Asi dovedete pochopit, že jsem si musel pořídit i letošní kompilaci. Myslím si, že pro fanoušky, jako jsem já, se jedná o povinnost. Na CD totiž najdete pohromadě skladby z různých splitek a demonahrávek. Před hodinu doom death metalového obřadu od nejpovolanějších. Pradávné rituály smrti znovu ožívají. Zhasněte všechna světla!
Všechny skladby byly nahrány v Mr. Doom studiu. Zvuk nelze jinak, než pochválit. Je studený, prašivý a velmi uvěřitelný. Kapela nám všem opět dokazuje, že je ve velmi dobré formě. Když si vzpomenu na jejich koncert v Praze, dodnes mě mrazí v zádech. Jednalo se o jedno z nejlepších vystoupení, jaké jsem v životě viděl. Líbí se mi i obal od mistra Roberta Toderica. Je na něm pravděpodobně jeden z démonů, které můžete potkat, když budete tuhle desku poslouchat stále dokola jako já. Kdo dnes recenzované tmáře neznáte, věřte tomu, že mohou směle konkurovat kapelám jako PARADISE LOST, SHADE OF DISPAIR, MY DYING BRIDE, HOODED MENACE, SOLOTHUS, COFFINS, ANATOMIA, WINTER, ASPHYX, BOLT THROWER. Vzduchem se vznášejí mrazivé nálady, které lze potkat snad jen ve starých katakombách. Pánové dokáží vytvořit velmi podmanivou a chladnou atmosféru. Oceňuji i způsob, jakým jsou songy na kompilaci seřazeny. Kombinace pomalejších pasáží, které řežou jako nůž do syrového zmrzlého masa a prašivého smrtícího kovu, je smíchána ve velmi jedovatém koktejlu. Věřím kapele každý tón, každou notu. To je pro mě asi nejdůležitější. Jsem starý pes, který zvedá hlavu už jenom v případech, když ho nějaká muzika zaujme. Píšu a podporuji kapely, o kterých si myslím, že mě dokáží provést záhrobím. TEMPLE OF VOID mi byli opět skvělými průvodci a převozníky přes řeku Styx. Pokud rádi a často trávíte svůj čas ve stínu, neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete v podstatě dokonalou stylovou porci zmrzlého masa. Mrazivý, temný doom death metal, u kterého potkáte všechny své noční můry! Přízraky se potkávají démony!

It's probably got one of the demons on it that you might encounter if you listen to this record over and over like I did. Chilling moods that can only be found in old catacombs float through the air. The gentlemen can create a very captivating and cold atmosphere. I also appreciate the way the songs are arranged on the compilation. The combination of slower passages that cut like a knife into raw frozen flesh and mangy death metal is mixed in a very toxic cocktail. I trust the band with every note, every note. Jednou jsem při svých toulkách uviděl uprostřed lesů ruiny. Pátral jsem ve starých spisech a zjistil jsem, že zde kdysi bývala vesnice. Církev ji nechala vypálit, protože se domnívala, že jsou všichni prokletí. Usednu na černý kámen a přede mnou se začnou odehrávat příběhy plné bolesti a utrpení. Víra je slepá a zdejší lidé se vzepřeli. Obrátili všechny kříže směrem dolů, zničili kostely a rouhali se. Při pradávných rituálech vyvolali přízraky a děsivé démony. Musím potvrdit, že je zde zlo stále velmi silné a čitelné. Úplně stejně to mám i s novou deskou polských válečníků HORDA.
Jedná se o druhé dlouhohrající album. A opět máme co do činění se špinavým, mocným black death metalem, který se hraje na obřadech pro vyvolávání temných sil. Stačilo mi několik málo poslechů, abych ihned věděl, že tahle smečka je poctivá, uvěřitelná. Pánové moc dobře vědí, jak zhudebnit vztek, nenávist i chladnou tmu. Z mlhy při poslechu vystoupily postavy v kápích. Usmívaly se, moc dobře věděly, že se zde hraje i pro ně. Pro ně i pro všechny prokleté.
Líbí se mi způsob, jakým na mě skladby působí. Opravdu si přijdu jako na nějakém starém pohřebišti, na kterém byli pohřbeni hříšníci. Stylově lze kapelu zařadit do stejných katakomb jako třeba MGLA, BELPHEGOR, BEHEMOTH (staré desky), UADA, PLAGA, BLAZE OF PERDITION, GROZA. Pánové umí být divocí a suroví, ale dokáží způsobit i mráz v mých žilách. Oceňuji opravdu skvělý zvuk (Mix and Master by Motus). Líbí se mi i obal, který mi připomíná starou francouzskou školu (Baphore). Určitě jste také někdy měli šílené noční můry, ve kterých jste několikrát umřeli, padali jste do nekonečné hlubiny po zádech. Tak přesně takové pocity mám i z nové desky "Form". Jakoby existoval ještě jeden svět, negace všeho dobrého, absolutní tma. Někde v těchto místech muselo být album nahráváno. Několik metrů v podzemí. Uprostřed lesa, v ruinách prokleté vesnice. Otáčím ruce směrem k nebi a v dlaních se mi objevují stigmata. V chladných chodbách znesvěceného kostela, v nočních hodinách, ve studených katakombách, vynikne síla této nahrávky nejvíce. Pro mě osobně se jedná o velké překvapení nejen tohoto roku. Jsem starý metalový pes a musím muzikantům věřit. Musí mě pohřbít zaživa. A to se kapele HORDA povedlo na výbornou. Připadám si jako v krvavé mlze, prokletý a navěky odsouzený k toulání mezi naším a oním světem. Nemrtvý, bez duše, bez svědomí. Našlapuji opatrně a pod nohama mi praskají kosti mých předků. Poláci umí být suroví, mraziví i temní zároveň. Slyšte ozvěny z druhé strany! Obraťte všechny kříže směrem dolů! Bestiální black death metal, který vás spálí na popel! Mrazivé ozvěny z prokletých kostelů!

