Probudí mě siréna. Další útok, další bolest a utrpení. Tisíce mrtvých, zohavená těla, temnota a zlo, kterých je schopen pouze člověk. Byla to jen otázka času, kdy bude jaderná elektrárna zničena. Sežehnuti plamenem pomsty se potácíme černou tmou. Odsouzeni k smrti. Vlastně ani nevím, proč se začalo bojovat. Určitě to byla nějaká hloupost, jak už tomu většinou bývá. Tušil jsem, že to jednou přijde. Nasvědčovalo tomu všechno. Chování lidí, lži, kterým každý věřil. Poslední dny na tomhle prokletém světě strávím ve společnosti portugalské kapely BIOLENCE a jejich zničující hudby.

Pravověrní asi moc dobře vědí, že tahle smečka datuje svůj vznik do roku 1998. Jedná se tak o zkušené veterány, kteří moc dobře ví, jak napsat dobré skladby. Letošní třetí dlouhohrající album je toho jasným důkazem. Ostrý thrash metal a smradlavý prašivý death metal, obojí smíchané ve vzájemném třaskavém poměru. Při poslechu téhle nahrávky uvěříte, že apokalypsa už dávno začala. 


Po formální stránce musím vyzvednout opravdu velmi povedený motiv na obalu. Skvělý, ostrý a masivní je i zvuk. Co se týká hudby samotné, tak se pánové inspirovali ve staré škole. Zároveň mají svůj vlastní výraz, nápady, invenci. Jedovatý vokál, riffy, které vás rozsekají na malé kousky, drtivé bicí, tohle všechno dohromady tvoří koktejl, který když vypijete, tak zemřete krutou a dlouhou smrtí. Dívám se zase jednou do tmy, naštvaný z večerních zpráv. Lidé se nikdy nepoučí a historie se opakuje s bolestivou pravidelností. Místo toho, abychom se poučili, tak děláme stále stejné chyby. Kdy a kde vypukne další válka? Kolik životů bude zničeno? Ne, já už chci mít klid, už jsem starý pes a viděl jsem až příliš utrpení. Raději se zas a znovu zavírám do svého pokoje a pouštím si stále dokola "Violent Obliteration". Není to samozřejmě album, které by obrátilo běh hudebních dějin, ale to zde ani není účelem. Mám podobné poctivé kapely, které se toho nebojí a hrají si po svém, moc rád. Ale to vy, naši pravidelní čtenáři moc dobře víte. Až tahle recenze vyjde, tak bude zničeno další město, zemřou lidé, nevinní. Nemám radu, jak z toho ven, ale napadá mě, že kdybychom raději všichni poslouchali muziku a dali si pivo, bylo by to lepší. Brzy mám navštívit jeden jaderný rektor. Jako turista. Moc dobře vím, že si na cestu vezmu novou nahrávku BIOLENCE a budu se modlit, abych neshořel na popel. Je to velmi dobré album po všech stránkách. Rozhodně by vám nemělo uniknout. Probudí mě siréna. Další útok, další bolest a utrpení. Tisíce mrtvých, zohavená těla, temnota a zlo, kterých je schopen pouze člověk. Byla to jen otázka času, kdy bude jaderná elektrárna zničena. Sežehnuti plamenem pomsty se potácíme černou tmou. I wake up to a siren. Another attack, another pain and suffering. Thousands of dead, mutilated bodies, darkness and evil, of which only man is capable. It was only a matter of time before the nuclear power plant would be destroyed. Burned by the flame of revenge, we stagger through the black darkness. Condemned to death. Actually, I don't even know why the fight started. It was definitely some stupidity, as it usually is. I suspected that it would come one day. Everything pointed to it. People's behavior, the lies that everyone believed. I will spend my last days on this cursed world in the company of the Portuguese band BIOLENCE and their devastating music.

The orthodox probably know very well that this pack dates its formation to 1998. These are experienced veterans who know very well how to write good songs. This year's third full-length album is clear proof of that. Sharp thrash metal and stinking dusty death metal, both mixed in a shattering ratio. Listening to this record, you'll believe the apocalypse has already begun.


In terms of form, I have to mention the really cool motif on the cover. The sound is also great, sharp and massive. As for the music itself, the guys were inspired by the old school. At the same time, they have their own expression, ideas, invention. Poisonous vocals, riffs that will chop you into small pieces, crushing drums, all of this together creates a cocktail that, if you drink it, will cause you to die a cruel and long death. I look into the darkness again, annoyed by the evening news. People never learn and history repeats itself with painful regularity. Instead of learning, we keep making the same mistakes. When and where will the next war break out? How many lives will be destroyed? No, I want peace, I'm an old dog and I've seen too much suffering. I'd rather lock myself in my room again and again and play "Violent Obliteration" over and over again. Of course, it's not an album that would change the course of musical history, but that's not the purpose here. I really like such honest bands that aren't afraid of it and play their own way. But you, our regular readers, know that very well. When this review comes out, another city will be destroyed, people will die, innocent people. I have no idea how to get out of this, but it occurs to me that it would be better if we all listened to music and had a beer. I'm going to visit a nuclear power plant rector soon. As a tourist. I know very well that I'll take the new BIOLENCE record with me on my trip and pray that I don't burn to ashes. It's a very good album in every way. You definitely shouldn't miss it. I'll be woken up by a siren. Another attack, another pain and suffering. Thousands of dead, mutilated bodies, darkness and evil, of which only a human is capable. It was only a matter of time before the nuclear power plant was destroyed. Burned by the flames of revenge, we stumble through the black darkness. Condemned to death. Nejdřív jsem se asi hodinu a půl díval na parádní koláž na obalu. Ten motiv je opravdu skvělý a krásně doplňuje šílenou muziku, kterou francouzští maniaci hrají. Jedná se o první dlouhohrající album kapely (ještě mají na svém kontě jedno EP, o kterém jsem také psal, recenze je odkazována dole pod dnešním článkem). Letošní novinka má, aspoň tak mi to přijde, lepší zvuk. Skladby jsou ostré, divoké, zahrané s nadsázkou a nadhledem.

