A few questions - interview with death metal band from USA - SKULLDOZER.

Answered Jason Ramsay, thank you!

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers?

Hello this is Jason Ramsay, front man and founding member of Skulldozer.

Skulldozer is a Crushing Death Metal Band from Long Beach Mississippi.

The members are:

Jason Ramsay- Guitar/Vocals,

Keith Dobson- Lead Guitar,

Mike Spurlock- Bass

Joel Stepp- Drums

When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?

Skulldozer was founded by Jason Ramsay in 2018. The original idea for this band was under a different band name and was initially going to be a “one man” band. After a year of development and relocating, Ramsay quickly hired musicians to fill out the line up. The band name changed to Skulldozer and we started compiling new and old material to put together an album.

Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?

The recording came together at a few different studios. The drums were recorded by Charlie Hart at Death Echo Studio, the bulk of the instrument recording took place at my home studio called Crossbones Studio. The remaining 4 songs were recorded, mixed and mastered by Brown Dobson at Echo Box Media.

How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?

500 Copies of the CD are being printed and 50 cassettes so far. Hopefully there will be some vinyl to come in the future.

Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?

I write and arrange all the music and lyrics. The subject matter deals with tyranny, mind control, corruption, vengeance, death, redemption, awakening. Alot of the original ideas were spawned during the Scamdemic lockdowns when people were angry and volatile. I try to keep the lyrics relevant but still rooted in fantasy, poetic story telling. Im not interested in preaching to the audience. Instead I hope that the lyrics can be translated to connect with people on an artistic level.

Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks?

I also handle all of the art and advertising in the band. I created the logo to resemble the type of metal logo you might have seen in the 80’s of metal. I wanted the logo to be readable and strong looking like METALLICA or IRON MAIDEN. I definitely think that a legible logo is very important. Its the first thing someone associates with your brand and should visually represent what you are trying to convey to the fan.

Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label?

We signed with Guts n Blood records out of Peru for this release. We wanted to do a re-release of our EP and add more songs to make a full album. Luckily GnB Records was interested in helping us release our first full length album.

Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takes care about you? Which bands do you idolize and where do you get your inspiration?

Most of my influence comes from old school death metal and 80’s hard rock. Thats the kind of music I grew up listening to and loving. Music is always evolving but I truly feel like I learned all of the necessary building blocks for writing quality metal from the traditional metal bands.

How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?

I personally love playing festivals. The vibe, energy and crowds at festivals are the best part. I honestly love just playing music as much as possible but the festival circuit is always something we strive to be a part of.

What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band? How and where can your fans contact you?

My intention with Skulldozer is to continue writing and releasing quality death metal that will hopefully withstand the test of time and offer some sort of significance to metal music.

Can you provide some contact information? Thanx for the interview.