Once, while wandering, I saw ruins in the middle of the woods. I searched through old writings and found that there used to be a village here. The church had it burned down because they thought everyone was cursed. I sit on a black stone and stories of pain and suffering begin to unfold before me. Faith is blind and the people here have rebelled. They have turned all the crosses down, destroyed the churches and blasphemed. In ancient rituals, they summoned phantoms and terrifying demons. I have to confirm that the evil is still very strong and clear here. I feel the same way with the new album of Polish warriors HORDA.
This is their second full-length album. And once again we are dealing with dirty, powerful black death metal, played in ceremonies to invoke dark forces. It only took me a few listens to immediately know that this pack is honest, believable. The gentlemen know very well how to musicalize anger, hatred and cold darkness. The hooded figures emerged from the fog as I listened. They were smiling, knowing full well that they were being played for. For them and for all the damned.
I like the way the songs affect me. I really feel like I'm in some old burial ground where sinners were buried. Stylistically the band can be placed in the same catacombs as MGLA, BELPHEGOR, BEHEMOTH (old records), UADA, PLAGA, BLAZE OF PERDITION, GROZA. Gentlemen can be wild and brutal, but they can also cause chills in my veins. I appreciate the really great sound (Mix and Master by Motus). I also like the cover art, which reminds me of the old French school (Baphore). Bylo to jako nějaká nákaza. Les sebevrahů. Oběšenci, houpající se ve větru. S vyplazenými jazyky. Každý den ráno nové tělo. Odřezáváš provaz a slyšíš šepot nemrtvých. Černá rakev a pohřeb za hřbitovní zdí. Nikdy nezapomenu na dlouhé noci v márnici, když jsem hlídal, aby nikdo neutekl. Nemrtví by mohli vyprávět. Smrt má mnoho podob a ta, kterou nám předkládají američtí death metalisté GROTESQUERIES je hodně krutá a morbidní. Jako postavy, houpající se ve větru, jako odříznutá těla, která naříkají.
Pro pochopení téhle nahrávky doporučuji absolutní tmu. Jedná se o starý, prašivý smrtící kov, který se kdysi hrával v devadesátých letech minulého století. Pánové ho uchopili za ten správný konec. Představte si shnilou dřevěnou rakev a v ní jedno zohavené tělo. Zapnete play a mrtvola se posadí. Je vám doufám jasné, že když budete pokračovat, tak vám prokousne hrdlo? Koneckonců, posuďte sami.
Novinkové album na mě působí takovým tím skvělým morbidním, děsivým a hororovým dojmem. Pánové se volně inspirovali u kapel typu POSSESSED, CIANIDE, AUTOPSY, VITAL REMAINS, MASSACRE, PESTILENCE, MASTER, MORBID ANGEL, DETERIOROT, ale i spousty dalších. To ale není zase tolik důležité, každý starý fanoušek si najde to svoje. Hlavní jsou pro mě přenesené emoce, celkový dojem. A GROTESQUERIES dokáží být brutální, suroví, chladní i temní a nebojí se ani doomových nálad. Jako celek působí deska velmi kompaktním dojmem. Opravdu doporučuji poslouchat v kuse. Teprve potom vynikne skvělý masivní a zničující zvuk (Chris Leamy - Recording, Mixing, Magnus Lindberg - Mastering). Dělá mi radost se dívat i na parádní obal (Calvin Cushman). Tahle smečka myslí svoji hrobnickou práci smrtelně vážně. A není to jenom dnes tolik častá kopie věcí minulých. Naopak, riffy vám odsekají maso od kostí, bicí rozdrtí mozek a vokál vás nakazí šílenou chorobou. Pohybuji se v podzemí již velmi dlouhou dobu a stále si pro sebe objevuji nové kousky shnilého masa. "Vile Crematory" vám mohu jenom doporučit. Ocení jak všichni prokletí, tak démoni i tmáři, kteří již dlouhé roky neviděli světlo. Tohle album je pokryté starou prašivinou, snětí a svrabem. Bylo to jako nějaká nákaza. Les sebevrahů. Oběšenci, houpající se ve větru. S vyplazenými jazyky. Každý den ráno nové tělo. Odřezáváš provaz a slyšíš šepot nemrtvých. A když vám řeknu, že členy kapel TORTURED jsou zkušení maniaci, kteří moc dobře ví, o čem tehle styl je?
Jedná se o první dlouhohrající album kapely. Zároveň také o kus mokvajícího, shnilého masa. Tahle hudba má v sobě velkou spoustu temné energie, tlaku a bolesti. Již při prvním poslechu kývám souhlasně hlavou a říkám si, že přesně takhle by to mělo vypadat. Žádné zbytečnosti, žádné kompromisy. Jenom krutá a hnusná smrt.
