Veteráni thrash metalové války DARKNESS loni vydali EP "Over and Out" a bylo tak na čase se zase vydat na dlouhý výlet do minulosti. Do časů, kdy se po ulicích toulaly partičky v džínových bundách, pivo teklo proudem a z kazeťáku nám všem zněly pecky z desky "Death Squad". Ohmatané kazety, holky, co nikdy neměly dost. Bylo krásné tyhle časy zažít a je dodnes na co vzpomínat. Hudba DARKNESS byla a je i mojí součástí, kusem mého života.
Proto nedokážu přistupovat k jejich nahrávkám s odstupem. Jasně, že kapela už dlouhé roky nevymýšlí nic nového, jede stále podle svému mustru. Změny v sestavě byly samozřejmě zásadní, obzvláště vokál je jiný, ale já pořád cítím a slyším ducha těch starých dobrých DARKNESS, přesně, jak jsem je měl vždycky rád. Melodické, ostré jako břitva, naléhavé, neurvalé. Thrash metal, jak má být!
"Over and Out" je rozhodně zajímavým sběratelským kouskem pro všechny fanoušky kapely, na své si přijdou příznivci CD i vinylů, jen ty kazety jsem nikde nenašel. Co se týká hudby, tak ta neztratila sílu a feeling, skladby se opravdu dobře poslouchají, dokonce bych řekl, že mě baví o hodně víc, než poslední počiny některých jejich německých kolegů. Patina starých časů je zde cítit jako síra v pekle. Připomínají rozžhavené surové železo, které vám někdo hodí do obličeje a nalije do chřtánu. Mosh - pit zaručen. Navíc máte u DARKNESS jistotu, že nejsou žádnou dnes tolik častou kopií, ale naprostým originálem, s vysokým oktanovým číslem. Zážeh! Rychlost, zkušenosti, drive, cover od SKID ROW osvěží, záznam živého songu z Japonska také. Jsem starý trasher, který příliš nepodléhá různým trendům a módním výstřelkům. Mám rád, když se svět točí stále stejným směrem. A "Over and Out" se mi opravdu líbí. Má v sobě totiž všechny potřebné ingredience pro pořádnou pařbu. Nechápu, kde se pořád v těchto veteránech bere taková síla, ale nové EP vás smete z povrchu zemského. Je jako zásah bleskem. Tohle je podle mého thrash metal! Podepisuji vlastní krví!

Veterans of the thrash metal war DARKNESS released the EP "Over and Out" last year, so it was time to go on a long trip to the past. Until the days when guys in denim jackets were wandering the streets, beer was flowing and the "Death Squad" record sounded from the tape recorder. Felt tapes, girls who never had enough. It was beautiful to experience these times and there is still something to remember. DARKNESS music was and is a part of me, a piece of my life.
That's why I can't access their recordings objectively. Of course, the band hasn't been inventing anything new for many years, it's still following its pattern. The line-up changes were fundamental, of course, especially the vocals are different, but I still feel and hear the spirit of the good old DARKNESS, exactly as I've always liked them. Melodic, razor-sharp, urgent, restless. Thrash metal as it should be!
"Over and Out" is definitely an interesting collector's piece for all fans of the band, fans of CDs and vinyl will find something to their liking, I just didn't find the cassettes anywhere. As for the music, it has not lost its strength and feeling, the songs are really good listenable, I would even say that I enjoy it much more than the last works of some of their German colleagues. The patina of old times feels like sulphur in hell. They resemble hot iron that someone throws in your face and pours into your throat. Mosh - pit guaranteed. In addition, at DARKNESS you can be sure that they are not just one of copies today, but a complete original, with a high octane number. Ignition! Speed, experience, drive, cover from SKID ROW will refresh, recording a live song from Japan as well. I am an old thrasher who is not very subject to various trends and fashion fads. I like it when the world is always spinning in the same direction. And I really like "Over and Out". It has all the necessary ingredients for a proper party. I don't understand where such power still comes from these veterans, but the new EP will sweep you off the face of the earth. It's like a lightning strike. This is thrash metal! I sign it with my own blood!
