CUTTERRED FLESH patří k nejstarším tělesům, které na tuzemské scéně máme. Kapela založená v Karlových Varech roku 2001 o sobě obzvlášť v posledních pěti letech dává hodně vědět a maká. Zintenzivněla koncertní činnost, hojně jezdí za hranice a na posledních dvou deskách krom většího zapojení melodií, atmosféry a techniky řádně zmodernizovala svůj sound. Především letošní povedená deska „Love at First Bite“, na níž karlovarští začali doslova psát vlastní pravidla hry, je toho důkazem.
Pětice totiž na novince do jinak rigidního brutal žánru vpravila spousta osvěžujícího a zapojila i progresivní myšlenky, takže ač CUTTERRED FLESH stále vyvijí tlak a drtí, zároveň jim v té brutalitě nechybí rozmanitost, která z nich dělá moderní deathmetalové těleso jdoucí s dobou.
A taková deska si samozřejmě žádá oficiální uvedení na trh, takže jste tímto zváni na dvě akce, kde bude „Love at First Bite“, která vyšla v květnu u agilního labelu Transcending Obscurity, pokřtěna. Stane se tak v Plzni Pod Lampou a Uherském Hradišti v Míru, kde vám CUTTERRED FLESH novou desku řádně představí a dopomohou jim k tomu další čtyři spolky.
První z nich je z Německa a jsou jimi NECROTTED, kteří k hudbě s Cutterred Flesh sdílí podobný přístup, ačkoli jejich tvorba je melodičtější a ne tak natlakovaná a nese víc deathcore prvků. Od svého založení v roce 2008 vydali pět alb, doporučme hlavně poslední desku „Imperium“ (2023), kde se NECROTTED stejně jako CF oddávají i blackened náladám, ale téměř jistě jí na poli současného death metalu zanezachávají zvučnou stopu.
Dalšími spolukmotry budou tři tuzemské stálice, z nichž hned dvě si říkají o titul ‘legendy’. Jednak obnovení ISACAARUM, kteří leta osobitě spojují black s grindem (zpěvák Chymus na obou akcích navíc oslaví svou padesátku), a dále INGROWING, kteří před dvěma lety ve své sestavě přívitali staré členy Zbyňu a Pouzara. Poslední v sestavě jsou litoměřičtí deathcore sypači ANIME TORMENT.
Vzhledem k zajímavě poskládané sestavě, křtu a oslavě padesátin se bude určitě jednat o nezapomenutelné akce, kde uslyšíte i spousta nových skladeb, minimálně těch od CUTTERRED FLESH a ISACAARUM.
Stojím na okraji hluboké jámy. Dívám se do tmy a kolem se vznáší mlha smíchaná se smogem. Úkol zněl jasně. Odkrýt hromadný hrob, ve kterém byli kdysi pochováni vojáci temnoty. Sleduji starý, rezavý buldozer, který odkrývá jednotlivé vrstvy. Sune se kupředu, nekompromisně, bez slitování, s jediným účelem. Všechno zničit, rozsekat, rozdrtit. Na boku září do tmy nápis INFERN. Kapela, která hraje surový, chladný a temný death metal. Objevili jsme další těla, další děsivá svědectví.
Jedná se o debutové album, které když si poslechnete poprvé, budete si podupávat nohou, mlátit pěstí do stolu a zatoužíte vzít do rukou velké kladivo a zbourat nejbližší zeď. Skladby jsou napsány s jediným účelem. Zničit vás, pohřbít zaživa. Rozdrtit. Nutno rovnou dodat, že se to kapele daří na výbornou.