Představte si bazén plný zkažené krve. Jestli to ještě nevíš, tak si další na řadě. Připrav se a zapni play! Zažijete neskutečné. Divoké, perfektně propracované bicí (Frank Smith), vokál hladové bestie (Flo Butcher) a riffy, u kterých vám popraskají všechny kosti v těle (Oscar Ortega). Tohle všechno dohromady působí jako přesně seřízený stroj na zabíjení. Pochválit musím zvuk (Alexander Borovykh) i stylový obal (Jon Zig). Pokud jste fanoušci stylu, tak rozhodně neváhejte. Dostanete zde poctivou porci shnilého masa, který vám bude podáván velmi elegantně. I zabíjet hudbou se musí umět a tihle vzteklí psi jsou mistří ve svém oboru. Stylově se pohybují pánové ve stejné stoce, jako kapely typu BEHEADED, DISAVOWED, STABBING, GORGASM, PYREXIA. Zkrátka a jednoduše, jestli jste někdy viděli záběry z tsunami, tak asi víte, o čem píšu. Pokud jste, stejně jako já, znechuceni stavem dnešního světa a chováním lidí, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Tahle smečka vám pročistí hlavu tou nejkvalitnější kyselinou. Modlíš se, aby ti půjčili brokovnici. Chceš si vystřelit mozek z hlavy, chceš už dávno přejít na druhou stranu. Měl bych pro tebe lepší nápad. Narvi si do uší "Genetically Engineered Monstrosity" a uvidíš, že se ti uleví. Poslouchat tuhle desku je jako se dívat na smrt v přímém přenosu. Stalo se to již několikátý den po sobě. Přijdeš ráno na hřbitov, otevřeš rezavou bránu a jsi v šoku. Lebky poházené po zemi, popraskané rakve. Vytrhané náhrobky a kříže, obrácené směrem dolů. Vše uklidíš a zavřeš se přes zlým světem do márnice. Tady, mezi mrtvými je ti dobře. Na město padne tma a stíny se začnou toulat ulicemi. Čekáš na ně, jsi připravený. Nelze je zabít, nelze je zničit. Prokousnou ti hrdlo a staneš se jedním z nich. A ke všemu vám bude hrát nové EP německých maniaků CADAVEROUS STENCH.
Ano, pro tuhle hudbu musíte být podchlazený pod bod mrazu. Teprve potom si jejich syrový, temný a zničující death metal ze staré školy vychutnáte. Jakoby mi někdo podával syrové maso na víku od rakve. Plesnivý zvuk, morbidně krásný obal. Těšíš se na další noc, na další exhumaci hlubokých hrobů.
Dal jsem si před mnoha lety za úkol podporovat podobné smečky. Musí splňovat několik mých požadavků. Musím jim jejich hudbu věřit, musí se mi líbit zvuk a obal a potom musím cítit ze skladeb opravdovost. Musí mě přikovat na zeď. A u CADAVEROUS STENCH mám pocit, že poslouchám staré poctivé hrobníky, kteří nejen, že rozumí svému řemeslu, ale zároveň hrají od srdce. Je pro mě velmi příjemné se vrátit po časové ose zpět do devadesátých let minulého století. Tenkrát se formoval i můj hudební vkus. Sedával jsem u přehrávače a klaněl se smečkám jako MASSACRE, OBITUARY, PESTILENCE, ASPHYX, ENTOMBED a spoustě dalších. Tihle maniaci to měli, předpokládám, hodně podobné. Kapele se povedlo přenést ducha starých časů do současnosti. A udělali to s elegancí zkušených mistrů v oboru. Je to masakr, u kterého praskají prašivé kosti, pukají lebky a na hřbitově není místo, kde byste se mohli před touhle smrští ukrýt. Kývám se do rytmu, podupávám nohou, rozpustil jsem si své šedivé vlasy a hledám, kde jsou ty nejkrásnější zombie. Přiznám se bez mučení, že se mi EP "Cadaverous Stench" líbí po všech stránkách. Má v sobě drive, sílu, pradávnou energii, kterou můžete posbírat pouze hluboko pod zemí. Hrobku s názvem CADAVEROUS STENCH označte prosím známkou kvality. Doporučuji ji já, všichni nemrtví i démoni temnoty. Až se jednou rozpadnete v prach, tak určitě má slova potvrdíte. Stalo se to již několikátý den po sobě. I made it my mission many years ago to support similar packs. They must meet several of my requirements. I have to believe in their music, I have to like the sound and the cover art, and then I have to feel the songs are genuine. They have to drive me up the wall. And with CADAVEROUS STENCH, I feel like I'm listening to honest old gravediggers who not only understand their craft, but also play from the heart. It's very nice for me to go back in time to the 1990s. My musical tastes were formed then too. I used to sit in front of the record player and bow down to packs like MASSACRE, OBITUARY, PESTILENCE, ASPHYX, ENTOMBED and many more. These maniacs were, I suppose, very similar. The band managed to bring the spirit of the old days to the present. And they did it with the elegance of experienced masters in the field. It's a massacre that cracks mangy bones, cracks skulls, and there's no place in the cemetery where you can hide from the carnage. I will admit without torture that I like the "Cadaverous Stench" EP in every way. It has a drive, a power, an ancient energy that you can only muster deep underground. Please mark the tomb called CADAVEROUS STENCH with a quality mark. I recommend it to myself, all undead and demons of darkness. Once you crumble into dust, you will surely confirm my words. Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
Cadaverous Stench was founded during the Christmas holidays of 2022 and at first this was not supposed to be a real and serious project. We are playing old-school death metal.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
Our self-titled EP "Cadaverous Stench" was recorded in our little studio which we built. We can offer recording/mixing for other bands, if you like our sound just drop us a message ( cadaverous.stench.berlin@gmail.com ) (Vocal, Guitar) was responsible for every step - recording, mixing, mastering and uploading to streaming.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
We are still working on printing the first batch of CDs. We are planning to release 300 copies and will see how it goes from there. But you can already buy/listen to our EP on all popular platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Bandcamp, YouTube).