Je slyšet, že se kapela hraním brutálního death metalu a grindcore dobře baví. Pokud to máte v uších nastavené podobně, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Mám rád černý humor a "trapné" vtipy, jsem tedy velmi spokojen. Co se týká hudby samotné, tak ta je také velmi dobře napsána. Má v sobě potřebný drive i sílu. Hele, chtěl bych tuhle smečku vidět naživo. Pořádně s ní zapařit a skočit do mosh-pitu. 


UPPER DECKER na to jdou po svém, nenudí mě ani chvilku. Já vím, já vím, podobných smeček běhá po světě velké množství, to je jasná věc, ale Francouzi v sobě mají něco navíc, něco, co mě pokaždé přesvědčí, že se k albu vrátím a narvu si jej s chutí pod tlakem do hlavy. Možná je to určitá lehkost, svěžest, takový ten heavy efekt, který mám u kapel tolik rád. Vlastně ani netuším. U minulého EP jsem se bavil a bavím se i letos. Jsme asi stejné krve. Jasně, to bude ono. Skladby se valí kupředu, jako stoka pod vaším městem. Jsou v nich obsaženy zajímavé momenty. Brutální death metal, kousky nahrubo nasekaného grindu. Chvílemi to vypadá na setkání v domě šílenství, ale nenechte se mýlit. Za vší tou legrací je dobře odvedená práce. Poctivé řemeslo, které samozřejmě také oceňuji. Navíc, s touhle smečkou byste určitě rádi zašli na pivo (víno, rum, koňak, vlastně asi na všechno). Mám rád lidi, co se neberou tolik vážně, ale když přijde na věc, tak umí pořádně zabrat. Jasně že to není nejlepší kapela na světě, která obrátí metalový řád a bude hrát na příští olympiádě. I když, kdo ví? Hele, kámo, mám chuť bouchat při poslechu do stolu, podupávám si nohou do rytmu. Pro někoho je to málo, pro mě moc, já jsem spokojený a to je to hlavní. Víte, už dávno poslouchám hudbu hlavně srdcem a tady cítím, vnímám pořádnou dávku poctivosti, chuti hrát. Novinka je reálným, šíleným albem. Ostrým jako břitva, ale také umí pohladit. Co na tom, že vám potom zůstanou na těle hluboké rudé šrámy. Tohle je hudba pro všechny, kteří mají bohatou fantazii a rádi se smějí. Howgh, domluvil jsem. Jdu si novinku zase pustit. Pestrá brutální death metalová paleta s krvavou příchutí grindcore! Album, u kterého se budete bavit!

First, I spent about an hour and a half looking at the awesome collage on the cover. The motif is really great and beautifully complements the crazy music played by these French maniacs. This is the band's first full-length album (they also have one EP to their credit, which I also wrote about; the review is linked below today's article). This year's new release has, at least in my opinion, better sound. The songs are sharp, wild, played with exaggeration and perspective.

You can hear that the band is having a lot of fun playing brutal death metal and grindcore. If you have a similar taste in music, don't hesitate for a moment. I like black humor and "awkward" jokes, so I'm very satisfied. As for the music itself, it's also very well written. It has the necessary drive and power. Hey, I'd like to see this pack live. Really party with them and jump into the mosh pit. 


UPPER DECKER do things their own way, and they never bore me for a moment. I know, I know, there are lots of similar bands out there, that's obvious, but the French have something extra, something that always convinces me to return to the album and cram it into my head with gusto. Maybe it's a certain lightness, freshness, that heavy effect that I like so much in bands. Actually, I have no idea. I enjoyed the last EP and I'm enjoying this one too. We're probably cut from the same cloth. Yeah, that must be it. The songs roll forward like a sewer under your city. They contain interesting moments. Brutal death metal, bits of roughly chopped grind. At times it looks like a meeting in a house of madness, but don't be fooled. Behind all the fun is a job well done. Honest craftsmanship, which I also appreciate, of course. Plus, you'd definitely want to go for a beer (wine, rum, cognac, pretty much anything, really) with this bunch. I like people who don't take themselves too seriously, but when it comes down to it, they know how to get down to business. Sure, they're not the best band in the world that will turn the metal world upside down and play at the next Olympics. Although, who knows? Hey, man, I feel like banging on the table while listening, tapping my foot to the rhythm. For some, it's not enough, for me it's too much, but I'm happy and that's what matters. You know, I've been listening to music mainly with my heart for a long time, and here I feel, I perceive a good dose of honesty, a desire to play. The new album is a real, crazy album. Sharp as a razor, but it can also caress you. So what if you're left with deep red scars on your body. This is music for everyone who has a rich imagination and likes to laugh. Howgh, I'm done talking. I'm going to listen to the new album again. A colorful brutal death metal palette with a bloody taste of grindcore! An album you'll enjoy!

Abych pravdu řekl, tak stále neumím být moc sám. Víkendy, kdy mi odjede manželka a děti pryč, nemívám moc rád. Já vím, člověk by měl mít čas taky sám na sebe, jenže já vypadnu z takového toho klasického rytmu a je mi to divné. Přišel jsem v pátek domů, cestou se stavil v jednom boxu poblíž domu. U Dobrovského byly zase slevy a tak jsem si říkal, že zkusím zase nějakého dalšího autora. Od Alexandra Gordoma Smitha jsem nečetl zatím vůbec nic. Byla to sázka do loterie. A vyšla na výbornou. Mám poslední měsíce fakt štěstí. Venku hrály děti fotbal a děsně u toho řvaly. Některým hláškám jsem se musel smát. Pustil jsem si dobrý death metal, usadil se pohodlně v křesle, chvilku si prohlížel obal, abych se nakonec zase nechal strhnout velmi napínavým příběhem. Starodávný krvavý rituál, který někdo oživil. Hnus a špína, temnota lidské mysli. Tohle se mi bude líbit, říkám si pod vousy, o tomhle budu muset napsat do knižních tipů.

