A největším zklamáním roku se stává...Ne vážně. Určitě znáte ten pocit, když se dlouhé roky těšíte na nové album od kapely, kterou jste kdysi dávno zbožňovali. V devadesátých letech byla tahle smečka docela úkaz. Každá nahrávka byla mezi fanoušky diskutována, oceňována a mnohými vynášena do nebes. Zaslouženě. DARK ANGEL mívali svůj vlastní rukopis a tak byla letošní novinka všemi velmi očekávána.
Jasně, doba se změnila. Vlastně, všechno je jiné. Máme internet, umělou inteligenci, muzika se už dávno nekupuje, ale streamuje. Většinou moc na podobné návraty nevěřím, i když je fakt, že spousta starých veteránů dokáže i v současné nadprodukci obstát. Kupříkladu noví CORONER znějí (zatím, co jsem slyšel) skvěle. Tak proč to nešlo u DARK ANGEL?
Ušima mi projde za měsíc spousta muziky. O té špatně se snažím nepsat, vlastně ani moc neumím kritizovat. Když mě něco nebaví, tak to zkrátka ignoruji. Jenže tentokrát je mé zklamání tak velké, že jsem se musel vyjádřit. Odpustit by možná šel motiv na obalu, který sice asi stvořila Gemini nebo Copilot, ale nápad to není špatný. O hodně horší je to se zvukem. Je takový divně zastřený, nečitelný a hlavně vůbec neřeže. Schválně jsem si počkal na originál CD, které jsem si ale jenom zapůjčil. Je to pořád průšvih. Neslyším jednotlivé nástroje. Zažil jsem už ale i horší a mimo jiné jsem vyrůstal kdysi na kazetách, takže jsem zvyklý na ledacos. Největší problém jsou ale nápady. Jsou slabé a je jich žalostně málo. Nové album kolem mě proplouvá. Znáte to, jako když kolem vás projde sice moc hezká holka, ale je nudná. Já bych opravdu hrozně moc chtěl (staré nahrávky opravdu miluji), napsat něco pozitivního. Jenže u "Extinction Level Event" se mi stalo to nejhorší, co u muziky znám. Nudím se. Irituje mě vokál, melodie a kupodivu i bicí, u kterých je mi to hodně divné, protože jak známo, tak Gene Hoglan bývá většinou za boha. DARK ANGEL možná chtěli až příliš ušetřit na těch špatných místech. Navíc nemají nápady. Schválně jsem dal nahrávce delší čas, jestli náhodou neuzraje. Nestalo se tak a já se musím pokorně vrátit k úvodní větě. A největším zklamáním roku se stává...Ano, tohle album. Zlatou malinu za nejhorší thrash metalový návrat získávají....DARK ANGEL.

In the nineties, this band was quite a phenomenon. Each record was discussed, appreciated and praised by many among the fans. Deservedly. DARK ANGEL used to have their own style, so this year's new album was highly anticipated by everyone.
Sure, times have changed. Actually, everything is different. We have the internet, artificial intelligence, music is no longer bought, but streamed. I usually don't believe in such comebacks, although it is a fact that many old veterans can survive even in the current overproduction. For example, the new CORONER sound (so far, from what I've heard) great. So why didn't DARK ANGEL do it?
A lot of music passes through my ears in a month. I try hard not to write about it, I'm not really good at criticizing. When I don't like something, I simply ignore it. But this time my disappointment is so great that I had to express myself. The cover design, which was probably created by Gemini or Copilot, could perhaps be forgiven, but the idea is not bad. The sound is much worse. It's strangely obscured, unreadable and, most importantly, it doesn't cut it at all. I deliberately waited for the original CD, which I only borrowed. It's still a mess. I can't hear individual instruments. But I've experienced worse and, among other things, I grew up on cassettes, so I'm used to a lot of things. The biggest problem, however, is the ideas. They are weak and there are sadly few of them. The new album is floating past me. You know it, like when a very pretty girl walks past you, but she's boring. I really would like to (I really love old records) write something positive. But with "Extinction Level Event" the worst thing I know about music happened to me. I'm bored. I'm irritated by the vocals, the melodies and, strangely enough, the drums, which I find very strange, because as you know, Gene Hoglan is usually a god. DARK ANGEL may have wanted to save too much on the bad parts. Moreover, they have no ideas. I deliberately gave the record more time in case it didn't mature. It didn't and I have to humbly return to the opening sentence. And the biggest disappointment of the year is... Yes, this album. The Golden Raspberry for the worst thrash metal comeback goes to... DARK ANGEL.
