Z krvavé mlhy vystoupily děsivé přízraky. Postavy bez tváře, přesto s jedovatým smíchem v obličeji. Dlouhé pláště, kápě, jako prokletí kněží, kteří se přišli pomstít za všechna příkoří, které se jim za jejich hnusného života staly. Do kostí se mi dostal mráz, nemůžu dýchat, dusím se vlastní krví. Umírám a znovu se rodím v nekonečných bolestech. Existuje už jenom utrpení, hnus a špína. Brodím se po kolena v bažinách smutku a osamění a topím se ve stoce pod naším městem. Stále mě pronásledují, moji vlastní démoni. Některé nahrávky ve mě probudí pradávné běsy a dostanou se mi do podvědomí. O KADAVEREICH jsem již psal. Bylo to v roce 2021 a odkaz na recenzi najdete dole pod dnešním článkem.

Jakoby se od té doby kapela ponořila do ještě větší tmy a strhla mě do hlubiny, do nekonečných chodeb Hádovy říše. Základem je zde prastarý, surový a divoký death metal, kolem kterého se vznáší krvavá a chladná black metalová aura. Jedná se o první dlouhohrající album kapely, která má ve svém středu všem známého ukrajinského grafika, ilustrátora a baskytaristu Daemorpha. Jedná se o smečku složenou ze samých zkušených muzikantů, kteří se svojí hudbou pokoušejí definovat naprostou tmu a zlo. Nutno rovnou dodat, že se jim to daří na výbornou. 


Během poslechu mám neodbytný pocit, že někdo zlý stojí ve stínu, sleduje mě a pokaždé, když se otočím, tak ustoupí stranou, aby nebyl vidět. Přesto jej vnímám, ten neklid, zlo v jeho duši. Úplně stejně na mě působí i nové album "Perversa Mysteria". Ve skladbách je obsaženo něco magického, záhadného. Jednotlivé motivy jsou sice ohlodány až na kost, žhnou a chladí zároveň, ale také jsou zahaleny do pláště upleteného z pevných pavučin bolesti. Hudba se nejdřív kolem mě plazila jako klubko jedovatých hadů, postupně mě uhranula a pak se mi dostala do žil. Některé momenty jsou velmi jedovaté, hnisavé, záhadné a surové, jiné zase mrazivé, ostré. Každé společné setkání se tak pro mě stalo spíše obřadem, seancí, než jen obyčejným poslechem. Mám rád hudbu, která mě dokáže rozdrásat zevnitř, která má v sobě drive a pověstnou sílu, schopnost do mě zaseknout dráp a už mě nikdy nepustit. Při poslechu nové nahrávky KADAVEREICH jsem nikdy nebyl v současném podivném a zkaženém světě, ale toulal jsem se záhrobím, setkával se s nemrtvými i dušemi prokletých. Překročil jsem několikrát špinavou řeku Styx a zaplatil převozníkovi tímto albem, abych už se nemusel nikdy vracet. O obalu, zvuku a celkové produkci není třeba diskutovat, jedná se po všech stránkách o profesionálně odvedenou práci. Tahle nahrávka má v sobě ale hlavně něco navíc, něco, co mě pokaždé přikove k přehrávači a přenese mě na onen svět. Novinku bych doporučil všem, kteří mají rádi opravdovou, uvěřitelnou, nespoutanou, autentickou a záhadnou muziku, která vás přenese mezi děsivé stíny. Z krvavé mlhy vystoupily děsivé přízraky. Terrifying specters emerged from the bloody mist. Faceless figures, yet with venomous smiles on their faces. Long cloaks, hoods, like cursed priests who had come to take revenge for all the injustices that had befallen them during their miserable lives. A chill ran through my bones, I couldn't breathe, I was suffocating in my own blood. I was dying and being reborn in endless pain. All that existed was suffering, filth, and squalor. I waded knee-deep in the swamps of sadness and loneliness and drowned in the sewers beneath our city. My own demons still haunt me. Some recordings awaken ancient demons in me and enter my subconscious. I have already written about KADAVEREICH. It was in 2021, and you can find a link to the review below today's article.

It's as if the band has plunged into even greater darkness since then and dragged me into the depths, into the endless corridors of Hades' realm. The foundation here is ancient, raw, and wild death metal, around which hovers a bloody and cold black metal aura. This is the first full-length album by the band, which features the well-known Ukrainian graphic artist, illustrator, and bassist Daemorph. It is a pack of experienced musicians who attempt to define absolute darkness and evil with their music. It must be said right away that they succeed brilliantly. 


