Vytrhl mi další vnitřnosti z těla a usmál se na mě. Zavřený v chladné cele jsem čekal na smrt už několik měsíců. Chtěl jsem zemřít, i když jsem se asi jako každý bál smrti. Viděl jsem za svůj život až příliš utrpení, příliš bolesti. Byl jsem poslední z jeho obětí. Zatím. Bylo na něm vidět, že se brzy znovu vydá na lov. Hnusný predátor, krvavá bestie, která by měla shnít zaživa v pekle. Místo toho, když jej chytili, tak se z něj stala celebrita. Rozhovory, kniha i několik televizních pořadů. Oběti v dnešním světě už nikoho nezajímají.

Kdybych přežil, tak bych mu pustil přímo do ksichtu nové album amerických řezníků CAUSTIC WOUND. Nové kapely, která letos přichází se svojí druhou nahrávkou a která je složena ze členů kapel jako MORTIFERUM a CORPUS OFFAL. Nemusím snad ani dodávat, že dostanete pořádně zahnívající porci zkaženého, mokvajícího masa. 


Základem jsou silné, masivní a zcela devastující melodie. K tomu si připočtěte ostré a divoké bicí, guturální vokál a atmosféru známou ze starých jatek. Ano, inspirace k úvodu do dnešní recenze se sama nabízela. Vše je tu totiž prašivé, ohlodané na kost, smradlavé. Ale také opravdové, uvěřitelné, přesvědčivé a pro mě osobně velmi návykové. Pokud bych měl napsat nějaká jména kapel, kterými se nechali CAUSTIC WOUND volně inspirovat, musel bych zmínit smečky jako EXHUMED, EMPALED, CARCASS, PUTRID OFFAL, NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER. Pánové na to jdou ostře, nekompromisně. Pokud jste někdy našli tělo ve značném stádiu rozkladu, cítili jste jeho smrad a vnímali bolest, která se vznášela všude kolem, tak určitě víte, o čem píšu. Tohle je muzika pro opravdové fanoušky. "Grinding Mechanism of Torment" je albem, které asi nejvíc připomíná srážku s náklaďákem naloženým po okraj starými kostmi. Tahle smečka vám rozřeže ksicht do krve. A to prosím rezavými žiletkami a pěkně hluboko do masa. Pokaždé, když vidím ve zprávách něco ošklivého a zlého, čeho jsou schopni pouze lidé, mám chuť utéct pryč. A poslouchat u toho tuhle nahrávku. Samozřejmě s volume doprava na samé hraně bolesti. CAUSTIC WOUND nepřinášejí nic nového, ani převratného, ale věřím jim každý tón, každou notu. Dostali se mi pod kůži a vyřízli do ní velmi hlubokou ránu. Je vám asi jasné, po čem mi zůstalo na těle tolik jizev. Na závěr musím dodat snad jediné - pouštějte tohle album do ksichtu všem, kteří si to zaslouží. Sleze jim kůže z obličeje. Morbidní, mokvající, plesnivý death grindový masakr rezavou pilou! Budou vám vyrvány všechny vnitřnosti z těla!

He ripped more guts out of my body and smiled at me. I've been locked in a cold cell waiting to die for months. I wanted to die, even though I was probably as afraid of death as anyone. I had seen too much suffering, too much pain in my life. I was the last of his victims. For now. I could see he was about to go hunting again. A vile predator, a bloody beast that should rot alive in hell. Instead, when he was caught, he became a celebrity. Interviews, a book and several TV shows. Nobody cares about victims anymore in today's world.

If I'd survived, I'd have dropped the new American Butchers album CAUSTIC WOUND in his face. A new band, coming out with their second record this year, made up of members of bands like MORTIFERUM and CORPUS OFFAL. Needless to say, you're going to get a good portion of rotten, soggy meat.



The foundation is strong, massive and completely devastating melodies. Add to that the sharp and fierce drums, guttural vocals and the atmosphere familiar from the old slaughterhouses. Yes, the inspiration for the introduction to today's review offered itself. Everything here is dusty, gnawed to the bone, smelly. But it's also real, believable, compelling and, for me personally, very addictive. If I had to write down some names of bands that CAUSTIC WOUND were loosely inspired by, I would have to mention bands like EXHUMED, EMPALED, CARCASS, PUTRID OFFAL, NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER. Gentlemen go for it sharp, uncompromising. If you've ever found a body in a significant state of decomposition, smelled its stench and felt the pain that was floating all around, you'll know what I'm writing about. This is music for true fans. "Grinding Mechanism of Torment" is the album that probably most resembles a collision with a truck loaded to the brim with old bones. This bunch will cut your face to shreds. And please do it with rusty razor blades and deep into the flesh. Every time I see something nasty and evil on the news that only humans are capable of, I want to run away. And listen to this tape while I do it. Of course, with the volume right at the very edge of pain. CAUSTIC WOUND don't bring anything new or groundbreaking, but I trust them with every note, every note. They got under my skin and cut a very deep wound in it. You can probably see what left so many scars on my body. In conclusion, I have to add one thing - play this album in the face of everyone who deserves it. The skin is coming off their faces. A morbid, moaning, moldy death grind massacre with a rusty saw! All your guts will be ripped out of your body!

Byly to krásné časy, když se operovalo bez uspání, když se deprese léčily pomocí lobotomie. Vzpomínám na to moc rád, protože tenkrát jste mohli do pacienta s klidem pustit elektrický proud, uříznout mu nohu nebo ho pitvat zaživa. Nebyla anestezie a tak jste si mohli s chutí vychutnat veškerou bolest, kterou měl v očích. Vítejte, operatéři a patologové zároveň, HAEMORRHAGE ze Španělska jsou zpět, aby vás opět provedli temnými zákoutími lidské mysli.

