Lidé chtějí krev, víc krve. Násilí je přitahuje jako můry světlo. Veřejné popravy, stále jsme jen trošku chytřejší zvířata. Vyhledáváme extrémy, abychom ukojili svoji touhu po lovu. Důkazem budiž i nové EP šílenců SCALPEL. Death grindová jízda s krvavým otiskem. Spousta zajímavých momentů, masivní zvuk, obal, který nenechá nikoho na pochybách. Tohle je přesně masakr podle mého gusta.
Jako když vám někdo ustřelí hlavu brokovnicí. Tak zní novinka "Century in the Boilpit". Je přesně tím druhem hudby, který vás nenechá v klidu. Budete neustále přidávat hlasitost, dívat se do tmy a ucítíte v zádech chlad. Ano, tahle nahrávka smrdí špínou a hnisem.
Pokud jste někdy byli u veřejné pitvy, asi víte o čem píšu. Poslouchat "Century in the Boilpit" je jako se dívat na vyhřezlé vnitřnosti zasažené snětí. Odkazy na DEATH, CARCASS, MORBID ANGEL lze zaslechnout, ale nijak neruší, jsou spíše inspirací, než pouhou kopií. Naopak, kapela se snaží přinést spoustu svých nápadů a nových motivů. Myslím si, že se jim to daří na výbornou. Mají svůj rukopis, jen se vám musí podobná hudba líbit. Novinku si užívám, rád se k ní vracím. Stala pro mě stínem, noční můrou, na kterou myslím, kudy chodím. Nahrávka zní navíc velmi uvěřitelně, je divoká, šílená a rozdrásá vám obličej do krve. Je to samozřejmě extrém, muzika, která jde za hranu, ale takhle to máme přeci moc rádi, ne? Poslouchám letošní EP SCALPEL s velkou chutí a připadám si, jako bych byl přímo v nějakém starém hororovém snímku. Nebo to je krutá realita? Netuším. Jistý jsem si ale s jednou věcí. Tahle smečka moc dobře ví, co chce a jde si za tím jako šelma na lovu. Je hrozně příjemné být obětí jejich hudby. Skladby se do mě zadírají jako ostrý nůž. Vylezou ze mě červi a stanu se konečně zombie. Vyhledáváme extrémy, abychom ukojili svoji touhu po lovu. Důkazem budiž i nové EP šílenců SCALPEL. If you've ever been to a public autopsy, you probably know what I'm writing about. Listening to "Century in the Boilpit" is like looking at an eviscerated intestine hit with anthrax. References to DEATH, CARCASS, MORBID ANGEL can be heard, but they don't distract in any way, they are more inspiration than mere copy. On the contrary, the band tries to bring a lot of their own ideas and new themes. I think they are doing a great job. They have their own signature, you just have to like music like this. I enjoy the new stuff, I like to come back to it. It has become a shadow for me, a nightmare that I think about where I walk. The record also sounds very believable, it's wild, crazy and will rip your face to shreds. It's extreme, of course, music that goes over the edge, but that's how we like it, isn't it? I'm listening to this year's SCALPEL EP with great gusto and I feel like I'm right in an old horror movie. Or is that a harsh reality? I have no idea. But I am sure of one thing. This pack knows exactly what it wants and it goes after it like a beast on the prowl. It's awfully nice to be a victim of their music. The songs cut into me like a sharp knife. The worms come out of me and I become a zombie at last. We seek out extremes to satisfy our desire to hunt. The new EP from the madmen SCALPEL is proof of that. Recenze/review - SCALPEL - Methods to Delusion (2017):
Jednou jsem četl o krásné mladé ženě, která svému muži dlouhé roky podávala jed. Postupně, pomalu. Dívala se jak trpí, pečovala o něj, hleděla do jeho postupně umírajících očí. Chodila i na na jeho hrob, truchlila a plakala tam. Vzpomněl jsem si na ní, když jsem poprvé slyšel nové album "We Are but Memories". Z něj je také cítit chlad i temné emoce. Hranice šílenství byly překročeny již podruhé a vy si můžete vychutnat šedivou, melancholickou náladu.
O PALE KING jsem již jednou psal (odkaz na recenzi předchozí nahrávky "Monolith Of The Malign" (2017) je dole pod článkem). Pánové a dáma pokračují ve své morbidní práci. Zahalí vás do černé, husté mlhy a přenesou na tichý hřbitov. Přidejte hlasitost a poslouchejte pozorně!
