Vždycky mám radost, když potkám kapelu, která nejen, že perfektně zvládá své řemeslo, ale zároveň má talent. O amerických HORRENDOUS jsem u nás na stránkách psal již několikrát. A stále mě dokáží překvapit. Perfektně napsané skladby, které jsou pestré i ostré zároveň, velká spousta emocí, různých odboček a pasáží, které se mi doslova zaryjí do mozku. Úplně cítím, jak se mi hudba dostává pomalu do žil.

Je to celé o fantazii a schopnosti přenést emoce. U novinky "Ontological Mysterium" vám bude chvílemi smutno, jindy se zase na vaší tváři objeví úsměv. Tajemno a chlad se střídají s divokou energií. HORRENDOUS jsou i letos jako přírodní živel. Nadále na sobě pracují a zároveň si zachovávají takovou tu pověstnou jiskru, která se podle mého nedá naučit. Musíte ji mít v sobě.

Kapela je progresivní takovým tím příjemným způsobem. Na albu budete stále objevovat něco nového, další a další zákoutí. Budete si podupávat nohou a i když se budou zdát skladby zpočátku složité a nepřehledné, tak po nějakém čase dozrají jako dobré víno. Tahle smečka bývá často přirovnávána k DEATH, ATHEIST, CYNIC, VOIVOD a spoustě dalších, ale to není zase tolik důležité. Hlavní je, že zde cítím obrovský hráčský potenciál, skladatelské schopnosti a obrovské srdce. Album má krásně čitelný, masivní a syrový zvuk (Damian Herring). Už dlouho jsem neslyšel takhle dobře nazvučené jednotlivé nástroje. O obalu od Briana Smitha netřeba diskutovat. K hudbě se velmi dobře hodí a perfektně ji doplňuje. Ano, jak jsem již psal v úvodu, po řemeslné stránce je vše vynikající. Až budete novinku "Ontological Mysterium" poslouchat, nezapomeňte prosím na texty, mají v sobě spoustu myšlenek a rozhodně stojí za bližší prostudování. Já vím, zdaleka ještě není konec roku, ale už teď lze novou desku zařadit mezi to nejlepší, co bylo letos vydáno. Když totiž album poslouchám, dávno nejsem na tomto světě. Létám v jiných dimenzích, hlavou mi zběsile kmitají různé představy. Myslím si, že došlo ke vzájemnému přenosu mezi mnou a kapelou. Tenhle pocit je pro mě hrozně důležitý. Vznáším se, padám do hlubiny, shořel jsem na popel a znovu povstal, jako bájný Fénix. Chci být sám, ve studené kobce. Jen já a tahle nahrávka, která má v sobě vše potřebné. Radost, vztek, smutek i vznešenost. Jsem při poslechu velmi pokorný a klaním se až k zemi. Vynikající záležitost pro všechny s otevřenou myslí. Dokonale vybroušený progresivní death metalový drahokam!

I'm always happy when I meet a band that not only knows their craft perfectly, but also has talent. I have written about American HORRENDOUS on our website several times. And they still manage to surprise me. Perfectly written songs that are colorful and sharp at the same time, a great deal of emotions, various digressions and passages that literally get stuck in my brain. I can feel the music slowly getting into my veins.

It's all about imagination and the ability to convey emotions. The new "Ontological Mysterium" will make you feel sad at times, at other times it will put a smile on your face. Mystery and coldness alternate with wild energy. HORRENDOUS is like a natural element this year. They continue to work on themselves while retaining that proverbial sparkle that I don't think can be taught. You have to have it in you.

The band is progressive in a nice way. You will keep discovering something new on the album, more and more corners. You'll be tapping your foot and even if the songs seem complicated and confusing at first, after some time they will age like a fine wine. This pack is often compared to DEATH, ATHEIST, CYNIC, VOIVOD and many others, but that's not so important. The main thing is that I can feel a huge playing potential, songwriting skills and a huge heart here. The album has a beautifully clear, massive and raw sound (Damian Herring). I haven't heard individual instruments so well voiced in a long time. The cover artwork by Brian Smith needs no discussion. It fits the music very well and complements it perfectly. Yes, as I wrote in the introduction, craftsmanship-wise everything is excellent. When you listen to the new "Ontological Mysterium", please don't forget the lyrics, they have a lot of ideas and are definitely worth a closer look. I know, it's far from the end of the year, but already the new album can be ranked among the best released this year. After all, when I listen to the album, I am not in this world for a long time. I'm flying in other dimensions, my head is filled with different ideas. I think there was a mutual transmission between me and the band. This feeling is very important to me. I float, I fall into the depths, I burn to ashes and rise again, like the mythical phoenix. I want to be alone, in a cold dungeon. Just me and this record, which has everything I need in it. Joy, anger, sadness and nobility. I'm very humble and I bow down to the ground. Excellent stuff for anyone with an open mind. A perfectly polished progressive death metal gem!
