Tváře ušpiněné krví. Díváš se k nebi, ale už dávno si ztratil naději. Už dlouho tě děsil dnešní divný svět plný zla a přetvářky. Raději si se toulal prázdným temným lesem a hledal stará pohřebiště. Tajemné symboly, děsivé legendy. Sedneš si na kamenný oltář a odříkáš obrácenou modlitbu. Vložíš kazetu do přehrávače a pustíš si novou desku německých tmářů DIABOLIC NIGHT. Sleduji jejich cestu od počátků a i letos musím potvrdit, že vás novinka vrátí po časové ose zpět. Oheň opět hoří jasným, černým plamenem!

Pokud máš rád starý plesnivý metal, který je tradiční a klasický, tak jsi tu správně. Kapela nám opět umíchala velmi jedovatý koktejl, který můžete s klidem podávat na okultních seancích. Záleží jen na vás, jestli na jejich hru přistoupíte. V dnešní době se objevilo spousta nových kapel, hrajících postaru, ale většinou mě moc nebaví. Nehrají totiž srdcem, jako tihle šílení Němci.


Nemusíš si oblékat džínovou vestu, ani nemáš mít gramofon. Stačí, když máš rád poctivou muziku. Je jedno, jakému bohu se klaníš, je jedno, jestli si true a nebo ortodox. Důležité je, abys měl rád starý heavy metal, speed, black a temnotu. Vstával jsem brzy ráno a v ulicích se toulaly přízraky. Byl jsem mimo, daleko v lesích, na starém pohřebišti. Kdysi jsem jako mladý uctíval kapely jako VENOM, DESTROYER 666, DESASTER, NIFELHEIM, BATHORY, SLAYER. Jsem jim věrný dodnes. DIABOLIC NIGHT jsou jejich pokračovateli. Líbí se mi způsob,  jakým na tvorbu těchto legend navázali. Z jejich hudby je cítit jasná inspirace, ale vše je zahrané elegantně, inteligentně a s nadhledem. To se mi potom nedivte, když vypnu všechny obrazovky kolem sebe a vyrazím ven. Daleko za město, na lesní pěšiny. Ze tmy mě sledují démoni, dravci i šílené bestie. Usmívám se a podupávám si do rytmu. Oheň uvnitř mě byl opět zapálen. Užívám si zvuk, s chutí se dívám i na obal. Album "Beneath The Crimson Prophecy" si dávám do hlavy velmi často. Je totiž dobře napsané. Mám pocit, že mi songy drásají obličej do krve, že mě mrazí v zádech. Dobrá hudba je vždy o emocích a Němci letos opět odvedli skvělou práci. A přidali i něco navíc. Takovou tu plesnivou patinu, které v sobě vždy mívaly dobré desky. Tváře ušpiněné krví. Dívám se k nebi, ale už dávno jsem ztratil naději. Už dlouho mě děsí dnešní divný svět plný zla a přetvářky. Raději se toulám prázdným temným lesem a hledám stará pohřebiště. Tajemné symboly, děsivé legendy. Oheň opět hoří jasným, černým plamenem! Black, speed, heavy metalový rituál plný chladu a temnoty!

I've been following their journey since the beginning and this year I have to confirm that the new release will take you back along the timeline. If you like old moldy metal that is traditional and classic, you've come to the right place. The band has once again mixed us a very poisonous cocktail that you can safely serve at occult séances. It's up to you to decide if you're up for their game. There are a lot of new bands playing the old fashioned way nowadays, but mostly I'm not into them. They don't play with their hearts like these crazy Germans.


You don't have to wear a denim vest or have a record player. You just have to like honest music. It doesn't matter what god you worship, it doesn't matter if you're true or orthodox. What matters is that you like old heavy metal, speed, black and dark. I used to wake up early in the morning and there were ghosts wandering the streets. I was out in the woods, far away, in an old burial ground. When I was young, I used to worship bands like VENOM, DESTROYER 666, DESASTER, NIFELHEIM, BATHORY, SLAYER. I'm still loyal to them to this day. DIABOLIC NIGHT are their successors. I like the way they built on the work of these legends. There is a clear inspiration from their music, but everything is played with elegance, intelligence and insight. Don't blame me then when I turn off all the screens around me and head out. Far out of town, on the forest paths. From the darkness, demons, predators and mad beasts follow me. I smile and stomp to the beat. The fire inside me has been rekindled. I enjoy the sound, looking at the cover with relish too. I put the album "Beneath The Crimson Prophecy" in my head a lot. It's well written. I feel like the songs scratch my face to the blood, they give me chills. Good music is always about emotions and the Germans have done a great job again this year. And they've added a little something extra. That moldy patina that good records always had. Faces stained with blood. I look to the heavens, but I lost hope a long time ago. I've long been frightened by today's strange world of evil and pretence. I'd rather wander the empty dark woods looking for old burial grounds. Mysterious symbols, terrifying legends. The fire burns again with a bright, black flame! Black, speed, heavy metal ritual full of cold and darkness!

Všichni o něm věděli, ale nikdo nikdy nezahlédl jeho tvář. Většinou stál ve stínu a usmíval se. Zahalený v kápi se objevil pokaždé, když někdo umřel, když se stalo něco zlého. Nasával atmosféru strachu a beznaděje. Krmil se bolestí. Vyprávěly se o něm děsivé příběhy, spousta lidí jej potkala ve zlých snech. Byl přízrakem, našeptávačem, byl naším svědomím. Připomínal padlého kněze, kterého můžete potkat v prokletých kostelech. Vyznával staré rituály, znal zvrácené modlitby. Včera jsem jej potkal. Stále nevím, jak vypadá, ale pozval mě na výlet do záhrobí.