Jako bych se díval na dlouhé stíny toulající se močálem. Také cítíte ten chlad? Může za to mrazivý zvuk, démonický obal, ale hlavně nápady, kterých je na albu velké množství. Tvorba PALE KING je ovlivněna kapelami jako AMORPHIS, UNLEASHED, ROTTING CHRIST, SAMAEL, OPETH, AMON AMARTH. Vše je postaveno na melodiích. Ty vám proniknou pomalu do žil. Jako jed. Nahrávka chce čas, musí uzrát. Rozhodně nemusí zaujmout na poprvé ani na podruhé. Osobně se mi nejvíc osvědčil poslech v temné místnosti nebo při dlouhých procházkách podzimní přírodou. Album má v sobě zvláštní neklid, který se těžko popisuje, ale o to víc je přitažlivý. Je pro mě hrozně příjemné se toulat světem, uzavřený jenom v hudbě. "We Are but Memories" a padající listí. Zmrzlá cesta, šerosvit, hororová atmosféra. Tichý lesní hřbitov. Na jednom náhrobku je napsáno PALE KING. Dívám se do tmy a pod nohama mi křupou staré kosti. Tahle hudba je o smutných emocích, o dlouhých stínech, o strachu i naději, o dlouhém umírání. Máte jen dvě možnosti. Buď si ji pořádně užít a nebo jít pryč. Nic jiného neexistuje. Pokud si někdy připadáte osamocení uprostřed davu, asi víte, o čem píšu. Další slova jsou myslím zbytečná. Lepší je poslouchat. Mlhavý, krvavý death metalový přízrak!

I once read about a beautiful young woman who had been giving her husband poison for years. Gradually, slowly. Watching him suffer, caring for him, looking into his gradually dying eyes. She even went to his grave, mourned and wept there. I thought of her when I first heard the new album "We Are but Memories". It also reeks of coldness and dark emotions. The boundaries of madness have been crossed for the second time and you can enjoy the grey, melancholic mood.
I have already written about PALE KING once before (the link to the review of the previous release "Monolith Of The Malign" (2017) is at the bottom of the article). The lords and ladies continue their morbid work. They envelop you in a black, thick fog and transport you to a silent graveyard. Turn up the volume and listen closely!
It's like looking at long shadows wandering through a swamp. Do you feel the chill, too? It's because of the chilling sound, the demonic cover, but mostly the ideas, which are in abundance on the album. PALE KING's work is influenced by bands like AMORPHIS, UNLEASHED, ROTTING CHRIST, SAMAEL, OPETH, AMON AMARTH. They will slowly penetrate your veins. Like poison. A record takes time to mature. It definitely doesn't have to impress the first time or the second time. Personally, I found it most useful to listen to it in a dark room or on long walks in the autumn countryside. The album has a strange restlessness about it that is hard to describe, but all the more appealing for that. I find it terribly pleasant to wander the world, enclosed only in music. "We Are but Memories" and falling leaves. Frozen road, twilight, horror atmosphere. A silent forest graveyard. On one tombstone it says PALE KING. I look out into the darkness and old bones crunch under my feet. This music is about sad emotions, about long shadows, about fear and hope, about long dying. You only have two choices. Either enjoy it thoroughly or walk away. There's no other way. If you ever feel alone in the middle of a crowd, you probably know what I'm writing about. I think more words are unnecessary. Better to listen. A misty, bloody death metal phantom!
Recenze/review - PALE KING - Monolith Of The Malign (2017):
Vystoupil ze stínu a měl ve tváři zlo. Démon z děsivých nočních snů. Ďábel temnoty. Má mnoho podob, stejně jako extrémní hudba. Vždy jsem vyhledával hlavně kapely, které nezapomínaly na chladné melodie, na atmosféru plnou vzteku, špíny, mrazu a beznaděje. SACRILEGION jsou ze Spojených států a na cestu plnou bolesti se vydali poprvé v roce 2018. Letos nám předkládají své první dlouhohrající album. Řeže mě ihned, od prvního okamžiku.