While listening, I have the persistent feeling that someone evil is standing in the shadows, watching me, and every time I turn around, they step aside so as not to be seen. Yet I can sense them, the restlessness, the evil in their soul. The new album "Perversa Mysteria" has the same effect on me. There is something magical and mysterious in the songs. The individual motifs are stripped down to the bone, burning and cooling at the same time, but they are also shrouded in a cloak woven from the solid cobwebs of pain. At first, the music crept around me like a ball of poisonous snakes, gradually bewitching me and then getting into my veins. Some moments are very poisonous, festering, mysterious, and raw, while others are chilling and sharp. Each encounter became more of a ritual, a séance, than just ordinary listening. I like music that can tear me apart from the inside, that has drive and legendary power, the ability to sink its claws into me and never let go. When listening to KADAVEREICH's new recording, I was never in the strange and corrupt world of today, but wandered through the afterlife, encountering the undead and the souls of the damned. I crossed the dirty river Styx several times and paid the ferryman with this album so that I would never have to return. There is no need to discuss the cover, sound, and overall production; it is a professionally done job in every respect. But this recording has something extra, something that keeps me glued to the player and transports me to the other world. I would recommend this new release to anyone who likes real, believable, unrestrained, authentic, and mysterious music that transports you into terrifying shadows. Sedím uprostřed staré plesnivé kobky a vzpomínám na svoje krvavé kořeny. Psal se rok 1987, když jsem se poprvé dostal k metalové muzice. Nejdříve jsem jen tak mladistvě koketoval a po několika měsících jsem jí naplno propadl. O té doby vyhledávám kapely, které mě baví, které hrají ostře, nekompromisně, plesnivě. Můj přístup je stále stejný. Zapnu play na svém přehrávači, chvilku čekám a vnímám hudbu celým svým tělem i podvědomím. Pokud dojde ke vzájemnému přenosu morbidních emocí, zařadím si další jméno do své sbírky. Když jsem poprvé slyšel nové album maniaků HATING LIFE, vrátil jsem se po časové ose zpět. Hluboko do podzemí, do nekonečných chodeb Hádovy říše. 

Kapela se, jak se samo nabízí, samozřejmě jmenuje podle slavné demonahrávky GRAVE, kterou mimochodem stále vlastním na kazetě. V téhle smečce působí Santiago Cavero, kterého můžete znát ze španělských ATARAXY a vokálu se zhostil Javier Manzano. Myslím, že nic dalšího asi nemusím dodávat. Možná snad jen, že tohle spojení je opravdu silné. Novinka se nám, starým psům, velmi dobře poslouchá. Vítejte v záhrobí mezi děsivými stíny!


Hraje se tu hrubozrnný, surový, prašivý death metal s takovým tím krvavým doomovým odérem. Pánové se volně inspirovali u kapel typu NIHILIST, ENTOMBED, GRAVE, DISMEMBER, ENTRAILS, ale třeba i ASPHYX, CIANIDE, AUTOPSY. Exhumovány jsou staré, prokleté hroby padlých kněží a činěno jest velmi zkušeně, propracovaně, přesto neurvale a živočišně. Skladby jsou ohlodány až do morku kostí, jsou napsány s grácií a elegancí starých mistrů v oboru. Nenechte se ale mýlit, nejedná se jen o skvěle odvedené řemeslo nebo pouze citovaný odkaz starých dobrých mrtvolných časů. Naopak, kapela se snaží do své hudby přinést i něco nového, svého, vlastní rukopis, krvavý otisk. Nutno rovnou dodat, že se jim to daří na výbornou. Oběma muzikantům se povedlo nahrát nejen album, které se velmi dobře poslouchá, ale má v sobě i temný a hnusný neklid opuštěných pohřebišť. V téhle márnici se bude cítit dobře každý, kdo začínal s extrémní muzikou v devadesátých letech minulého století, ale i ten, kdo jako já uznává u kapel hlavně opravdovost, ryzost, uvěřitelnost a autenticitu. Nenašel jsem vlastně nic, o čem by se dalo napsat cokoliv kritického. Naopak, album jsem si ihned zařadil do své soukromé sbírky a neustále se k němu vracím. Pokaždé, když mám plné zuby současného divného světa nebo jen tak, když si chci narvat do hlavy pod tlakem něco dobrého, mrtvolného. Z riffů zde odkapává zlo, lidská nenávist a barbarství. Víka od rakví nadskakují a lebky se smějí do ticha. Znovu zapínám play a setkávám se se svými vlastními démony. Myslím, že jsem tu správně. Mimochodem, ten zvuk zabíjí a obal snad ani stylovější být nemohl. Skvělá práce! Absolutní definice starého prašivého death metalu! Album, u kterého vám popraskají všechny kosti v těle!

I sit in the middle of an old moldy dungeon and remember my bloody roots. It was 1987 when I first got into metal music. At first, I just flirted with it in a youthful way, and after a few months, I fell completely in love with it. Since then, I've been looking for bands that I enjoy, that play sharply, uncompromisingly, moldily. My approach is still the same. I press play on my player, wait a moment, and perceive the music with my whole body and subconscious. If there is a mutual transfer of morbid emotions, I add another name to my collection. When I first heard the new album by the maniacs HATING LIFE, I went back in time. Deep underground, into the endless corridors of Hades' realm.

The band is, of course, named after the famous demo recording GRAVE, which, by the way, I still own on cassette. Santiago Cavero, whom you may know from the Spanish band ATARAXY, is part of this pack, and Javier Manzano is on vocals. I don't think I need to add anything else. Perhaps only that this combination is really strong. The new album is very enjoyable for us old dogs. Welcome to the afterlife among terrifying shadows!