S chutí přijímám a ihned je mi doporučena nová deska holandsko-norských tmářů ASAGRAUM. Kapely, která hraje totálně bezbožný black metal. Sejdeme do podzemí, užíváme si jednotlivé melodie. Padám pomalu k zemi. Mám prokousnuté hrdlo a usmívám se. Konečně poctivý kov smrti, který koluje i v mých žilách. 


Kapela ve své tvorbě odkazuje na tradiční, klasické black metalové kapely z devadesátých let minulého století. A dělá to velmi zkušeně, odhodlaně a uvěřitelně. Jedná se o třetí dlouhohrající album a opět je plné špíny, hnisu, chladu a vzteku. U tohoto stylu je vždy hodně důležité, jestli je hudba uvěřitelná. Musí smrdět sírou. Atmosféra musí být těžká, plesnivá a mrazivá. ASAGRAUM tohle všechno umí a dělají to velmi elegantně. Zvuk, obal, celkový dojem, vše je podřízeno temnotě. Po formální stránce je všechno v nejlepším pořádku. Skupina ale není jen pokračovatelem, následovníkem. Má spoustu vlastních nápadů a v určitých momentech mi připadá jejich hudba až psychedelická. Mám pocit, že jsem byl dlouhé roky zavřený v plesnivé kobce. A když jsem se konečně dostal ven, tak byl svět dávno zničený. Smog, násilí, strach. Země připomínala území po válce. Totálně zničené. Chvilku jsem nevěděl, jestli je to realita nebo zlý sen. Přízraky dávno zvítězily. To je nám všem jasné. "Veil Of Death, Ruptured" ve mě probudilo spoustu představ a černých fantazií. Líbí se mi, jakým způsobem je hudba napsána. Je podmanivá, zběsilá a chladná zároveň. Připomíná mi ďábelskou mantru, kterou znají jen vyvolení. ASAGRAUM jsou ze své podstaty true a ortodoxní. Zároveň se nebojí prozkoumat všechna dostupná špinavá zákoutí. Nahrávku nelze jinak, než doporučit.  Nasávám atmosféru strachu a beznaděje. Krmím se bolestí. Vyprávěly se o mě děsivé příběhy, spousta lidí mě potkává ve zlých snech. Jsem přízrakem, našeptávačem, jsem vaším svědomím. Démonický, ledový black metalový rituál, u kterého se povedlo vyvolat Satana! Infernální ozvěny z onoho světa!

Everyone knew about him, but no one ever saw his face. Mostly he stood in the shadows and smiled. The hooded figure appeared whenever someone died, whenever something bad happened. He had an air of fear and hopelessness. He fed on pain. Horrible stories were told about him, many people met him in bad dreams. He was a phantom, a whisperer, he was our conscience. He was like a fallen priest you might see in cursed churches. He practiced old rituals, knew twisted prayers. I met him yesterday. I still don't know what he looks like, but he invited me on a trip to the afterlife.

I readily accept and am immediately recommended the new album by Dutch-Norwegian darkies ASAGRAUM. A band that plays totally unholy black metal. We go down to the underground, enjoying the tunes. I'm falling slowly to the ground. My throat is raw and I'm smiling. Finally, the honest metal of death, which flows in my veins.


The band's work refers to traditional, classic black metal bands from the 1990s. And they do it very skilled, determined and believable. This is their third full-length album, and once again it's full of filth, pus, cold and rage. With this style, it's always very important if the music is believable. It has to smell of brimstone. The atmosphere has to be heavy, musty and chilling. ASAGRAUM can do all that and they do it very elegantly. The sound, the cover, the overall impression, everything is subordinated to the darkness. Formally, everything is in the best order. But the band is not just a follower, a successor. They have a lot of their own ideas and at certain moments I find their music almost psychedelic. I feel like I've been locked in a moldy dungeon for years. And when I finally got out, the world had long since been destroyed. Smog, violence, fear. The country resembled a territory after the war. Totally destroyed. For a moment, I didn't know if it was reality or a bad dream. The phantoms had long since won. We all know that. "Veil Of Death, Ruptured" awoke in me many fantasies and black fantasies. I like the way the music is written. It's haunting, frantic and cold at the same time. It reminds me of a devilish mantra that only the chosen know. ASAGRAUM are true and orthodox by nature. At the same time, they're not afraid to explore all the dirty corners available. The recording cannot but be recommended. I soak up the atmosphere of fear and despair. I feed on pain. I've had scary stories told about me, many people meet me in bad dreams. I'm a ghost, a whisperer, I'm your conscience. A demonic, icy black metal ritual that managed to summon Satan! Infernal echoes from the other world!

The new digital single “Color Me Dead” is tied, lyrically, to the same claustrophobic feeling of “Bonesong”. Both groovy and aggressive “Color Me Dead” also builds up an afflictive dark atmosphere of horror. No hope – only bleak feelings and heavy thoughts.

Shadowspawn is back with their highly anticipated fourth release, “Blasphemica - Absolution Carved From Flesh”. The new album from the Danes demonstrates the band’s growth and evolution, while still retaining their signature no-frills-death-metal sound. However, “Blasphemica” walks the extra mile for the band and pushes the boundaries of their musicality, incorporating elements of groove, darkness, and brutality into a cohesive whole. The album showcases the band’s maturity as songwriters and their ability to craft intricate, yet headbanging-worthy compositions.