Goregrind, to je to, oč tu běží. Ohlodaný na kost, syrový jako ruka mrtvoly, ostrý a nekompromisní. Mám to takhle rád. Když už si chci pustit něco v tomto stylu, tak volím tyto maniaky. Věřím jim totiž každou notu, každý tón. Užívám si mrtvolně morbidní nálady jednotlivých skladeb a dívám se do tmy. Přivezli dalšího pacienta, máte radost?


Možná jednou shniji v chladné zemi, ale ještě předtím, než se tak stane, tak budu tuhle legendu poslouchat. Stačí si prostudovat jejich krvavou historii nebo zajít na koncert, který je vždy veřejnou pitvou plnou energie a tlaku. Čtyři nové skladby, plus jeden cover od DISMEMBER, nenechají opět nikoho na pochybách. Tohle jsou králové goregrindu v jeho klasické, tradiční podobě. Nejsou to ale jenom lehké odkazy ve stylu CARCASS, GENERAL SURGERY, EXHUMED, DEAD INFECTION, IMPETIGO, MORTICIAN, ale třeba i náznaky stylových výletů do vod, které jinak ovládají třeba takoví CANNIBAL CORPSE, ABORTED, BROKEN HOPE, které dělají tuhle smečku ještě silnější, než kdy dřív. Líbí se mi zvuk, taková ta chladná nálada skladeb, známá snad jen z dávno opuštěných nemocnic. Ve zdech jsou stále otištěny výkřiky bolesti. Ve starém archívu, který najdete v plesnivém sklepě, jsou dosud důkazy o tom, jak se kdysi operovalo, jak se léčilo šílenství, deprese. Je to vlastně jednoduché, HAEMORRHAGE i letos potvrzují status legendy. Nové songy mě baví, rád se k nim vracím. Poslech je opravdu jako čtení ve starých lékařských knihách. Úplně před sebou vidím ostrou pilu, jak amputuje končetinu, jak je vrtáno do lebky. "Opera Medica" je povedeným materiálem po všech stránkách. Je povinností pro všechny fanoušky kapely i žánru, ale také důkazem, že na patologii se stále dějí podivné věci. Nezbývá mi nic jiného, než vám nové EP doporučit. Pokud se rádi procházíte nemocničními chodbami a nasáváte zkažený vzduch, neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete poctivou porci zkaženého masa. Králové goregrindových nemocničních sálů opět útočí! Ostře, divoce, nekompromisně! A zůstává po nich hluboká krvavá stopa!

It was a wonderful time when they operated without putting people to sleep, when depression was treated with lobotomies. I remember it very fondly because in those days you could easily electrocute a patient, cut off his leg or dissect him alive. There was no anaesthesia and you could enjoy all the pain in his eyes. Welcome, surgeons and pathologists at the same time, HAEMORRHAGE from Spain are back to once again guide you through the dark corners of the human mind.

Goregrind, that's what this is all about. Stabbed to the bone, raw as a corpse's hand, sharp and uncompromising. I like it that way. When I want to play something in this style, I choose these maniacs. I trust them with every note, every note. I enjoy the deadly morbid mood of each track and stare into the darkness. They brought in another patient, are you happy?


I may rot in a cold country one day, but before that happens, I'll be listening to Spanish maniacs. Just study their bloody history or go to a concert, which is always a public dissection full of energy and pressure. Four new songs, plus one cover by DISMEMBER, will leave no one in doubt again. These are the kings of goregrind in its classic, traditional form. But it's not only the light references in the style of CARCASS, GENERAL SURGERY, EXHUMED, DEAD INFECTION, IMPETIGO, MORTICIAN, but also hints of stylistic excursions into waters otherwise dominated by the likes of CANNIBAL CORPSE, ABORTED, BROKEN HOPE that make this pack even stronger than ever. I like the sound, the cold mood of the songs, known perhaps only from long abandoned hospitals. The screams of pain are still imprinted in the walls. In the old archive you find in the musty basement, there is still evidence of how they used to operate, how they used to cure madness, depression. It's actually quite simple, HAEMORRHAGE confirm their legendary status again this year. I enjoy the new songs, I like coming back to them. Listening to them is really like reading in old medical books. I can see a sharp saw in front of me, amputating a limb as it is drilled into the skull. "Opera Medica" is a hilarious piece of material in every way. It is a must for all fans of the band and the genre, but also proof that strange things still happen in pathology. I have no choice but to recommend the new EP to you. If you like to walk the hospital corridors and suck in the corrupted air, don't hesitate a moment. You'll get a fair portion of rotten meat. The kings of goregrind hospital halls strike again! Sharp, fierce, uncompromising! And they leave a deep trail of blood!

Každý, kdo někdy pitval mrtvá i živá těla, moc dobře ví, že je velmi důležité,  jakou si k naší těžké práci pouštíte muziku. Někdo uznává jenom symfonie starých klasických mistrů, jiný se nechává unášet klidnými, rozvážnými melodiemi. My, staří fanoušci prašivého death metalu a grindcore ušpiněného zkaženou krví, máme zcela jasno. Pokaždé, když vyjde nějaká nová deska od španělských patologů NASTY SURGEONS, začnu být neklidný. Dokud si ji nepustím pořádně nahlas, dokud se mi nedostane do krve i do podvědomí.

Pánové i letos pokračují ve své morbidní jízdě. Zarývají riffy do kůže, vrtají nám bicími do hlavy a drásají nám uši do krve. Opět se jedná o divoký, surový a krutý zážitek. Viděli jste někdy spokojený výraz patologa, když se mu povedlo objevit příčinu smrti? Tak přesně takhle vypadám pokaždé já, když si poslechnu "Gangrenous Symphonies".