They play coarse, raw, mangy death metal with a bloody doom vibe. The gentlemen were loosely inspired by bands such as NIHILIST, ENTOMBED, GRAVE, DISMEMBER, ENTRAILS, but also ASPHYX, CIANIDE, AUTOPSY. Old, cursed graves of fallen priests are exhumed, and it is done very skillfully, elaborately, yet brutally and animalistically. The songs are gnawed to the marrow, written with the grace and elegance of the old masters of the genre. But make no mistake, this is not just a job well done or a mere reference to the good old days of death. On the contrary, the band tries to bring something new to their music, their own signature, their own bloody imprint. It must be said right away that they succeed brilliantly. Both musicians have managed to record not only an album that is very pleasant to listen to, but also has the dark and nasty uneasiness of abandoned graveyards. Anyone who got into extreme music in the 1990s will feel right at home with this morgue, as will those who, like me, value authenticity, purity, credibility, and genuineness in bands. I couldn't find anything to criticize. On the contrary, I immediately added the album to my private collection and keep coming back to it. Every time I'm fed up with the strange world we live in today, or just when I want to fill my head with something good and deadly under pressure. The riffs drip with evil, human hatred, and barbarism. Coffin lids bounce and skulls laugh in the silence. I press play again and meet my own demons. I think I'm in the right place. By the way, the sound kills, and the cover couldn't be more stylish. Great job! The absolute definition of old, mangy death metal! An album that will crack every bone in your body!

Pamatuji si, že jsem kdysi dávno zabloudil v Parc Natural del Cadí-Moixeró. Byl jsem mladý a o starých katalánských legendách jsem nevěděl vůbec nic. Fascinovala mě ale síla a záhadnost přírody. Sledoval jsem zasněžené vrcholky hor a toulal se drsnou krajinou. Potom se během několika okamžiků změnilo počasí a měl jsem co dělat, abych se vrátil zpět na ubytování.

Na svůj zvláštní zážitek, při kterém přede mnou začaly ožívat pradávné příšery, krvelační draci i duchové hor, jsem si vzpomněl i letos, když jsem při jedné z návštěv záhrobí objevil katalánskou kapelu CULTUM MORTIS. Její tvorba je tamními legendami, příběhy, tajemnem, doslova prodchnuta. Pohodlně jsem se usadil, zapnul play a nejednou jsem neseděl ve svém pokoji, ale procházel jsem se ulicemi malého městečka v horách. Ze stínu se na mě dívaly přízraky a já si užíval prvotřídní a temný black death metal s krvavou duší. 


Jako starý, věrný pes, který poslouchá extrémní muziku skoro od jejích počátků, jsem si užíval jednotlivé chladné motivy, surový základ, ostré riffy, ale hlavně velmi podmanivou atmosféru. Už dávno nevnímám hudbu jenom sluchem, patřím k prokletým, kterým se každá pasáž zadře hluboko do srdce. Nejdůležitější pro mě je, aby byla kapela opravdová, ryzí, uvěřitelná a autentická. Tohle všechno splňují CULTUM MORTIS na sto procent a přidávají toho ještě spoustu navíc. Připadám si spíše jako na nějakém pradávném rituálu určeném pro vyvolávání temných sil, které rozhodně nejsou z tohoto světa. Užívám si jednotlivé pasáže, surový i dobře čitelný zvuk, líbí se mi motiv na obalu. Jsem vnitřně spokojený, že jsem si pro sebe tuhle smečku rouhavých mnichů objevil. "Memoràndum" je přesně tím druhem alba, které vás vezme na dlouhý výlet bez konce, které ve vás probudí spoustu roztodivných emocí a u kterého se vám znovu otevřou staré rány. Katalánci jsou jako našeptávači ze starých časů, jako dlouhé stíny, které můžete potkat na hřbitovech vysoko v horách. Je to již opravdu mnoho let, co jsem v tuto krásnou a temnou zemi navštívil, ale pokaždé, když o ní někde čtu, vidím nějaký dokument nebo poslouchám tuhle nahrávku, tak se mi vrátí do vnitřností takové zvláštní napětí, neklid. Jdu si znovu přečíst další ze skvělých knih mistra Manuela de Pedrola. Je vám asi jasné, co si k tomu pustím za muziku. Ano, chci se znovu ztratit v horách a nechat před sebou obživnout staré příběhy plné bolesti, strachu, naděje i smutku. Asi tušíte, že nemůžu jinak, než vám tuhle smečku doporučit. Získal jsem si k ní až osobní vztah. Temný, syrový black death metal, u kterého znovu ožívají pradávné katalánské legendy! Album, které vás rozdrásá zevnitř!

I remember getting lost in the Parc Natural del Cadí-Moixeró a long time ago. I was young and knew nothing about old Catalan legends. But I was fascinated by the power and mystery of nature. I watched the snow-capped mountain peaks and wandered through the rugged landscape. Then, in a matter of moments, the weather changed and I had my work cut out to get back to my accommodation.

I remembered this strange experience, in which ancient monsters, bloodthirsty dragons, and mountain spirits came to life before my eyes, again this year when I discovered the Catalan band CULTUM MORTIS during one of my visits to the underworld. Their work is literally imbued with local legends, stories, and mystery. I settled down comfortably, pressed play, and suddenly I was no longer sitting in my room, but walking through the streets of a small town in the mountains. Ghosts stared at me from the shadows, and I enjoyed first-class, dark black death metal with a bloody soul. 