Pokud jste, stejně jako já, vyrůstali na hudbě devadesátých let minulého století, pokud jste sedávali dlouhé hodiny u přehrávačů a přetáčeli stále dokola kazety od kapel jako BOLT THROWER, ASPHYX, OBITUARY, MORGOTH, MASSACRE a dalších klasiků, budete určitě spokojeni i s tím, co nám letos předkládají INFERN. Tihle maniaci moc dobře ví, o čem je krutá a reálná smrt, o čem jsou pohřby do země. Na novince naleznete chladné riffy, brutální melodie, chorobný vokál, ale hlavně velké množství temné energie a síly. Pod hudbou jsou zde podepsáni zkušení muzikanti, kteří moc dobře ví, o čem a jak chtějí hrát. Dali si pozor na zvuk (Mixed and mastered by Charles Elliott at Tastemaker Audio (Abysmal Dawn)). Povedl se i děsivý obal, pod kterým je podepsán Riko. Zkrátka a dobře, fanoušci dostanou propracovaný, velmi dobře zahraný death metal ze staré školy, který v sobě obsahuje velké množství zajímavých momentů. Kapela je silná jak v pomalejších valivějších pasážích, tak i ve chvílích, kdy utíká vše rychle kupředu. Výsledný dojem je vynikající, to vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví. "Turn of the Tide" lze doporučit všem, kteří mají rádi poctivou muziku, zahranou od srdce. Krutost a špína se ukrývá v našich temných myšlenkách. Historie se neustále opakuje. Pamatujte na to, až budete odkrývat staré hroby. Stojím na okraji hluboké jámy. Dívám se do tmy a kolem se vznáší mlha smíchaná se smogem. Úkol zněl jasně, všechno zničit. Když někoho zabiješ v temné ulici, tak budeš odsouzený za vraždu. Když ale zastřelíš ve válce svého protivníka, tak tě budou oslavovat. Lidská historie je plná násilí. Jakoby uvnitř našich myšlenek byla temnota, která vyplave na povrch pokaždé, když dostaneme příležitost. Nožem si můžeš připravit jídlo, ale můžeš jím také rozřezat člověka. Existuje odvrácená strana našeho světa, před kterou přivíráme oči a děláme, že neexistuje.
Je moc dobře, že existují kapely, jako jsou brazilští black death metalisté MURDERESS. Ti dokáží pomocí své hudby na podobná témata upozorňovat. A dělají to velmi zkušeně a přesvědčivě. V dnešní době je velká nadprodukce muziky. Jsem rád, když se objeví někdo, kdo hraje upřímně, opravdově, od srdce. Nové EP "Time to Kill" mě ihned smetlo a strhlo do hlubiny. Skladby jsou totiž napsány velmi uvěřitelně.
Kapela je společným dílem dvou muzikantek Jazz Kaipora (kytara) a Claudia Franco (zpěv), sestavu potom doplňuje bubeník Pedro Fraga. Ze skladeb cítím, že mezi jednotlivými členy funguje vzájemná umělecká chemie. MURDERESS přesně vědí, co a jak chtějí hrát. Starý, prašivý a smrtelnými chorobami nasáklý smrtící kov. Čtyři songy, ostré jako čepele čerstvě nabroušených skalpelů. Zároveň temné a chladné, jako ráno, když tě probudí a řeknou, že musíš jít zabíjet. Nevíš proč a koho, ale dostaneš zbraň a jasný cíl. The band is a joint effort of two musicians Jazz Kaipora (guitar) and Claudia Franco (vocals), with drummer Pedro Fraga completing the line-up. From the songs, I can feel that there is a mutual artistic chemistry between the members. MURDERESS know exactly what and how they want to play. Old, dusty and disease-ridden death metal. Four songs as sharp as the blades of freshly sharpened scalpels. Dark and cold at the same time, like waking up in the morning and being told you have to go kill. A few questions - interview with black death metal band from Brazil - MURDERESS.
1. Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? When was it founded and what style of music do you play?
Ave! Murderess was founded in 2023 by guitarist Jazz Kaipora and vocalist Claudia Franco. We play a mix of death metal, doom, and black metal, focusing on brutal riffs, dark atmospheres, and feminist themes. Our music carries a raw and emotional intensity, tackling social issues and giving a voice to women who have been oppressed.
2. Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production, and mastering?
We recorded our EP Time to Kill at Orbis Studio in Brasília, which is a fantastic studio for capturing the depth and heaviness of our sound. The production was handled by the band in collaboration with the studio, allowing us to maintain full creative control over the process. We wanted the EP to sound raw, powerful, and unpolished, reflecting the themes of anger and rebellion.
3. How many copies were released, and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
Time to Kill was released digitally on all major platforms. Right now, we’re focusing on the digital edition as we build our audience, but we’re definitely looking into physical releases like CDs or vinyl in the future as the demand grows.
4. Who is the author of the lyrics, and how were they created? What do the lyrics deal with?
The lyrics are written by Jazz Kaipora and Claudia Franco. We draw a lot of inspiration from real-life events and historical women who faced violence and oppression but chose to fight back. The themes in Time to Kill reflect a rejection of the typical romanticization of violence against women and instead offer stories of vengeance, resistance, and empowerment. It’s a call to arms for all women to reclaim their power in a world that often tries to silence them.
5. Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
The artwork for Time to Kill was created by Ivan Hugo, an incredible artist from Brasília, who can be found on Instagram as @voodoofordummies. Our logo was designed by @djsaudades from São Paulo. As for everything else, we handle it all ourselves. We’re just regular people with common jobs here in Brazil, so unfortunately, we can’t yet dedicate ourselves fully to the band—though we hope that will change soon! While we consider visual media important, right now our main focus is on the music itself and rehearsing for upcoming shows.
6. Which label did you choose for releasing your album, and why this label? Are you satisfied with how your label represents you and takes care of you?
We haven’t signed with a label yet and are currently releasing our music independently. While this allows us more freedom, we’re also open to working with a label that understands our message and can help us reach a wider audience. We’re exploring options and considering what would be the best fit for Murderess.
7. Which bands do you idolize, and where do you get your inspiration?
We’re influenced by a mix of metal legends and strong female-fronted bands like Valhalla, Nervosa, and Soror for their attitude and the way they challenge the metal scene’s norms.. Bands like Celtic Frost, Sepultura, Bolt Thrower, Death, and Candlemass inspire us musically. .
8. Did you send your record to some labels? Which ones, and how was the response?
We were eager to release our album, so we haven’t reached out to any labels yet. However, some labels have contacted us through Bandcamp, expressing interest in our music. We're exploring those opportunities as they come in.
9. How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it’s clubs or festivals, and which of your performances would you consider the best?
We’ve played 4 gigs in the Brazilian underground scene, all in clubs. Recently, we had the honor of opening for Crypta, a prominent band in our genre. This year, we also have shows lined up with Velho and Mystifier, both legendary names in the Brazilian underground. We love the energy of club shows, where the connection with the audience is intimate and intense. However, we’re also excited about the opportunity to play larger festivals in the future!
10. What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
We’re currently working on Time to Kill Volume 2 and planning more shows until the end of the year. Our long-term goal is to go on tour, especially to promote the Brazilian underground metal scene and the power of women in metal. We want to spread our message internationally and reach a wider audience, challenging the stereotypes in metal and proving that women can be just as fierce and brutal as anyone.

Frenetický pohřební tanec postupně graduje. Na oltáři leží mladá dívka, od malička vychována k tomu, že bude jednou obětí. Vedle ní se leskne to tmy čerstvě nabroušený nůž. Mniši se usmívají. Smrt je zase jednou velmi blízko. Potom zazní první riff, první úder do bicích. Ozve se řev bestie a krev ztéká pomalu dolů, do země. Poslouchám nové album mých oblíbených RIPPED TO SHREDS již nějaký čas a pokaždé se ocitnu na dalším pohřební rituálu.
Kapela, pocházející z San Jose z Kalifornie má jasné a zřetelné čínské kořeny. V textech tak můžete nalézt spoustu odkazů na tchajwanský folklór. Přejít na druhou stranu, do země nekonečných stínů, můžete mnoha způsoby. Ten, který zvolila tato old school death metalová smečka, je velmi uvěřitelný, syrový, temný a divoký. Stejně jako jejich hudba, která má mnoho, do černé zabarvených odstínů. Texty si rozhodně přečtěte, opravdu stojí za to. Potkáte v nich fotografy, kteří reálně fotili snímky starých umírajících lidí. Ze skladeb odkapává spousta pochmurných emocí. Dodává to desce na ještě větším tlaku.
Hudba těchto tmářů je v základech ovlivněna smečkami jako GRAVE, DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED, BOLT THROWER, ENTRAILS, WOMBBATH, TERRORIZER, NAPALM DEATH, BRUTAL TRUTH, REPULSION. To ale není zase tolik důležité. Hlavní je způsob a provedení, jakým na nás kapela ze záhrobí útočí. Opět se skvělým zvukem (Damian Herring - mastering) a zajímavým, neotřelým obalem, který doplňuje a zvýrazňuje atmosféru celé nahrávky (Guang Yang). RIPPED TO SHREDS jsou od svých počátků plně oddáni základním myšlenkám death metalu a dělají to hodně přesvědčivě. Důkazem budiž i předchozí recenze a rozhovor, které jsou odkazovány dole pod dnešním článkem. Novinka mi přijde zase o nějaký řád surovější, temnější. Hudba zde opravdu láme kosti v těle. Představte si starou márnici, ve které čekají těla na pohřeb. Je to právě čas mezi naším a oním světem, mezi světlem a tmou, mezi hnitím zaživa a chladnou zemí, ve kterém vynikne album "Sanshi" nejvíce. Zkrátka a dobře, pokud beze zbytku uctíváte undergroundovou hudbu z devadesátých let a dokážete ocenit pach rozkládajících se mrtvol, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Hraje se zde hlavně pro vás, i pro všechny démony, prokleté, pro fanoušky pohřbů do země. Marně jsem hledal něco, co bych desce vytkl. Je to vlastně jednoduché, nic jsem nenašel. Naopak, od začátku do konce jsem přikován ke zdi a rozsekán na kusy. Nová nahrávka vás smete, zničí, stáhne do hlubiny. Na to vám můžu klidně přísahat. Surový, špinavý a temný old school death metal! Děsiví démoni čekají u posledního soudu na vaši prokletou duši!