Mám zkrátka pro tuhle smečku slabost, líbí se mi, jak přistupují k hudbě, jak dokáží napsat dobrý motiv, jak si stále zachovávají živočišnost, uvěřitelnost, opravdovost. Je samozřejmě jasné, že se jedná o záležitost se stejnými geny, jako mají třeba EXHUMED, CARCASS, NECRONY, THE COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINERS, GENERAL SURGERY. Koneckonců, vždycky máte na výběr. Patologie nebo jatka? Stačí zapnout play a z reproduktorů se na vás vyhrne poctivá porce zkaženého masa. Naporcovaného s přesností mistrů v oboru, s nadšením a odhodláním zabíjet hudbou. Navíc, čím jsem starší, tím častěji mě štve podivný svět kolem nás. Všechna ta lež, přetvářka, všechno to násilí, války, šklebící se politici, sociální sítě plné jedu, bolest a utrpení. Mnozí mí kolegové berou drahé léky nebo navštěvují lékaře. Já mám muziku, kterou si pouštím nahlas. Jsou zkrátka nahrávky (a "Gangrenous Symphonies" mezi ně patří), které mi dokáží vyčistit hlavu, propláchnout ji kyselinou, abych mohl druhý den vstát s úsměvem na tváři. Španělé netvoří nic nového, ani převratného, neobjevují znovu kolo, ale jejich nová nahrávka není jenom obyčejným, i když dobře zvládnutým řemeslem. Naopak, oceňuji náladu, atmosféru, tolik známou ze starých patologických sálů. O zvuku, obalu a dalším formálních záležitostech netřeba diskutovat, vše je v nejlepším pořádku. Vítejte tedy v obskurním divadle morbidních podivností. Sedněte si a nechte se unášet krvavou řekou děsivé fantazie. Gore hororový, death grincoreový krvavý zážitek té nejvyšší kvality! Masakr na pitevním sále!

Anyone who has ever dissected dead or living bodies knows very well that it is very important what music you play to accompany our hard work. Some people appreciate only the symphonies of the old classical masters, others are carried away by the calm, serene melodies. We, the old fans of grimy death metal and grindcore stained with tainted blood, are quite clear. Every time a new record comes out from Spanish pathologists NASTY SURGEONS, I get restless. Until I play it properly loud, until it gets into my blood and subconscious.

The gentlemen continue their morbid ride this year. They're digging riffs into our skin, drilling drums into our heads and tearing our ears to blood. Once again, it's a wild, raw and brutal experience. Have you ever seen the satisfied look on the pathologist's face when he's discovered the cause of death? That's exactly how I look every time I listen to "Gangrenous Symphonies".


I just have a soft spot for this bunch, I like how they approach music, how they can write a good theme, how they still keep it animalistic, believable, real. Of course, it's clear that this is a thing with the same genes as EXHUMED, CARCASS, NECRONY, THE COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINERS, GENERAL SURGERY. After all, you always have a choice. Pathology or slaughterhouse? Just put it on play and a fair portion of rotten meat will be spewed out of the speakers. Sliced with the precision of masters in the field, with the passion and determination to kill with music. Plus, the older I get, the more often I get annoyed by the strange world around us. All the lies, the hypocrisy, all the violence, the wars, the smirking politicians, the social networks full of venom, pain and suffering. Many of my colleagues take expensive drugs or see doctors. I have music that I play loud. There are simply some records (and "Gangrenous Symphonies" is one of them) that can clear my head, flush it with acid so I can get up the next day with a smile on my face. The Spaniards aren't creating anything new or groundbreaking, they're not reinventing the wheel, but their new record is not just ordinary, albeit well-crafted. On the contrary, I appreciate the mood, the atmosphere, so familiar from the old pathological halls. There is no need to discuss the sound, the cover and other formal matters, everything is in the best order. So welcome to the obscure theatre of morbid oddities. Sit back and be swept away by a bloody river of horrific fantasy. A gore horror, death grincore gore experience of the highest quality! Massacre in the autopsy room!

Házím mrtvá těla na hromadu. Poslední dobou je jich nějak moc. Vypadá to, že v ulicích je zase nějaká zabijácká choroba. Mají vyděšené tváře, vyhřezlá břicha. V očích, které připomínají sklo, lze vystopovat strach. Smrt má mnoho podob, to už dávno vím. Někdy si jen tak sundám rukavice a hraju si s vnitřnostmi, se zkaženým masem. Někomu to přijde divné, ale když je Smrt vaším každodenním společníkem, tak se stanete jejím podivným stínem. Kombinaci death metalu v jeho staré podobě a grindcore mám moc rád.

Zde, ve staré kafilerii, hned za krvavými jatky, se podobná muzika poslouchá každý den. Navíc, je pod ní podepsán Rogga Johansson, kvalita je zaručena. Jeho typický rukopis je sice vepsán i do spousty dalších kapel a mnohdy se již tenhle severský bard opakuje, ale takhle v noci, při směně,  když vám přivezou další těla, se poslouchá jeho nové album velmi dobře.