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
Ed (Vocal, Guitar) wrote all the lyrics. The lyrics mainly focused on a story of a serial killer - on his perverted mind and heinous crimes. We are planning to expand this topic in our full-length album which we are working on at the moment. Album will walk the listener through the whole life of this man, describing his birth, childhood and hunt for human prey.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
We are open for any offer from interested labels, we don't have any at the moment.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
We mostly listen to old bands which have stood the test of time. Slayer, Death, Morbid Angel, Entombed, Dismember and Suffocation - these bands we all love and listen to all the time.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
Not yet, we want to wait for our CD release first.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
As a Cadaverous Stench we are yet to play gigs because the band is quite new. But every band member has a lot of stage experience with previous bands/projects. As of now our drummer decided that love and his girl are more important than the band and Death Metal. We wish him all the best. What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
Our main goal is to record and release a full-length album. We are working really hard to bring even more aggression and brutality to Death Metal fans!

Příběh čtyř stý třináctý - Vítězství ve volejbale pro dobrou věc.
Celý turnaj vznikl víceméně náhodou. Jak jinak, v hospodě. Seděli jsme s učitelkama a holky mi vyprávěly o nějaké jejich spolužačce, která už má dítě. Jak už tomu někdy bývá, tak se otec k dítěti moc nehlásil. Vadilo mu, že je pořád nemocné a také neuměl převzít zodpovědnost. A jak už tomu taky bývá, tak jí příroda nebo Bůh naložili ještě víc trápení. Její dcera měla leukémii. Opili jsme se a neustále se bavili o tom, jak bychom jí mohli pomoci. Hned druhý den jsem rozhodil sítě na strojárně. Napadlo mě, že bychom udělali nějaký menší koncert, na kterém bych všechny poprosil, aby pomohli. Jenže jsem se setkal s odmítnutím, v některých případech i hnusnými řečmi typu, co je komu do nějaký malý holky, která stejně nakonec zemře. Uvědomoval jsem si čím dál tím víc, že inteligence zaměřená na technické vědy neznamená automaticky inteligenci sociální. Nevím vlastně proč nám začalo všechno vrtat hlavou. Pořád dokola jsme rozebírali, jak bychom mohli pomoc. Něco jiného totiž je, když se jedná o úplně cizího člověka a nebo když jej znáte.
Říkejme jí třeba Marie. Byla to drobná dívka, na kterou si každý dovolí. Měl jsem chuť ji obejmout, chránit. Oči od pláče, moc nám děkovala, ale sama nevěděla, co bychom mohli udělat. Nakonec blondýnku napadlo, že bychom mohli uspořádat s peďákem turnaj. Nejdříve padl fotbal, ale protože bylo na téhle škole většina žen a dívek, byl volejbal jasnou volbou. Někde jsem viděl plážový a moc se mi líbil. Pak už to šlo ráz na ráz. Kamarádky náš návrh nadchnul. Uděláme to tak, že se domluvíme v tělocvičně, budeme vybírat dobrovolné vstupné. Musím říct, že mě mí přátelé vyloženě nadchli. Chtěl jsem hrozně moc pomoc. Byli jsme totiž na návštěvě v nemocnici a když jsem viděl ty krásný oči a holou hlavu, měl jsem co dělat, abych se nerozbrečel. Svět je někdy hrozně nespravedlivej a čtenáři mých příběhů ví, jak mi zemřel kamarád v pubertě. Také si pamatují, jak jsme kdysi v Boleslavi hráli pro děti na oddělení v nemocnici divadlo.
Každý přiložil ruku k dílu. Michal si vzal na starosti propagaci. Obcházeli fakulty a byli s Blankou skvělí. Turnaj měl začít za 14 dní a oni každý den odpoledne, někdy i během vyučování vyvěšovali plakáty, rozdávali letáky. Reakce lidí nás víceméně pozitivně překvapila. Nápad s turnajem dvojic byl asi fakt dobrý, protože hodně studentů bylo napárovaných. Nastaly ale první dotazy. Ano, mohou se zúčastnit i dvě holky nebo kluci a nemusí spolu chodit. Nálada na štábu, jak jsme našim pravidelným organizačním hospodám říkali, byla skvělá. Ze všech byla cítit dobrota a nadšení. Docházelo k mnoha dojemným situacím. Třeba jeden kluk, co měl starý rezavý auto po dědovi, vozil Marii každý den do nemocnice, čekal celou dobu někde v koutě, aby ji pak zase odvezl domů, případně tam, kam potřebovala. Jen tak, pro pocit, že někomu pomáhá. Všichni ti ochlastové a pařiči dávali dopředu peníze a bylo jich tolik, že jsme si museli na koleji pronajmout trezor. Ano, pronajmout. Protože pan vedoucí nebyl příznivý naší věci.