The band, hailing from San Jose, California, has clear and distinct Chinese roots. So you can find plenty of references to Taiwanese folklore in the lyrics. You can cross over to the other side, to the land of endless shadows, in many ways. The one chosen by this old school death metal pack is very believable, raw, dark and wild. Just like their music, which has many shades of black. Definitely read the lyrics, they are really worth it. You'll meet photographers in them who have actually taken pictures of old people dying. There's a lot of bleak emotions dripping from the songs. It adds even more pressure to the record.
The music of these darkies is fundamentally influenced by packs like GRAVE, DISMEMBER, ENTOMBED, BOLT THROWER, ENTRAILS, WOMBBATH, TERRORIZER, NAPALM DEATH, BRUTAL TRUTH, REPULSION. But that's not so important. The main thing is the way and the way the band from beyond the grave attacks us. RIPPED TO SHREDS are fully committed to the basic ideas of death metal since their beginnings and they do it very convincingly. Proof of this is the previous review and interview linked below today's article. The new one seems to me again an order of magnitude more raw, darker. The music here really breaks bones in the body. Imagine an old morgue where bodies are waiting to be buried. It is the time between our world and the other world, between light and darkness, between rotting alive and the cold earth, in which the album "Sanshi" stands out the most. In short, if you worship 90s underground music without fail and can appreciate the smell of decomposing corpses, then don't hesitate a moment. It's mostly played here for you, and for all the demons, the damned, the fans of burying themselves in the ground. I searched in vain for something to criticize the album. It's actually simple, I couldn't find anything. On the contrary, from beginning to end I'm pinned to the wall and cut to pieces. A new record sweeps you away, destroys you, drags you down into the depths. I can swear to you on that. Raw, dirty and dark old school death metal! Mrtvolný zápach rozkládajících se těl. Další a další odkryté hroby, vydávající děsivá svědectví. Pohřebiště za domem, temná místnost ve sklepě, mučení, bolest, utrpení. Nikdo nic netušil. Dlouhé roky si všichni mysleli, že je tenhle chlápek milý, hodný, má dobrou práci a stará se o svoji rodinu. Měl akorát temné tajemství. V noci se probouzel a stával se lovcem, krvelačnou bestií.
Ohledáváme místo činu a k tomu posloucháme nové album COFFIN ROT z Oregonu. Téhle smečce jsme se již jednou na našich stránkách věnovali. Opět se jedná o surový, plesnivý, temný death metal, který se kdysi hrával na hřbitovech. Pánové exhumovali to nejlepší, co lze v tomto stylu nalézt, opatřili to skvělým masivním a ostrým zvukem (Damian Herring - mixing, mastering). Navíc dodali velkou spoustu svých nápadů. Další rakev byla otevřena!