Tentokrát se Rogga soustředil na surovost a na nové album nasázel velkou porci nekompromisních riffů, ostrých melodií, u kterých odpadává maso od kostí, i takové té mrtvolné atmosféry, kterou lze potkat opravdu jen na jatkách, v márnicích a všude tam, kde se stalo něco násilného. Zvuk i obal jsou v pořádku. Jasně, nehraje se tu nic nového, ani převratného, ale osobně si "Hail the Blood Father" aplikuji hlavně v momentech, kdy si potřebuji vyčistit hlavu od zbytečností. Dnešní svět je plný adorovaného násilí, falešných úsměvů, lidí, kteří se musí vyjadřovat ke všemu, aniž tomu rozumí. Někdy je toho moc a tak raději zapínám play a přidávám hlasitost. Byl bych nerad, aby tohle album zapadlo, myslím si totiž, že stojí rozhodně za to. Je to možná staroškolský Roggův přístup, touha ničit hudbou nebo jenom opravdovost a uvěřitelnost, které dělají z novinky velmi dobré album. Určitě to znáte. Někdy na vás všechno padá, děsíte se každého stínu a připadá vám, že lidé kolem vás lžou a podvádějí. V podobných chvílích jsem poslouchal nové HUMANITY DELETE stále dokola a vždy jsem odcházel spokojený a s hlavou čistou a pokornými myšlenkami. Pokud to máte takhle také rádi, neváhejte ani chvilku. Neznám nic příjemnějšího, než za sebou zavřít rezavé dveře a čekat až...přivezou další mrtvá těla a budu je házet na hromadu. Poslední dobou je jich nějak moc. Vypadá to, že v ulicích je zase nějaká zabijácká choroba. Mají vyděšené tváře, vyhřezlá břicha. V očích, které připomínají sklo, lze vystopovat strach. Smrt má mnoho podob, to už dávno vím. Mrtvolně surový, krutý a mokvající death metal ušpiněný grindcore, který vám vyrve všechny vnitřnosti z těla! Hniloba, špína a smrt!

I'm throwing dead bodies in a pile. There's been too many of them lately. Looks like there's some killer disease on the streets again. Their faces are scared, their stomachs are gouged out. You can see the fear in their glassy eyes. Death takes many forms, I've known that for a long time. Sometimes I just take off my gloves and play with the entrails, the rotten meat. It may seem strange to some, but when Death is your daily companion, you become its strange shadow. I love the combination of death metal in its old form and grindcore.

Here, in the old rendering plant, just behind the bloody slaughterhouse, this kind of music is listened to every day. Plus, it's signed by Rogga Johansson, quality is guaranteed. His typical handwriting is written in many other bands and often this Nordic bard repeats himself, but this night, during the shift, when more bodies are brought to you, his new album is very good to listen to.


This time, Rogga focused on brutality and on the new album he put a big portion of uncompromising riffs, sharp melodies that make the flesh fall off the bones, as well as the kind of dead atmosphere that can only be found in slaughterhouses, morgues and everywhere where something violent has happened. The sound and the cover are fine. Sure, there is nothing new or groundbreaking going on here, but personally I apply "Hail the Blood Father" mainly at moments when I need to clear my head of uselessness. Today's world is full of adored violence, fake smiles, people who have to comment on everything without understanding it. Sometimes it's too much, so I prefer to put it on play and turn up the volume. I would hate for this album to fit in, because I think it's definitely worth it. Maybe it's Rogg's old-school approach, the desire to destroy with music, or just the genuineness and believability that make this a very good album. I'm sure you know it. Sometimes everything comes crashing down on you, you dread every shadow and you feel like the people around you are lying and cheating. I've listened to the new HUMANITY DELETE over and over again at times like this and always come away satisfied and with a clear head and humble thoughts. If you like it that way too, don't hesitate a moment. I know nothing more satisfying than closing the rusty door behind me and waiting for...more dead bodies to be brought in and thrown on the pile. There's been too many of them lately. Looks like there's some killer disease on the streets again. Their faces are scared, their bellies are cut out. You can see the fear in their glassy eyes. Death takes many forms, I've known that for a long time. Deadly raw, cruel and swamping death metal dirty grindcore that will rip your guts out! Rot, filth and death!

Je až fascinující, jak lidstvo stále dokola opakuje stejné chyby. Jakoby se historie vracela v podivných kruzích. Nové technologie jsou mnohdy přínosem, ale také díky nim umíme lépe zabíjet. Když jsem viděl nedávno záběry z války, jak padají bomby kolem jaderné elektrárny v Záporoží, začaly se mi v hlavě znovu promítat děsivé filmy z Černobylu. Také jsem zrovna poslouchal nové album německých maniaků CYTOTOXIN.

Sílu téhle smečky jsme mohli u nás v Čechách vidět často i při živých vystoupeních. Vždy se jednalo o mocný a masivní zážitek. O hudbu, která nejen, že je skvěle zahraná, technická, brutální, ale také má v sobě určitý přesah. Díky obsahu textů, díky atmosféře, která opravdu připomíná opuštěný prostor okolo Pripjati. Zůstaly po nás jenom mrazivé stíny. Nová deska opět zabíjí, s tím si můžete být absolutně jistí. 


My, co jsme vyrůstali v socialistickém bloku, si moc dobře pamatujeme, jak jsme si nasazovali plynové masky, čistili oblečení od chemických látek. Vycvičeni k sebevražednému útoku, jsme se báli, kdy na nás dopadnou první bomby. Při poslechu nové desky "Biographyte" si na ty chvíle často vzpomenu. Dodnes leží v nemocnici lidé poznamenaní po jaderné katastrofě, mají zohavená těla a ozáření se promítlo i do jejich potomků. Tehdy se navíc snažili tehdejší vládci všechno ututlat, nesmělo se o tom mluvit. Je proto moc dobře, že existují kapely jako CYTOTOXIN, které tyto temné události připomínají. Pánové to navíc dělají velmi zkušeně, elegantně. Skladby jsou napsány zajímavě, neotřele, najdete v nich velkou spoustu skvělých nápadů. Brutalita se zde potkává s technikou, to vše zabalené v záhadné, děsivé a chladné temnotě, která provází všechny, které dostihl jaderný mrak. Dozimetry opět ukazují hrozivé výsledky a vy se bojíte při poslechu dýchat. Ano, je to přesně tak, album si mě opět podmanilo a strhlo do hlubiny. Povedl se zvuk, stylový obal, ale hlavně hudba, která je ostrá a nekompromisní. Zasvěcení moc dobře vědí, že stylově se jedná o záležitost, kterou lze připodobnit k tomu, co tvoří kapely jako ORIGIN, VIRAMEIA, BRAINDRILL, WORMED, VIRVUM, BENIGHTED, STILLBIRTH, SOREPTION. To ale není zase tolik důležité. Hlavní (a pro mě zcela zásadní) je, že mě baví novinku poslouchat, rád se k ní vracím. Koneckonců, události posledních let nám opět jasně dokazují, že bychom neměli zapomínat. Je až fascinující, jak lidstvo stále dokola opakuje stejné chyby. Historie se opakuje v podivných kruzích. Stačí se podívat na zprávy. Opět došlo k úniku radioaktivity! Technický, brutální death metal s temnou aurou, který vás vezme na výlet mezi spálené ruiny v Pripjati!