Ještě jeden poznatek. Šprti s námi nechtěli mít nic společného a i když mám živnostníky a podnikatele hrozně rád, tak jejich děti si spíše hleděli svého. Nikoho jsme do ničeho nenutili, přišlo nám to špatně. Ale někteří jedinci mě zklamali tím, jak o nás mluvili. Ano, jsou tu zde klasické pomluvy. Kecy a kecy. Setkávám se s tím celý život. Jakmile chcete pro někoho něco udělat a snažíte se srdcem, věnujete tomu čas, tak si zapište za uši, že se objeví několik jedinců, kteří budou hnusní. Jeden kluk byl tak sprostý na moji budoucí ženu, když za ním přišla s prosbou o přispění, že jsem musel zakročit. Šel jsem a vyříkal jsem si to s ním. Prostě jsem ho vzal pod krkem a řekl mu od plic, co si o něm myslím. Ale držel jsem se. Věděl jsem, že kdybych mu dal normálně do držky, pošpinil bych naši věc. Klevety jsou hrozná věc. Dnes už to tak nikomu nepřijde, protože na tom jsou založené celé sociální sítě, ale tenkrát to fakt bolelo. Ale pojďme raději k tomu dobrému.
Pomohli nám i někteří učitelé. Často se o tom dozvěděli náhodou a přišli. Na peďáku dokonce pár z nich sestavilo týmy. Hodně se o nás mluvilo a bylo to skvělý. Lidi když chtějí, tak jsou úžasný. Blanka stála u vchodu a peníze se jen sypaly. Holčička potřebovala léky, které u nás nebyly dostupné. Mařenka seděla na čestném místě a brečela, protože když viděla všechny ty hodné dobráky, kteří nejsou normálně k zastižení a zvednou zadek jen v podobných chvílích, byla dojatá. Začalo se hrát a musím říct, že jsem si na své začátky ve sportu hodně rychle vzpomněl. Na to, že jsem už dlouho nehrál a blondýnka se ochomýtla kolem sportu jen když musela, tak nám turnaj velmi dobře odsýpal. Jednou jsem dostal od smíšené dvojice budoucí učitel a budoucí právnička takovou ránu míčem do hlavy, že jsem myslel, že nebudu moc pokračovat. Taky jsme zavedlo jednu věc, o které si myslím, že nám pomohla vyhrát. Po každém vyhraném setu jsme si dali pusu. Na lavičkách to vřelo a nás to strhlo. Vůbec nechápu, kde se v mé dívce vzaly všechny ty přihrávky, rybičky, skoky i blokování. Jsi pro volejbal zrozena. Nebýt tvého velkého poprsí, mohli jsme hrát závodně. Takhle ti vadí na síti, dělal jsem si srandu.
Možná jsme mohli chlastat a nadávat na celej svět, jako to dělali po hospodách skoro všichni, ale ne, to my se snažili, semkli jsme se pro dobrou věc. Fascinovalo mě to. Hrozně jsem lidem věřil, byl jsem nadšený a když nám předávali šek na dvacet tisíc (což byly hrozný peníze) od jednoho ze sponzorů, kteří se objevili, ani nevím kde, do mikrofonu jsem koktal. Ale žena mi říkala, že jsem byl roztomilý. Samozřejmě, na chvilku mi hlavou proběhla dovolená třeba v Paříži, ale je jasný, co jsem s penězi udělal. Stačilo se jen na sebe podívat a koutkem oka zahlédnout Marii. Blekotal jsem něco o tom, že tahle výhra je pro její dcerunku a bylo to celý hrozně hezký. Snad jí to pomůže. Odnesli jsme prachy do trezoru a šli se opít. Těch emocí bylo tolik, že nešlo jinak. Vyprávěli jsme si o jednotlivých zápasech, o tom, jak kdo hrál, jak se třeba objevil jeden dobrodinec, přinesl peníze a zase odjel. Nebo o stařence a stařečkovi, kteří přijeli přes celé město s pár stovkami. Bože, ty to vidíš! Křičeli jsme a byli děsně rádi, že se nám všechno povedlo.
Ranní opice byla šílená. Žena vypadala o dost lépe než já, ale také měla bolehlav. Dali jsme vyprošťováka a přemýšleli, jak peníze odneseme do nemocnice. Jdu za Michalem a říkám mu, ty vole, já se stydím, musíte jít s námi a taky, je to děsně moc peněz. Potřebuju ochranku. Nesli jsme tašku a děsně se hlídali. Sice nám ještě několik desítek tisíc chybělo, ale víc jsme se snažit nemohli. Jedeme na Locháč a pořád se ohlížíme za sebe. Čtveřice mladých studentů, kteří ale zrovna nevypadali jako typičtí žáci vysoké školy. Oba dlouhé vlasy, rozdrbané džíny. Aspoň, že jsme s sebou vzali holky, ty vypadají slušně a mohli by nám věřit. na vrátnici si ale pán myslel něco jiného. Hrozně dlouho kouká na občanek, má spoustu dotazů. To jste jen tak, sami od sebe, vybrali peníze? Zrovna vy? A neukradli jste je někde? Naštval mě. To je takový ten pocit, když jste rozjetý, všichni okolo jsou dobří a pak potkáte jednoho debila. Zařval jsem na něj, že chci mluvit s primářem.
Sedíme v čekárně a kolem nás jsou rodiče nemocných dětí. Všechno je hrozně depresivní. Na některých je vidět, že se modlí. Asi jim nic jiného nezbývá. Tady by bylo potřeba tolik pomoci. Možná by stačilo pro začátek jen vymalovat, ta šeď je hrozná, pošeptá mi Blanka a já s ní musím souhlasit. Konečně nás přijme. Vyslechne nás a pak chvilku mlčí. No ale, my nemůžeme přijímat jen tak peníze. To musí být oficiální dar. Nerozumíme. S byrokracií jsem se setkal v naší zemi už tolikrát. Jasně, že jsme byli naivní. Víceméně nás vyhodí. Takovej zmetek, jak může léčit lidi, uleví si Michal. Zaslechne jej na chodbě jedna mladá lékařka. Blanka si sedne a rozpláče se. Celé jsme to dělali zbytečně? Ale ne, jak jsme byli nadšení, tak se nás drželo štěstí jako hovno košile. Paní lékařka nebo tedy ještě slečna, nám pomohla. Přinesla formulář, vyplnili jsme jej a pak už stačilo jen zajít do banky, vložit peníze na můj účet a následně je ihned převést. Všechno jsme absolvovali spolu, aby nebylo do budoucna pochyb. Znáte lidi.
