve světě, ze kterého se neodchází. 

Poslouchal jsem  zrovna novou desku progresivních thrash death metalistů HEMOTOXIN z Pittsburg. Hudba se mi dostávala pomalu do podvědomí, drásala moje vnitřnosti, kolovala mi v žilách. Stala se mojí součástí, až jsem najednou dostal velkou chuť se s vámi rozdělit o pár dojmů. Pro její pochopení musíte mít fantazii a touhu objevovat nové cesty. Myslím si, že mé další setkání s touhle smečkou se opět povedlo (recenze na předchozí desky si můžete přečíst dole pod článkem). 

 

Jsou zkrátka nahrávky, které raději poslouchám, vracím se k nim, pokaždé objevuji něco nového, než abych o nich psal. Myslím si totiž, že má slova nestačí. Pánové totiž napsali složité, komplikované skladby, plné různých stylových odboček. Zároveň se ale album velmi dobře poslouchá. Pokud bych měl novinku nějak popsat neznalému, asi bych volil volné přirovnání třeba k DEATH, CYNIC, CONTROL DENIED, VEKTOR, VOIVOD, REVOCATION, ale i třeba MORBID ANGEL. Berte ale moje slova s nadhledem. HEMOTOXIN jsou osobití a originální hlavně ve svém přístupu. Umí skvěle hrát, ale také složit motivy, které hoří jasným plamenem. "When Time Becomes Loss" má samozřejmě velmi dobrý zvuk (Andrew Lee - producer, recording, mixing, Justin Weis - mastering) i povedený obal (Mark Cooper). Vy se tak můžete plně soustředit na jednotlivé nápady. Líbí se mi lehkost, vzdušnost, která se prolíná celým albem jako jedovatý had. Je to jízda na horské dráze. Zažívám pocity euforie, což je pro mě jasným znamením, že se pánové přesně trefili do mého vkusu. Je ale také pravdou, že jsem se musel do novinky prokousávat postupně. Potřeboval jsem klid a nejlépe chladný les brzy ráno. Nejdřív jsem si myslel, že jsem mrtvý, ale začal jsem odříkávat jakési tajemné modlitby. Mluvil jsem neznámou řečí. Oči jsem měl obrácené dovnitř hlavy a vše působilo hrozně podivně. Cítil jsem černou energii z vesmíru, vnímal jsem, že existuje ještě jeden svět, za zrcadlem. Tak to vidíte, jaké představy ve mě dokáží HEMOTOXIN probudit. Patří jim za to velký dík. Letošní album se opravdu povedlo. Všem vám je doporučuji. Podívejte, padá hvězda. Nebo to jsou vetřelci? Poslouchejte pozorně. Progresivní thrash death metal, který vás vezme na výlet do temného časoprostoru!

It was foggy and the cold was slowly penetrating my bones. I walked slowly, taking care not to fall. He was kneeling in the middle of the road, his head bowed. At first I thought he was dead, but he began to say some mysterious prayers. He spoke in an unknown language. His eyes were turned inside his head, and everything looked very strange. When I spoke to him, he turned in my direction and blood began to flow from his mouth. Nature around me became silent and I became afraid. He was in another dimension, he was in a world you don't leave. 

I was listening to the new album by progressive thrash death metallers HEMOTOXIN from Pittsburgh. The music was slowly getting into my subconscious, tearing my insides, circulating in my veins. It became a part of me, until I suddenly had a great desire to share some impressions with you. To understand it, you must have imagination and the desire to discover new ways. I think that my next encounter with this pack was again a success (you can read reviews of previous albums below the article). 