Jako bych otevřel staré rezavé dveře do plesnivé hrobky. Na kamenné desce leží mumifikovaná těla prokletých a v sepnutých rukách drží tohle album. Hraje se tu ostře, nekompromisně, ale nezapomíná se ani na chladné a mokvající melodie. Pokud máte rádi kapely jako ASPHYX, OBITUARY, PESTILENCE, GRAVE, CARCASS, INCANTATION, MORTA SKULD, GOREFEST, SADISTIC INTENT, nová deska "Dreams of the Disturbed" by se vám mohla také líbit. Rozhodně doporučuji poslouchat v naprosté tmě, nejlépe s výhledem na hřbitov. Skladby se mi postupně dostávaly do krve a vůbec mi nevadilo, že všechno zde již dávno bylo. Vždy záleží na tom, jak kapela k hudbě přistupuje. A COFFIN ROT jsou uvěřitelní, opravdoví, zadřou se vám pod kůži. Pro nás, staré hrobníky, je nová nahrávka doslova povinností. Zapomenout nesmím ani na velmi povedený obal, pod kterým je podepsán Wyrmwalk (určitě se na jeho práci podívejte, rozhodně stojí za to). Poslouchat tohle album je jako se procházet mezi hroby a číst si jména na náhrobcích. Stačí několik tónů, několik dalších riffů, aby se mrtvoly probudily a začaly se mstít za všechno zlo, které jim bylo způsobeno. Z dávno opuštěných kobek se ozývá děsivý řev. Je na čase pustit bestii ven a přidat pořádně hlasitost. Mrtvolný zápach rozkládajících se těl. Další a další odkryté hroby, vydávající děsivá svědectví. We're searching the crime scene and listening to the new COFFIN ROT album from Oregon. We've covered this pack once before in our pages. Once again, it's the raw, moldy, dark death metal that used to be played in graveyards. The gentlemen have exhumed the best that can be found in this style, provided it with a great massive and sharp sound (Damian Herring - mixing, mastering). Plus they added a great deal of their own ideas. Another coffin has been opened!
It's like opening a rusty old door to a moldy tomb. On a stone slab lie the mummified bodies of the damned, holding this album in their clasped hands. The playing here is crisp, uncompromising, but the cool, dripping melodies are not forgotten. If you like bands like ASPHYX, OBITUARY, PESTILENCE, GRAVE, CARCASS, INCANTATION, MORTA SKULD, GOREFEST, SADISTIC INTENT, you might also like the new album "Dreams of the Disturbed". I definitely recommend listening in complete darkness, preferably overlooking a cemetery. The songs gradually got into my blood and I didn't mind at all that everything was already there. It always depends on how the band approaches the music. And COFFIN ROT are believable, real, they get under your skin. For us old gravediggers, a new record is literally a must. Not to forget the very hilarious cover artwork, signed by Wyrmwalk (be sure to check out his work, definitely worth a look). Listening to this album is like walking among the graves and reading the names on the tombstones. All it takes is a few notes, a few more riffs for the corpses to wake up and start taking revenge for all the evil that has been done to them. From the long-abandoned dungeons, a terrifying roar echoes. It's time to let the beast out and turn up the volume. The dead smell of decomposing bodies. Recenze/review - COFFIN ROT - A Monument to the Dead (2019):
Ave HAR! On August 23rd, 2024 you released your first full-length album "Cursed Creation" on Dark Descent Records. As the title suggests, it is a blast of honest black metal, death metal. When you left the studio, what were your feelings? Please introduce the fans a little bit to the new album.
D.A: We felt a great relief finishing with the recording process. This Album was in the making for a couple of years including many obstacles due to the Corona pandemic and the fact that we all lived very far away from each other at that time.
The Album is the ugliest and most brutal output of the band to date. It is a result of the band’s exploration over the years with its sound and approach to extreme metal. Be sure it wont stop here!
You're a band made up of all experienced musicians who play mostly death metal. How did HAR come into being? I'm guessing a good pub and a lot of beer. Who first came up with the idea to play death/black metal?
The band was initially formed by O.S and a mutual friend, Shaul, with the intention to play raw black metal. they then brought along A.M for the drums and finally D.A. as a second guitar. Shaul departed the band in favor of studies abroad which affected the group dynamic and the initial vision of the band heading more into the realms of death metal.
I admit that your novelty got me on my ass. What I really like about you guys is that you are not only orthodox and real, but you don't forget about cold and dark melodies. Who is the author of the music and how do you compose and create new HAR songs?
The process revolves alot around D.A’s guitar riffs and initial song structures while A.M drumming style and artistic input is a big factor in the final structure. Lyrics are usually a group effort.
What really caught my attention on the new album was the very raw and "dusty" sound. Where did you record the album, mix it, who is signed under production?
It was all recorded in our rehearsal space in Berlin. Drums were tracked by a friend and sound engineer Alex Pusch (Obscuredbyevil productions) While all the rest was recorded by us. Mix and master was done by our mate and x-live member Tom Cohen@Forneus studios. We were definitly aiming at having it sound violent yet still intelligable. We are quite happy with the result.
I was also intrigued by the album cover. If I understand correctly, there's a demon on it. The cover is simple, a bit mysterious, but it fits the music perfectly. What is this theme supposed to represent? It's by Tim Grieco. How did you guys get together and why him?