Uplyne asi měsíc a jak už to bývá, nadšení vyprchá. Dokonce zaslechneme občas názory typu, jestli to vůbec k něčemu bylo. A že se máme jít zeptat a cože jsme s těma prachama udělali. Hele, bylo mi dvacet a v těchto věcech jsem byl spíš nadšený nováček se srdcem na dlani, než nějaký zkušený matador. Já se styděl, fakt že jo. Nebylo mi dobře, v nemocnicích jsem se nikdy necítil. Ale měl jsem u sebe skvělou holku. Držela mě za ruce. Kolečko přes vrátného, nepříjemný primář, vše se opakuje. Mám ale s sebou svoji šťastnou hvězdu a s ní není na náhody nouze. Potkáme Marii, jak jde proti nám. Jakmile nás uvidí, rozeběhne se a usmívá se. Najednou vypadá o hodně mladší, silnější. Obejme nás a začne líbat. Bože můj, co blázníš, dyk nás umačkáš, říkáme a ona září a překotně nám říká, že léky zabraly, že malá je čím dál tím lepší a že když to takhle půjde dál, brzy ji dokonce pustí domů. Není sice vyhráno, ale je to na dobré cestě. To už ale máme radost i my, protože konečně někde existuje spravedlnost. Vezmu holky kolem pasu a jdeme do města pěšky. Jen tak, protože se dobrá věc podařila. Hele, ale víš co jediný vůbec nechápu, zeptám se na náměstí. Koukají na mě u andělíčka, kam přišla poděkovat. No, jak jsme ten turnaj mohli vyhrát. A pak už se jen smějeme na celé kolo.
Klaním se a vždycky se budu klanět lidem, kteří pomáhají druhým. Odříkají si, odtrhují od huby, aby pomohli tam, kde je to potřeba. Jsme přeci lidi, ne? Přeji hezký den všem, kdo mají dobrou vůli. A děkuji za to, že jste!

1. Avel PERRACIDE! Greetings to the Swedish catacombs, Master Perra Karlsson! I must begin by thanking you very much. Your album "Underdog" has been a great backdrop for me in the last few months, not only at work, in the pub, in the car, but also at home, with concentrated listening. You are a famous and experienced drummer, why did you decide to start PERRACIDE in the first place? Please take us through the history.
Perra: That's awesome to hear you appreciate it that much man. I'd not say that I am much of a famous drummer, but perhaps a little bit known in the underground perhaps. The reason I started this whole project was because I got tired of waiting around for the members of my other bands Nominon and Dreadful Fate to prioritize music instead of other things. I get it however, it's not the same thing when you are around 40-50 years old, you have responsibilities, families, work etc etc. However, I got frustrated and I decided to start my own thing, I had already five drum tracks arranged, recorded and ready to go. At first it was meant for an English guitar player to write some riffs for the songs, but he took forever to make it happen, and didn't present much to me at all. So yeah, that also led to further frustration. I had enough and started my own thing by using those five tracks, as well as decided to record some songs of previous bands that I have been involved with.
2. You are a member of great bands like NOMINON, DARKENED, DREADFUL FATE, IN AETERNUM, NIFELHEIM, BENEDICTION, DESTROYER 666 and many more. You played drums everywhere. But with PERRACIDE you're also a singer, a songwriter. Does that mean you play other instruments as well? I'd be interested to know how the new songs were created. How does Perra Karlsson write and compose?
Perra: Nah, I am not much of a guitar player at all. I can barely play. I wrote a song on guitar for Dreadful Fate a few years ago that we haven't recorded yet, and I am not sure we will ever record it? So who knows, it might end up on the next Perracide album?
I am not really a member of all those bands you mentioned, I used to be in most of 'em. I am with Darkened today, and Nominon (even though we haven't been that active for years now, but that's about to change now, hopefully.) The other bands are put on ice, and or I have left them over time.
The Perracide songs came together like this, I had five songs written/arranged/recorded on drums ONLY, and then some good friends/musicians put riffs and leads and stuff over the drums, and we shared the song writing credits 50/50. I have never heard any drummer doing that in the past, so it was a bit of an experiment that really turned out brutal, yet cool.
And yes, I sing lead vocals on the track "Silence the world", especially since I was forced to do so by Simon Wizén, who I co-wrote the track with, and he pushed me to do the vocals as well, since the lyrics I wrote for it are very personal. To my surprise it turned out pretty fucking good, if I may say so myself.
3. "Underdog" is a combination of your own original songs and cover versions. How did you choose the songs you covered? I see them as your tribute to the bands you like and have been in. Am I getting this right?
Perra: First of all, I don't really like to call them cover songs, especially since I got most of the original guys playing and recording the songs with me, straight from the original bands. So in a way they are just updated re-recordings, updated versions with me on drums. But I understand if people consider them being cover-songs, and I'm fine with that, really.