In short, there are recordings that I prefer to listen to, to go back to, to discover something new every time, rather than to write about them. Because I don't think my words are enough. The gentlemen have written complex, complicated songs, full of various stylistic digressions. But at the same time the album is very easy to listen to. If I had to describe the new album to an ignorant person, I would probably choose a loose comparison to DEATH, CYNIC, CONTROL DENIED, VEKTOR, VOIVOD, REVOCATION, but also MORBID ANGEL. But take my words with a grain of salt. HEMOTOXIN are distinctive and original especially in their approach. They know how to play well, but also how to compose themes that burn with a bright flame. "When Time Becomes Loss" has of course a very good sound (Andrew Lee - producer, recording, mixing, Justin Weis - mastering) and a hilarious cover (Mark Cooper). So you can fully concentrate on the individual ideas. I like the lightness, the airiness that runs through the whole album like a poisonous snake. It's a roller coaster ride. I experience feelings of euphoria, which is a clear sign for me that the gentlemen have hit my taste exactly. But it's also true that I had to bite into the novelty gradually. I needed peace and preferably a cool forest early in the morning. At first I thought I was dead, but I started saying some kind of mysterious prayer. I spoke in an unknown language. My eyes were turned inside my head and everything seemed very strange. I felt black energy from outer space, I felt that there was another world beyond the mirror. So you can see what imagery HEMOTOXIN can awaken in me. For that I owe them a big thank you. This year's album was really good. I recommend it to all of you. Look, a star is falling. Or is that aliens? Listen carefully. Progressive thrash death metal that will take you on a trip to dark space-time!

Nejdříve na něm nebylo nic vidět. Stále se usmíval a všichni jej měli rádi. Začalo to děsivými sny, ve kterých se mu do vnitřností zakouslo něco zlého a ošklivého. Budil se uprostřed noci, mlátil hlavou o zeď. Bylo pro něj čím dál těžší se přetvařovat. Bál se světla, lekal se stínů. Líbil se mu pohled na krev, na utrpení. Vyhledával jenom děsivé filmy a po nějakém čase nevěděl, co je pravda a co lež. Teď tu sedí, uprostřed chladné a temné místnosti. Zavřený ve své cele se usmívá. Už dávno ví, že peklo opravdu existuje.

O kapele RED ROT jsem toho příliš nevěděl. Musím ale napsat, že moje první setkání bylo spíše obřadem, než jen obyčejným poslechem. Seděl jsem ve svém pokoji a mraky nad městem byly nízko. Blížila se bouře. Zazněl první riff, první mocný motiv a venku zahřmělo. 


Tahle kapela je složená ze samých zkušených muzikantů. Ti se již podruhé sešli, aby nahráli album, které je po okraj narvané tmou, chladem, smutkem, melancholií, paranoiou, i prvky doomu, deathu a thrashe. Vše je zamíchané v jedovatém koktejlu, který když vypijete, tak budete mít šílené představy i noční můry. RED ROT jsou naléhaví, drásaví, syroví. Jejich hudba má v sobě všechny prvky, atributy i náležitosti k tomu, abych ji poslouchal ve studeném větru, v mocném dešti i ve chvílích, kdy mám pocit, že se celý svět zastavil. Je to hudba, u které musíte přemýšlet a vyžaduje od posluchače soustředění i pořádnou porci fantazie. Musíte jí dát čas, aby postupně uzrála, aby se vám dostala do krve i do hlavy. Naleznete zde surovost MORBID ANGEL, smutek PARADISE LOST, ozvěny z vesmíru jako od VOIVOD i třaskavou směs CONVERGE. Pánové rádi a často překračují běžné hranice. A dělají to velmi elegantně. A hlavně, mě baví jejich novou desku "Borders Of Mania" poslouchat. Je zkrátka jiná, progresivní, experimentální. Zároveň, a to je pro mě velmi důležité, pokaždé v ní najdu něco nového. Co se týká zvuku, obalu, celkové produkce, tak vše je v nejlepším pořádku. Můžete si tak naplno vychutnat jednotlivé ozvěny. Někdy přemýšlím o lidské mysli, o její složitosti, o jejích temných zákoutích. Kde se v nás bere nenávist a zlo? Nejdříve na něm nebylo nic vidět. Stále se usmíval a všichni jej měli rádi. At first, there was nothing visible on him. He was always smiling and everybody liked him. It started with terrifying dreams in which something evil and ugly bit into his insides. Waking up in the middle of the night, banging his head against the wall. It was getting harder and harder for him to disguise himself. He was afraid of the light, afraid of the shadows. He liked the sight of blood, of suffering. He sought out only scary movies, and after a while he didn't know what was true and what was false. Now he sits here, in the middle of a cold and dark room. Locked in his cell, he smiles. He's known for a long time that hell really exists.

I didn't know much about the band RED ROT. But I must write that my first encounter was more of a ceremony than a simple listening session. I was sitting in my room and the clouds were low over the city. A storm was coming. There was the first riff, the first powerful motif, and it thundered outside. 


