Jsem zrovna na pohřbu a potkám starého hrobníka. Veze náklad plný zpuchřelých kostí. Staré hroby se musí občas exhumovat. Jsou plné špíny, hnisu a dávných vzpomínek. Jsou jako ryzí, pravý a reálný švédský death metal. Pokud jste zažili devadesátá léta minulého století v dobách největší slávy, určitě víte, o čem píšu. Ví to i Nicke Olsson a jeho věrní, kteří letos přicházejí se třetím dlouhohrajícím albem. Je opět po okraj narvané tmou, chladem i atmosférou starých pohřebišť. Z márnice je slyšet nářek nemrtvých.
Pohřeb skončí a já zůstanu na hřbitově ještě hodně dlouho potom. Nemusíme nic říkat, já i starý hrobník čekáme na tmu. Z děr vylezou zombie a připijeme si na zdraví. Tady se hraje pro nás i pro všechny přízraky. Vezmu do rukou lopatu a začnu si kopat vlastní hrob. Tohle je old school, který mě nenechá nikdy v klidu. ONE DAY IN PAIN jsou zpět a jsou silnější než kdy dřív.
Základem je typický severský zvuk, který se vám ihned dostane pod kůži. Vše je v absolutním pořádku. Jsem spokojen i s obalem, stejně mám podobné černobílé nejraději. Stále obdivuji podobné obřady, ve stylu GRAVE, ENTRAILS, NIHILIST, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER se spoustou mrazivých melodií, líbí se mi jednotlivé motivy, riffy, vokál i způsob, jakým tahle smečka dokáže navodit absolutně mrtvolnou atmosféru. Mám neodbytný pocit, že pomalu umírám, že mám v krvi kusy ledu. Nevím, jestli jste někdy byli u nějaké exhumace, ale ani nemusíte. Stačí, když si pustíte "In Pain We Trust" a budete přeneseni nejen po časové ose zpět, ale všechno zažijete. Jasně a hmatatelně. Tady se sešlo smrtící komando, které moc dobře ví co a jak chce hrát. Je to ale nejen stylově vybroušený drahokam. Ve skladbách je něco navíc, drive, síla, energie, chvění, chcete-li. Věřím kapele každý motiv, každou pasáž. Chodím ulicemi, jezdím autem, sedím ve svém pokoji a stejně jsem zároveň na dávno opuštěném hřbitově někde daleko na severu. Songy jsou velmi dobře napsány, pánové přetavili svůj talent v nahrávku, která bourá zdi a praskají u ní kosti. Pokud jste na podobné muzice vyrůstali, budete určitě spokojeni, stejně jako já, starý pes. Pravdou je, že jsem dlouhou dobu neposlouchal nic jiného. Je to jako prokletí, jako víra v posmrtný život. Neexistuje nic jiného, jenom já a tahle deska. Hergot, tohle album řeže tou správnou stranou nože! Staré hroby se musí občas exhumovat. Jsou plné špíny, hnisu a dávných vzpomínek. Old school švédský death metal, který je ukován z té nejkvalitnější oceli! Masakr v márnici!

I'm at a funeral and I meet an old undertaker. He's carrying a load of rotten bones. Old graves have to be exhumed from time to time. They're full of dirt, pus and old memories. They're like pure, true and real Swedish death metal. If you lived through the 90's in the glory days, you know what I'm writing about. Nicke Olsson and his faithful know it too, and they're coming out with their third full-length album this year. It is once again packed to the brim with darkness, cold and the atmosphere of old burial grounds. From the morgue, the cries of the undead can be heard.
The funeral is over and I'll be in the cemetery for a long time afterwards. We don't have to say anything, the old undertaker and I wait for darkness. The zombies crawl out of the holes and we drink a toast. This is a game for us and all the ghosts. I'm gonna pick up a shovel and start digging my own grave. This is the old school that never lets me rest. ONE DAY IN PAIN are back and stronger than ever.
The basis is a typical Nordic sound that immediately gets under your skin. Everything is absolutely fine. I'm happy with the cover too, I like the black and white ones best anyway. I still admire similar rituals, in the style of GRAVE, ENTRAILS, NIHILIST, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER with lots of chilling melodies, I like the individual motifs, riffs, vocals and the way this pack can create an absolutely deadpan atmosphere. I have an insistent feeling that I'm slowly dying, that I have chunks of ice in my blood. I don't know if you've ever been to an exhumation, but you don't have to. Just put on "In Pain We Trust" and you'll not only be transported back in time, but you'll experience everything. Clearly and tangibly. This is a death squad that knows exactly what it wants to play and how it wants to play it. But it's not just a stylishly polished gem. There's something extra in the songs, drive, power, energy, shiver, if you will. I trust the band with every motive, every passage. I walk the streets, I drive the car, I sit in my room, and yet I'm also in a long-abandoned cemetery somewhere far up north. The songs are very well written, the gentlemen have translated their talent into a record that breaks down walls and cracks bones. If you grew up on music like this, you'll be pleased, as will I, old dog. The truth is, I haven't listened to anything else in a long time. It's like a curse, like a belief in the afterlife. There's nothing else but me and this record. Damn, this album cuts with the right side of the knife! Old graves have to be exhumed from time to time. They're full of dirt, pus and ancient memories. Old school Swedish death metal forged from the finest steel! Massacre in the morgue!