It is fascinating how humanity repeats the same mistakes over and over again. It's as if history goes round in strange circles. New technologies are often beneficial, but they also make us better at killing. When I recently saw the wartime footage of bombs falling around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the horrific films of Chernobyl began to replay in my mind. I've also just been listening to the new album by German maniacs CYTOTOXIN.

The power of this pack could be seen often in our Czech Republic during live performances. It was always a powerful and massive experience. Music that is not only well played, technical, brutal, but also has a certain overlap. Because of the content of the lyrics, because of the atmosphere, which really reminds of the abandoned space around Pripyat. All we are left with are chilling shadows. The new album kills again, you can be absolutely sure of that.


Those of us who grew up in the socialist bloc remember very well how we used to put on gas masks and clean our clothes of chemicals. Trained for suicide attack, we were afraid when the first bombs would fall on us. Listening to the new album "Biographite", I often remember those moments. People scarred by the nuclear disaster are still lying in hospital today, their bodies mutilated, and the radiation has affected their descendants. In those days, moreover, the rulers of the time tried to keep everything secret, they were not allowed to talk about it. It is therefore very good that there are bands like CYTOTOXIN that commemorate these dark events. Moreover, the gentlemen are doing it in a very skilled, elegant way. The songs are written in an interesting, fresh way, you can find a lot of great ideas in them. Brutality meets technique here, all wrapped in the mysterious, eerie and cold darkness that accompanies all those caught in the nuclear cloud. The dosimeters again show terrifying results and you are afraid to breathe while listening. Yes, that's right, the album has once again captivated me and taken me into the depths. The sound, the stylish cover, but most of all the music, which is sharp and uncompromising. Insiders know very well that stylistically it is a matter that can be compared to what bands like ORIGIN, VIRAMEIA, BRAINDRILL, WORMED, VIRVUM, BENIGHTED, STILLBIRTH, SOREPTION create. But that's not so important. The main thing (and for me it's quite essential) is that I enjoy listening to new music, I like to come back to it. After all, the events of the last few years prove again clearly that we should not forget. It is fascinating how humanity repeats the same mistakes over and over again. History repeats itself in strange circles. Just look at the news. Radioactivity has been leaked again! Technical, brutal death metal with a dark aura that will take you on a trip among the burnt ruins of Pripyat!

Vše je pomíjivé, jenom bolest zůstává. Oběti násilných činů mi zajisté potvrdí, že si děsivé vzpomínky nesou celý svůj život v sobě. Jakoby se zlo neustále vracelo, hlodalo někde uvnitř. Je jako červ, který se usadil ve vašich vnitřnostech. Jako nutkavá myšlenka na pomstu. Jako krvavá stopa po násilí. Už dávno jste chtěli zapomenout, ale potom čtete rozhovory, vidíte filmy, videa. Adorace násilí dosáhla vrcholu, existuje jenom jedna cesta, jak z toho ven. Volume pořádně doprava a temná místnost s novým albem francouzských death grinderů PUTRID OFFAL

Pouštěl bych novou desku "Obliterated Life" všem hajzlům přímo do ksichtu, aby jim slezla kůže z tváře. Nevím ani proč, ale když se mi dostalo album poprvé do rukou a pustil jsem si jej na své hi-fi věži, napadaly mě podobné myšlenky. Opět se totiž jedná o hrubozrnný, masakrující grindcore smíchaný s krutou smrtí ze staré školy. O poctivý materiál, který musí zasáhnout každého opravdového fanouška kapely. A nejen jeho. I všechny, kteří mají rádi v hudbě tlak, energii a krvavou temnotu. 


Míval jsem slabost pro tuhle smečku v devadesátých letech a zůstalo mi to i po jejich návratu v roce 2014. Sleduji jejich dráhu, viděl jsem je několikrát naživo a těším se na každou novou nahrávku jako na smilování Boží. Líbí se mi jejich staroškolský přístup, oceňuji devastující zvuk, mokvající nápady, gore tématiku ale hlavně totální nadšení a odhodlání. Každé setkání probíhá tak, že zapnu play, nejdříve jen tak v klidu sedím a nakonec mlátím pěstí do stolu a tančím zběsilý tanec všech prokletých. Jsem už starý pes a u muziky oceňuji hlavně, jestli mě baví, jestli mě zasáhne do srdce i na solar plexus. Francouzským matadorům se povedlo i letos nahrát album, které má v sobě takovou tu pradávnou sílu, touhu ničit hudbou. Pokud jste měli rádi všechna zásadní alba CARCASS, NAPALM DEATH, REPULSION, TERRORIZZER, IMPETIGO, AGATHOCLES a jste naplno oddáni tomuto stylu, neváhejte ani chvilku. Dostanete náklad plný polámaných kostí, rozdrcených obličejů. Dnešní doba je plná nervosity, prázdných řečí, falešných proroků a lží. Jsem moc rád, že jsou ještě jistoty, ke kterým se můžu uchýlit. Nevím, jak se se vším tím jedem, co je kolem nás, vypořádáváte vy, ale já si pokaždé zavřu a narvu si pod tlakem do hlavy desky, jako je právě "Obliterated Life". Nové album je pro mě vlastně takovou terapií, únikem, relaxem. Nemohu tedy jinak, než vám nový zásek doporučit. Poslouchejte pořádně nahlas! Tahle kapela vám propláchne mozek kyselinou. Vše je totiž pomíjivé, jenom bolest zůstává. Budete naporcováni krutým, ostrým, divokým a nekompromisním death grindcore ze staré školy! Totální devastace lidské mysli!