Pomalu se setmělo a já zase jednou zjišťuji, že jsem si koupil šestý díl série. Nijak to nevadí, jen je tu hlavní hrdina Kett v nemocnici a sleduje celý případ z postele, sem tam dodá nějakou tu radu. Jinak ale vyšetřují Savaegová a Porter. Nijak mi to nevadí, i když v některých momentech děj navazuje, odkazuje se na minulé případy. Není to ale nijak na závadu, děj pochopíte. Je to celé hrůzné, drsné, brutální a čtu si tak dlouho, že se mi klíží oči. Tentokrát, protože je pátek, jsem si dal i pár piv. Nějak se mi všechno promítne do snů a jsou to hodně divné noční můry. Ráno vstanu, udělám si čaj a napíšu dvě recenze. Dnes mám lenivou. Lednička je sice prázdná, ale nevadí, nějak si poradím. Stejně, pokaždé, když si čtu a jsem tu sám, tak se zapomínám najíst. Do pokoje začalo svítit slunce, je tu teplo, brýle mi kloužou po nose. Odcházím se jenom napít, ukrojit chleba, ale stejně knihu nedočtu. Pořád mi někdo volá, vyrušuje mě a tak telefon vypnu. Chci mít klid, absolutní, musím se soustředit. Někdy kolem poledne mi začne kručet v břiše. Slupnu kus skývy, abych ošálil žaludek.

Někdy kolem druhé se jdu projít. V lese, i když je krásně, nikdo není. Jdu až kousek pod Krkavec, pod rozhlednu, kterou považuji za svoji domácí. Líbí se mi borové lesy kolem. Dojdu na jeden palouk, chvilku si sednu na lavičku a najednou jsem někde na severu Británie. Představuji si, že vedle na velkém kameni se klidně také mohlo kdysi obětovat. Naše historie je doslova prodchnutá násilím a krví, pořád to někteří z nás mají v sobě, na tohle fakt věřím a Kluci bez srdce se klidně mohli stát. Někde jsem dokonce četl, že se podobné případy doopravdy odehrály. Možná se jimi dokonce autor inspiroval. On ten chlápek, co jsem ho potkal uprostřed lesní pěšiny, tak divně koukal, že byl v mých představách podezřelým. No řekněte, kdo kromě mě chodí sám do lesa? Byl hodně zvláštní. No, nechme ho jeho představám a pojďme se ještě chvilku projít, řeknu si a pak už nikoho nevidím. Jsem tu sám. Jen já, příběh a tichý les. Půjdu domů, už jsem si vyčistil hlavu, chci si zase číst.

Děti dnes fotbal nehrají. Zato nějaký schizofrenik, co bydlí nedaleko, asi zapomněl na prášky. Chodí mezi domy, hrozně sprostě a nahlas řve. Kope do popelnic, matky s dětmi se před ním ukrývají. Lidem do hlavy nevidíte, je to strašidelné, i když je bílý den. Občas jej slýchávám i v noci. Dokonce jsem slyšel, že bydlí u staré matky, která na něj asi už nestačí. No nic, konečně utichl a můžu se v klidu soustředit. Knihu dočtu, konec mi přijde trošku složitější, ale jinak jsem velmi spokojený. Takhle nějak to mám asi nejraději. Napínavé, čtivé, se zajímavou zápletkou. Temnota a chlad na mě doslova dýchaly, vyšetřovatelé mi byli sympatičtí a bylo i trošku toho humoru. Kettovy holky, to je kapitola sama o sobě. Smál jsem se, bavily mě. I když asi nebudou sedět každému. Zkrátka a dobře, kniha mě zaujala, autor také a tak mám zase dalšího oblíbence a spoustu dalších tipů. 

V neděli, i když je ráno docela zima, jdu plavat ven. Zase jsem v lese a přemýšlím o tom, jak je lidská mysl komplikovaná. Někteří z nás jsou pochroumaní a dělají děsivé věci. Celá kniha byla zahalená v takové zvláštní mlze, byla tajemná, to mám moc rád. A tak vám zase dávám svým neumělým a pokorným způsobem na vědomí, že Alexander Gordon Smith píše fakt parádně, že si určitě jeho dílo pořádně prostuduji. Záleží jen na tom, jestli budou zase někde slevy, protože v mé kadenci čtení knížek vždy rád ušetřím nějakou tu korunu. Asi jako každý. Rodina se mi vrátí, zeptá se mě, co jsem dělal, i když moc dobře vědí, že jsem nikde nekalil, nechodil po hospodách. Nějak už není moc s kým. A na rovinu, v mém křesle je tak pohodlně, tak příjemně. Už teď se těším na další knížku. Jsem moc zvědavý, pro kterou sáhnu tentokrát. Mějte se krásně a děkuji moc za pozornost.

Uprostřed jedné z nejbrutálnějších norfolkských zim je na legendárním Kameni z Lyngu nalezeno zmrzlé tělo. A jelikož je Robert Kett zraněný a mimo službu, případ připadne detektivům Savageové a Porterovi, kterým začne být brzy jasné, že mladík nebyl jen zabit. Byl obětován. A není sám. V rámci jediného týdne je na jednom z prastarých norfolkských kamenů nalezeno stejně zmrzačené tělo dalšího mrtvého muže. Někdo provádí rituál, a pokud ho Savageová a Porter nedokážou včas zastavit, zemře spousta dalších lidí.

