A few questions - interview with death metal band from Bulgaria - BESTIA ATER.

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Dinko Dimov: Hi there, we are BESTIA ATER - a death metal band formed 2018 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Back then Kiril Kirilov and I joined our forces to create a band, playing our favorite music style - a combination of old school American Death Metal and Scandinavian Black Metal.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Dinko Dimov: Our new album is called ANNO.BESTIA.CHRISALLIS. It was recorded, mixed and mastered at MRDR Sound Studio, Sofia, Bulgaria by me and Ivo Ivanov.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Dinko Dimov: We released 1000 CD copies. The album is also available in digital format at Bandcamp and all other digital platforms.

Kiril: As Dinko is being modest as a creator of all the artwork for the album, I must say that we’ve managed to produce a really nice edition of the CD and to have some added value for fans and collectors.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Dinko Dimov: Kiril Kirilov wrote all the lyrics. They're all about relationship between humans and demonic entities, both beneficial and detrimental. Each song is named under a specific demon.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

Dinko Dimov: I did the album artwork. As a professional artist, it was real pleasure for me to create all these creatures. The logo is also created by me.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takes care about you?

Dinko Dimov: Our album is self produced and released.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Dinko Dimov: There are countless bands who we respect. For me personally, the masterminds behind these bands are most important. Fredrik Schalin, Alex Webster, Trey Azagthoth, Patrick Mameli... just to name a few.

Kiril: As a vocalist, I admire the work of Chuck Schuldiner, Glen Benton, Kam Lee.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Kiril: We have decided to go on our own so we didn’t sent records to any label. Probably for the new material in the future we will send records to a few labels to find out how they see our music.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Kiril: Due to the times we live in we have only one live performance so far. It was at Sea of Black festival in Burgas, Bulgaria in August 2020. We are looking forward to have the opportunity to make a proper live promotion of our album after there will be no restrictions for making concerts. Of course we will be very happy to have gigs at some festivals like Wacken or sort of.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Dinko Dimov: All we want is to create ferocious music, filled with passion and dark melodies.