With ten groovy death metal tracks, set in an abstract lyrical world of steampunk and religious criticism in the pocket, the band visited Tue Madsen at the renowned Antfarm Studios, for drum recording and, later, for mix and mastering, ensuring the best possible sound for their new opus. This will be also Shadowspawn first album with their new drummer Lukas Meier, known from The Petulant and Sacrificial.

Known for their unique blend of groovy and intense soundscapes, Shadowspawn was formed in 2013 by experienced men from the early Danish death metal scene, including well-known forces from, among others, Sacrificial, The Petulant and Cinerator. With their distinct approach to the genre, they have carved a path for themselves in the extreme music scene. From the bands emerging, and with three highly praised releases already, Shadowspawn is a well known act in the domestic metal scene, as well as abroad.

“Blasphemica - Absolution Carved From Flesh” will be released on LP (black vinyl, limited to 300) and digital formats via Emanzipation Productions on October 27th, 2023.

Existují lidé, v jejichž přítomnosti se cítíte divně. Mají zlý pohled a někteří smrdí sírou. Jsou jako šelmy, jsou jako bestie, které vás zničí, roztrhají na kusy. Když nastane válka, stávají se hrdiny. Protože k smrti milují bolest a utrpení. Jednou se mi zdál sen, ve kterém jsem se probudil a vyšel ven z domu. Už neexistovalo žádné světlo, žádný čistý vzduch. Jenom nihilismus, špína a hnis, nenávist a temnota. Bestie zase jednou zvítězily. 

Na svůj sen jsem si vzpomněl i letos v létě, když jsem začal poslouchat debutové album "Slaughter of Human Offerings in the New Age of Pan" polských black metalistů DOMINANCE. Mraky byly zase jednou nízko a lidé kolem mě ukazovali svoji odvrácenou tvář. Podle mě je o těchto věcech a náladách dobrý černý kov. Musí hořet, pálit a chladit zároveň. Musí vám rozdrásat obličej do krve. Polákům se to povedlo na výbornou. Tohle je šílená jízda přímo do pekla! 

Kapela je složena ze zkušených muzkantů (MÖRTALIST, RAPED CHRIST), kteří se rozhodli nás spálit na popel. Můžete si užít opravdu zabijácký zvuk (Haldor Grunberg - Santa Studio (Warsaw, PL)  (Behemoth, Dopelord, Witchmaster)), podívat se na válečný a velmi povedený obal (Witchfucker). Základem hudby těchto maniaků jsou ozvěny od kapel jako MARDUK, DARK FUNERAL, 1349, zazní ale i lehké thrashové motivy (SODOM). Výsledkem je smrtící koktejl, který když ochutnáte, tak zemřete v šílených křečích. Vždycky jsem říkal, že dobrý black metal se pozná podle toho, že máte chuť rozmlátit nejbližší zeď. Ve skladbách je pověstné zlo, špína a hnis. DOMINANCE sice neobjevují nic nového, ale to ani není účelem. Zkrátka a jednoduše, mám neustálou chuť se k nahrávce vracet, rvát si ji do hlavy a poslouchat ji pořádně nahlas. Vždycky jsem měl raději tmu a chlad a proto si dost často zalezu do stínu a užívám si ostré melodie, chorobný vokál, zničující bicí a neskutečně temné nálady, které jsou z desky cítit. Jako když najdete v lese rozkládající se mršinu. Tvář bez očí, vnitřnosti vylezlé ven. Také cítíte pach smrti? Tak přesně takhle na mě působí i "Slaughter of Human Offerings in the New Age of Pan". Už neexistuje žádné světlo, žádný čistý vzduch. Jenom nihilismus, špína a hnis, nenávist a temnota. Bestie zase jednou zvítězily. A nám nezbývá nic jiného, než tančit na jejich hrobech. Téhle smečce se povedlo nahrát album, které je dokonalou esencí toho, co mám na tomhle stylu rád. Zničující, nihilistické, mrazivé black metalové rouhání! Infernální vstup do zlé dimenze!

There are some people who make you feel weird. They have a mean look and some smell of brimstone. They're like beasts, they're like beasts that will destroy you, tear you apart. When there's a war, they become heroes. Because they love pain and suffering to death. I once had a dream in which I woke up and went out of the house. There was no light, no clean air. Only nihilism, dirt and filth, hatred and darkness. The beasts had won once again. 

I remembered my dream this summer when I started listening to the debut album "Slaughter of Human Offerings in the New Age of Pan" by Polish black metallers DOMINANCE. The clouds were low once again and the people around me were showing their turned away face. For me, good black metal is about these things and moods. It must burn, scorch and cool at the same time. It must rip your face to blood. The Poles have done it well. This is a crazy ride straight to hell!