Šestý díl série o šéfinspektorovi Kettovi představuje Savageovou a Portera tak, jak jste je ještě neviděli, a to při vyšetřování jednoho z nejbrutálnějších případů, kterým kdy čelili – případu tak strašného, že mu neunikne ani Kett.

Recenze/review - IMPERIALIST - Prime (2025)

Nebude to dlouho trvat a probudíme se do šíleného, ohlušujícího ticha. Shoříme na popel. Nezasáhne nás meteorit, ani jiná planeta, zničíme se sami. Zlo se totiž ukrývá v každém z nás a neumíme s ním pracovat. Podobné myšlenky mě napadají pokaždé, když poslouchám jakoukoliv nahrávku od kalifornských black metalistů IMPERIALIST. Pozorní čtenáři našich stránek moc dobře vědí, že se mi líbil i jejich předchozí počin "Quantum" (odkaz na recenzi najdete dole pod článkem). Novinka volně navazuje na věci minulé.

Opět se jedná o sci-fi vize, plné děsivých obrazů, ale také o hudbu, která hoří uvnitř. Na povrchu je chladná jako výlet do jiných galaxií, ale tepe jako divoké srdce. Neotřelé postupy, zajímavé melodie, originální přístup, to jsou věci, které tuhle smečku odlišují od ostatních a činí ji zajímavou a velmi dobře poslouchatelnou. 


Oproti minule lehce přibylo thrashových výjezdů, ale jinak se jedná o pravověrný černý kov, ukovaný z těch nejkvalitnějších slitin. Do nečisté hry vás uvede již zajímavý motiv na obalu (Eliran Kantor) či velmi povedený a řezající zvuk, o který se postaral mistr ve svém oboru - Dan Swanö. Pamatujete si staré sci-fi autory z osmdesátých let minulého století? Jejich děsivé vize, které se v mnohém naplňují? Takový ten zvláštní neklid, podivný pocit, který jste po jejich přečtení měli? Tak úplně stejně vnímám i nové album "Prime". Tahle nahrávka má v sobě cosi zvláštního, zajímavého, nebál bych se napsat i melancholického, co mě neustále nutí k dalším poslechům. Mám doma celou diskografii kapely a pokaždé, když dostanu chuť na black metal, tak sahám po jejich deskách. Kapela je sice ovlivněna dílem třeba takových MARDUK, EMPEROR, DISSECTION, ABIGOR, IMMORTAL, ale zároveň přidává velkou porci svých nápadů a invence. Navíc, a na to se v dnešní chaotické a zvláštní době často zapomíná, album se velmi dobře vstřebává. Při každém dalším setkání objevuji něco nového, baví mě se vracet, rvát si skladby pod tlakem do hlavy. Brzy ráno, cestou do práce, když si čtu, když jedu autem, zkrátka pokaždé, když mám touhu nechat si rozdrásat vnitřnosti do krve. Stále hledím s napětím k nebi a počítám hvězdy. Užívám si těkavé a neklidné nálady celé nahrávky, nechávám se unášet do jiných dimenzí, přidávám postupně hlasitost, až na samou hranu snesitelnosti. V tomhle stylu si opravdu hodně vybírám a IMPERIALIST považuji za posly z jiných galaxií. Nebude to dlouho trvat a probudíme se do šíleného, ohlušujícího ticha. Shoříme na popel. Nezasáhne nás meteorit, ani jiná planeta, zničíme se sami. Zlo se totiž ukrývá v každém z nás a neumíme s ním pracovat. Chladná a temná black metalová vesmírná odysea! Album, u kterého vám ztuhne krev v žilách a budete rozerváni zevnitř!

It won't be long before we wake up to a crazy, deafening silence. We will burn to ashes. We won't be hit by a meteorite or another planet; we will destroy ourselves. Evil lurks within each of us, and we don't know how to deal with it. Similar thoughts come to mind every time I listen to any recording by Californian black metal band IMPERIALIST. Attentive readers of our website know very well that I also liked their previous work, "Quantum" (you can find a link to the review below the article). The new album loosely follows on from previous works.

Once again, it is a sci-fi vision, full of terrifying images, but also music that burns inside. On the surface, it is as cold as a trip to other galaxies, but it beats like a wild heart. Unconventional approaches, interesting melodies, and an original approach are the things that set this band apart from others and make it interesting and very listenable. 


Compared to last time, there are slightly more thrash riffs, but otherwise it's orthodox black metal, forged from the highest quality alloys. The interesting cover art (Eliran Kantor) and the very well-done, cutting sound, courtesy of a master of his craft, Dan Swanö, will draw you into this dirty game. Do you remember the old sci-fi authors from the 1980s? Their terrifying visions, which are coming true in many ways? That strange uneasiness, that weird feeling you had after reading them? That's exactly how I feel about the new album "Prime". There is something special, interesting, and I would even dare to say melancholic about this recording that keeps me coming back for more. I have the band's entire discography at home, and whenever I feel like listening to black metal, I reach for their albums. The band is influenced by the work of bands such as MARDUK, EMPEROR, DISSECTION, ABIGOR, and IMMORTAL, but at the same time, they add a large dose of their own ideas and inventiveness. In addition, and this is often forgotten in today's chaotic and strange times, the album is very easy to absorb. With each subsequent listen, I discover something new, and I enjoy coming back to it, letting the songs pound into my head. Early in the morning, on my way to work, when I'm reading, when I'm driving, basically whenever I feel the urge to have my insides torn to shreds. I still gaze at the sky with excitement and count the stars. I enjoy the volatile and restless mood of the entire recording, letting myself be carried away to other dimensions, gradually turning up the volume to the very edge of tolerability. I'm really picky in this style, and I consider IMPERIALIST to be messengers from other galaxies. It won't be long before we wake up to a crazy, deafening silence. We will burn to ashes. We will not be hit by a meteorite or another planet; we will destroy ourselves. Evil lurks within each of us, and we do not know how to deal with it. A cold and dark black metal space odyssey! An album that will freeze the blood in your veins and tear you apart from within!

