Vždycky mě přitahoval pach rozkládajícího se masa. Líbilo se mi už jako dítěti, když jsem našel u cesty mrtvé zvíře. Lovil jsem a preparoval další a další těla. Sbíral jsem kosti a vyrýval do nich tajné symboly. Nikdo mě nechápal, nikdo nedokázal ocenit krásu umírajících očí. Byl jsem pro všechny jenom bastardem, netvorem, zrůdou. Neustále mě zavírali a nechávali hnít zaživa v temných kobkách. Kde jsem byl já, byla i smrt. Naléhavá, hmatatelná, krutá a ošklivá.
Na tenhle hororový příběh, inspirovaný skutečnými událostmi, jsem si vzpomněl, když jsem začal poslouchat nové album francouzských maniaků RED DEAD. Již jsem s nimi měl co do činění (odkaz na recenzi minulé nahrávky naleznete dole pod článkem). Pánové morbidně pokračují tam, kde minule přestali. V prašivé, klasické a tradiční death metalové cestě. Je vám doufám jasné, že kolem leží mrtvoly v různém stádiu rozkladu.
"Paths Across the Graves" je hudba ze starých hřbitovů, z márnic, z katakomb ve kterých leží těla prokletých. Jsou pokryta pavučinami a snětí. Již minule se mi líbil přístup kapely, taková ta opravdovost, uvěřitelnost a ryzost, kterou ze skladeb cítím. Riffy v sobě mají pradávnou sílu, tlak a energii. Nevím, jestli jste někdy strávili noc v márnici, ale pokud ne, tak ani nemusíte. Zážitek z nového alba je totiž úplně stejný, podobně naléhavý, syrový a děsivý. Smrt je za každým rohem, čeká ve stínu na svojí příležitost. Povedl se zvuk, stylový obal, ale hlavně nápady, které jsou volně inspirovány kapelami typu OBITUARY, BENEDICTION, GRAVE. Francouzi nadále rozvíjejí původní myšlenky a dělají to velmi elegantně a se zkušenostmi starých mistrů. Je o mě všeobecně známo že vždy rád přijmu pozvání na podobné záhrobní obřady. Hroby jsou exhumovány s velkým nadšením a silou. Vždycky bývá zajímavé navštívit hrob nějakého zlého bastarda a ujistit se, že stále leží a hnije ve svém hrobě. Mraky jsou zase jednou nízko. Nemůžu spát a tak raději vstanu, vezmu do rukou lopatu a potom je již všem všechno jasné. Alespoň nám, starým fanouškům kovu smrti určitě. Nová nahrávka se opět povedla po všech stránkách a myslím si, že udělá dobře všem prokletým, démonům i posluchačům, co stále uctívají pohřby do země. Bylo pro mě velmi příjemné se k novince vracet, rvát si ji pod tlakem do hlavy a užívat si její chladnou a temnou atmosféru. Za mě osobně nelze jinak, než vám album doporučit. Vždycky mě přitahoval pach rozkládajícího se masa. Jestli jste na tom stejně, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Exhumace starého, shnilého prašivého hrobu! Death metal, u kterého praskají kosti i víka od rakví!

I've always been attracted to the smell of decomposing meat. I used to love it as a kid when I found a dead animal on the side of the road. I hunted and prepared more and more bodies. I collected bones and carved secret symbols into them. No one understood me, no one could appreciate the beauty of dying eyes. I was just a bastard, a monster, a freak. I was constantly locked up and left to rot alive in dark dungeons. Where I was, there was death. Immediate, palpable, cruel and ugly.
I remembered this horror story, inspired by real events, when I started listening to the new album of French maniacs RED DEAD. I had already dealt with them (the link to the review of the previous record can be found at the bottom of the article). The gentlemen morbidly pick up where they left off last time. In the dusty, classic and traditional death metal way. I hope it is clear to you that there are corpses in various stages of decomposition lying around.
"Paths Across the Graves" is music from the old cemeteries, from the morgues, from the catacombs where the bodies of the damned lie. They're covered in cobwebs and snow. I already liked the band's approach last time, such a realness, believability and purity that I feel from the songs. The riffs have an ancient power, pressure and energy to them. I don't know if you've ever spent a night in a morgue, but if you haven't, you don't have to. In fact, the experience of the new album is exactly the same, similarly urgent, raw and terrifying. Death is around every corner, waiting in the shadows for its opportunity. The sound, the stylish cover artwork, but most importantly the ideas, which are loosely inspired by bands like OBITUARY, BENEDICTION, GRAVE. The French continue to develop the original ideas and do it very elegantly and with the experience of the old masters. It is a well-known fact that I am always happy to accept invitations to similar after-grave ceremonies. The graves are exhumed with great enthusiasm and vigour. It is always interesting to visit the grave of some evil bastard and make sure he is still lying and rotting in his grave. The clouds are low once more. I can't sleep, so I better get up, pick up a shovel and then it's all clear to everyone. At least for us old death metal fans, anyway. The new record has once again succeeded on all counts and I think it will do good to all the damned, demons and listeners who still worship burial in the ground. It was very enjoyable for me to revisit the new release, ripping into it under pressure and enjoying its cool and dark atmosphere. For me personally, I can't help but recommend the album to you. I've always been drawn to the smell of decomposing flesh. If you're the same way, don't hesitate a moment. Exhumation of an old, rotten, dusty grave! Death metal that cracks bones and coffin lids!