The band is composed of experienced musicians (MÖRTALIST, RAPED CHRIST) who decided to burn us to ashes. You can enjoy a really killer sound (Haldor Grunberg - Santa Studio (Warsaw, PL) (Behemoth, Dopelord, Witchmaster)), check out the warlike and very hilarious cover art (Witchfucker). The basis of the music of these maniacs are echoes from bands like MARDUK, DARK FUNERAL, 1349, but there are also light thrash motifs (SODOM). The result is a deadly cocktail that when you taste it you will die in mad convulsions. I've always said that you can tell good black metal by the fact that you feel like smashing the nearest wall. There's the proverbial evil, filth and pus in the songs. DOMINANCE may not be discovering anything new, but that's not even the point. In short, I have a constant urge to go back to the record, rip it into my head and listen to it properly loud. I've always preferred darkness and coldness, and that's why I often crawl into the shadows and enjoy the sharp melodies, sick vocals, devastating drums and incredibly dark moods that can be felt on the record. Like finding a decomposing carcass in the woods. A face without eyes, guts crawling out. Do you smell death too? That's exactly how "Slaughter of Human Offerings in the New Age of Pan" affects me. There's no more light, no more clean air. Only nihilism, dirt and filth, hatred and darkness. The beasts have won once again. And we have no choice but to dance on their graves. This pack has managed to record an album that is the perfect essence of what I love about this style. Devastating, nihilistic, freezing black metal blasphemy! An infernal entry into an evil dimension!

Nejdřív jsem byl rád, že jsem daleko od zlého a ošklivého světa. Zavřeli mě do malé kobky, několik metrů pod zem. Bez jídla, bez pití. Jen já, tma a několik zuřivých krys. Umíral jsem pomalu a marně volal o pomoc. Rozdrásal jsem si obličej do krve a proklínal jsem Boha. Zajímavé je, že úplně stejné stísněné a bolestivé pocity mám i u poslechu nové desky finských black metalistů VALRAVN. Ti letos přicházejí se svým druhým dlouhohrajícím albem a rovnou musím napsat, že se jedná o přesně takový ten druh hudby, která koluje i v mých žilách.

V kostech se mi usadil mráz a vrátily se mi děsivé noční můry. Říkají o mě, že jsem prokletý. Muzika zde připomíná jedovaté hady, kteří se plazí směrem k vám. Když vás uštknou, tak nejdříve překvapeni hledíte do tmy, abyste nakonec padli na zem a zemřeli v nekonečných křečích. Mám rád black metal, který u mě vyvolává emoce. Zde se potkávají chladné melodie s atmosférou strachu a beznaděje. 


V tomhle stylu si opravdu hodně vybírám a VALRAVN prošli mým sítem i letos. Důvodů je několik. Skladby jsou velmi dobře napsány, zvuk pálí a chladí zároveň a vokály připomínají choroby ze starých časů. Finové si hrají s temnými náladami jako šelma se svojí kořistí. Nejvíc mě ale zaujalo chvění, zvláštní tlak, energie, které se v jejich hudbě ukrývají. Bylo pro mě velmi zajímavé zhasnout všechna světla a zavřít se ve svém pokoji. Jen si tak sedět a poslouchat. Nebo se vydat do lesů se sluchátky na uších a čekat, až se setmí. Ze stínů vystoupily přízraky a kývaly souhlasně hlavou. Ano, tahle deska se opravdu povedla. Je silná ve svých základech, ale kapela netlačí zbytečně na pilu, když to není potřeba. Nechává vyniknout sílu melodií. Přiznám se bez mučení, k nahrávce jsem se často a rád vracel, neustále si ji rval do hlavy. Není divu, povedlo se opravdu vše - zvuk, obal, celkové provedení, produkce, vše je na perfektní úrovni. Všechno bylo podřízeno jedinému, aby vynikla hudba a nápady, kterých je na nahrávce velké množství. V dnešní době mě spousta nových kapel nudí, protože jenom kopírují. VALRAVN sice stojí na pevných klasických, tradičních základech, ale zároveň přidávají něco svého, kus vlastní invence. A to velmi oceňuji! Od chvíle, kdy jsme slyšel "The Awakening" poprvé, tak se těším na každou mlhu, na noc, na staré katakomby, které rád za zvuků téhle desky navštěvuji.  Rozdrásal jsem si obličej do krve a proklínal jsem Boha. Mrazivý black metal, který hoří jasným plamenem!

At first I was glad to be away from the bad and ugly world. They put me in a small dungeon a few meters underground. No food, no drink. Just me, the dark, and a few fierce rats. I was dying slowly, crying for help in vain. I tore my face to blood and cursed God. Interestingly, I have the same cramped and painful feelings when listening to the new album by Finnish black metallers VALRAVN. They come this year with their second full-length album and I have to write right away that this is exactly the kind of music that runs through my veins as well.

A chill settled in my bones and the scary nightmares came back. They say I'm cursed. The music here is like poisonous snakes slithering towards you. When they bite you, you first stare in surprise into the darkness, only to fall to the ground and die in endless convulsions. I like black metal that evokes emotion. Here, cold melodies meet an atmosphere of fear and despair.


I really choose a lot in this style and VALRAVN passed through my net this year. There are several reasons. The songs are very well written, the sound burns and chills at the same time, and the vocals are reminiscent of the diseases of old. The Finns play with dark moods like a beast with its prey. But what caught my attention the most was the trembling, the strange pressure, the energy that is hidden in their music. It was very interesting for me to turn off all the lights and shut myself in my room. Just sit and listen. Or go into the woods with headphones on and wait for it to get dark. Ghosts stepped out of the shadows and nodded their heads in agreement. Yes, this record was really good. It's strong in its fundamentals, but the band doesn't push the envelope unnecessarily when it doesn't need to. It lets the power of the melodies shine through. I'll admit without torture, I returned to the record often and gladly, constantly banging it around in my head. It's no wonder, everything has been done - the sound, the packaging, the overall performance, the production, everything is at a perfect level. Everything has been subordinated to one thing, to make the music and ideas stand out, of which there is a lot on the record. Nowadays I'm bored with a lot of new bands because they just copy. VALRAVN may stand on solid, traditional classical foundations, but at the same time they add something of their own, a piece of their own invention. And I really appreciate that! Ever since the first time I heard "The Awakening" I've been looking forward to every fog, to the night, to the old catacombs that I like to visit to the sounds of this record. I've ripped my face to shreds and cursed God. Freezing black metal that burns with a bright flame!