Historie se opakuje s krutou pravidelností. Už zase stojíš u hromady mrtvol, hnijících v hluboké jámě. Válka je svinstvo a dávno už nevíš, za koho vlastně bojuješ. Bolest a utrpení, tisíce zničených životů, smrt a nenávist až za hrob. Lidé se příliš nemění, stále v sobě máme velké množství zla, závisti a umíme ubližovat. Jen na to vlastníme lepší technologie. Německé NEW WORLD DEPRESSION sleduji od jejich počátků. Vždycky se mi na nich líbilo, že jejich nahrávky mají jasný a zřetelný výraz, zajímavá témata a hlavně v sobě obsahují hudbu, která koluje i v mých žilách.

Ano, je to starý death metal, prašivý a chladný jako ty nejtemnější lidské myšlenky. Ostrý a nekompromisní, valící se kupředu jako buldozer, který nezná slitování. Zároveň v sobě obsahuje velké množství zajímavých momentů a melodií. I letos pánové odvedli perfektní morbidní práci. 


Novinka "Abysmal Void" je volným pokračováním věcí minulých. Kapela postupně vybrousila svůj styl k dokonalosti. Připomíná mi velmi dobře seřízený stroj na zabíjení, který když potkáte, tak zemřete krutou a hnusnou smrtí. Kývám se spokojeně do rytmu, procházím se ve své fantazii na různých bojištích světa. Skladby jsou velmi dobře napsány, mají v sobě potřebný drive, sílu, takový ten heavy efekt, který dobré smečky umí. Němci si ale zachovávají i určitou živočišnost, touhu ničit hudbou. Novinka mě opravdu baví a na dlouhý čas se stala i mým soukromým průvodcem v současném divném světě. Stále můžeme kapelu zařadit po bok třeba takových OBITUARY, ASPHYX, BOLT THROWER, kterými se volně inspirovali a přidali navíc velkou spoustu svých nápadů a invence. Pokud máte rádi valivou, zničující odrůdu smrtícího kovu, potom jste zde správně. Osobně se mi potom na kapele nejvíc líbí to, že jim mohu jejich hudbu věřit, že jsou opravdoví, reální, autentičtí. Povedl se i zvuk, který je masivní a zároveň velmi dobře čitelný. Podepsán je pod ním Jörg Uken a Soundlodge Studio. Žádných námitek nemám ani proti obalu, jehož motiv krásně doplňuje předkládanou muziku. Určitě znáte takový ten neodbytný pocit, když si pustíte nějaké album a od začátku víte, že je to přesně ono, že se na něm řeže tou správnou stranou nože. NEW WORLD DEPRESSION nahráli desku, ke které se budu ještě hodně dlouho vracet. History repeats itself with cruel regularity. Once again you are standing by a pile of corpses rotting in a deep pit. War is crap and you no longer know who you are actually fighting for. Pain and suffering, thousands of destroyed lives, death and hatred beyond the grave. People don't change much, we still have a lot of evil, envy and we know how to hurt. We just have better technology for that. I have been following the German NEW WORLD DEPRESSION since their beginnings. I have always liked that their recordings have a clear and distinct expression, interesting themes and, most importantly, they contain music that circulates in my veins.

Yes, it is old death metal, dusty and cold like the darkest human thoughts. Sharp and uncompromising, rolling forward like a bulldozer that knows no mercy. At the same time, it contains a large number of interesting moments and melodies. This year too, the gentlemen have done a perfect morbid job.


The new album "Abysmal Void" is a loose continuation of the past. The band has gradually honed its style to perfection. It reminds me of a very well-tuned killing machine, which if you meet it, you will die a cruel and disgusting death. I sway contentedly to the rhythm, walking in my imagination on various battlefields of the world. The songs are very well written, they have the necessary drive, power, that heavy effect that good packs can do. However, the Germans also retain a certain animality, a desire to destroy with music. I really enjoy the new album and for a long time it became my private guide in the current strange world. We can still rank the band alongside, for example, OBITUARY, ASPHYX, BOLT THROWER, which they freely inspired and added a lot of their own ideas and inventions. If you like a rolling, devastating variety of death metal, then you are in the right place. Personally, what I like most about the band is that I can trust their music, that they are genuine, real, authentic. The sound is also successful, which is massive and at the same time very legible. It is signed by Jörg Uken and Soundlodge Studio. I have no objections to the cover, whose motif beautifully complements the presented music. You certainly know that insistent feeling when you put on an album and from the beginning you know that it is exactly that, that it cuts with the right side of the knife. NEW WORLD DEPRESSION have recorded an album that I will be returning to for a long time to come. I will gladly sign that with my own blood. History repeats itself with cruel regularity. Once again you are standing by a pile of corpses rotting in a deep pit. War is crap and you no longer know who you are actually fighting for. Pain and suffering, thousands of destroyed lives, death and hatred beyond the grave. People don't change much, we still have a lot of evil, envy and we can hurt. I'd rather go lock myself in my room and turn on the play again! An old, rusty death metal bulldozer that will crush you to dust! An album as cold and dark as the human mind!

U nás před domem umírá jeden stoletý strom. Trvá tu už spoustu let. Jakoby v sobě nesl veškerou tíhu světa. Probudil jsem se zase jednou uprostřed noci a nemohl spát. Jako nějaký vlkodlak jsem si sedl do pokoje a díval se z okna. Měsíc ozařoval korunu stromu a já měl pocit, že dochází k něčemu záhadnému, tajemnému. Na tenhle, pro mě osobní a niterný zážitek, jsem si vzpomněl i ve chvíli, když jsem začal poslouchat druhé dlouhohrající album doom death metalových PILGRIMAGE. 