As an old, loyal dog who has been listening to extreme music almost since its inception, I enjoyed the individual cold motifs, raw foundation, sharp riffs, but above all the very captivating atmosphere. I no longer perceive music only with my ears; I belong to the cursed ones for whom every passage is deeply engraved in my heart. The most important thing for me is that the band is genuine, pure, credible, and authentic. CULTUM MORTIS fulfills all of these requirements one hundred percent and adds a lot more. I feel more like I'm at some ancient ritual designed to summon dark forces that are definitely not of this world. I enjoy the individual passages, the raw and clear sound, and I like the cover art. I am inwardly satisfied that I have discovered this pack of blasphemous monks for myself. "Memoràndum" is exactly the kind of album that takes you on a long journey with no end, awakens a lot of strange emotions in you, and reopens old wounds. The Catalans are like whisperers from ancient times, like long shadows that you might encounter in cemeteries high up in the mountains. It has been many years since I visited this beautiful and dark country, but every time I read about it somewhere, see a documentary or listen to this recording, I feel a strange tension, a restlessness, return to my gut. I'm going to reread another of Manuel de Pedrol's great books. You can probably guess what music I'll be listening to. Yes, I want to lose myself in the mountains again and let old stories full of pain, fear, hope, and sadness come to life before me. You probably suspect that I can't help but recommend this pack to you. I've developed a personal relationship with it. Dark, raw black death metal that brings ancient Catalan legends back to life! An album that will tear you apart from the inside!

Ulice jsou plné lidí s prázdnými pohledy. Neví odkud přišli a kam jdou. Jsou ztraceni ve velkém zlém světě a chytají se každého stébla naděje. Jsi sám uprostřed davu. Snažíš se přežít, vyhýbat se zlým stínům, ale nakonec stejně skončíš zubožený na hřbitově, kde se modlíš k dávno padlým předkům. Muziku vnímám pokaždé velmi osobně, musí mě zasáhnout, stát se mojí součástí, dostat se mi do hlavy. Toulal jsem se ulicemi našeho šedivého města a poslouchal jsem debutové album portugalských doom death metalistů THROUGH VOID.

Novinka se mi ihned dostala do kostí, zmrazila mi je a najednou jsem se kýval spokojeně do rytmu a na tváři jsem měl pochmurný úsměv těch, kteří vědí. Smutek, melancholie, samota těla i duše. Zalezl jsem si ve svém pokoji do kouta, znovu pustil play a četl si knihy o starých časech, když k sobě lidé mívali blíž. Tuhle smečku jsem si pro sebe objevil víceméně náhodou a zaujala mě natolik, že jsem se rozhodl o ní napsat pár slov. Je totiž vynikající, zádumčivá, pochmurná, jako počasí, které je právě za oknem. 


Pánové ctí bezezbytku veškerá nepsaná pravidla stylu zvaného doom death metal. Čerpají ze starých archívů, ale přidávají i kus sebe samých, svých nápadů a invence. Novinka se kolem mě nejdřív převalovala jako špinavá řeka smrti. Stál jsem na břehu a sledoval, jak na hladině plavou děsivé vzpomínky. Možná jsem zahlédl i nějaká mrtvá těla, ale nejsem si s tím jistý, vše je zahalené do krvavé mlhy. Napadá mě spousta obrazů, moje mysl je rozdrásána, nahrávka na mě působí až uhrančivým dojmem. Svět je najednou zase jednou hodně zvrácený, zničený a nihilismus získává další rozměr. Líbí se mi zvuk, motiv na obalu, ale i jednotlivé motivy. Každým dalším poslechem si pro sebe objevuji další a další odstíny šedé a černé barvy. "Forsaken" je přesně tím druhem propracovaného a zároveň velmi živočišného díla, které bych doporučil všem přemýšlivým fanouškům. Všem, kteří se i v dnešním chaotickém a neosobním světě dokáží zastavit, zklidnit a naslouchat stínům. Jako bych vnímal všemi póry svého těla ozvěny z onoho světa. Kolem mě probíhají další války, další násilné činy, pochodují zástupy pozůstalých se slzami v očích. Stojím ve větru a moc dobře už vím, že lidi nikdy nezměníte. Jsme zvláštní druh, určený k sebezničení. Ještě, že jsou zde kapely jako THROUGH VOID, které mi dávají alespoň malou naději. Ta se ukrývá v samotě a ve smutku. Nové album v sobě obsahuje vše, co mám na hudbě rád. Drive, sílu, tlak, energii, chvění i vibrace. Poslouchejte pozorně! Ulice jsou plné lidí s prázdnými pohledy. Neví odkud přišli a kam jdou. Jsou ztraceni ve velkém zlém světě a chytají se každého stébla naděje. Jsem sám uprostřed davu. The streets are full of people with empty stares. They don't know where they came from or where they're going. They're lost in a big, bad world and clinging to every straw of hope. You are alone in the middle of the crowd. You try to survive, avoid the evil shadows, but in the end you end up miserable in a cemetery, praying to your long-dead ancestors. I always perceive music very personally; it has to affect me, become a part of me, get into my head. I wandered the streets of our gray city listening to the debut album of Portuguese doom death metal band THROUGH VOID.

The new release immediately got under my skin, froze me to the bone, and suddenly I was swaying contentedly to the rhythm with the gloomy smile of those who know. Sadness, melancholy, loneliness of body and soul. I curled up in a corner of my room, pressed play again, and read books about the old days when people used to be closer to each other. I discovered this pack more or less by accident, and it intrigued me so much that I decided to write a few words about it. It is excellent, brooding, gloomy, like the weather outside the window. 