Bál jsem se dýchat. Stál přede mnou a otíral nůž od krve. Právě jsme zažili starodávný obřad. V kostech jsem měl chlad a vítr žaloval v korunách stromů. Dívám se do tmy a čekám. Až ze mě vyprchá život a přejdu na druhou stranu. Jsem moc rád, že tentokrát mi dělají průvodce black metalisté RUNESPELL z Austrálie. Jsem převezen přes řeku Styx a ocitám se v Hádově říši. A stále poslouchám novou desku "Shores of Náströnd".

Jako bych byl ve starém středověkém městě a právě zažil pradávný rituál pro vyvolávání temných sil. Silné melodie, ostré riffy, zajímavé vokály. Když tohle všechno sečtete, dostanete album, které je v mnoha ohledech vynikající. Pokud jste fanoušci žánru, potom je pro vás doslova povinností. Cítím z něj totiž obrovskou sílu a černou energii.


Kapela je složena z velmi zkušených muzikantů, kteří moc dobře vědí, jak navodit tu správnou temnou atmosféru. Já opravdu při poslechu cítím chlad v kostech. Kývám se do rytmu, jsem mimo tento svět. Vznáším se na krvavých vlnách a mlátím pěstí do stolu. Bývám v black metalu hodně vybíravý, ale tentokrát nemohu jinak, než jenom chválit. Zvuk, obal, celkové provedení, vše je vynikající. Australané mají navíc svůj rukopis, krvavý otisk, takže je ihned poznáte mezi ostatními. Hudebně se pohybujeme ve stejných zkažených vodách jako třeba polští GRAVELAND. Skladby jsou vznešené, majestátní a mají v sobě spoustu zajímavých momentů. V některých momentech si opravdu připadám, jako bych měl horečku a děsivé představy. Když se řekne pagan black metal, tak většinou odvrátím svoji tvář na druhou stranu, ale tentokrát jsem velmi spokojený. RUNESPELL totiž umí navodit pestrou paletu černých nálad. Pochmurných a mrazivých. Je to jako se vydat na výlet zimní krajinou. Podél cesty leží zmrzlá těla mých předchůdců. Jsem moc rád, že se mi tohle album dostalo do ruky. Už teď vím, že se k němu budu rád a často vracet. Bál jsem se dýchat. Stál přede mnou a otíral nůž od krve. Právě jsme zažili starodávný obřad. V kostech jsem měl chlad a vítr žaloval v korunách stromů. Dívám se do tmy a čekám. Až ze mě vyprchá život a přejdu na druhou stranu. Mraky jsou nízko a z nebe prší krvavý déšť. Mrazivé black metalové rouhání!

It's like I'm in an old medieval city and I've just experienced an ancient ritual for summoning dark forces. Strong melodies, sharp riffs, interesting vocals. When you add it all up, you get an album that is excellent in many ways. If you're a fan of the genre, then this is literally a must for you. Because I can feel a huge power and black energy from it.


The band is composed of very experienced musicians who know very well how to create the right dark atmosphere. I really feel the chill in my bones when I listen to it. I sway to the beat, I'm out of this world. I'm floating on bloody waves and pounding my fist on the table. I used to be very picky about black metal, but this time I can't help but praise. The sound, the cover, the overall execution, everything is excellent. The Aussies also have their signature, bloody imprint, so you can immediately recognize them among the others. Musically, we are in the same corrupted waters as, for example, Polish GRAVELAND. The songs are sublime, majestic and have a lot of interesting moments in them. At some points I really feel like I'm having a fever and scary fantasies. I usually turn my face the other way when you say pagan black metal, but this time I am very satisfied. RUNESPELL can evoke a wide variety of black moods. Gloomy and chilling. It's like taking a trip through a winter landscape. The frozen bodies of my predecessors lie along the road. I'm so glad I got my hands on this album. I already know I'll be coming back to it often. I was afraid to breathe. He stood in front of me, wiping the blood off the knife. Ležíš na studené podlaze a všechno na tebe padá. Vzduch je těžký a dusíš se. Do vnitřností se ti pomalu vkrádá pocit, že je v tobě něco shnilého, zlého, ošklivého. Chytáš hlavu do dlaní a přeješ si, aby ti vyskočil mozek z hlavy. Je to smutek? Je to strach? Už dávno nevíš. Odsouzen ke smrti, svým vlastním soudem. Chceš už jenom hudbu, která by ti pomohla přejít na druhou stranu. Funerální doom metal v podání španělských tmářů OF DARKNESS je přesně to, co potřebuješ.

Navštívil jsem mnoho starých rituálů, byl jsem účastníkem spousty seancí. V chladu a temnotě trávím většinu svého času. Ale tuhle smečku jsem ještě neslyšel. První i mnohá další setkání ale proběhla velmi dobře. Pánové umí složit zajímavé skladby, které v sobě mají zimu, tmu i bolest. Jsou naléhavé, sebezničující, drásavé. "Missa Tridentina" se tak ihned stalo mojí nedílnou součástí. Obzvláště ve chvílích, kdy jsem měl splín a venku byla mlha a smog.