I'd play the new album "Obliterated Life" right in the face of all motherfuckers to get the skin off their face. I don't even know why, but when I got the album in my hands for the first time and played it on my hi-fi tower, I had similar thoughts. Because once again, this is coarse-grained, butchering grindcore mixed with old-school cruel death. Honest stuff that must hit every true fan of the band. And not only his. And everyone who likes pressure, energy and bloody darkness in their music.


I used to have a soft spot for this pack in the 90's and it's remained with me even after their return in 2014. I've followed their career, seen them live a few times and look forward to each new release as if by the grace of God. I like their old school approach, I appreciate the devastating sound, the soaking ideas, the gore themes but most of all the total enthusiasm and commitment. Every session is done by turning on the play, first just sitting still and finally pounding my fist on the table and doing the frantic dance of all the damned. I'm an old dog now, and with music I mostly appreciate if it entertains me, if it hits me in the heart and solar plexus. The French matadors have managed to record an album this year too, which has that ancient power, the desire to destroy with music. If you liked all the essential albums of CARCASS, NAPALM DEATH, REPULSION, TERRORIZZER, IMPETIGO, AGATHOCLES and you are fully committed to this style, don't hesitate a moment. You'll get a load of broken bones, crushed faces. Today's times are full of nervousness, empty talk, false prophets and lies. I'm so glad there are still certainties I can resort to. I don't know how you guys deal with all the poison that's around us, but I always shut up and shove records like "Obliterated Life" into my head under pressure. The new album is actually a kind of therapy for me, an escape, a relaxation. So I can't help but recommend the new record to you. Listen really loud! This band will flush your brain with acid. Everything is fleeting, only the pain remains. You'll be sliced up with cruel, sharp, fierce and uncompromising death grindcore from the old school! Total devastation of the human mind!

Můžeš ubližovat ostatním, můžeš být zlý, může po tobě zůstávat jenom bolest a utrpení. Nakonec ti stejně bude odpuštěno. Kolik děsivých nočních můr se odehrává za klášterní zdí? To víš jenom ty. Odříkáš několik modliteb a vše je v naprostém pořádku. Pro tebe. Oběti mezitím umírají strachem a nikdo se o ně nestará. Peklo existuje, to už dávno víš. Je ukryté v každém z nás. Jsou kapely, které jej umí vytáhnout na povrch, pojmenovat a ukázat, jak vypadá opravdové zlo. Je jedno, jestli si obyčejný člověk nebo padlý kněz. Existuje jediná pravda. Bez rozdílu.

Hodně o podobných věcech poslední roky přemýšlím. Teď, když poslouchám nové album kapely SCOUR, tak mi hlavou létají temné myšlenky. Je to hodně naléhavý materiál, skvěle zahraný. Jak by také ne, když se jedná o smečku, složenou ze samých slavných a zkušených muzikantů. Myslím si, že stačí jenom napsat: Philip Anselmo (Pantera, Down), Derek Engemann (ex-Cattle Decapitation), John Jarvis (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index) a Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index) a každý fanoušek extrémního metalu mi potvrdí, že je o kvalitu postaráno. 


Základem je zde klasický, severský black metal z Norska a Švédska (MAYHEM, BURZUM, DARKTHRONE, GORGOROTH, 1349, MARDUK). Přidávány jsou potom jak death, tak grindcoreové prvky. Zazní samozřejmě i thrash metal a punk. SCOUR jsou zkrátka kapelou, která se snaží extrémní metal posouvat dále, do jiných zákoutí. Jsou jako nějací hudební badatelé, kteří rádi objevují. I když se jedná o skupinu, složenou ze samých skvělých muzikantů a člověk by čekal spíše souboj eg, tak opak je pravdou. Skladby mají jasné, zřetelné a ostré melodie. Nezapomíná se na chladnou a temnou atmosféru. Opravdu si při poslechu připadám, jako bych byl zavřený v kobce pod kostelem. Čekám na svého mučitele. Usmívá se jako samotný ďábel. Také cítíte ten chlad, ten mrazivý pocit, který se mi dostává až do morku kostí? Mimochodem, Philip Anselmo je jedním z mých nejoblíbenějších zpěváků vůbec. A na nové desce "Gold" se doslova překonává. Také máte někdy neodbytný pocit, že jsme jen loutky, jen postavičky na velké šachovnici života? Kdo nás ovládá? Jestli sázíte na Boha, tak vás nechci zklamat. Toho nikdo nikdy neviděl, zato Satana můžete potkat každý den několikrát. Skvělý je i masivní, syrový zvuk. Zabijácký, nekompromisní, ihned se vám zadře pod kůži. To se mi stalo vlastně s celou nahrávkou. Má v sobě totiž něco přitažlivého, magického. Je jako násilný souboj, který nás podvědomě vábí. Pánové nahráli album, které má v sobě všechny potřebné atributy, ingredience, aby se na dlouhý čas stalo mým průvodcem v dnešním šíleném světě. Nemůžu jinak, než vám novinku doporučit. Hoří totiž opět jasným plamenem. A spálí vás na popel. Můžeš ubližovat ostatním, můžeš být zlý, může po tobě zůstávat jenom bolest a utrpení. Nakonec ti stejně bude odpuštěno. Kolik děsivých nočních můr se odehrává za klášterní zdí? To víš jenom ty. Odříkáš několik modliteb a vše je v naprostém pořádku. Pro tebe. Surový a chladný black metal, ušpiněný death, thrash metalem, grindcore i punkem, který po sobě zanechává krvavou stopu! Satan se ukrývá ve stínu kostela!