I ended up choosing the particular tracks that I enjoyed the most while I was a member of the band, when we rehearsed them back in the day, or performed them live or whatever. But yeah, in a way you're correct, I guess one could say it's a tribute to the bands themselves as well. It's just so cool that I could get that many original, or long time band members involved you know, like Daz, Rewy & Dave Hunt from Benediction, KK and Bez from D666, Anders, Rickard & Urban from Nasum, Hellbutcher, Batte, Johan and John Zwetsloot from Nifelheim for example. Feels really good when I think about it.
4. Personally, I really like the sound. I was a little worried about whether the new and "old" songs would fit together, but they do. The album was mixed and mastered by God Olson from DARKENED. Why him? And what studio did you record in? The sound is old, dusty, just the way I like it!
Perra: Yeah man, I like the sound & production too. Gord did such a kick ass job with putting everything together. I got to know Gord from the Angelblast project that we did together a few years ago, that turned out killer too. He was in charge of that production, and it turned out so damn brutal. So he was obviously my first choice when I started looking for people to be involved in the Perracide production. And again, he just put everything together and it turned out simply brilliant. You have to remember that there are close to 30 different musicians involved/performing on the Perracide album "Underdog". Just thinking of it makes my head spin, you know. Ha ha. Gord is a master at work, and I just can't thank him enough for all the blood, sweat and tears that he put into this album and production.
5. You've got a lot of guests on your record. How did you choose them? Are they old friends or did you just ask someone? They all did a great job, but I have to mention at least a few whose performances literally kicked my ass. Marc Grewe (his voice literally kills), Johan Jansson and Jörgen Sandström (both the same!). How did the collaboration go?
Perra: At first, you're mistaken about Johan, since he isn't performing on the actual album. Johan is like a brother to me, and it would simply have been too easy to have him on this first Perracide album (so maybe next time...) So instead I chose to record the Interment (Johan's band) track with two other Interment members; Simon Wizén (who plays guitar and sings on the song) & Allan Lundholm (who plays bass.) They are also close friends of mine, especially Simon, who helped me a lot with this album as well, both pre-production wise and more. For example, he was the one helping me and guiding me when I laid down the vocal tracks for the track "Silence the world". So the point with the Interment track was to celebrate and pay tribute to my brother Johan Jansson, and to his surprise we managed to keep it secret from him until we had a listening party when I turned 50 years old in February. Oh boy, he was surprised, it was awesome to see. Marc Grewe then, he has been one of my favorite vocalists since the dawn of time really. I saw and worked a bit with Morgoth back in the early days, 1991, when they were here playing in Fagersta. Then when I played a few festivals here and there in Europe between 2011-2013 when I was out playing with Benediction, I ran into Marc a few times, and we always ended up chatting. So when I needed a vocalist for the opening track "Inexorable", I contacted Marc, and he said "Yes!" pretty much straight away. He did such a marvelous job with the vocals and as you said, it turned out killer! The same with Jörgen Sandström. Jörgen is one of the first freaks I ever started writing letters with in 1990, when I had just started my fanzine Mould Mag, plus that I had joined the band Suffer. It was the glorious days of underground Metal for sure. Since then I have met Jörgen quite a bunch of times, and we always catch up a bit and talk, you know. He is a dear friend for sure. So I guess it's fair to say that I have picked some really good old friends for this first Perracide album. Then again, for the "cover" songs I just wanted to have as many members (old & new) of the bands that I could find, more or less. At least getting some members involved that were in the band at the same time as myself.
6. You're a drummer in body and soul, a master in your field with a lot of great work and recordings that are forever written in the old archives. I wonder when and how you got into this instrument? Are you self-taught or did you go to art school?
Perra: It came natural to me I guess one could say. I started to bash stuff around the house when I was 9-10 years of age, and my dad thought it would be a good idea to get a small drum kit for me, which he did, and the rest is history as they say. Haha. I took some lessons at an early stage, but I got bored pretty much straight away, since the teachers wanted me to play the same kind of rhythms and beats for such a long time, so I got bored and just went home, sat down in the basement of our house and bashed out my guts on the drums to the groups I was listening to at the time instead, like Mötley Crüe, Kiss, Black Sabbath and so forth. I did that for a few years really, and during that period I also tried to get some sort of Rock & Hardrock bands going, but it was very hard to find people my age that had the same burning passion for music as myself.
7. Did you have any role models? Is there anyone that you said, I want to be like that? I mean, I started out on Saxon, Motorhead, Sodom. What bands and drummers have influenced you the most?
Perra: In the early years I worshipped drummers like Tommy Lee, Cozy Powell, Vinnie Appice, Tommy Aldridge and Clive Burr. Later on I got hooked on Mikkey Dee in King Diamond, and a bit after that Mike Portnoy in Dream Theater, Sean Reinert in Cynic/Death, and of course Snowy Shaw, and since I love Annihilator I got hypnotized by Mike Mangini on his work on the album "Set the world on fire". All these drummers have meant a lot to me, and they have all inspired me over the years. Each and every one of them are drummers that I can go back to every now and then and just find new stuff with, even on the older stuff they recorded back in the days you know. They're all magicians in my book.
8. Is music also your job? Is it possible to make a living as a drummer these days? Music is downloaded from the internet and you don't exactly play in bands that sell out big stadiums. If you have a job that supports you, how do you juggle gigs, recording records, etc.?