Tim did the cover to our previous release, the ‘Anti-Shechina’ demo tape. We felt it will be the right thing to continue with him and take it up a notch. I initially approached him by email inquiring about artwork and there was good overall artistic dialogue.
The cover is abstract, there isnt any of the usual imagery typical to metal that guided us and Tim. We were seeking to express visually the music in textures. It had to feel violent and raw and I believe Tim’s work is right on. It is very multilayered and can definitley work out the imagination when diving into it.
As a band, your lyrics deal with dark fantasy, mysticism, necromancy, death. What are they about on the new record? What is the main theme and idea behind "Cursed Creation"?
Just as with the visuals the lyrics got away from the usual metal themes, especially from the esoteric and the mystical. Now the theme is just pure violence and chaos as it is expressed in natural cycles of destruction and creation or in the human psych.
I can't help but ask. You play a style of metal that is extreme. You live in Israel. How are black death metal bands perceived by the general public? Do you have any problems with that? Do you get space on TV, in the newspaper? How is life in your country influenced by religion in general?
We actually dont live in Israel. Me and A.M live in Germany for a rew years already while O.S is just moving to U.S.A. In Israel you wont get banned for this kind of music or for anti religious activity like it is in Iran or Irak. more chances you will be marked and ‘cancelled’ in social media if you speak exclusively against Israel and its policies. Israel turned Judaism into a nationality so every cultural aspect dictated by the state and the education system is colored by it. The national holidays, the marriage/divorce system (you cant do it non-religiously in Israel), the food regulations and on and on. It is a type of ethno-theocracy for sure and it really shapes the character of the israelis more and more. Not a pretty sight. Fuck this place.
HAR have only been on the scene for a while. How far do you want to go? Big festivals, long tours? Are you just a project or a regular band that will work in a classical way? After all, each of you have a lot of commitments in other bands.
We want to play as much as we can and as long as it would allow us. We arent in our twenties anymore and the fire is still burning.
Looking back in history, how do you see the differences between now and your beginnings (as musicians)? Everything has changed - technology, sound, recording studios, we have the internet, downloading music. How have these changes affected the way the band operates? Have you had to adapt a lot?
We are not that old! But the availability of decent recording and mixing technology for affordable prices had definitley helped us to be more independent in the recording and mixing process and allowing for greater artistic freedom (not being dependent on a hired studio and with time constrains). But of course this is a double edged sword, so when people dont have any limitations anymore and everything is possible there is a risk of losing creativity and becoming slaves to the technology with the result that music sound too artificial, clean and tight and musicaly just boring. There is no edge to it.
How are you doing with gigs? Do you like to play and play often? And are you more comfortable with big festivals or small clubs? What about promoting the new album, are you planning a tour?
As I said, currently we want to play as much as possible and promote our album. We dont have alot of experience with big stages but definitely looking forward to such opportunity.
How is it actually playing extreme metal in Israel? What were your beginnings like? Did you go to a music school somewhere? What kind of role models did you have? What about the first gig? And the first performance on stage?
In Israel the scene is very small when it comes to the type of metal we like. It is basically a few bands where the members are all friends more or less and play in all of them. Lately it changed as some left the country so it got even smaller. No music school. I studied classical music at a young age but it didnt last long. The rest are all self taught andthe interest in extreme music came from the social circles we use to be part of. Can't remember my first gig, probably some local punk or metal show. We played our first gig in 2014 I believe after our first ep was out.
Lately, I feel that when it comes to extreme styles, it's really alive in Israel. Especially death and black metal bands are great! I've been coming to review new records, doing interviews and I feel that your scene is very strong (I'm a big fan of ARALL, DEATHSIEGE). But that's my perspective as a person who lives outside Israel. What is your opinion? What about concerts, promoters, clubs, extreme metal music shops?
As I said, the number of good metal bands in my opinion only got smaller. On the other hand there are one or two new promoters who try to bring to Israel some more interesting metal acts. Deathsiege is the project of our drummer A.M together with our mate from the band Supremacist that I really recommend. As I said we dont live in Israel anymore and I have to say we dont see ourselves as representatives of this place.
What are HAR planning in the next few months? Do you have anything to say to fans, promoters? Here is the space.

Ave HAR! 23. srpna 2024 vám vyšlo u Dark Descent Records vaše první dlouhohrající album „Cursed Creation“. Jak už sám název napovídá, jedná se o smršť poctivého blacku, death metalu. Když jste šli ze studia, jaké jste měli pocity? Představ prosím fanouškům trošku nové album.