You can hurt others, you can be evil, you can leave only pain and suffering. In the end, you will still be forgiven. How many horrific nightmares take place behind the monastery walls? Only you know. You say a few prayers and all is well. For you. Meanwhile, the victims are dying of fear and no one cares. Hell exists, you already know that. It's hidden in all of us. There are bands that can bring it to the surface, name it, and show what true evil looks like. It doesn't matter if you're a common man or a fallen priest. There is only one truth. No matter what.

I've been thinking a lot about things like this lately. Now, when I listen to the new SCOUR album, I have dark thoughts running through my head. It's very urgent stuff, very well played. How could it not, when it's a pack of famous and experienced musicians. I think I just need to write: Philip Anselmo (Pantera, Down), Derek Engemann (ex-Cattle Decapitation), John Jarvis (Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index) and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index) and any extreme metal fan will tell me that quality is taken care of. 


The basis here is classic, Nordic black metal from Norway and Sweden (MAYHEM, BURZUM, DARKTHRONE, GORGOROTH, 1349, MARDUK). Then both death and grindcore elements are added. Of course, thrash metal and punk will also be heard. In short, SCOUR are a band that tries to push extreme metal further, into other corners. They are like musical explorers who like to discover. Although this is a band made up of all great musicians and one would expect more of a battle of egos, the opposite is true. The songs have clear, distinct and crisp melodies. The cold and dark atmosphere is not forgotten. I really feel like I'm locked in a dungeon under a church when listening to it. Waiting for my tormentor. He smiles like the devil himself. Do you also feel the chill, the chilling feeling that gets to my bones? By the way, Philip Anselmo is one of my favorite singers ever. And on the new album "Gold", he literally outdoes himself. Do you also sometimes get the nagging feeling that we're just puppets, just pieces on the great chessboard of life? Who controls us? If you're betting on God, I don't want to disappoint you. No one has ever seen Him, but you can meet Satan several times every day. The massive, raw sound is great, too. Killer, uncompromising, gets under your skin immediately. That's what happened to me with the whole record, actually. There's something very appealing, magical about it. It's like a violent battle that subconsciously draws us in. The gentlemen have recorded an album that has all the necessary attributes, ingredients to become my guide in today's crazy world for a long time. I can't help but recommend the news to you. For it burns with a bright flame once again. And it will burn you to the ground. You can hurt others, you can be evil, you can only be left with pain and suffering. In the end, you'll be forgiven anyway. How many horrific nightmares take place behind the monastery walls? Only you know. You say a few prayers and all is well. For you. Raw and cold black metal, stained with death, thrash metal, grindcore and punk, leaving a trail of blood in its wake! Satan hides in the shadow of the church!

Interview with death grindcore metal band from France - FATAL.

Ave FATAL! Right at the beginning I have to give a bow to your latest album "Apocalypsis". It's been a long time since I've heard such a tight and crazy record. I have it at home, in my car and at work, in various formats and I listen to it every time I need a boost of energy. In hindsight, how happy are you with the album and what's the reaction from fans?

Skull:** Hail Jakub! Hi to all Deadly storm readers!

I'm extremely pleased with your first comments, and I have to say that I have the same reactions as you. In my opinion, this is our most accomplished album to date, and we're very proud of it. So far, everyone who's listened to it has really enjoyed it, with melodies and phrases already stuck in their heads.

I think the new album is a perfect album in all aspects actually. The sound is great, the ideas, the cover art. How did FATAL compose and how was the new album created? It seems to me that you have a different set of musicians for each album. Who has the main say in the band and is the one who says - this song is good, let's leave it?

We put a lot of work into Apocalypsis. Composing the songs well in advance enabled us to step back and hone them finely to arrive at this final result.

John and Damned, the guitarists, wrote 12 tracks. We listened to them at length and only 9 were retained for the album. Then came the lyrics. And we consulted each other regularly as soon as a new idea surfaced.

The process was the same for the album cover, for which Damned was responsible.

The line-up is subject to change by force of circumstance and personal life choices. However, most of the time, we make decisions after a collective consultation.

There isn't really a leader as such.


"Apocalypsis" has a harsh, brutal sound. Raw and uncompromising. It's punchy at the same time. Where did you record the album? And who is the mastering engineer? I really like that the sound is organic, so real, you avoided "artificiality" and "overdone", as unfortunately some bands have the habit of doing nowadays.

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in Damned's own studio. He did a remarkable job of delivering a powerful, massive sound, drawing on the sources of old-school metal with the quality of today's sounds, without falling into sanitized compression without identity.

It's clear that in death metal, lyrics are often an afterthought. How do you perceive the content of the lyrics and how are they created in FATAL? What are they about on the new album and what were they influenced by?

In Apocalypsis (which means Revelation), the texts deal with themes of suffering, anger, hope and love. In this opus, the subject is childhood suffering: innocence abused, tortured and destroyed for no reason, as only evil beings can do. The anger stems from the fact that these true demons enjoy too much impunity, are sometimes even protected, if not encouraged, and also benefit from the prevailing unhealthy hypersexualization (the “Daisy Destruction” affair).

And out of this disgusting cesspool emerges hope, the hope that delivers and gives meaning to life, and for which love is the nourishment, the guide of our heart. Without love there can be no life.