This band is made up of all experienced musicians. They have come together for the second time to record an album that is filled to the brim with darkness, coldness, sadness, melancholy, paranoia, and elements of doom, death and thrash. It's all stirred up in a toxic cocktail that, when you drink it, will give you crazy fantasies and nightmares. RED ROT are urgent, gut-wrenching, raw. Their music has all the elements, attributes and essentials to make me listen to it in the cold wind, in the mighty rain and in moments when I feel like the whole world has stopped. It's music you have to think to and it requires concentration and a good dose of imagination from the listener. You have to give it time to mature, to get into your blood and into your head. Here you will find the rawness of MORBID ANGEL, the sadness of PARADISE LOST, echoes from outer space like VOIVOD and the shattering blend of CONVERGE. The gentlemen are happy to and often do transcend normal boundaries. And they do it very elegantly. And most of all, I enjoy listening to their new album "Borders Of Mania". It's simply different, progressive, experimental. At the same time, and this is very important for me, I find something new in it every time. As far as the sound, the cover, the overall production is concerned, everything is in the best order. You can fully enjoy the individual echoes. Sometimes I think about the human mind, its complexity, its dark corners. Where does hatred and evil come from? At first, there was nothing to see in him. News! - Mean Messiah vydávají nové album.


Mean Messiah vydávají nové album

29.února vychází u nakladatelství Black Barn Music už třetí deska prog-industrialistů Mean Messiah s názvem IN INFINITE ILLUSION. Album již vzniklo kompletně v novém složení kapely, kde se vedle frontmana Dana Frimla objevil bubeník Miloš Meier (Dymytry, Drumming Syndrome) a baskytaristka Lenka Čechová.

Deska obsahuje 8 skladeb o celkové stopáži 39:23 a všechny byly nahrány na podzim 2023 ve studiu The Barn, kde byly následně mixovány a masterovány pod taktovkou Dana Frimla. Autorem grafiky je také Dan a obal je přesně v duchu názvu alba - In Infinite Illusion! 🤘🔥 CD totiž vychází jako jewel case a přední i zadní artwork jsou vytištěny na průhledném plastu, po složení leporela vytvoří vrstvená grafika nový obrazec. Do leporela je navíc vložen dvanáctistránkový papírový booklet s texty a fotografiemi🤘📸

Někdy se dostanu do stavu, kdy chci být sám. To potom sedím v koutě a prosévám mezi prsty prach. Přemýšlím o světě, pokouším se zastavit čas. Čtu knížky, ve kterých je pravda i bolest. Není to smutek, ani deprese. Spíše mi všechno kolem připadá rychlé, šílené a podivné. Nebo jsem jiný já? Občas je dobré se zastavit a srovnat si myšlenky v hlavě. V těchto případech je pro mě velmi důležitá hudba. Už zase se těším, až přijdu domů z lesa a začnu si číst. Hrají mi tu nové MADDER MORTEM a na mé tváři se začíná objevovat úsměv.

Napsat dobrou skladbu je umění. Norové mají obrovský talent na to vytvořit absolutně podmanivou atmosféru. Stačilo několik prvních tónů a byl jsem ihned chycen. Čekal jsem přesto několik týdnů, jestli ze mě nadšení nevyprchá. Nestalo se tak, naopak, letošní album mě stále přitahovalo a rád se k němu vracím. Má v sobě totiž něco, co nikdo jiný neumí. Zvláštní náladu, magnetismus, sílu chcete-li. Je tak příjemné být sám ve společnosti téhle nahrávky. 