These gentlemen honor all the unwritten rules of the style known as doom death metal. They draw from old archives, but also add a piece of themselves, their ideas, and their inventiveness. At first, the new album rolled over me like a dirty river of death. I stood on the bank and watched terrifying memories float on the surface. Maybe I even saw some dead bodies, but I'm not sure, everything is shrouded in a bloody fog. A lot of images come to mind, my mind is torn apart, the recording has an almost mesmerizing effect on me. Suddenly, the world is once again very twisted, destroyed, and nihilism takes on another dimension. I like the sound, the motif on the cover, but also the individual motifs. With each listen, I discover more and more shades of gray and black. "Forsaken" is exactly the kind of sophisticated and at the same time very animalistic work that I would recommend to all thoughtful fans. I stand in the wind and know very well that you can never change people. We are a strange species, destined for self-destruction. Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Through Void was founded in Portugal in 2023 by musicians with previous experience in the metal scene. Although the band is relatively new, the members are not newcomers. We came together with a clear vision: to create emotionally intense and atmospheric Death/Doom Metal without compromises.

Our sound combines crushing riffs, deep growls, melodic sorrowful passages and immersive atmospheres. It’s heavy, but it’s also introspective. We aim to balance brutality and melancholy in a way that feels organic and honest.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Forsaken was recorded in Portugal under focused and disciplined conditions. We took our time with pre-production to make sure every arrangement had depth and meaning.

The production was handled in close collaboration between the band and our recording team, ensuring we kept full artistic control. Mixing and mastering were done professionally to achieve a sound that is powerful, clear and atmospheric — modern in quality but loyal to the essence of Death/Doom.¨


How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

Forsaken was released worldwide in digital format through all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and others.

Physical editions were released in CD format in limited quantities. We value physical media, especially in Doom Metal culture, and future vinyl editions are definitely something we are considering depending on demand.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and what do the lyrics deal with?

The lyrics are mainly written by Pedro (Guitar) and then adapted by João (Vocals+Guitar), with conceptual input from the rest of the members.

They are created organically alongside the music. Sometimes the riffs inspire the words; sometimes it starts with a concept or emotional state. The themes revolve around existential abandonment, inner decay, loss of faith, mortality and psychological struggle.

Forsaken is not just a title — it represents isolation, confrontation with darkness and the fragility of the human condition.


Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

The band’s logo and visual identity were developed in collaboration with graphic designers who understood our aesthetic direction — dark, minimal and atmospheric.

The website and visual branding were created to match our sonic identity: bleak, immersive and direct.

We manage our social networks actively and strategically. In today’s scene, visibility is essential. Social media is not just promotion — it’s a way to connect with listeners worldwide. We believe artistic integrity and professional communication must coexist.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takes care about you?

We released Forsaken through Maledict Records.

We chose Maledict Records because they share our vision and respect artistic identity. They understand the genre and treat bands as partners, not products.

So far, we are very satisfied. The communication is clear, and the collaboration has been professional and supportive.


Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

We are influenced by bands such as Slayer, Death, Bolt Thrower, Dark Tranquility, Carcass among many others.

However, inspiration also comes from literature, personal experiences, emotional struggles and the darker aspects of existence. We try not to imitate — we absorb and reinterpret through our own perspective.

Did you send your record to some labels – which are the labels? How was the response?

Yes, we contacted several underground and international labels before signing.

The response was positive, which confirmed that our work had impact beyond our local scene. After discussions and evaluation, Maledict Records proved to be the best fit in terms of philosophy and long-term vision.


How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer — clubs or festivals — and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

Since our formation, we have played multiple shows in Portugal and we’re started expanding beyond borders. Have a first concert outside Portugal scheduled in Vigo in March 27th.

Both clubs and festivals have their own atmosphere. Clubs allow intimacy and emotional intensity. Festivals offer scale and exposure.

Some of our most memorable performances were the album release shows and the moments where the audience connected deeply with the atmosphere of Forsaken. For us, the “best show” is always the one where the energy feels real and honest.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Our immediate goal is to continue promoting Forsaken internationally and expand our live presence across Europe.

Long term, we want to build a strong and respected identity within the Death/Doom scene. We are already working on new material — Through Void is not a short-term project. We aim for consistency, evolution and artistic depth.

Odsekávám maso od kostí a kolem mě je sníh a led. Exhumace starých prašivých hrobů uprostřed kruté zimy má sice svoje nepopiratelné morbidní kouzlo, ale je to těžká hrobnická práce. Odnesu rakev raději do nedaleké temné márnice a znovu zapnu play na svém přehrávači. Dnes si rvu pod tlakem do hlavy nové album švédských maniaků HARROWED. Tahle smečka moc dobře ví, jak svojí hudbou zhmotnit dlouhé noci v nekonečných chodbách Hádovy říše.

Hraje se tu, jak také jinak, starý švédský death metal, ušpiněný punkem, crustem i nahrubo nasekaným thrashem. Oba pánové jsou zkušení muzikanti (Adam Lindmark (ex- Morbus Chron, Tobias Alpadie - VAK, DEAD LORD), kteří moc dobře ví, jak nahrát album, které se mi dostane do žil i do podvědomí. Mě tedy nezbývá nic jiného, než odložit pivo na víko od plesnivé rakve a vzít znovu do rukou sekyru. Noc je ještě dlouhá a jedinou mou společností je hudba a nekonečný tanec nemrtvých. 