Pánové hrají postaru, se vztekem v riffech, se silou a nadšením, které k této hudbě patří, jako dřevěná rakev k mrtvému. Vítejte v dávno opuštěném chrámu, ve kterém se uctívají staré, lety ověřené postupy. Zvuk je morbidní a obal představuje ďábla v jeho šílené podobě. Pokud máte rádi smrtící kov, který žhne a pálí a zároveň u něj umrznete, tak neváhejte ani chvilku.
Debutové album "From Which Nightmares Crawl" je určeno všem fanouškům třeba takových MORBID ANGEL, BOLT THROWER. Ve skladbách se potkává brutalita a syrovost s melodiemi. Songy zní velmi uvěřitelně, dobře se pamatují a je radost se k nim vracet. Kapela má svůj rukopis, vlastní výraz a to se v dnešní době počítá. Nahrávku řadím rozhodně k tomu nejlepšímu, co jsem měl možnost v roce 2022 slyšet. Procházím se tmou, nekonečnými chodbami podsvětí. Ze stěn okapává hnis a řev ze záhrobí je mým průvodcem. Světlo jsem již neviděl několik dní, poslouchám totiž SACRILEGION. Smečku, která je pro mě velkým překvapením. Nečekal jsem vůbec nic, myslel jsem si, že ji zařadím po bok stovky jiných retro skupin, ale není tomu tak. Pánové totiž umí napsat skvělé motivy. Jsou to muzikanti s darem od samotného Satana. Mám rád, když se mohu toulat opuštěným městem. Uprostřed noci, kdy jsou stíny dlouhé a lampy jenom poblikávají. Američané nahráli desku, která ve mě opravdu probouzí černé a šílené noční můry. Jsou jako sen, který se neustále vrací. Je plný zkažené krve, nářku a bolesti. Přesně v této podobě mám smrtící kov nejraději. Pokud to máte nastavené jako já, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete pořádnou porci syrového, zkaženého masa. Podáváno bude na víku od rakve. Stačí jen ochutnat a přidat pořádně hlasitost. Nechte na sebe působit tuhle krutou muziku. Nejlépe potmě, o samotě nebo poblíž hřbitova. Hrobka s nápisem SACRILEGION vydala skvělé poselství. Budete navěky prokleti! Amen! Temné, mrazivé death metalové ozvěny z onoho světa!

He stepped out of the shadows and had an evil look on his face. A demon from a terrifying nightmare. The devil of darkness. It takes many forms, like extreme music. I've always looked for bands that don't forget the cold melodies, the atmosphere full of anger, dirt, coldness and hopelessness. SACRILEGION are from the United States and first embarked on a journey full of pain in 2018. This year they present us with their first full-length album. It cut me immediately, from the very first moment.
The gents play in an old-fashioned way, with rage in the riffs, with the power and enthusiasm that belongs to this music, like a wooden coffin to the dead. Welcome to a long-abandoned temple where old, time-honoured practices are worshipped. The sound is morbid and the cover represents the devil in his mad form. If you like deadly metal that glows and burns while you freeze to death, don't hesitate a moment.
The debut album "From Which Nightmares Crawl" is intended for all fans of such bands as MORBID ANGEL, BOLT THROWER. In the songs brutality and rawness meets melodies. The songs sound very believable, they are easy to remember and a pleasure to come back to. The band has its own signature, its own expression and that counts nowadays. I definitely rank the recording as one of the best I've had the opportunity to hear in 2022. I walk through the dark, endless corridors of the underworld. Pus dripping from the walls and the roar from beyond is my guide. I haven't seen a light for days, I'm listening to SACRILEGION. A pack that comes as a great surprise to me. I wasn't expecting anything, I thought I'd put it alongside hundreds of other retro bands, but it's not so. The gentlemen know how to write great themes. They are musicians with a gift from Satan himself. I love being able to wander through a deserted city. In the middle of the night, when the shadows are long and the lamps only flicker. The Americans have made a record that really brings out the black and crazy nightmares in me. They're like a dream that keeps coming back. It's full of bad blood, wailing and pain. That's the kind of death metal I like best. If you're set like me, don't hesitate a moment. You're gonna get a good helping of raw, rotten meat. Served on a coffin lid. All you have to do is taste it and turn up the volume. Let this cruel music affect you. Preferably in the dark, alone or near a cemetery. The tomb with the inscription SACRILEGION sends a great message. You will be damned forever! Amen! Dark, freezing death metal echoes from the other world!