Je úžasné, jak jsou i po více než 25 letech MADDER MORTEM stále svěží, neotřelí, jak je baví hrát. Všechna ta energie, nasbíraná snad v norské přírodě (nemůžu si pomoc, ale já ji tu opravdu cítím), všechna ta hravost, radost z hudby samotné. K tomu si připočtěte velký talent a charismatický hlas Agnete M. Kirkevaag. Tohle všechno je dohromady doslova návykové. Kapela staví na své historii, základem je stále tradiční doom metal, ale své myšlenky nadále rozvíjí. A to takovým způsobem, že budete chtít vylézt na nejbližší horu, dívat se do hlubiny. Je to touha létat, vznášet se, dívat se na řeku, která před vámi plyne jako věčnost. Těch emocí, různých zákoutí. Od temnoty až k radosti. Norové jsou hlavně uvěřitelní. Nemají problém s tím vložit progresivní motiv, zakouřené blues, severský vítr. A všechno dohromady to funguje. Pamatuji si, že někdy kolem roku 2000 jsem kamarádovi říkal, že tahle kapela je úkaz, k dokonalosti vybroušený drahokam. Letos svůj status opět potvrdili. Nedávno jsem v jedné hospodě potkal chlápka, který byl opilý. Měl vedle sebe urnu s popelem. Nevím proč, ale pokaždé si na něj vzpomenu, když poslouchám "Old Eyes, New Heart". Mám pocit, jakoby v pozadí stále tepalo srdce. Dívám se do tmy, naslouchám temnotě. Našlapuji opatrně, když se toulám přírodou. Vracím se zmrzlý a znovu otevírám knihu. Čtu si a hudba, hrající v pozadí, není nikdy kulisou. Naopak, vystoupí do popředí, strhne mě, rozdrásá moji duši i fantazii. Ne, přiznávám, má slova rozhodně nestačí. Nechme raději hovořit melodie. Jsou velmi silné, magické, je v nich obsažena věčnost. Někdy se dostanu do stavu, kdy chci být sám. To potom sedím v koutě a prosévám mezi prsty prach. Přemýšlím o světě, pokouším se zastavit čas. Album plné snění, naděje i smutku. Dokonalý obraz nás samých! Budete rozdrásáni! Křišťálově krásná hudba plná odkazů na naše vlastní kořeny i vznešenost!

Sometimes I get to the point where I want to be alone. Then I sit in a corner and sift the dust between my fingers. Thinking about the world, trying to stop time. I read books with truth and pain in them. It's not sadness or depression. Rather, everything around me seems fast, crazy and strange. Or am I different? Sometimes it's good to stop and sort out the thoughts in my head. In these cases, music is very important to me. I'm looking forward to coming home from the woods and reading again. The new MADDER MORTEM is playing and a smile is starting to appear on my face.

There is an art to writing a good song. The Norwegians have a great talent for creating an absolutely captivating atmosphere. All it took was the first few notes and I was immediately hooked. Still, I waited a few weeks to see if the enthusiasm would wear off. It didn't happen, on the contrary, this year's album still drew me in and I love coming back to it. It has something that nobody else can do. A special mood, magnetism, power if you like. It's so nice to be alone in the company of this record.


It's amazing how after more than 25 years MADDER MORTEM are still fresh, fresh and fun to play. All that energy, gathered perhaps in the Norwegian nature (I can't help but feel it here), all that playfulness, the joy of music itself. Add to that the great talent and charismatic voice of Agnete M. Kirkevaag. All of this together is literally addictive. The band builds on their history, the foundation is still traditional doom metal, but they continue to develop their ideas. And it does so in such a way that you'll want to climb the nearest mountain, to look into the depths. It's a desire to fly, to float, to look at the river that flows before you like eternity. The emotions, the different corners. From darkness to joy. The Norwegians are mostly believable. They have no problem putting in a progressive motif, smoky blues, Nordic wind. And it all works together. I remember telling a friend sometime around 2000 that this band is a phenomenon, a gem cut to perfection. This year, they've reaffirmed their status. I met a guy in a pub the other day who was drunk. He had an urn with ashes next to it. I don't know why, but I always think of him when I listen to "Old Eyes, New Heart". I feel like my heart is still beating in the background. I look into the darkness, I listen to the darkness. I tread carefully as I wander through nature. I return, frozen, and reopen the book. I read and the music playing in the background is never a backdrop. On the contrary, it rises to the fore, sweeps me away, tears at my soul and my imagination. No, I admit, my words are not enough. Let the melodies do the talking. They are very powerful, magical, they contain eternity. Sometimes I get to the point where I want to be alone. Then I sit in a corner and sift the dust between my fingers. Thinking about the world, trying to stop time. An album full of dreams, hope and sadness. A perfect picture of ourselves! You'll be torn apart! Crystal beautiful music full of references to our own roots and grandeur!

