Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

We are a death metal act based in Athens, Greece founded in 2011. So far we have released an EP entitled Abyssdiver and more recently our first full-length album Portraits of Mind through Redefining Darkness Records (USA) & Nuclear Winter Records (EU).

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

Recording took place at Matrix Studios in Athens. Our goal was to capture the energy of the four of us playing in the same room so all rythm tracks were recorded live. The process went out pretty smoothly and took us a weekend to eventually end up with 3-4 takes per track. Solos & vocals were recorded a few months later. Recording was done by Dimitris Mysirlis & Yannis Petroyannis. Dimitris also mixed and mastered our record through an SSL 4032 E console.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

We started with 600 CD copies and digital. The record has gone really well so far and we have already received a few proposal to press casette & vynil so we will probably press other formats too.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

Our drummer George Karamperis is the main author & the lyrics have to do with the sickness of the human mind.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?

We wanted a logo that would match the music so we asked our friend Bewild Brother to come up with an old-school version. Most of these logos were hand drawn so he followed the same practice and the result was great! All of our online media and its content is managed by us because we want to have more control over it. Although most of us don’t even have personal accounts on any social network we agreed that it’s beneficial for the band to be more active so we can reach out to a broader audience.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?

Redefining Darkness Records (USA) & Nuclear Winter Records (EU) are currently representing us. Both of them were interested so they came up with a proposal to work all together. NW Records is owned by Dead Congregation’s Anastasis Valtsanis, a band we always admired and supported, plus fact that he is locally based led us to this decision. Our collaboration with Anastasins and Thomas from Redefining Darkness Records is really good.

Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?

Death, Morbid Angel, Immolation, Sepultura, Kreator, Gorguts, Dead Congregation, Judas Priest and many more.

Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?

Yes, we did sent our press package to 40 labels. Some of them got back to us with a proposal, some just told us they were not interested and wished us good luck. Some didn’t answer at all.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

We have just played a few gigs in Greece so we don’t have any preferences, any type of gig is welcomed as long as it is properly organized. So far our favorite one would be a DIY festival that took place in an abandoned warehouse in Athens. The set up really matched the music and the energy of the audience was really good.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?

Our plan is to spread the Plague accross the world that’s why we are currently trying to reach out to festivals in Europe and the Americas. We are also working on some new songs, we do not want our next records to take us another 6 years.

How and where can your fans contact you? Can you provide some contact information?

Yes we encourage people to get in touch with us, here is how:

Thanx for the interview.

You’re welcome.