Kapelu jsem až dosud neznal a tak jsem se jí v duchu omluvil. Vypadá to, že mluví stejným jazykem jako já, že nám v žilách koluje podobná krev. Mám rád, když na mě hudba působí podobným způsobem, když je tajemná, záhadná, návyková, když mám chuť se k ní vracet. Díval jsem se na umírající strom, na temné nebe a poslouchal jsem u toho "From Amber to Sun". Byl to pro mě opravdu silný zážitek. 


Sešli se tu muzikanti z Nizozemí a Malty, kteří nejen, že perfektně rozumí svému řemeslu, ale ještě se jim povedlo do skladeb promítnout velkou spoustu bolesti, strachu, beznaděje, smutku. Přesně takhle to má vypadat, říkám si u reproduktorů a i když mám na svém stole velkou spoustu dalších nahrávek, stále dokola se vracím k PILGRIMAGE. Tahle nahrávka má v sobě něco magického, drásá mě zevnitř, pálí a žhne a zároveň je chladná jako mlhavé ráno na hřbitově. Zlé, surové a mocné pasáže se zde střídají s melancholií a mrazem. Skladby jsou velmi dobře napsány, mají skvělý zvuk, jsou uvěřitelné, opravdové, autentické. Pro mě jsou tohle, a stále to opakuji, velmi důležité věci, které od dobrých desek vyžaduji. Za prostudování stojí rozhodně i texty a za velmi povedený považuji i obal. Na nahrávání alba se podíleli i dva skvělí hosté - Heike Langhans a její démonický vokál (DRACONIAN, REMINA) a krásná Elianne Anemaat, která přidala několik úžasných pasáží na cello. Zkrátka a dobře, nebudu vám tu vypisovat kapely, kterými se tihle tmáři nechali volně inspirovat. Určitě vás nějaké napadnou samy. O tohle zde ale vůbec nejde. Novinka je jako pohřební mše se vším, co k tomu patří. Osobně se nechám vždy a rád znovu pozvat, abych se spolu s kapelou vydal na dlouhý výlet bez konce. Prosévám mezi prsty prach, sedím na lavičce, hned vedle tvého hrobu. Vzpomínám na všechno, co jsme spolu prožili. Rozmlouvám s mrtvými. Přesně pro tyhle chvíle je tohle album určeno. Za mě osobně jej mohu doporučit všem, kteří si všímají umírajících stromů a dívají na mraky v černé obloze. Drásavý, smutný a bolestivý doom death metal s krvavou aurou, který vás převede do země nekonečných stínů! Krása umírajících dní!

A hundred-year-old tree is dying in front of our house. It has been here for many years. It seems to have carried the whole weight of the world. I woke up again in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep. Like a werewolf, I sat in my room and looked out the window. The moon was shining on the treetop and I had the feeling that something mysterious, mysterious was happening. I remembered this, personal and visceral experience for me, when I started listening to the second full-length album of doom death metal band PILGRIMAGE.

I didn't know the band until now, so I apologized to them in my mind. It seems that they speak the same language as me, that similar blood flows in our veins. I like it when music affects me in a similar way, when it is mysterious, enigmatic, addictive, when I feel like returning to it. I was looking at the dying tree, at the dark sky, and listening to "From Amber to Sun". It was a really powerful experience for me.


Musicians from the Netherlands and Malta have gathered here, who not only understand their craft perfectly, but also managed to project a lot of pain, fear, hopelessness, sadness into their songs. This is exactly how it should sound, I tell myself at the speakers and even though I have a lot of other records on my desk, I keep coming back to PILGRIMAGE. This record has something magical in it, it tears me apart from the inside, it burns and glows and at the same time it is cold like a foggy morning in a cemetery. Evil, raw and powerful passages alternate with melancholy and frost. The songs are very well written, have a great sound, they are believable, real, authentic. For me, these are, and I keep repeating, very important things that I demand from good records. The lyrics are definitely worth studying and I also consider the cover to be very good. Two great guests also participated in the recording of the album - Heike Langhans and her demonic vocals (DRACONIAN, REMINA) and the beautiful Elianne Anemaat, who added several amazing cello passages. In short, I won't list the bands that these dark ones were freely inspired by. You will surely think of some yourself. But that's not what this is about at all. The new album is like a funeral mass with everything that goes with it. Personally, I always and gladly let myself be invited again to go on a long trip with the band without end. I sift the dust between my fingers, I sit on a bench, right next to your grave. I remember everything we've experienced together. I talk to the dead. This album is designed for exactly these moments. Personally, I can recommend it to everyone who notices dying trees and looks at clouds in the black sky. Harrowing, sad and painful doom death metal with a bloody aura that will transport you to the land of endless shadows! The beauty of dying days!

Možná jste si již mysleli, že jste potkali veškeré formy zla, kterých je člověk schopen. Pohlceni nihilismem se touláte zkaženým světem. Bez naděje, bez rozhřešení. Nikdy nenajdete klid, vaše duše bude trpět ještě dlouho po vaší nebohé smrti. Jsou kapely, u kterých na mě padne splín, u kterých se mi zastaví srdce a pomalu přecházím na druhou stranu, do nekonečné země stínů. 

CULT BURIAL patří mezi vyvolené. Pánové letos přicházejí se svým třetím dlouhohrajícím albem, které je po okraj narvané tmou, absolutní nicotou. Je zlé ze své podstaty, podmanivé, návykové, uhrančivé. Má v sobě pradávnou sílu děsivých snů, takový ten syrový, drásavý účinek. Dostane se vám do žil, pod kůži i do podvědomí. A zůstane tam  jako kousky ledu. Novinka je opět velmi povedeným dílem ve všech ohledech. 