Going back to the beginning... What was the first impulse that made you put the band together? And why death metal?

FATAL was founded by John and André (now deceased) in 1997 from the ashes of NOMED, a thrash band that toured extensively at the time. André wanted a new thrash metal band combining originality and power. The first EP, “L'émissaire”, was therefore released with horn and cello sections that same year.

The change of singer in 2001 gave FATAL this death metal tinge, a style he is particularly fond of. So there's always a touch of that thrash metal influence to spice up our music brutally.

If I'm not mistaken, FATAL dates back to 1997. How do you perceive that time? You and the other bands were at the birth of something new. Your history is full of changes and interesting albums, which rightfully belong in every fan's golden collection. I just wonder why there aren't more of those records? Three long-playing records in 28 years isn't a lot. What's your explanation and what's the reason for that?

It's true that the metal scene from 1980 to 2000 was very rich indeed. The different styles of metal were created at that time, and the anthology albums come from that period.

FATAL played a lot of concerts until 2010, when the band decided to stop. Until then, it was rather the financial means that we lacked to be able to produce more albums.

It was in 2018 that we decided to get back into the swing of things, with the desire above all to compose again, with a different approach, more resources and still the same drive!


How did you get started in music and how did you get into death metal? What about the first gig you attended, what about the first time you were on stage? Who was your role model?

As for me (SKull/vocals), I started playing guitar/vocals in 1991 with Nirvana, then discovered Maiden, then Megadeth, Slayer, Sepultura, and then BOOM Napalm Death, Cannibal, Entombed!!!!

In fact, it was my first concert, 1997, Entombed on the ''To Ride, Shoot...” tour, it was crazy, in a small, packed venue, then a few months later it was a date with Cannibal Corpse and Krabathor, it was huge!!!

My first stage was in high school, with my first death metal band, Heretik. I really liked Max Cavalera's style back then. Then, being only on vocals with FATAL, I live the songs so much that I'm almost in a trance ☺ it's really my inner being that pops up, the angry one.

What was and is the death metal scene in Le Havre like? Do you guys meet up somewhere? If I come to your place, do you have a club, a place you would recommend?

The metal scene in Le Havre has been undergoing a revival recently, and it's pretty exciting, even if there's not a lot of death metal, the public comes out and appreciates the bands when they give off something strong.

The Irish pub, Mac Daid's, is the perfect place if you're passing through Le Havre, you'll be very well received, there's a great atmosphere and the beer is unfortunately delicious. See you tonight?


I love your country, the culture, the sights, and the beautiful girls. But for the last years France has also been a literal well of good metal music. You go about music in a slightly different way than others. I like SVART CROWN, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, BENIGHTED, but also veterans MERCYLESS, newcomers RITUALIZATION, SKELETHAL... there are a lot of great bands - how is that possible? Is it the wine?:). Do you have any other tips for us? Do you see any differences between concerts elsewhere in Europe and here?

Thanks for the compliments, there are a lot of very good bands in France, and indeed some very good wines, maybe there's a link between all that ☺ . You also have good beers, very pretty ladies, and good bands in the Czech Republic, FATAL had actually covered Orthodox by Krabathor a few years ago. A superb song!

I don't think we have any advice to give anyone, there are no secrets, you just have to enjoy yourself, love what you're doing, and if you're not satisfied, start again, and so on.

Unfortunately, we don't know the Czech public, and we'd be delighted to come and play on stages in your homeland, like at this monstrous Czech Death fest!

What about you and concerts in general? Are you a band that goes to as many gigs as you can or do you pick and choose a lot? Do you have a dream, like a band you'd like to tour with or a festival, a city you'd like to perform in?

FATAL played a lot between 1997 and 2010, and in all sorts of places: cellars, squats, houseboats... Since then, we've been trying to play in places where the conditions are right, but above all it's out of respect for the audience. Our music, however violent and brutal it may be, demands a certain standard of ourselves, and therefore of the venues that welcome us.

We'd like to play everywhere! with a preference for Wacken Open air, Brutal assault, and Maryland death fest!

 

Death/grind metal isn't really a style that is in the spotlight for fans. It's all the more important to have support. From the old days, I have it fixed that you support your favourite band by buying a CD, a t-shirt, going to a gig. But times have changed. The internet rules the world, downloading music. How do you, as a band, perceive these changes? Have you had to make any adjustments to the way you operate? What about the fans, are they different too?

We don't find this digital domination disturbing, it's an evolution. Anyone who wants to listen to their favorite band in magnificent sound will buy a CD or vinyl LP, and we can only encourage that. Even if the media change, the main aim remains the sound, the music.

The whole planet will be able to download the latest FATAL album, while only 200 people will be lucky enough to have the LP ☺.

There are positives and negatives in all this with regard to the fans. They find themselves today with a multitude of bands to listen to, to discover, some becoming demanding and others bulimic...

It's been 28 years since FATAL was founded. You are a concept on the scene, you have loyal fans, you perform at concerts. Is there anything else you want to achieve as a band? What are your goals for the future?

Our main objective is to continue having fun by sharing our energy. To commune with our listeners. And to think about what's next for Apocalypsis.

Every time I interview a band, I always have to ask. What does death metal mean to you, how do you perceive it and how would you define it? I mean now more in terms of its philosophy, mood, atmosphere. For example, I think that death metal must always be played from the heart, otherwise it's not the same.

Anything undertaken with the heart is good for the person doing it. Death metal is an exciting and fascinating music that brings out the dark beast that lurks deep within us. It allows us to unleash violence that doesn't hurt, and like an outlet it makes us even more ALIVE (death makes me love life).

Ludwig Van Beethoven said: To play a bad note is insignificant, to play without passion is inexcusable.