Představte si starý dům, temný a opuštěný, do kterého když vstoupíte, tak budete mít divný pocit. Začně vás mrazit v zádech a stíny se promění v přízraky. Podají vám ruku a pozvou vás dolů, do sklepa. Půjdete s nimi, jako omámení. Budete podvědomě vědět, že děláte správnou věc. Zastavíte se před rezavými dveřmi a v hlavě vám bude létat spousta otázek. Vezmete za kliku, ozve se děsivé skřípání a potom vás zahalí tma. Našlapujete opatrně a pod nohama křupají staré kosti. Slunce na konci tunelu. Jiný svět, dimenze, místo, na kterém se hraje jenom dobrá a zajímavá hudba.

Takové myšlenky mě napadaly, když jsem slyšel poprvé novou debutovou desku švýcarských maniaků DYSSEBEIA. Ti hrají death metal ušpiněný blackem, se spoustou progresivních pasáží. Hudbu téhle smečky nelze jen tak jednoznačně zařadit a je to dobře. Tady se hraje pro všechny fanoušky s dobrou fantazií a otevřenou myslí. 


Nevím, jestli se vám to někdy také stává, ale já mívám často zvláštní sny. Hraje mi v nich muzika, kterou mám rád. Pokaždé, když potkám nějakou novou kapelu, kterou si postupně oblíbím, dostane se mi i do spánku. Bývá to pro mě důkazem, že se deska povedla. Musím cítit ze skladeb sílu, energii, musím si podupávat do rytmu a kývat spojeně hlavou. A to se mi u "Garden of Stillborn Idols" stalo vlastně pokaždé, když jsem si album pustil ve svém přehrávači. Nahrávka je velmi dobře zvukově ošetřená a motiv na obalu je bezesporu zajímavý. Povedla se ale hlavně hudba, jednotlivé motivy, nápady, deska je jako nějaký monolit, který na vás spadne a rozmáčkne vás. Jasně, člověk musí mít mysl otevřenou a alespoň nějakou dávku fantazie, ale potom, když se vše usadí, dostane se vám určitě pod kůži. Mám to takhle rád. Jen si tak sednout, poslouchat, nechat na sebe muziku působit a když se mi líbí, tak o ní sepsat pár slov. DYSSEBEIA jsou přesně tím druhem skupiny, která osloví všechny, kteří rádi přemýšlejí, objevují nové věci. Když totiž budete poslouchat pozorně a v klidu, tak i po delší době budete objevovat nová a nová zákoutí. Švýcaři jsou navíc muzikanti, kteří hrají i v dalších skvělých smečkách (STORTREGN, HYPOCRAS), takže lze novinku klidně označit vysokou známkou kvality. Za sebe vám to mohu podepsat vlastní krví. Až se zastavíte před rezavými dveřmi a v hlavě vám bude létat spousta otázek. Vezmete za kliku, ozve se děsivé skřípání a potom vás zahalí tma. Budete našlapovat opatrně a pod nohama vám budou křupat staré kosti. Slunce na konci tunelu. Jiná dimenze, místo, na kterém se hraje jenom dobrá a zajímavá hudba. Progresivní death metal protkaný zajímavými a mocnými melodiemi! Symfonie z jiného světa!

These were the thoughts that came to mind when I first heard the new debut album from Swiss maniacs DYSSEBEIA. They play death metal stained with black, with a lot of progressive passages. The music of this pack can't be classified in any clear way and that's a good thing. This is a band for all fans with a good imagination and an open mind.


I don't know if this happens to you too, but I often have strange dreams. I have them with music I like. Every time I meet a new band that I gradually grow to like, I get to sleep too. It's usually proof to me that the record has done well. I have to feel the power and energy from the songs, I have to be tapping to the beat and nodding my head in unison. And that's pretty much what happened with "Garden of Stillborn Idols" every time I put the album in my player. The recording is very well sonically treated and the motif on the cover is undoubtedly interesting. But it's mostly the music, the individual motifs, the ideas, the record is like some kind of monolith that falls on you and crushes you. Sure, you have to keep an open mind and at least some amount of imagination, but then when everything settles down, it gets under your skin for sure. I like it that way. Just sit back, listen, let the music affect me, and if I like it, write a few words about it. DYSSEBEIA are exactly the kind of band that appeals to everyone who likes to think, to discover new things. Because if you listen attentively and calmly, even after a long time you will discover new and new corners. Moreover, the Swiss are musicians who also play in other great packs (STORTREGN, HYPOCRAS), so the novelty can be safely marked with a high mark of quality.