Hudba je zde postavena na pevných základech, které kdysi dávno položily kapely typu ENTOMBED (ano, logo je také velmi podobné), ENTRAILS, NIHILIST, DISMEMBER (nověji potom BASTARD PRIEST, DEATH BREATH), zazní ale i odkazy na starou poctivou americkou školu AUTOPSY, MASTER, REPULSION, SLAUGHTER. Výsledný koktejl je potom nejen velmi divoký, nespoutaný, ostrý a nekompromisní, ale nezapomíná se ani na chladnou a temnou atmosféru. Pro lepší pochopení celé nahrávky vám opravdu doporučuji následovat mé kroky, které jsem tak vkusně popsal v úvodu dnešní recenze. Album těchto maniaků vynikne nejlépe v nekonečných katakombách, v dávno opuštěných kobkách nebo na starodávných pohřebištích. Nová nahrávka švédských bardů má potom v sobě něco zvláštního, morbidně přitažlivého, shnilého a mokvajícího, co vždy odlišovalo dobré kapely od těch ostatních. Pánové jsou totiž opravdoví, ryzí, uvěřitelní a autentičtí. Jasně, nepřinášejí nic nového, ani převratného, ale to po nich ani nikdo nechce. Nenechte se ale mýlit, novinka "The Eternal Hunger" není ale jen dobře odvedeným řemeslem. Naopak, skladby v sobě mají něco navíc, něco, co se mi pokaždé zadře hluboko pod kůži i do vnitřností. Hodně k tomu přispívá surový, chladný a masivní zvuk, pod kterým je podepsán Robert Pehrsson. V tomto případě lze napsat snad jen jediné - skvělá práce!  O motivu na obalu (Robin Banks) netřeba také diskutovat, je stylový a hodí se k hudbě jako k mrtvému dobře vyrobená rakev. HARROWED nám předkládají ty nejděsivější noční můry, hnus a špínu, se kterými se setkáte, až jednou vaše nebohé tělo roztrhají vlci. Je něco shnilého, prašivého, co mě neustále láká se do kobky s názvem téhle kapely se vracet. Možná to jsou i mé hudební základy, které jsem také čerpal na konci osmdesátých a počátku devadesátých minulého století. Odsekávám maso od kostí a kolem mě je sníh a led. Exhumace starých prašivých hrobů uprostřed kruté zimy má sice svoje nepopiratelné morbidní kouzlo, ale je to těžká hrobnická práce. Pořád mě ale neskutečně baví, stejně jako tohle album. Morbidní, prašivý a shnilý death metal z těch nejtemnějších katakomb! Album, u kterého lezou z rakví nemrtví!

I chop meat off bones surrounded by snow and ice. Exhuming old, mangy graves in the middle of a harsh winter has its undeniable morbid charm, but it's hard grave-digging work. I'd rather take the coffin to a nearby dark morgue and press play on my player again. Today, I'm listening to the new album by Swedish maniacs HARROWED. This band knows very well how to use their music to bring to life the long nights in the endless corridors of Hades' realm.

They play, how else, old Swedish death metal, dirty with punk, crust, and roughly chopped thrash. Both gentlemen are experienced musicians (Adam Lindmark (ex-Morbus Chron, Tobias Alpadie - VAK, DEAD LORD) who know very well how to record an album that gets into my veins and subconscious. So I have no choice but to put my beer down on the lid of a moldy coffin and pick up my axe again. The night is still long, and my only company is music and the endless dance of the undead. 


The music here is built on solid foundations laid long ago by bands such as ENTOMBED (yes, the logo is also very similar), ENTRAILS, NIHILIST, DISMEMBER (and more recently BASTARD PRIEST and DEATH BREATH), but there are also references to the old American school of AUTOPSY, MASTER, REPULSION, and SLAUGHTER. The resulting cocktail is not only very wild, unrestrained, sharp, and uncompromising, but it also doesn't forget to create a cold and dark atmosphere. For a better understanding of the entire recording, I really recommend following my steps, which I so tastefully described in the introduction to today's review. The album by these maniacs stands out best in endless catacombs, long-abandoned dungeons, or ancient burial grounds. The new recording by these Swedish bards has something special, morbidly attractive, rotten, and oozing, which has always distinguished good bands from the rest. These gentlemen are genuine, pure, believable, and authentic. Sure, they don't bring anything new or revolutionary, but no one expects that from them. Make no mistake, however, the new album "The Eternal Hunger" is not just a job well done. On the contrary, the songs have something extra, something that gets under my skin and into my guts every time. The raw, cold, and massive sound, courtesy of Robert Pehrsson, contributes greatly to this. In this case, there is only one thing to say—great job! There's no need to discuss the cover art (Robin Banks) either; it's stylish and fits the music like a well-made coffin fits a dead body. HARROWED presents us with the most terrifying nightmares, filth, and grime you'll encounter when your poor body is torn apart by wolves. There is something rotten and mangy that constantly tempts me to return to the dungeon named after this band. Perhaps it is also my musical roots, which I drew on in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I chop flesh from bones, surrounded by snow and ice. Exhuming old mangy graves in the middle of a harsh winter has its undeniable morbid charm, but it's hard grave-digging work. Still, I enjoy it immensely, just like this album. Morbid, mangy, and rotten death metal from the darkest catacombs! An album that makes the undead crawl out of their coffins!