Perra: I don't live much on music these days, no. Especially since I am not part of any touring bands and so on. When I was in Deströyer 666, all I did was to be out playing and touring, and we sold quite a bunch of merch every night, so we could somehow survive even though we didn't make a fortune or whatever. That was between 2015-2017, during the world tour for the album "Wildfire". But before that and after, I eventually get some merch sold here and there, and that's about all the money I can make. My day job since 2017 is bus driver, I have also worked previously with both in Stockholm and Jönköping so it's nothing new really. Music (especially Metal) will always be a massive part of my life, and I don't do it to become famous or whatever, I play the music I love, that's all.
9. You lived through the glory days of Swedish death metal. How do you remember it? Do you have any funny stories, experiences? What was it like in the 90s in Sweden? I guess there are many, but I'll ask for at least some. Your first gig? And your first performance on stage?
Perra: Man, I hope you understand me when I say that this question alone could more or less be the whole interview. Hahaha. So many memories, so much fun, superb friendship, yet also sour and competitive shit going on every now and then. It was a very special time for sure, and shitloads of shows all the time. From smaller shows with just 20-25 people up to a thousand or so. It all depends on when and where it was. I mean, for example; One of the earliest Death Metal shows I went to in early 1990, in Motala, Sweden, there were around 35-40 people in the audience, on stage that night were Toxaemia, Cadaver,Therion & Entombed. I mean 35-40 people?! Ha. It's mental when you think about the line-up. The same night I also met Jon Kristiansen from Slayer Mag for the first time, what a legend. But if we travel back in time, the first Metal show I ever attended was when W.A.S.P. came to Sweden on their first European tour in 1984, and I was 11 years old, just a tiny little kid you know. It was crazy, but I am so proud that I went to the show and that the memories will live on forever. The first proper Death Metal show I played was with Suffer, us and Johan Jansson's band at the time Beyond played support to Merciless and Dismember in Avesta, Sweden, late 1990. Another show with probably 50 people in the audience. But as I said, when it comes to Death Metal, and the Swedish scene between the late 80's and early 90's, I could talk for all eternity, so I guess it's for the best that we take that some other day.
10. Times have changed a lot over the years. The internet has come in, the whole world is suddenly connected. There's also a lot of new technology in the studios, musicians are playing more technically, progressive. How has all this influenced you? Are you a person who follows new trends or do you prefer the old ways?
Perra: To sum it up, I'm a bit of both (not when it comes to following trends though.) BUT - If you do stuff as a musician on a studio recording that you're incapable of doing live, then you are a poser loser, period. Nowadays, when you're in a studio for a day to record a full album, well, you have one DAY, or lets say max eight HOURS. Personally I'd say that I have good days, and I have bad days. If I'm having a bad day in the studio, it's good that I am able to record a song in two or three pieces, and then put it all together you know, to save time and mental energy. If you call that cheating, well, that's cool with me, then I am a cheater. Haha. What I can remember from the Perracide drum recordings right now is that the Interment song "Torn from the grave" I did in one take, from start to finish.
11. You were 50 years old in February. You have a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge. You've played in a lot of legendary bands, you've made a record that's excellent. You could say you're very successful. Do you have any other dreams? And I don't mean just in music.
Perra: I am living the dream already, mate. I've done it all now, I can die a happy chap. Haha!! Seriously, I would love to take Perracide to the stage. When I was starting to plan for the video recording for the track "Silence the world" in late April this year, I needed to get some sort of a line-up together. Who should I call? Well, first of all, I got Simon Wizén onboard of course, since he is the co-writer of the song with me. I also called Sebastian Ramstedt (Necrophobic, In Aphelion) and asked him if he was interested, and after a few minutes of chatting and thinking he said "Yes! I'm in!" So, I knew there and then that I wanted my brother Johan Jansson to play bass on the video, and he gladly accepted. So there it was, the first Perracide full line-up. Ha! We had a lot of fun recording that video, and Rafael Barros did such tremendous work with cutting and editing it. Turned out absolutely killer I must say, waaaaay better than I could ever have hoped for. My brain just now noticed that you said that it doesn't necessarily have to be music, and here I am babbling my mouth about nothing BUT music. Haha. Well, you know, my life is basically music, so why am I not surprised?! When I have some time off, to do things that aren't musically related, I usually hang out with my wife and our dogs at home, take my Harley out for a ride, go and visit friends that I rarely see due to work, music and other occupations. I used to travel a lot before, around the world, but in the last couple of years I haven't travelled outside of Sweden at all, so I'd like to do that. I still haven't been to Asia for example. But I have to be honest, when it comes to accomplishing and doing things, I am already pretty satisfied, I am not much of an adventurous person anyway, to be honest. I like to be around people I love when I have some time off, listen to music, talk shit and perhaps go out having a great time/meal or something, that's about it really.
12. I wish you all the best for the years to come. May you do well professionally, may you have full concerts, may your records sell. Thank you so much for the interview, and you know what? I'm gonna turn "Underdog" up real loud so the neighbors can be happy! Stay strong!
Perra: Any neighbour that doesn't appreciate Perracide by now, isn't a neighbour worth knowing. Haha. Thank you so much for the interview and support. You make me go on, to tell you the truth. To hear from people like you that appreciate what I do, my music, and want to explore more of who I am as a person and a musician, that makes me glad you know. I have struggled for so many years to try to stay positive, and yet here I am, feeling better than ever and I want to show people that no matter how many fights you have fought, never fucking surrender. Just make sure to be the best version of yourself, fuck what other people say about you, if they try to put you down. Never give in, sure, you can walk away. But the thing is that if you walk away, you probably do so for a reason, and that is because you have left that part of your life behind, it doesn't have to be a negative thing for an individual with a strong mind that knows thyself.