Mám rád, když mi u muziky praskají všechny kosti v těle. Líbí se mi, když se mi začne vařit krev v žilách. Jakoby mi někdo vystřelil mozek z hlavy, když poslouchám demonahrávku francouzských VAYRON. Poctivý smrtící kov, se spoustou melodií a takovou tou plesnivou patinou, kterou mám u tohoto stylu tolik rád. Pořád mě baví navštěvovat staré katakomby a objevovat nové kapely.
Nahrávka má velmi dobrý zvuk, líbí se mi i obal. Hlavní jsou ale nápady, kterých je ve skladbách velké množství. Žhnou a pálí a zároveň vás ochladí na bod mrazu. Otevírám dveře do dávno opuštěné kobky s nápisem VAYRON a poslouchám velmi pečlivě. Rakev je otevřena!
Pokud bychom hledali kapely, u kterých se Francouzi inspirovali, museli bychom zmínit smečky jako CANNIBAL CORPSE, PESTILENCE, DEICIDE, MASSACRE, MORBID ANGEL a spoustu dalších, které vládly světu v devadesátých letech. Pánové navíc přidávají velké množství vlastních nápadů. Drží se stylu, nevydávají se do neznámých cest, ale demo není jen dobrým řemeslem. V jednotlivých skladbách nalezneme spoustu zkažené krve. Připadám si, jako na návštěvě archívu, ve kterém leží starodávné spisy. Jedním z nich je i Kniha smrti, ze které VAYRON citují. A dělají to s elegancí zkušených muzikantů. Mezi prsty prosévám prach předků a chodbami se toulají přízraky. Kapela je jako démoni ze dávných časů, jako bestie, která se po letech probudila. Chtějí nás zabít svoji hudbou, pohřbít nás zaživa. Upálit všechny hříšníky! Jsem moc rád, že mi přišlo "Demo 2022" na recenzi. Muziku si neskutečně užívám a rád se k ní vracím. Troufám si tvrdit, že nás v budoucnu čekají skvělá alba. Chci dlouhohrající desku! Hned teď! Tohle je přesně underground podle mého gusta. Smrtící kov pro všechny milovníky shnilého masa, pro gurmány, co rádi tráví svůj čas v temnotě. Jako když navštívíte márnici a strávíte s mrtvými a touhle deskou celou noc. Také cítíte ten chlad a tmu? Absolutní inferno! Syrový death metal z opuštěných pohřebišť!

I love it when music makes every bone in my body crack. I like it when the blood starts boiling in my veins. It's like someone blew my brains out listening to a VAYRON demo. Honest killer metal, with lots of melody and that moldy patina I love so much about this style. I still enjoy visiting old catacombs and discovering new bands.
The record has a very good sound, I like the cover too. But the main thing is the ideas, of which there are a lot in the songs. They burn and scorch and at the same time cool you down. I open the door to the long abandoned dungeon with the VAYRON sign and listen very carefully. The coffin is open!
If we were looking for bands that the French were inspired by, we would have to mention bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, PESTILENCE, DEICIDE, MASSACRE, MORBID ANGEL and many others that ruled the world in the 90s. In addition, the gentlemen add a large number of their own ideas. They stick to the style, they don't venture into unknown paths, but the demo is not just good craftsmanship. There's plenty of bad blood to be found in the individual tracks. I feel like I'm visiting an archive where ancient writings lie. One of them is the Book of Death, from which VAYRON quote. And they do it with the elegance of seasoned musicians. I sift the dust of ancestors between my fingers and ghosts wander the corridors. The band is like demons from long ago, like a beast that has awakened after all these years. They want to kill us with their music, bury us alive. Burn all the sinners! I'm so glad I received "Demo 2022" for review. I enjoy the music immensely and love coming back to it. I dare say we're in for some great albums in the future. I want a long-playing album! Right now! This is exactly my kind of underground. Death metal for all lovers of rotten meat, for gourmets who like to spend their time in the dark. Na staré pohřebiště kousek za městem chodím hodně často. Je mi tu v temnotě velmi dobře. Poslouchám jen ošklivou a zlou muziku. Musí být nasáklá zkaženou krví a smrdět sírou. Většinou vyhledávám kapely, které mají kořeny v devadesátých letech minulého století. Usedám na mramorový hrob a užívám si chladné a podmanivé melodie. Tady, s novou deskou amerických PERCUSSOR je mi nejlépe.