Vědí o tobě úplně všechno. Kam chodíš, co si dáváš k jídlu, co nakupuješ, co tě baví. S kým se stýkáš a koho miluješ i nenávidíš. Kamery na každém rohu, zatím to jsou jen přesně zacílené reklamy. Platí to ale jen do té doby, dokud pochoduješ v davu. Jakmile uděláš něco jiného, odlišného, nepřístojného, staneš se černou ovcí. Už nikdy neuvidíš krásné růžové reklamy. Shniješ sám a opuštěný v temné plesnivé cele. Nejhorší je, že jsi se vším na začátku souhlasil. Nechci působit paranoidně, ale někdy jsem šokován, co na sebe někteří lidé veřejně prozradí. Jakoby se soukromí úplně vytratilo a jsme ovládáni na dálku šílenými psychopaty.

DEFACED jsou death metalová kapela ze Švýcarska, která přichází po dlouhých jedenácti letech se svým teprve třetím řadovým albem. Nutno ale rovnou dodat, že je vybroušené k dokonalosti. Vše tu sedí perfektně na svých místech, skladby mi rezonují v hlavě, pálí mě, žhnou a působí velmi návykovým dojmem. Až budete mít jednou chuť konečně roztrhnout řetězy, kterými nás současná podivná společnost svazuje, pusťte si pořádně nahlas tohle album. Je totiž vynikající po všech stránkách. 


Není to totiž jenom ostrý, surový zvuk (Simon Egli, Romano Galli), který se povedl. Jsou to hlavně jednotlivé motivy, které v sobě mají spoustu zajímavých nápadů a invence. Jakoby byla v každé skladbě připravena obrovská nálož výbušniny. Základem je zde klasický, tradiční death metal, který je oživen grindovými a black metalovými prvky. Ty jsou vkládány velmi vkusně, elegantně. Schválně jsem si sehnal i předchozí nahrávky, které také považuji za velmi povedené a je opravdu velmi zajímavé sledovat vývoj kapely. Švýcaři jsou letos ve skvělé formě, navíc dokázali do nového alba dostat jakousi morbidní hravost, temnotu, chcete-li. "Icon" ve mě probudilo spoustu emocí, vibruje celým mým tělem i myslí. Velmi často si při poslechu vzpomenu na staré autory sci-fi románů, kteří s až děsivou přesností současný stav světa předpovídali. Také cítíte ten chlad, odtažitost, které z novinky odkapávají, jako krev z dlouho neléčené rány. Z hudby DEFACED je znát, slyšet, jak nad hudbou přemýšleli, jak ji brousili k absolutní dokonalosti. Přesto si zachovávají živočišnost, opravdovost, ryzost, uvěřitelnost a autenticitu. Celým albem se potom prolíná taková zvláštní, nebál bych se napsat melancholická nálada. Jako bych se opravdu stal postavou z povedeného motivu na obalu od Pära Olofssona a díval se, jak kolem mě umírá svět. Nikdy jsme na tom nebyli v technologiích tak dobře jako v současnosti. Tak proč v sobě cítíme prázdnotu a chlad? Nové album je soundtrackem k současné podivné společnosti. Apokalypsa už možná začala. Propracovaný, k dokonalosti vybroušený death metal, který ve vás zanechá hlubokou krvavou stopu! Chladná a temná atmosféra umírajícího světa!

They know everything about you. Where you go, what you eat, what you buy, what you enjoy. Who you hang out with, who you love and who you hate. Cameras on every corner, but for now it's just targeted advertising. But that only applies as long as you march with the crowd. As soon as you do something different, something inappropriate, you become a black sheep. You will never see beautiful pink advertisements again. You will rot alone and abandoned in a dark, moldy cell. The worst part is that you agreed to everything at the beginning. I don't want to sound paranoid, but sometimes I'm shocked by what some people reveal about themselves publicly. It's as if privacy has completely disappeared and we are being controlled remotely by crazy psychopaths.

DEFACED are a death metal band from Switzerland who are releasing their third studio album after a long eleven years. It must be said, however, that it is polished to perfection. Everything fits perfectly in its place, the songs resonate in my head, they burn me, they glow and make a very addictive impression. When you finally feel like breaking the chains that bind us in today's strange society, play this album really loud. It is excellent in every way. 


It's not just the sharp, raw sound (Simon Egli, Romano Galli) that works so well. It's mainly the individual motifs, which contain a lot of interesting ideas and inventiveness. It's as if each song contains a huge explosive charge. The basis here is classic, traditional death metal, which is enlivened by grind and black metal elements. These are inserted very tastefully and elegantly. I deliberately got hold of the previous recordings, which I also consider to be very successful, and it is really very interesting to follow the band's development. The Swiss are in great form this year, and they have managed to bring a kind of morbid playfulness, darkness, if you will, to the new album. "Icon" awakened a lot of emotions in me, it vibrates through my whole body and mind. Very often, while listening, I am reminded of old science fiction novelists who predicted the current state of the world with frightening accuracy. You can also feel the coldness and detachment that drips from the new album like blood from a long-untreated wound. You can hear in DEFACED's music how they thought about it, how they polished it to absolute perfection. Nevertheless, they retain their liveliness, sincerity, purity, credibility, and authenticity. A strange, I would even say melancholic mood pervades the entire album. It's as if I had really become a character from Pär Olofsson's clever cover art and was watching the world die around me. We have never been as technologically advanced as we are today. So why do we feel empty and cold inside? The new album is a soundtrack to today's strange society. The apocalypse may have already begun. Sophisticated, perfectly polished death metal that will leave a deep bloody mark on you! The cold and dark atmosphere of a dying world!