Na téhle smečce oceňuji, že má svůj vlastní rukopis. Jejich hudbu poznáte během několika okamžiků. Pánové mají velký talent mě zahalit do krvavé mlhy. Jsou originální, mají neotřelý přístup. Navíc se jim pokaždé povede do skladeb vložit takový zvláštní neklid, temnou energii načerpanou buď v tom nejhlubším podzemí nebo v nekonečném vesmíru. Baví mě společná setkání, která v mnohém připomínají spíše obřady, pradávné rituály, než jen obyčejný poslech. Jakoby bylo všechno kolem mě najednou zahalené do krvavé mlhy. Songy se kolem mě nejdřív plazí jako jedovatí hadi, postupně mě uhranou, abych byl nakonec uštknut a navěky proklet. Vyzdvihnout musím i velmi dobře čitelný, masivní a řezající zvuk. Zajímavý je i motiv na obalu. Je to ale hlavně hudba samotná, která mě nutí k opakovaným setkáním. Venku se setmělo a mraky jsou zase jednou hodně nízko. Skoro se dotýkají země. V ulicích ožívají přízraky a mě to nutí vylézt ven, se sluchátky na uších. Záměrně vyhledávám opuštěná místa, stará pohřebiště, katakomby. Pánové nadále rozvíjejí svoje myšlenky a za mě osobně lze "Collapse of Pattern, Reverence of Dust" považovat za jejich asi nejlepší počin. Nové album v sobě má vše. Kousky black metalového chladu, doom metalovou melancholii i surovost death metalových postupů. Tohle všechno tvoří dohromady koktejl, který když vypijete, tak zemřete krutou smrtí. CULT BURIAL na to jdou po svém, nebojí se lehce experimentovat. Hrají si s pochmurnými náladami jako šelma se svojí kořistí. Vlastně by se dalo napsat, že je zcela zbytečné cokoliv dodávat, slova stejně nedokáží vyjádřit výsledný zážitek. Tahle nahrávka je na povrchu mrazivá, ale hoří zevnitř. Je jako čerstvá láva, která právě vyvěrá z činné sopky. Budete zničeni, spáleni na popel, přesto vám bude zima. Všechno bude zničeno, všichni zemřeme krutou smrtí. Tenhle svět je odsouzen k zániku a můžeme si za to sami. Zlo se ukrývá v každém z nás! Black death doom metalové apokalyptické vize, absolutní tma a nihilismus!

Perhaps you thought you had already encountered every form of evil that humans are capable of. Consumed by nihilism, you wander through a corrupt world. Without hope, without absolution. You will never find peace; your soul will suffer long after your miserable death. There are bands that make me feel melancholic, that make my heart stop and slowly take me to the other side, to the endless land of shadows. 

CULT BURIAL is one of the chosen ones. This year, the gentlemen are coming out with their third full-length album, which is filled to the brim with darkness, absolute nothingness. It is evil in its essence, captivating, addictive, mesmerizing. It has the ancient power of terrifying dreams, that raw, harrowing effect. It gets into your veins, under your skin, and into your subconscious. And it stays there like pieces of ice. The new album is once again a very successful work in every respect. 


What I appreciate about this band is that they have their own style. You can recognize their music within seconds. These guys have a great talent for enveloping me in a bloody fog. They are original and have a fresh approach. What's more, they always manage to infuse their songs with a strange restlessness, a dark energy drawn either from the deepest underground or the infinite universe. I enjoy our meetings, which in many ways resemble ceremonies, ancient rituals, rather than just ordinary listening sessions. It's as if everything around me is suddenly shrouded in a bloody fog. The songs first slither around me like poisonous snakes, gradually bewitching me, so that I am finally bitten and cursed forever. I must also highlight the very clear, massive, and cutting sound. The cover art is also interesting. But it is mainly the music itself that compels me to return to it again and again. It has grown dark outside and the clouds are once again very low. They almost touch the ground. Ghosts come to life in the streets, compelling me to go outside with my headphones on. I deliberately seek out abandoned places, old burial grounds, catacombs. The gentlemen continue to develop their ideas, and for me personally, "Collapse of Pattern, Reverence of Dust" can be considered their best work yet. The new album has it all. Pieces of black metal coldness, doom metal melancholy, and the rawness of death metal techniques. All this together creates a cocktail that, if you drink it, will kill you a cruel death. CULT BURIAL does it their way, not afraid to experiment a little. They play with gloomy moods like a beast with its prey. In fact, it could be said that it is completely unnecessary to add anything else, as words cannot express the resulting experience anyway. This recording is cold on the surface, but burns from within. It is like fresh lava just erupting from an active volcano. You will be destroyed, burned to ashes, yet you will still feel cold. Everything will be destroyed, we will all die a cruel death. This world is doomed, and we have only ourselves to blame. Evil lurks within each of us! Black death doom metal apocalyptic visions, absolute darkness and nihilism!

Ave INFERNAL THORNS! Greetings to the Chilean underground. I hope everything is fine with you. It should be, you have the third great long-playing album of your career on your account this year. I have to admit that it literally nailed me to the wall. It is dark, energetic, cuts with a sharp edge of a knife. It is very audible that you have done a great job and also a lot of talent. How do you perceive the new album in relation to your first work? Where did you want to move and in what way do you think the records are different?

In relation to the first job, this is a much more mature, heavier and faster job. To begin with, the first work was practically a solo album and now it was a work of the whole band, where we also worked with Seba Puente on the recording, which gave us a lot and guided us to find the final sound we wanted to obtain.

“Christus Venari” contains all the attributes of good death and black metal. For me personally, it is an album that I really like to return to. How was it created? How do INFERNAL THORNS compose new material?

Mainly I think that the songs and I take them finished to rehearsals, rarely end up being as I did them because we work on it with the band, adding and removing things, changing speeds and rhythms until we reach the point where we all agree and we move on to the next song.