Už teď se těším na podzim, na listí, padající k zemi, na pach hniloby. Myslím si, že v této době vynikne album nejvíce. Kapela ráda objevuje, hraje si s náladami. Nebyl to zpočátku lehký poslech, vždy jsem musel mít pochmurnou náladu. Když se tak ale stalo, byl jsem pokaždé pohlcen. Kráčel jsem po krvavých vlnách špinavé řeky Styx. Kolem mě se vznášela nafouklá těla mrtvol. V kostech cítím chlad a užívám si velmi dobře ošetřený zvuk (Javi Félez - recording, mixing, mastering), s chutí se dívám na obal. Občas to na mě přijde a musím ven. Probudím se v noci a album "Missa Tridentina" mi hraje do kroku. Šlo se mi ale vždy velmi těžce. Měl jsem pocit, že mi někdo celou dobu stojí těžkou botou na prsou. Občas jsme spolu s kapelou nahlédli do jiné dimenze, potkali přízraky a zanechali po sobě prašivou stopu. OF DARKNESS jsou zajímaví i tím, že jsou jiní, odlišní a mají vlastní výraz. Pokud jste obdivovatelé podobné hudby, neváhejte ani chvilku. Působí velmi majestátně, tajemně a magicky. Skladby v sobě mají velkou sílu, takovou zvláštní a těžko popsatelnou energii. Proséval jsem mezi prsty prach svých předků. Maloval jsem na zeď tajemné symboly. Slyšel jsem děsivé ozvěny ze záhrobí. A tohle všechno se dělo z jediného důvodu. Poslouchal jsem stále dokola desku "Missa Tridentina". Myslím si totiž, že se povedla po všech stránkách. Ležíš na studené podlaze a všechno na tebe padá. Vzduch je těžký a dusíš se. Do vnitřností se ti pomalu vkrádá pocit, že je v tobě něco shnilého, zlého, ošklivého. Chytáš hlavu do dlaní a přeješ si, aby ti vyskočil mozek z hlavy. Je to smutek? Je to strach? Ne, jsou to OF DARKNESS. Okultní funeral doom metalový obřad, u kterého nahlédnete za krvavě mlhavou oponu, na onen svět!

I've visited many old rituals, I've been to many seances. I spend most of my time in the cold and dark. But I've never heard this pack before. But the first and many subsequent encounters went very well. The gentlemen can compose interesting pieces that have cold, darkness and pain in them. They're urgent, self-destructive, poignant. "Missa Tridentina" immediately became an integral part of me. Especially at times when I had a full moon and it was foggy and smoggy outside.


I am already looking forward to autumn, to the leaves falling to the ground, to the smell of rot. I think that's when the album will stand out the most. The band likes to explore, play with moods. It wasn't an easy listen at first, I always had to be in a gloomy mood. But when I did, I was engrossed every time. I was walking on the bloody waves of the dirty river Styx. Bloated corpses floated around me. Feeling the chill in my bones and enjoying the very well treated sound (Javi Félez - recording, mixing, mastering), I look at the cover with relish. Sometimes it comes to me and I have to get out. I wake up in the night and the album "Missa Tridentina" plays in my step. But I've always found it very hard to follow. I felt like I had a heavy boot on my chest the whole time. Sometimes the band and I would peer into another dimension, meet ghosts and leave a scabby trail. OF DARKNESS are also interesting because they are different, distinct and have their own expression. If you are a fan of this kind of music, don't hesitate a moment. They are very majestic, mysterious and magical. The songs have a great power in them, such a strange and hard to describe energy. I sifted the dust of my ancestors between my fingers. I painted mysterious symbols on the wall. I've heard eerie echoes from beyond the grave. And all this was happening for one reason. I listened to the Missa Tridentina over and over again. Because I think it was a success in every way. You're lying on a cold floor and everything's falling on you. The air is heavy and you're suffocating. Pálí mě mozek a nemůžu se postavit na nohy. Ozvěny včerejšího dne mě bolí jako ostré čepele nožů. Vnitřnosti se mi kroutí jako mladá háďata. Podá mi další pivo a řekne, ještě jsme neskončili. Ve starém zaplivaném klubu na periférii o kterém se říká, že v jeho sklepě je vchod do pekla. Jsem připraven, připíjím na zdraví všem nemrtvým a znovu zapínám play. Němečtí CRUEL FORCE vydali nové album. Bylo potřeba nakoupit pivo, zavřít všechna okna a zatemnit. Tahle hudba nejlépe vynikne v podzemí, v nekonečných chodbách Hádovy říše.

Současná retro black thrash heavy metalová vlna mi toho moc neříká. Ale občas se z ní vynoří kapely, které stojí za to poslouchat. Novinka "Dawn Of The Axe" mě na rozdíl od jiných opravdu baví. Je to smršť, je to lavina, ale promyšlená a velmi dobře složená. Připíjím na zdraví a tančím na svém vlastním hrobě. 