Historie téhle smečky se začala psát v roce 1996. První album ale vzniklo až po devatenácti letech. A jedná se o šílenou smrtící lavinu opravdu prvotřídního staroškolského smrtícího kovu s thrash metalových feelingem. Démoni znovu tančí v kruhu a vyzývají temnotu, aby konečně zahalila svět do černého pláště nicoty.
Hudba PERCUSSOR je ze stejných hřbitovů, jako ta od POSSESSED, VITAL REMAINS, SOLSTICE, DECEASED, MALEVOLENT CREATION. Obsahuje v sobě stejné množství nadšení a odhodlání. Vnitřního pnutí a síly, které se dle mého nedá naučit. Muzikanti ji musí mít v sobě. Mám rád takové smečky, protože při jejich hudbě lezou zombie z děr a děsivé noční můry se stávají realitou. Parádní je i zvuk, prašivý a plesnivý, jako ruka shnilé mrtvoly. Obal se také povedl na výbornou. Myslím si, že srdce každého milovníka starých dobrých časů a poctivé muziky bude létat v záhrobí a radovat se. Mám to takhle nastavené a k novince "Ravenous Despondency" se hrozně rád vracím. Skladby jsou jako smršť, tsunami, po které zůstává jenom spálená země. Spousta rouhání, hororové, gore nálady. Vše sedí na svých místech a riffy řežou jako čerstvě nabroušený skalpel. Hnis stéká po zdi a z katakomb se ozývají ozvěny ze záhrobí. Mrazí mě v zádech a krve by se ve mě nedořezal. Album na mě působí, jako by leželo dlouhé roky v dřevěné rakvi, pokryté pavučinami. Letos bylo exhumováno a hozeno mezi nás, obyčejné smrtelníky. Existuje jenom absolutní tma, zlo a přízraky. Doporučuji všem démonům, i milovníkům nahrubo nasekaného zla. V ulicích se válí mlha a já musím jít. Pohřebiště za městem čeká. Poslouchat budu "Ravenous Despondency", to je doufám všem jasné. Jedná se totiž o vynikající desku po všech stránkách. Oheň hoří jasným plamenem! Pravý death metal ze starých pohřebišť!

I go to the old burial ground just outside of town a lot. I'm very comfortable here in the dark. All I listen to is ugly, evil music. It must be soaked in rotten blood and smell of sulphur. I usually seek out bands that have their roots in the '90s. I sit on a marble grave and enjoy the cool and captivating melodies. Here, with the new American PERCUSSOR album, I feel best.
The history of this band began in 1996. But the first album wasn't released until nineteen years later. And it is a crazy death avalanche of really first class old school death metal with a thrash metal feel. The demons dance in circles once again, challenging the darkness to finally envelop the world in a black cloak of nothingness.
PERCUSSOR's music is from the same graveyards as that of POSSESSED, VITAL REMAINS, SOLSTICE, DECEASED, MALEVOLENT CREATION. It contains the same amount of passion and determination. An inner drive and strength that I don't think can be taught. Musicians have to have it in them. I love these bands because when they play their music, zombies come out of holes and terrifying nightmares become reality. The sound is great too, dusty and moldy, like the hand of a rotting corpse. The cover art is also excellent. I think the heart of any lover of the good old days and honest music will fly in the beyond and rejoice. I have it set up that way and I love coming back to the new release "Ravenous Despondency". The songs are like a whirlwind, a tsunami that leaves only scorched earth. Lots of blasphemy, horror, gore mood. Everything fits into place and the riffs cut like a freshly sharpened scalpel. Pus oozes down the walls and echoes from the catacombs echo from beyond the grave. I get chills down my spine. The album strikes me as having lain for years in a wooden coffin, covered in cobwebs. This year it was exhumed and thrown among us mere mortals. There is only absolute darkness, evil and ghosts. I recommend it to all demons and lovers of rough-hewn evil. The fog rolls in the streets and I must go. The burial ground outside the city awaits. I'll be listening to "Ravenous Despondency", I hope that's clear to everyone. This is an excellent record all round. The fire is burning bright! True death metal from the old burial ground!