D.A: Pociťovali jsme velkou úlevu, když jsme dokončili nahrávání. Toto album vznikalo několik let, včetně mnoha překážek kvůli pandemii Corony a skutečnosti, že jsme v té době všichni žili velmi daleko od sebe.
Album je nejošklivějším a nejbrutálnějším dosavadním počinem kapely. Je výsledkem dlouholetého zkoumání kapely, co se týče jejího zvuku a přístupu k extrémnímu metalu. Buďte si jisti, že tady to neskončí!
Jste kapela, složená ze samých zkušených muzikantů, kteří hrají převážně death metal. Jak vlastně vznikli HAR? Tipuji si nějakou dobrou hospodu a spoustu piva. Kdo přišel jako první s nápadem hrát death/black metal?
Kapelu původně založil O.S. se společným kamarádem Shaurem se záměrem hrát syrový black metal. Poté přibrali A.M. na bicí a nakonec D.A. jako druhého kytaristu. Shaul z kapely odešel kvůli studiu v zahraničí, což ovlivnilo dynamiku skupiny a původní vizi kapely směřující spíše do sfér death metalu.
Přiznám se, že mě vaše novinka posadila na zadek. Mně se na vás hrozně líbí, že jste nejen ortodoxní a opravdoví, ale nezapomínáte ani na studené a temné melodie. Kdo je autorem hudby a jak skládají a tvoří nové skladby HAR?
Celý proces se točí kolem kytarových riffů D.A a počátečních struktur písní, zatímco A.M bubnuje a jeho umělecký přínos je velkým faktorem pro konečnou strukturu. Texty jsou obvykle společným dílem.
Na novince mě zaujal opravdu hodně syrový a „prašivý“ zvuk. Kde jste desku nahrávali, mixovali, kdo je podepsán pod produkcí?
Vše bylo nahráno v naší zkušebně v Berlíně. Bicí trackoval kamarád a zvukař Alex Pusch (Obscuredbyevil productions), zatímco vše ostatní jsme nahráli my. Mix a master dělal náš kamarád a člen x-live Tom Cohen@Forneus studios. Rozhodně jsme se snažili, aby to znělo násilně, ale přitom srozumitelně. S výsledkem jsme docela spokojení.
Zaujal mě i obal desky. Jestli to dobře chápu, tak je na něm démon. Cover je jednoduchý, trošku tajemný, ale perfektně se hodí k hudbě. Co má tento námět vyjadřovat? Autorem je Tim Grieco. Jak jste se dali dohromady a proč právě on?
Tim udělal obal naší předchozí nahrávky, demokazety 'Anti-Shechina'. Cítili jsme, že bude správné s ním pokračovat a posunout se o stupeň výš. Původně jsem ho oslovil e-mailem s dotazem na výtvarné zpracování a celkově došlo k dobrému uměleckému dialogu.
Obal je abstraktní, není na něm žádné obvyklé vyobrazení typické pro metal, kterým jsme se s Timem řídili. Snažili jsme se vizuálně vyjádřit hudbu v texturách. Mělo to působit násilně a syrově a věřím, že Timova práce je na místě. Je velmi mnohovrstevnatá a při ponoření se do ní může rozhodně pracovat představivost.
Jako kapela se ve svých textech zaobíráte temnou fantazií, mysticismem, nekromancií, smrtí. O čem jsou na nové nahrávce? Jaké je hlavní téma a myšlenka „Cursed Creation“?
Stejně jako vizuální stránka se i texty vzdálily od obvyklých metalových témat, zejména od esoteriky a mystiky. Nyní je tématem jen čisté násilí a chaos, jak se projevuje v přírodních cyklech destrukce a kreace nebo v lidské psychice.
Nedá mi to a musím se zeptat. Hrajete metalový styl, který je extrémní. Žijete v Izraeli. Jak jsou black death metalové metalové kapely vnímány běžnou veřejností? Nemáte s tím nějaké problémy? Dostanete prostor třeba v televizi, v novinách? Jak je vůbec život ve vaší zemi ovlivněn náboženstvími?
V Izraeli vlastně nežijeme. Já a A.M. žijeme už několik let v Německu, zatímco O.S. se právě stěhuje do USA. v Izraeli vás nezakážou za tento druh hudby nebo za protináboženskou činnost, jako je tomu v Íránu nebo Iráku. Je větší šance, že vás označí a „zruší“ na sociálních sítích, pokud budete mluvit výhradně proti Izraeli a jeho politice. Izrael udělal z judaismu národnost, takže každý kulturní aspekt diktovaný státem a vzdělávací systém je jím podbarven. Státní svátky, systém sňatků/rozvodů (v Izraeli je nemůžete uzavřít nenábožensky), předpisy o jídle a tak dále a tak dále. Je to určitý druh etno-teokracie a skutečně to stále více formuje charakter Izraelců. Není to hezký pohled. Ať jde tohle místo do prdele.