Zvukově mi novinka připomíná některé poslední nahrávky DESTROYER 666. Hudebně mají pánové velmi blízko třeba k takovým SLAYER, MERCYFUL FATE, VENOM, HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST. To by nebylo zase tak zajímavé, v dnešní době se nelze vyhnout přirovnání. Mě ale nejvíc zaujalo nadšení, opravdovost. Já Němcům jejich práci zkrátka věřím. Pro mě je tohle hodně důležitá věc. Líbí se mi sóla, takový ten drive a chvění, které mě nutí podupávat nohou, kývat se do rytmu a samozřejmě neustále otevírat další a další piva. Jsem starej pes, který by mohl poslouchat stále dokola jen desky z osmdesátých a devadesátých let. Jsem rád, že nemusím, že ještě stále existují hudebníci jako CRUEL FORCE, kteří mi umí nakopat prdel. "Dawn Of The Axe" je deskou, která se mezi ostatními rozhodně neztratí. Hezky jsem si u ní zavzpomínal a i když je v tom samozřejmě velký kus nostalgie, tak mě baví album poslouchat. Mám to takhle nastavené více než třicet let. Pokaždé, když mě něco trápí nebo naštve, zavřu se do jedné plesnivé kobky, poslouchám podobné záležitosti a piju k tomu pivo. Já už se měnit nebudu. Ale dokud tady na tom podivném světě budu, chci podobné nahrávky podporovat. Hoří totiž jasným plamenem! Pálí mě mozek a nemůžu se postavit na nohy. Ozvěny včerejšího dne mě bolí jako ostré čepele nožů. Vnitřnosti se mi kroutí jako mladá háďata. Podá mi další pivo a řekne, ještě jsme neskončili. Moje vlastní Smrt. Poděkuju a poslouchám "Dawn Of The Axe" stále dokola. Black thrash metalová jízda přímo do pekla! Brána je otevřena!

I'm ready, I raise a toast to all the undead, and I turn the play back on. Germany's CRUEL FORCE have released a new album. We had to buy beer, close all the windows and black out. This music is at its best underground, in the endless corridors of Hades.

The current wave of retro black thrash heavy metal doesn't say much to me. But occasionally, bands worth listening to emerge from it. The new "Dawn Of The Axe", unlike the others, really entertains me. It's a whirlwind, it's an avalanche, but well thought out and very well composed. I'm toasting my health and dancing on my own grave.


Sound-wise, the new album reminds me of some of the latest DESTROYER 666 recordings. Musically, the gentlemen are very close to SLAYER, MERCYFUL FATE, VENOM, HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST. That wouldn't be so interesting, nowadays you can't avoid comparisons. But I was most impressed by the enthusiasm, the realness. I simply trust the Germans in their work. This is a very important thing for me. I like the solos, the drive and the shake that makes me stomp my feet, sway to the rhythm and of course keep opening more and more beers. I'm an old dog who could only listen to records from the 80s and 90s over and over again. I'm glad I don't have to, that there are still musicians like CRUEL FORCE who can kick my ass. "Dawn Of The Axe" is a record that will definitely not get lost among the others. I had a good time reminiscing and even though there is a big piece of nostalgia in it, I enjoy listening to the album. I've had it set up that way for over thirty years. Every time something bothers me or upsets me, I lock myself in a moldy dungeon, listen to stuff like this and drink beer to go with it. I'm not changing anymore. But as long as I'm here in this weird world, I want to support records like this. Because they're burning bright! My brain's burning and I can't get back on my feet. The echoes of yesterday hurt me like sharp knife blades. My insides wriggle like young nematodes. He hands me another beer and says we're not done yet. My own Death. I say thank you and listen to "Dawn Of The Axe" over and over. Black thrash metal ride straight to hell! The gates are open!

Navštěvuješ města, která byla ještě nedávno krásná a zajímavá. Něco se stalo, ale nikdo neví co. Ulicemi se toulají smečky rozzuřených psů i lidí. Jakoby všechny zasáhla vzteklina. Děs v očích, nakumulovaná nenávist. Bojíš se každého stínu, nikdy nevíš, odkud na tebe zaútočí. Kdysi hezká země se pomalu rozpadá. Máme to v hlavě, musíme všechno zničit, zapálit, každého ponížit. Na ulicích leží shnilé mrtvoly a nikdo je neuklízí. Hřbitovy jsou plné těch, co ještě alespoň trošku věřili v dobro. Apokalypsa začala!

A hraje nám k ní španělská skupina šílenců KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR. Pokud sledujete naše stránky, asi moc dobře víte, že kombinace thrash metalu a blacku mi dělá velmi dobře na mé zkažené duši. Jen se to musí umět zahrát, musí být dobrý zvuk a nápady. A tohle všechno splňují Španělé na výbornou. Shoříte na popel!


Připadám si jako v nějakém divokém víru. Pánové se s tím moc nepárají. Jdou rovnou na věc. Základem jsou klasické, tradiční riffy ve stylu třeba takových SODOM, BATHORY, DESASTER, AURA NOIR, VENOM, DARKTHRONE, MOTORHEAD, PROTECTOR. Pozorný posluchač pak rozezná i odkazy na VOIVOD, VEKTOR. Jako celek hoří album jasným plamenem. Přiznám se bez mučení, neznám nic lepšího pro páteční večer, než čerstvě otevřené pivo, rakev a poslech desky "Built to Kill". Je totiž velmi chytře napsaná a složená. Zároveň si zachovává takovou tu chtěnou a potřebnou rebelii a drive, které mám u podobných skupin tolik rád. Také máte pocit, že se svět někdy zbláznil? Že kdysi jasná pravidla dávno neplatí? Tak zde je ještě  vše v pořádku. KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR hrají od srdce, uvěřitelně, s krvavou jiskrou v oku. Nebojte se, rozhodně se nejedná o dnes tolik častou kopírku bez vlastní invence. Naopak. Pokud si nahrávku pustíte, tak sice rozeznáte odkazy na zlatý věk thrashe a blacku, ale zároveň si užijete i spoustu zajímavých nápadů. Doporučuji poslouchat v absolutní tmě, chladu a nejlépe s nějakým dobrým pitím v ruce. Svět za oknem možná brzy zanikne, ale dokud budou existovat podobné desky, má smysl stále bojovat. Navštěvuješ města, která byla ještě nedávno krásná a zajímavá. Něco se stalo, ale nikdo neví co. Ulicemi se toulají smečky rozzuřených psů i lidí. Bereš do ruky kladivo a bouráš první zeď! Pekelně silná thrash black metalová jízda! Válečný stav s nebem je vyhlášen!

