Měsíc zalil svým svitem celý hřbitov. V dálce štěkají divocí psi. Cítím v kostech neklid. Beru do rukou nářadí a vydávám se na další z děsivých exhumací. Prokletý hrob padlého mnicha je umístěn bokem. Do tmy září pentagram, který někdo namaloval na náhrobek. Odkryji těžkou desku a ucítím pach hniloby. Z márnice se ozve děsivý výkřik. Nemrtví se probouzejí a mají chuť na čerstvé maso. Tuhne mi krev žilách. Ne, tohle není žádný hororový film, ale krutá realita. Poslouchám právě nové album mexických maniaků DEMONIC MANIFESTATION.

Tuhle smečku sleduji od jejich počátků. Nikdy neměla slabé album, pokaždé, a platí to i letos, řeže přímo do živého. Klasický severský death metal, chladný zvuk, pytel plný prašivých kostí. Nemusím kopat hluboko, stále tu leží, ruce sepnuté, s jedovatým výrazem na tváři. Vytáhnu jej ven. Přemýšlím nad tím, kolika lidem tenhle zlý mnich způsobil bolest. Položím ho na chladnou zem a on se na mě usměje. Peklo opravdu existuje, napadne mě a potom mi prokousne hrdlo.

Mexičané vás převedou na druhou stranu, do země nekonečných stínů a udělají to velmi elegantně a se zručností starých mistrů v oboru. Pokud máte k smrti rádi a dodnes uctíváte kapely jako GRAVE, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, NIHILIST, ENTRAILS, potom jste zde správně. To vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví. Surové rytmy se zde potkávají s mrazivými melodiemi, zabijáckými bicími a krutým vokálem. Výsledný dojem opravdu připomíná nezaměnitelnou atmosféru exhumace prokletého hrobu. Zombie znovu, jako každou noc, tančí mezi náhrobky, mraky jsou nízko, skoro se dotýkají země a Satan sedí na svém trůnu a usmívá se. Poslední roky k tomu má čím dál tím víc důvodů. Chaos reálného světa mi dává za pravdu. Raději znovu zapínám play na svém přehrávači a nechávám se unášet na zpěněných vlnách řeky Styx na druhou stranu. Platím Charonovi tímto albem a doporučuji jej všem kolem sebe. I vlastním démonům. Líbí se mi zvuk, motiv na obalu, vlastně vše. Mexičtí tmáři hrají od srdce, opravdově, upřímně a naprosto autenticky. Líbí se mi provedení, ale hlavně nápady, kterých je na nahrávce velké množství. Jasně, ocení je hlavně pravověrní, nemrtví a všichni ti, kteří kdysi propadli peklu, ale to je zde účelem. "Grimshrine" jsem si pouštěl několik týdnů vlastně skoro pořád dokola. Jedná se o album, které do mě zaseklo svůj dráp a už mě nepustilo. A teď už mě prosím omluvte, musím jít. Odkládám pivo na víko od rakve a sleduji měsíc, který zalil svým svitem celý hřbitov. V dálce štěkají divocí psi. Cítím v kostech neklid. Beru do rukou nářadí a vydávám se na další z děsivých exhumací. Prokletý hrob padlého mnicha je umístěn bokem. Starý, prašivý death metal s hnilobně krvavou atmosférou, který vás převede na druhou stranu, do země nekonečných stínů!

The moon bathes the entire cemetery in its light. Wild dogs bark in the distance. I feel a sense of unease deep in my bones. I pick up my tools and set out on yet another terrifying exhumation. The cursed grave of the fallen monk lies off to the side. A pentagram, painted by someone on the tombstone, glows in the darkness. I lift the heavy slab and smell the stench of decay. A terrifying scream echoes from the morgue. The undead are awakening and craving fresh flesh. My blood runs cold. No, this isn’t some horror movie it’s harsh reality. I’m listening to the new album by the Mexican maniacs DEMONIC MANIFESTATION.

I’ve been following this pack since their beginnings. They’ve never had a weak album; every time and this year is no exception they cut right to the bone. Classic Nordic death metal, a cold sound, a sack full of mangy bones. I don’t have to dig deep; he’s still lying there, hands clasped, a venomous expression on his face. I pull him out. I wonder how many people this evil monk has caused pain. I lay him on the cold ground, and he smiles at me. Hell really does exist, it occurs to me and then he bites through my throat.

The Mexicans will transport you to the other side, to the land of endless shadows, and they’ll do it with great elegance and the skill of old masters in the field. If you love to death and still worship bands like GRAVE, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, NIHILIST, and ENTRAILS, then you’ve come to the right place. I’ll gladly sign that with my own blood. Raw rhythms meet chilling melodies, killer drums, and brutal vocals. The overall impression truly evokes the unmistakable atmosphere of an exhumation from a cursed grave. Once again, just like every night, zombies dance among the tombstones; the clouds hang low, almost touching the ground; and Satan sits on his throne, smiling. In recent years, he’s had more and more reasons to do so. The chaos of the real world proves me right. I’d rather hit play on my player again and let myself be carried away on the foaming waves of the River Styx to the other side. I pay Charon with this album and recommend it to everyone around me even my own demons. I like the sound, the cover art actually, everything. These Mexican dark metalers play from the heart, genuinely, sincerely, and completely authentically. I like the execution, but above all the ideas, of which there are plenty on this recording. Sure, they’ll be appreciated mainly by the true believers, the undead, and all those who once fell into hell but that’s the whole point here. I’ve been playing “Grimshrine” on repeat for several weeks now pretty much nonstop. It’s an album that sank its claws into me and hasn’t let go. And now, please excuse me I have to go. I set my beer down on the coffin lid and watch the moon, which has bathed the entire cemetery in its glow. Wild dogs are barking in the distance. I feel a restlessness in my bones. I grab my tools and set out on yet another terrifying exhumation. The cursed grave of the fallen monk lies off to the side. A pentagram, painted by someone on the tombstone, glows in the darkness. Old-school, gritty death metal with a putrid, blood-soaked atmosphere that will transport you to the other side, to the land of endless shadows!