Zrovna čtu jednu velmi dobrou detektivku z Kodaně. Jsem zavřený ve svém pokoji a jako kulisu k temným vizím autora si pouštím nové album thrash death metalových Dánů SHADOWSPAWN. Zasvěcení čtenáři našich stránek moc dobře vědí, že jsem fanouškem kapely a pečlivě sleduji jejich dráhu. Vždycky se mi líbil způsob, jakým dokáže kapela do skladeb propašovat tlak, energii a temnotu. Stejně jako když se ztrácím v ulicích města a pronásleduje mě sériový vrah, tak cítím z nového alba děsivé noční můry.

Pánové jsou zpět a opět dokazují, že umí řezat rovnou do živého. Jsou suroví, techničtí, reální, maniakální, divocí, ale nezapomínají ani na podmanivě krvavou atmosféru. Letošní jedovatý koktejl je ve výsledku velmi chutný a zemřete po něm v krutých křečích. Nějak se mi v hlavě spojil čtený thriller a hudba v jeden celek. Nové album si, jako starý prašivý metalový pes, neskutečně užívám. Je totiž propracované, surové, chladné a temné, autentické. 


Kapela měla, má a určitě bude vždycky mít svůj vlastní originální rukopis. Pánové sice čerpají ze starých metalových spisů a volně se inspirují u kapel typu ASPHYX, BENEDICTION, BOLT THROWER, PESTILENCE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, MASTER, MERCYLLES, DEAD HEAD, ale také přidávají velkou porci vlastních nápadů a invence. Pod masivním, dobře čitelným, živelným a živočišným zvukem je podepsán mistr Kelvin Dam a osobně jej považuji za velmi povedený. Jakoby se mi každý riff zadíral postupně do masa, do mozku, do vnitřností i do podvědomí. Zaujal mě i motiv na obalu, jehož autorem je Henry "MrDist" Pyykkö. Ten odvedl také vynikající práci. Celkově cítím z téhle smečky i všech, kteří se na albu podíleli, takovou tu starou poctivost, kterou mám u kapel rád už skoro 35 let. Patřím ještě mezi generaci, která poslouchá hudbu spíše srdcem, než jen ušima. Novinka "Cadaver Dogs" jakoby pro mě byla průvodcem v ulicích zničeného města. Žijeme v divné době, pradávná, tisíce let ověřená pravidla najednou neplatí. Člověk se stává postupně člověku vlkem. Jsem rád, že kapely jako SHADOWSPAWN nadále vydávají vynikající nahrávky. Jsou pro mě záchytným bodem, kusem něčeho normálního, pevného, opravdového, v dnešním rozervaném světě. Schválně si přečtěte recenze na předchozí nahrávky i skvělý rozhovor, který je odkazován dole pod dnešním článkem. Potom určitě pochopíte, proč jsem fanouškem téhle smečky. Novinkou pánové potvrzují svoji pevnou pozici na scéně a já už teď moc dobře vím, že k nové desce se budu ještě hodně dlouho a často vracet. Hoří totiž zevnitř! Thrash death metalové album, které ve vás zanechá hlubokou krvavou stopu! Vynikající zásek přímo do živého!

I'm currently reading a very good detective story set in Copenhagen. I'm locked in my room and listening to the new album by Danish thrash death metal band SHADOWSPAWN as a backdrop to the author's dark visions. Regular readers of our website know very well that I am a fan of the band and follow their career closely. I've always liked the way the band manages to smuggle pressure, energy, and darkness into their songs. Just as when I get lost in the streets of the city and am being pursued by a serial killer, I feel terrifying nightmares from the new album.

The gentlemen are back and once again prove that they can cut straight to the quick. They are raw, technical, realistic, maniacal, wild, but they don't forget the captivatingly bloody atmosphere. This year's poisonous cocktail is very tasty, and you will die in cruel convulsions after drinking it. Somehow, the thriller I read and the music merged into one in my head. I enjoy the new album immensely, like an old mangy metal dog. It is sophisticated, raw, cold, dark, and authentic.


The band had, has, and will certainly always have its own original style. The gentlemen draw on old metal writings and are loosely inspired by bands such as ASPHYX, BENEDICTION, BOLT THROWER, PESTILENCE, MALEVOLENT CREATION, MASTER, MERCYLLES, and DEAD HEAD, but they also add a large dose of their own ideas and inventiveness. The massive, clear, elemental, and animalistic sound is the work of master Kelvin Dam, and I personally consider it very successful. It's as if each riff gradually digs into my flesh, my brain, my guts, and my subconscious. I was also intrigued by the cover art, created by Henry "MrDist" Pyykkö. He did an excellent job as well. Overall, I feel that this pack and everyone who contributed to the album embodies the kind of old-fashioned honesty that I have loved in bands for almost 35 years. I still belong to a generation that listens to music with their hearts rather than just their ears. The new album "Cadaver Dogs" is like a guide for me through the streets of a destroyed city. We live in strange times, ancient rules that have been proven over thousands of years suddenly no longer apply. Man is gradually becoming a wolf to man. I am glad that bands like SHADOWSPAWN continue to release excellent recordings. For me, they are a point of reference, a piece of something normal, solid, and real in today's torn world. Be sure to read the reviews of their previous recordings and the great interview linked below today's article. Then you will surely understand why I am a fan of this pack. With this new release, the gentlemen confirm their solid position on the scene, and I already know very well that I will be returning to this new album often and for a long time to come. It burns from within! A thrash death metal album that will leave a deep bloody mark on you! An excellent stab right into the heart!