I feel like I'm in some kind of wild swirl. Gentlemen, get right to it. The basis is classic, traditional riffs in the style of such bands as SODOM, BATHORY, DESASTER, AURA NOIR, VENOM, DARKTHRONE, MOTORHEAD, PROTECTOR. The attentive listener will also recognize references to VOIVOD, VEKTOR. As a whole, the album burns with a bright flame. I admit without torture, I don't know anything better for a Friday night than a freshly opened beer, a coffin and listening to "Built to Kill". It is in fact very well written and composed. At the same time, it retains that wanted and needed rebellion and drive that I love so much in bands like this. Do you also feel that the world has gone crazy? That the once clear rules are no longer valid? Well, everything is still okay here. KÖRGULL THE EXTERMINATOR play from the heart, believably, with a bloody sparkle in their eye. Don't worry, this is definitely not the copycat without invention so common today. On the contrary. If you listen to the record, you will recognize references to the golden age of thrash and black metal, but you will also enjoy a lot of interesting ideas. I recommend listening in absolute darkness, cool and preferably with some good drink in hand. The world outside your window may soon disappear, but as long as records like this exist, it's still worth fighting for. You're visiting cities that were beautiful and interesting not so long ago. Something has happened, but no one knows what. There are packs of rabid dogs and people wandering the streets. You pick up a hammer and break down the first wall! One hell of a thrash black metal ride! A state of war with heaven is declared!

Někdy se dívám do tmy příliš dlouho. Nevidím před sebou žádné světlo, žádnou naději. Jenom zlo, špínu a nenávist. Negace všeho dobrého vyhledávám i v hudbě. Život ve stínu mi vyhovuje, vše je jednodušší, ohlodané na kost. V undergroundu to takhle chodí. U black metalu obzvlášť. Jsem poutníkem, který je navěky ztracený v chodbách Hádovy říše. A stále rád a s chutí objevuji kapely, projekty, které mě nabijí černou energií. 

GEIST OF OUACHITA je kapelou jednoho muže, který si říká Roanoke. Ten je podespán pod všemi nástroji i vokály. Není to žádný nováček na scéně. Naopak, mohli jste jej potkat v kapelách jako 1789, Darkest Bethlehem, Death Be with Thee, Gloria's Garden, Nocturnal Tyrant, Northern Solitude, Thy Heart, Thine Kingdom, Till, Tome of Alsiare, Winterspells, Xirgan. O kvalitu je tak postaráno. A to nejen po zvukové stránce nebo co se týká obalu (ten je vynikající), ale i ohledně samotné hudby.


Na počátku byl chaos, tak praví jedna teorie vzniku vesmíru. Pro pochopení téhle nahrávky se musíte vydat po časové ose zpět. Do Norska a Švédska devadesátých let minulého století. Budete mít obličej zkřivený bolestí a přesto budete neustále přidávat hlasitost. Skladby jsou totiž napsány s jediným účelem. Abyste u nich umrzli chladem. Je to hnis a špína, nahrubo nasekaná tma, zlo a nenávist. Tradiční, klasický sound sice není ničím objevným, ale je cítit, že Roanoke věří své morbidní práci a hraje od srdce. Nečekejte žádnou progresi ani novátorství. Naopak, tohle album ocení hlavně všichni tmáři, fanoušsci tradičních postupů. Je to jako navštívit hřbitov daleko na severu. Lehnout si do sněhu a za zvuků vánice a téhle desky zemřít, stát se pomalu nemrtvým. Ano, "Imprisoned in the Graven Wood" je určeno všem přízrakům, démonům i těm, kteří jako já žijí jenom v temnotě. V některých skladbách se možná až moc opakují motivy a v určitých chvílích je na mě chaosu až příliš, ale to berte jako drobné výtky starého psa. Jinak je vše v nejlepším pořádku. Pokud máte rádi staré dobré časy, kde ještě hořel oheň jasným plamenem, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete poctivou porci shnilého masa. A bude podávána na víku od rakve. No řekněte, co si víc může prokletý přát? Někdy se dívám do tmy příliš dlouho. Nevidím před sebou žádné světlo, žádnou naději. Jenom zlo, špínu a nenávist. Chladné black metalový vichr ze starých kobek! Povinnost pro všechny umrlce!

GEIST OF OUACHITA is a one-man band called Roanoke. He's underneath all the instruments and vocals. He's no newcomer to the scene. On the contrary, you could have met him in bands like 1789, Darkest Bethlehem, Death Be with Thee, Gloria's Garden, Nocturnal Tyrant, Northern Solitude, Thy Heart, Thine Kingdom, Till, Tome of Alsiare, Winterspells, Xirgan. Quality is thus taken care of. And not only in terms of sound or cover art (which is excellent), but also in terms of the music itself.


In the beginning was chaos, so says one theory of the origin of the universe. To understand this recording, you have to go back in time. To Norway and Sweden in the 1990s.