HAR jsou na scéně teprve chvíli. Jak daleko chcete zajít? Velké festivaly, dlouhá turné? Jste jen projekt, nebo regulérní kapela, která bude fungovat klasicky? Přece jen má každý z vás spoustu závazků v jiných kapelách.
Chceme hrát co nejvíc a tak dlouho, jak nám to dovolí. Už nám není dvacet a oheň stále hoří.
Když se podíváme do historie, jak vnímáte rozdíly mezi současností a vašimi začátky (jako muzikanti)? Změnilo se všechno – technologie, zvuk, nahrávací studia, máme internet, stahování hudby. Jak se tyto změny promítly do fungování kapely? Museli jste se hodně přizpůsobit?
Nejsme tak staří! Ale dostupnost slušné nahrávací a mixážní techniky za přijatelné ceny nám rozhodně pomohla k větší nezávislosti v procesu nahrávání a mixování a umožnila nám větší uměleckou svobodu (nejsme závislí na najatém studiu a nemáme omezený čas). Ale to je samozřejmě dvousečná zbraň, takže když už lidé nemají žádná omezení a všechno je možné, hrozí, že ztratí kreativitu a stanou se otroky technologie, což má za následek, že hudba zní příliš uměle, čistě a sevřeně a hudebně prostě nudně. Nemá to žádný říz.
Jak jste na tom s koncerty? Hrajete rádi a často? A vyhovují vám více velké festivaly nebo malé kluby? A co propagace nového alba, nechystáte turné?
Jak jsem řekl, v současné době chceme co nejvíce hrát a propagovat naše album. Nemáme moc zkušeností s velkými pódii, ale rozhodně se na takovou příležitost těšíme.
Jaké to je vlastně hrát extrémní metal v Izraeli? Jaké byly tvoje začátky? Chodil si třeba někam do hudební školy? Jaké si měl vzory? Co první koncert? A první vystoupení na pódiu?
V Izraeli je scéna velmi malá, co se týče typu metalu, který se nám líbí. Je to v podstatě pár kapel, kde jsou všichni členové víceméně kamarádi a hrají ve všech. V poslední době se to změnilo, protože někteří odešli ze země, takže se to ještě zmenšilo. Žádná hudební škola. V mládí jsem studoval klasickou hudbu, ale dlouho mi to nevydrželo. Zbytek jsme všichni samouci a zájem o extrémní hudbu vycházel ze společenských kruhů, kterých jsme bývali součástí. Už si nepamatuju svůj první koncert, asi nějaká místní punková nebo metalová show. První koncert jsme odehráli tuším v roce 2014 po vydání našeho prvního EP.
Mám poslední dobou pocit, že co se týká extrémních stylů, tak to u vás v Izraeli opravdu žije. Obzvlášť death a black metalové kapely jsou skvělé! Chodí mi na recenzi nové desky, dělám rozhovory a mám pocit, že je vaše scéna velmi silná (jsem velkým fanouškem ARALLU, DEATHSIEGE). To je ale můj pohled člověka, který žije mimo Izrael. Jaký je váš názor? Co třeba koncerty, promotéři, kluby, obchody s extrémní metalovou hudbou?
Jak jsem řekl, počet dobrých metalových kapel se podle mého názoru jen zmenšil. Na druhou stranu se objevil jeden nebo dva noví promotéři, kteří se snaží do Izraele přivézt nějaké zajímavější metalové kapely. Deathsiege je projekt našeho bubeníka A.M společně s naším kamarádem z kapely Supremacist, který opravdu doporučuji. Jak už jsem řekl, v Izraeli už nežijeme a musím říct, že se nevnímáme jako zástupci tohoto místa.
Co chystají HAR v nejbližších měsících? Máš něco na srdci, co bys chtěl vzkázat fanouškům, promotérům? Zde je prostor.
Do konce roku nás čeká ještě několik koncertů v Německu, sledujte naši stránku pro více informací. Plánujeme také napsat nový materiál a už máme pár prvních nápadů. Díky za každého, kdo naši hudbu podpoří.