I found out that Seba Puente is signed for recording and mixing. I have to confirm that the sound is literally killing. It keeps making me turn up the volume on the hi-fi. Seba Puente created a sound for you that is cruel, raw and at the same time dark and animalistic. How was it working with him and why him? In which studio did you record and how did it all go?

Somehow and since it's already the third album, we needed to take a leap and make an impact. We were certain that with this new lineup and with the quality of the songs we had composed we could achieve it, so we needed someone who understood what we wanted and who reflected the sound we had in mind on the album, that's why we chose Seba Puente, since he is the one who has been at the head of several national and international projects with excellent results. Our album was recorded in his studio, Audiocustom Studio in Santiago de Chile, and took about 8 months the entire process, between recording, mixing and mastering.

An integral part and a kind of bonus for fans today is the CD. You released it on Personal Records and it has a corpse-like cover. Who is its author? How did you choose the motif and how does it relate to the music on the new album?

The author of the art is Elias Vergara, we also worked with him on the art of the second album "Inflicting Ravage to the Holy Cattle". The reason for this particular art is an idea that I had in mind for lyrics of some particular themes and that symbolize in some way the persecution of Christ and his subsequent punishment and submission, that is why the art shows Christ crucified, gagged and already in a state of putrefaction being devoured by snakes and worms. With Elías we worked on the concept until we reached the final result that left us very satisfied.


I have been wandering the underworld for over thirty years and I go to Chile to get music, actually, to be safe. I think we have a similar nature and taste when it comes to metal. I like your bands a lot and I follow your scene carefully. Maybe I envy you a little, we only have a few death metal bands here that are worth it. How do you explain that death metal is doing so well in your country? How do you perceive your scene, fans, labels?

Death metal in Chile is part of history, if we go back to the 80s, here we already had extreme bands, perhaps not exactly death metal, but with tints, some closer to grind, like Belial, and others more to thrash like pentagram, which were finally a reference for other bands... this being so, Chile has a habit of extreme bands, perhaps it must be because of the repression of the time, because of the distance from the world, I don't know, what I do know is that there is a stable scene, with labels that are serious and constant, such as Apocalyptic, who have released great glories!

Regarding the fans, they have always been present, death metal shows are always massive, but unfortunately in recent times they have become very massive, a situation that affects the attendance of the public, a lot of concerts, which affects that everyone attends.... However, fans are always there, buy material, enjoy and share with you.

You play death metal influenced by the old school. Today, the band can't avoid comparisons, but I'd be interested in how the idea of ​​founding INFERNAL THORNS actually came about, who was and is your role model, and where do you want to take your band? Are you attracted to big foreign festivals, are you willing to go on tour with a more famous band?

The band was born around 2003 but lasted only a couple of years, until 2006 approximately and the main idea at that time and until now, was to combine death metal and black metal, bands like Grave, Unleashed, Deicide combine them with Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir (old), Darkthrone (old) that somehow I think it was achieved. Then in 2016 I resumed the band to start what we have been until now, with the recording of 3 LPs and 1 EP. The idea now is to promote this last album as much as possible to be able to reach as many countries as possible, and I think that with Personal Records we are going to achieve it. For the same reason we are always willing to go abroad and better yet, participate in festivals and make a tour that raises the level and prestige of the band even more.


When I founded my website seven years ago, I had a vision that I would try to support bands that I don't think are that prominent. To let the world know about them. I think I'm doing quite well, at least according to the feedback. How do you approach promotion? Do you leave it to the label or do you send CDs yourself for various reviews? For example, I buy albums that I really enjoy. How are you doing? Are you also fans who like and often support their colleagues? Do you go to concerts? Do you party?

We have always done the promotion ourselves, contacting zines and blogs, sending our material so that they can make us reviews of our albums. But now that we're under the Personal Records label, we don't have to worry about that as they take care of everything and that's been a relief for us at that point. And of course I'm also a fan and I consume a lot of music from colleagues, mainly national, material that I buy at the same events and I also buy online from bands that I can't see live since they are from more distant cities, but I like to go to events and share with colleagues always.

On the one hand, a band starting out today has a lot of opportunities to make themselves known, but on the other hand, there are a huge number of bands and fans get lost in them. Many people just download mp3s from the internet and instead of a concert, they prefer to spit venomous saliva on Facebook. How do you, like INFERNAL THORNS, get influenced by modern technologies? What do you think about downloading music, Google metalheads, streaming music, etc.?

Social networks, streaming platforms and all that is part of the new world where we are inserted, we don't worry much, we have more attention on making music, playing, and that's it, if they download the shit, copy it or do whatever, I don't care... Since those who do that, they would never buy music, they don't go to shows, so they don't exist...

The true fans are those who go to the shows, buy music and find out about the bands' news through the different means that exist.


I like to ask musicians what death/black metal means to them. How would they define it, is it more of a philosophy and lifestyle for them or “just” relaxation. What does it mean to you? How do you perceive and experience it?

For us it is an expression, whether it is anger, artistic, violence, cruelty, can it be a philosophy? If, in certain cases, sometimes even a declaration of principles, on our part it has always been a way of expressing our appreciation of various dogmas and the frustrations of the interposed systems, not in political terms, but rather in cultural terms, thinking of the culpist social structure interposed by that nefarious organization that everyone knows....

Finally, a classic but important question. What are INFERNAL THORNS planning in the coming months? Where can we see you at a concert and when will you visit Europe? If you want to say something to fans, labels, promoters, here is the space…

For the next few months there is a lot of promotion of the last album, some events, and the recording of a second video clip, we already have one of our song "Christ Distressed". Next year we are scheduled to make a live recording, where we will record songs from all our albums to present it on youtube and perhaps edit it on CD with 4 bonus tracks that are songs that we have already recorded and saved. We intend to visit Europe in the not too distant future, hopefully next year, and if promoters join, even better and always open to conversation.
