Jsem spoutaný vlastním svědomím. Na kamenném oltáři, uprostřed ničeho. Neutuším, jak jsem se sem dostal, nevím, proč se nemůžu hnout. Kolem nohou se mi plazí klubka jedovatých hadů. Do těla se mi zakousl první červ? Zemřel jsem? Přemýšlím o smrti a pak mi dojde, že to už bych asi necítil bolest. Pálí mě vnitřnosti, mozek chce vyskočit z hlavy. Potom zazní první riff a já se probudím ze šílené noční můry. Muzika norského muzikanta M. L. Jupeho ve mě vždy rozjitří velkou spoustu podivných a do černo rudé zabarvených myšlenek.
Hudba je tu zvláštní, v určitých momentech neuchopitelná, těžká i vznešená zároveň. Ostrá a neklidná, upředená z pevných pavučin. Pokud máte rádi kombinaci death metalu, doomu a spousty progresivních a avantgardních vlivů, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Jen si dejte pozor na zlé noční můry.
Zrovna u FELGRAVE jsem sedával dlouhé hodiny před prázdnou stránkou a nevěděl co napsat, jak hudbu podchytit, jaká napsat slova. Pokaždé jsem raději poslouchal, jen tak se nechal unášet jednotlivými skladbami. Před hlavou se mi, jako nějaký podivný film, odehrávala spousta obrazů. Zrovna u tohoto alba mi pracuje fantazie na plné obrátky. Slyším zde odkazy na TOMB MOLD, BLOOD INCANTATION, OBLITERATION, NECROVATION, MORBUS CHRON, AUTOPSY. Samozřejmě s tím, že zazní i vzdálené vlivy ostatní stylů, různých odrůd nejen doom a death metalu. Není to zase tolik důležité, hlavní je to, jakým způsobem na vás tahle "podivná" hudba působí. Někdy, když jsem neměl náladu, tak jsem zapnul play a šel raději pryč, jindy jsem seděl několik hodin až nábožně u reproduktorů a kýval se spokojeně do rytmu. Hraje se tu z zkrátka jinak, odlišně, zajímavě, neotřele. Jedná se o album pro všechny, co rádi objevují, mají bujnou fantazii a nebojí se temných koutů. Vlastně ani po dlouhé době společných setkání s "Otherlike Darknesses" nemůžu říci, že by se mi nahrávka líbila nebo ne. Pravdou ale je, že se k ní stejně stále vracím a pokaždé usínám s obličejem rozdrásaným do krve. Je něco neklidného, možná chvílemi i nepříjemného, ostrého a divokého, co se zde ukrývá pod povrchem. M. L. Jupe na to jde zkrátka jinak, než ostatní. Někomu se to bude hodně líbit, jiný uteče zděšeně pryč. Každopádně, FELGRAVE se rozhodně nedá upřít originalita. Je jen na vás, jak se se všemi těmi motivy, náladami, i nočními můrami poperete. Osobně stále nevím, na jakou stranu se přiklonit. Ale o tom přeci dobrá hudba bývá, pokládá otázky. Avantgardní doom death metal, který rozdrásá vaši duši do krve! Budete strženi do temné hlubiny!

I am bound by my own conscience. On a stone altar in the middle of nowhere. I don't know how I got here, I don't know why I can't move. Around my feet crawl balls of venomous snakes. Did the first worm bite into my flesh? Did I die? I think about dying, and then I realize that I probably wouldn't feel pain anymore. My insides burn, my brain wants to jump out of my head. Then the first riff hits and I wake up from a crazy nightmare. The music of Norwegian musician M.L. Jupe always stirs up a lot of strange and black and red thoughts in me.
The music here is strange, elusive at times, heavy and sublime at the same time. Sharp and restless, spun from tight webs. If you like the combination of death metal, doom and a lot of progressive and avant-garde influences, don't hesitate a moment. Just beware of bad nightmares.
Just with FELGRAVE, I used to sit for long hours in front of a blank page, not knowing what to write, how to capture the music, what words to write. Each time I preferred to listen, just letting myself be carried away by the tracks. A lot of images played in front of my head, like a strange movie. This album in particular has my imagination working at full speed. I can hear references to TOMB MOLD, BLOOD INCANTATION, OBLITERATION, NECROVATION, MORBUS CHRON, AUTOPSY. Of course, there are also distant influences of other styles, different varieties of not only doom and death metal. It's not so important, the main thing is how this "strange" music affects you. Sometimes, when I wasn't in the mood, I'd turn on the play and walk away instead, other times I'd sit for hours almost religiously by the speakers, swaying contentedly to the beat. The playing here is simply different, different, interesting, novel. This is an album for those who love to explore, have a vivid imagination and are not afraid of dark corners. Actually, even after a long time together with "Otherlike Darknesses" I can't say that I like the record or not. But the truth is that I keep coming back to it anyway, and I fall asleep with my face smashed to a bloody pulp every time. There's something unsettling, maybe even uncomfortable at times, edgy and fierce hiding beneath the surface here. M.L. Jupe simply goes about it differently than the others. Some will like it a lot, others will run away in horror. Either way, FELGRAVE is certainly not without originality. It's up to you how you deal with all the themes, moods and nightmares. Personally, I still don't know which side to take. But that's what good music is all about, asking questions. Avant-garde doom death metal that will tear your soul to blood! You will be swept into the dark depths!
